Easy off/on the interstate. If your rig is 40+ feet precise turns are necessary in a couple of places. The spaces are long enough for a 40' motorhome, and a diagonal toed parked in front. My space 7, was just wide enough to keep the tires on the asphalt. The power was reliable and the water was fine. Surrounded by tall trees. The space backed up to the interstate, about 40-50 yards away. With the door closed I didn't hear traffic at all. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice state park campground. It has hookups, well-spaced sites, and interesting stuff to explore. It's also convenient to both Pendleton and LaGrande. The only downside is that it's right next to I 84, do you get truck noise all night. It didn't bother us much, but it might be hard for light sleepers. We chose a site in the B loop as far away from the road as we could, but I'm not sure it made any difference. The one other problem is that water at the sites is oddly placed, not next to the electric. You'll need a long hose to reach it. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Truck Camper.

Liked that we got confirmation and site assignment by email. Beautful park. Lots of room between sites but our site was a bit small for our slides. Some highway noise. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Motorhome.

We stayed one night here on our way to Idaho. It was an easy on/easy off from I-84. The park is very close to the highway. The road noise was not that bothersome, although it continued all night. Two issues came up for us. The one-way road for the A-Loop is reversed. I spoke to the ranger who told me to drive against the one-way signs, so we could access our site from the correct orientation. That was easy enough. Second, some of the trees could use limbing up, so just be aware as you park. especially with larger RVs. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a service road that winds through old growth forest and is a nice 2 mile walk with a dog. We had a reservation. Although spaces were available, it was easier to be able to choose the right size site for our rig by making a reservation.

Sept 17- Nice camp ground. $24/night for full hookups and FREE showers. As mentioned in other prior reviews it is next to I-84 but I consider that easy an on/off for the night stay. Good water, power and Verizon Wireless and MIFI signal. Clean restrooms and showers. Firewood for sale cheap. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Motorhome.

Nice, forested park. Camp hosts are nice and efficient. The only problem is the proximity to the I-84 freeway which is approximately 150 yards away. Ironically, the traffic noise didn't bother us that much but it's not a place for peace and quiet. It has 18 full-hook up sites and 32 tent sites, some with water at the site. I receive 3 over the air channels. We camped in a Class C m/h but there were several Class A's in the campground. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

About 25 miles to Pendleton in one direction and 25 miles to LaGrande in the opposite direction. We didn't backtrack to see it but heard that you can view ruts from the wagon trains on the Oregon Trail at the Deadmans Pass rest area 8 miles to the west. There is also a dump station there.

This is a lovely campground and if it were not for the highway noise I would have rated it a 10. We first were on a dry camp spot. No hookups, but a water tap available nearby. Then when we found out it would be a week before our new A/C would be installed we switched to a full hookup site. Unfortunately for us this was even closer to the freeway and the noise! It is a great place to camp and except for the late afternoon/early evenings the sounds become white noise and not as bothersome. Another drawback to our site is no satellite signal or antenna reception available! But we have good Verizon signal and good 50 amp service. We would camp here again. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

The Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area near Meacham, Oregon is a nice stopover, positioned as it is just off the Interstate I-84. Regrettably, adjacent highway noise, at least well into the evening is a nuisance from the main East-West artery, which keeps this park from getting a perfect score in our book. After researching the available campsites and photos on ReserveAmerica, I chose site B07 as one of the spacious full hookup sites (limited availability though planned months in advance), but if it had been available, it would have been better to choose something on the other side of the B loop, which oddly has lights on their electrical hookup (generally we like darkness in our parks to see stars and feel remote), but the light might be a convenience to some. However, even these sites do not provide much better respite from the highway noise and when we were there at least, seemed to have a faint sewer-related odor, perhaps as these are nearer to the bathroom facilities. The showers and bathrooms were spotless, very well maintained even by high Oregon State Park standards, and we were surprised to read this park is decades old, parts of it built during CCC days, as everything is in excellent condition. Site was level, not too busy during weekday August stay (few tent campers in particular). Hosts very accessible and friendly. Verizon MiFi worked very well and a few over the air digital TV channels were found at night (not during daytime) from the Southern Washington Tri-Cities area (not mainstream channels but some local news and weather that kept us posted on regional fires and smoke that have been plaguing the West summer 2015). We would (and will) return for 1-2 night stays on our trips in/out of the state given routing convenience, value, maintenance, few nice (though unmarked) trails, and site size and amenities, but will not make this a destination or extended stay due to highway noise and not as much "heritage" as we thought we might find from early Oregon Trail travelers (such as wagon marks in Idaho and other areas for example, though there was a restored covered wagon, a presidential plaque, a nice historical display and marker). Interesting tidbit: A knowledgeable host informed us that the original "Emigrant Springs" was covered by I-84 when constructed in the 1950's. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Our GPS wanted to take us a bit off from the campsite proper, watch the well-marked signs for Emigrant Springs plus campsite pointers as you get close and you will be fine. Don't confuse this park with "Emigrant Lake County Park" which is near Ashland, Oregon, in the Southern part of the state, nowhere close to this Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area in the Eastern part of Oregon. If noise is an important consideration, then look for sites on the opposite side from I-84 (same side as bathroom). However, the noise only diminishes a little there so you might look for something away from I-84 entirely. We found it an acceptable compromise for a short 1-2 night stop, just wouldn't like for extended stay. Chose "concrete pad" as site surface in RV Park Reviews selection list as closest, but more accurately is really an asphalt surface.

