This place is one of the best! We go off-season because we do not like the crowded parks. There is Wallowa Lake to fish from and wonderful hiking opportunities. It is only 5 miles from the town of Joseph to go in for a bite and beer at our favorite pub, Embers. There are full hookups and clean, warm restrooms. We go every year with my daughter's family. They stay in the very nice yurts that are offered there. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Truck Camper.

The campground is in a beautiful location and is very popular. The restrooms were well maintained and clean. The only downside to the campground is the camping spaces are close together and there is little or no privacy from other campers. But if you want to camp in Joseph, OR, this campground is your best choice. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Oregon has some beautiful state parks. Slightly tight for our 35' + toad. Short drive to Joseph and then another 6 miles to Enterprise and some good restaurants. Clean park, just be sure and stay on asphalt with your toad. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very nice park but a bit crowded. RV sites are mixed in with dry camping tent sites (and saw some tenters take RV sites to have access to electricity). It was common to see tenters with three cars, 8-10 people, and 2-4 tents next to an RV, so the peacefulness of your stay definitely depends on your neighbor. Biggest negative is lack of bathrooms. Some facilities were closed for upgrades so the ones open were heavily used. We were in A loop where the only bathhouse had a women's room with two toilets and a sink, a men's room with one toilet and a sink, and two individual rooms with one shower each that was for everybody. For the most part the restrooms were kept clean, but it was difficult at times to get in. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You can rent paddleboat, canoes, kayaks, fishing boats at Wallowa Lake marina that is adjacent to park. The Wallowa Tramway is about a 20 minute walk up the road (about $33/adult, less for children, to ride to top; it also appeared you can hold onto your ticket and go up/down multiple times in one day).

Overall Rating:

Price quoted does not include required $8 fee for online reservation as fee can cover multiple days or even multiple parks if made during one session. I've stayed at many Oregon State Parks. The park at Wallowa is a decent park with a good camping (RV) experience, but it's heavily used and is often somewhat crowded. The camp sites are not particularly private, but do have sufficient room. Most of the spaces appear to be limited to an RV of 30-35 feet. The sites (and roadways) in the park are paved with asphalt. Tent sites are mixed in with RV sites on the camp site loops. Relatively few sites have full or W&E hookups. The internal roads are relatively narrow. I was surprised that backing into my site with a Sprinter Van RV (Class B) barely was able to stay on the pavement. I imagine that a larger, less maneuverable RV might find (some) sites difficult to enter. On the whole, this park is OK -- but not great. Main attraction is Wallowa Lake. Note: My small RV does not require a tow vehicle. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearby (Joseph OR) town has lots of shopping. Ski area relatively near by. Tram that runs year-round* to the top of Mt. Howard. Check wallowalaketramway.com for days of operation during your visit. Food service is available at Summit Grill.

Wallowa Lake "trail head" (USFS) is about 1 mile from the Park. During our visit, a connecting trail from the park was out of service ... and it was necessary to walk to the end of Power House Road to reach the trail head.

We stayed here in July. Very nice, clean and dog friendly campground. It was very full this time of year. A bit crowded but still very nice pull thru and back in sites. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Arrived just as late Spring snow was falling. Water was still turned off but electricity worked fine. Nice park on the lake but I'd imagine it would be very crowded (and noisy) in summer. Sites are not spacious. Many are very long but space between sites isn't much and no shrubbery. Bit of a trip into Joseph (8 miles) but that's minor - lots to see and do in the area. Would stay here again. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Stayed here in mid Feb as seldom do others use this park in the winter.. For us, it is the best time.. Very little snow this winter, so all of the park was accessible by foot. Recent wind storm had lots of branches and trees down. During this 'off' season, only a few sights have power, and no water. Not all sites are level, but the campground is very clean.

They only open one newer restroom/shower unit... Bad... in winter the new one is cold. Old one, and much larger, had heated floors... Good for those freezing winter days/nights.

We used my Oregon Disabled Vet pass for a free one night site. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Truck Camper.

Stayed over 4th of July 2014. We have been going here for 15 years. Always excellent!!!! Love this campground and surrounding areas. This is a really nice campground. 5 loops. C Loop is all electrical hookups. The other loops are mixed electric and non-electric tent sites. The sites vary in size but are level. Most are at least partial shade. A family oriented campground. It has a nice, very large playground area with grass that is well-groomed. Room for frisbee throwers or family games located between a section of C Loop on one side and the D & E Loops on the other side. Firewood sold onsite. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We returned to this park after a couple of years and it's still very nice. The hosts were helpful and firewood is sold on-site. Did not see as much wildlife here as we have in the past. 48 hours of our stay the temperature stayed at 40 degrees and rain, which translated to a fresh foot of snow on Mt Howard. We will be back again even though this place stays booked solid. Our RV is 25' long. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is really a nice spot with grass & plenty of trees, no satellite TV, but got phone & private (Verizon) Wi-Fi. There are places to sight see from here, we drove to Hell's Canyon look out & there is a tram to the top of the mountain right around the corner. The lake looked nice, but it was the end of the season & they were bringing in all the boats. There are a lot of deer in the park, that are not afraid of the people. I saw people feeding them, which I wouldn't recommend, but they also would come up next to your RV & sit there for a long time. It is a well kept park & I would definitely return. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Stunning setting. Last time we stayed here the sewer had backed up and was running into our site. The night crew responded @ 8PM and the morning crew @ 8AM when the problem couldn't be fixed. No offer to refund our fee, but could change to site by busy road. We'll come back, but not near the lower end of the sewer system. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice camp, but a little crowded for our taste. The sites are really tight together. We have two dogs and it was really hard to tie them where they didn't interfere with the camps on either side of us. I don't think we will stay here again. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

We camped in this beautiful park with family in adjacent sites for three nights. All of us had a great time and enjoyed the facilities. The campground host was in the site next to us and gave us some great suggestions of things to do. There are a lot of things to see and do in the area from fishing to sight seeing. We would like to return soon. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Another great Oregon State Park. Nice sites, nice people, quiet and peaceful. Joseph is a beautiful old western town with much to see and do. Several good restaurants. Many good hiking trails and the cable cars to the top of the mountain are a must. Restaurant on top very casual and decent food. Views spectacular. Everything you need for a fun vacation is here. We camped at Wallowa Lake State Park in a Motorhome.