It is forested which helps that part of the day there is shading, & makes you feel your in a literal camping world. The highway is too close, that vehicle activity is loud many hours but still, the woods are filled with big trees & growth. Our site had a water spigot, picnic table, nice brick grounding beneath the tent & paved vehicle spot. I may be wrong about the site number but it was the disabiilty slot near the restrooms & was a spacious site. Good showers, good restrooms with some plugs for hair dryers. Lots of people from all over the park use the same restooms so there is a busy time. We got in there just fine. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Tent.

$24 per night was for a level asphalt pad site with full-hookups, picnic table, and fire ring. The campground is in a heavily forested area so sites are shaded throughout most of the day. This lovely campground is located at the summit of the Blue Mountains where Oregon Trail travelers stopped for water supplies. Equestrian and tent camping are available, as are rustic log cabins. Bicycles are permitted on park roads. The campground is located right along I-84 so there is constant traffic noise but it becomes white noise after a while. The closest town is actually Meacham which has a small general store with post office. The town of Pendleton (where Pendleton Woolen Mills is located) is 24 miles away, so shopping and dining are available. There are other attractions, including a nearby original section of the original Old Oregon Trail where the wagon trains camped for several days and replenished their water supplies, and a Native American museum. AT&T cell service was four bars 4G and our Millenicom Jetpack was getting four bars of 4G LTE, so both could be used for Internet access. There were four OTA TV stations. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Motorhome.

This is an old campground right off of Highway 84. Sites are not level. Lots of road noise due to the major highway and it's proximity. We stopped here just as an overnight place of rest but wouldn't include it as a destination location. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Motorhome.

Great park with a great staff! The spots were clean and fairly level. The rangers are extremely helpful They even cut down a small tree that was rubbing against our rig. They also offer a lot of things to do in the area. Don't miss the Pendleton underground tour, its really neat. The only drawback is the traffic noise from the freeway. Sites further away from the freeway do a little better. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Fifth Wheel.

The price reflects an $8.00 internet reservation charge. What a lovely little park! Although there were no pull-through sites, I had little trouble backing in my 35' fiver. The park is in a wooded area and is absolutely gorgeous! Close proximity to the highway meant some noise but not at all bad. As a bonus, old time fiddlers were playing in the common areas and demos and exhibits of candle making, taxidermy, carving and other crafts were on display. Certainly will try to stay here again! We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Fifth Wheel.

What a beautiful campground! Because I stayed here early in the year, I was able to pick a spot away from the freeway. Didn't hear any noise at all. Staff was very helpful. Oregon trail information was quite interesting. Since my rig is very small I was able to jockey a bit in my site to level, but I saw larger rigs with leveling blocks. With full hookups, I didn't need the restrooms or showers, but they looked very clean. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Motorhome.

We couldn't find any other facilities with cabins in the area, so this was great! And only $40 per night (and another $8 reservation fee). Great place to stay for the night, but no running water or kitchen/bath facilities. Just a warm room with beds, but perfect if that is all you need! Can sleep up to 5 people. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Campground Cabin.
