I travel in a smaller motor home, and I'm happy to use the campground showers. So I don't mind non-sewer sites. Most of the sites here are private, cozy, and beautifully forested. The only issue with that is during storms when trees are known to fall here. I use a router/mimo antenna and never have issues with Verizon or AT&T here, and I use data extensively for work. I don't bother with TV. The dog park is small, but adequate. Bathrooms are being upgraded and hot water is plentiful. This park suffers from lack of funds, like all TT campgrounds since the greedy developers bought it. The same maintenance issues and underpaid, overworked staff that plague all TT parks are present. So expect bad roads, ungraded sites, and many sites flooded or out of order. This park is best suited for those who travel light and enjoy beautiful scenery. - Cat09

We really enjoyed our stay here. We chose the E section where the sites were spacious. There were a couple of full hook up sites available but we chose not to use them because they were considerably smaller and only had 30 amp. Plus in the E section we had this little enchanted forest right out the back of the rig. There was excellent cell service throughout the park. We have T-Mobile. The pool was closed for the season but the two hot tubs are open all year long. Nice club house. And one of the best laundry facilities we've ever seen in a park. And half the price per load. Fresh coffee all day there too! The town of Florence is just a few minutes away and the Dunes just down the street. You have all your shopping needs available in town Fred Meyers, Safeway. Fill up with your fuel in Florence if your headed South as it gets a lot more expensive as you get into the California /Oregon border territory. - Glamour Glampers

it saddens me to write this negative review, because of the family time spent at Thousand Trails parks. Unfortunately, TT has been in steady decline as they went through acquisitions, sell-offs and deepening control of MBA managers. If you have been a TT member, you understand the decline in the value proposition. If you are considering Thousand Trails, reconsider your decision. Thousand Trails billed themselves as family friendly, which they seem to have done in Florence. However, TT has not adapted to the change in RV configurations. Motorhomes are longer and wider than they were in the past. Case in point, there are few full hook-ups to include sewer sites in any park. The manager was very nice. She was proud of the improvements done at her park. The digital locks on the latrine doors were appreciated. 1. Thousand Trails has done a deplorable job maintaining roads and campsites. We are now 2 for 2 in damage to our new motorhome. Our tire was damaged pulling out of our campsite at South Jetty. There are sharp rocks at the edge of E152 that should be removed. The orange cone is not helpful. 2. South Jetty sites are not wide enough for large motorhomes. 3. Restrooms and toilet areas are wrought with mold and old paint. 4. $50 for honey wagon service is ridiculous! 5. Full hook up sites are limited. 6. Roads and campsites need to have gravel put down in areas prone to flooding. Given the wet environment, the whole park needs road maintenance. This was our last stay at South Jetty. We left South Jetty early. We went to a county park that had full hook ups and was well maintained. We pay annual dues for maintaining park infrastructure. Funds are clearly not being applied where they are needed. Buyer beware!!!!! - PissedoffTTmember

Love this place. Great people, great location, and perfect family getaway. No cell service and WiFi is email only at best. Perfect for escaping. - Ridegmx
Aug 2018 - $47.00
This is a rustic park right on Loon Lake. The setting is just beautiful. Families have been vacationing at this park for years. It was fun hearing kids of all ages laughing and having fun. Everyone was respectful of the quiet hours. It is about 15 miles from Reedsport to the park and takes 40-60 minutes depending on traffic and your comfort in driving a two lane twisty road. If you are not comfortable, just go slow. It is worth the drive to be at this park. Everyone welcomed us with open arms. Our check-in was fast and friendly, site was level. Check in is at the lodge. WiFi was good. Sites are dirt, but roads are gravel. Cable TV was limited to only about ten channels. No Verizon or AT&T data or voice cell phone service due to remoteness of the location. We interacted with the staff a couple of times during our stay and all were positive. Some sites are under huge trees and others are in full sun. This part of the country has had no rain all summer so grass is very thin and brown. Utilities work well and are placed well. This was a last minute reservation for us as we wanted out of the smoke inland from all the fires. We are so glad we found this gem of a park and will definitely plan to return. - JanneC
Sep 2017 - $43.00
We stayed at the Park after Labor Day, the second week in September. Our check-in was fast and friendly, site was level, WiFi was good. Sites are dirt, but roads are gravel. Cable TV was limited to only about ten channels. No Verizon cell phone service. We interacted with the staff a couple of times during our stay and all were positive. We found the Park quite, with only a few other rigs in the lower section of the Park. Many of what use to be RV sites have been turned in to camping cabins in the Upper Section of the Park. We could see that during the summer or weekends the Park could be busy with families and potentially noisy, especially in the lower section by the marina. We will return to the Park, but it will be mid week, off season. - Nomad 1

Noise from nearby highway is intrusive. Bathrooms are badly in need of remodeling and repainting. 30 amp service only. Voltage varied from 103 to 109 volts, causing my low voltage protector to shut off frequently. Management explained that the power system "was from the 1960's" and needed to be upgraded. I would not plug any rig in here without a low voltage protector. WiFi was a good signal and fast. TV cable reception produced a somewhat fuzzy; snowy picture on most channels. Trees prevented my rooftop satellite dish from receiving a signal, but that's not the park's problem. Sites have a foliage divider between them. - wandering Burro

New name is Oregon coast RV resort. Terrible muddy conditions, and nasty standing water everywhere, mosquitoes are infested. Pot holes throughout. Customer service is bad, fake smiles and not courteous once you pay.. - Gotchayetagainha
Nov 2016 - $32.00
I chose this park due to the previous reviews mentioning that there were new owners who are making an effort to clean up the park and remedy past woes. I don't think they're ready for prime time yet. If I had it to do over I'd go elsewhere. The campground is no longer called Surfwood. It is now the Oregon Coast RV Resort. While the new owners are friendly offered good service, the sites were narrow with water filled ditches bordering each site. The site was grass and muddy since we had had rain prior to our arrival. Several dogs were running loose from their owners sites. I had some concern while hooking up to leave of one dog from a nearby site with no owner in sight. I'm sure the owners are special people, but they need to have concern for others and keep their dogs under control. - 15243

Nothing special about this park, but it's close to town. Both pull-thru and back-in. All sites have grass. Cable is through a company that uses a box to be connected to your TV. Bit it works well. Antenna only gets one local channel. All sites are asphalt, with an asphalt patio with picnic table. - ta96silver

Office staff slow to return reservation request prior to visit. Office staff very welcoming and great customer service! WiFi is nearly non-existent. Very slow and fails to connect. Unable to work on computer. We have Verizon unlimited which is generally great. Gale force winds decrease the enjoyment of the beautiful area. If you need WiFi & Internet, do not stay here. - Hall Family
Oct 2013 - $30.00
Dove into this park after getting the "eebie jeebies" at a different park one mile previously up the road. Greeted by a friendly person who processed my credit card but didn't make me fill out any kind of form since I was staying one night. Friendly person let me pick from a variety of sites within the Wi-Fi range. Sites are gravel, and are fairly wide. Good thing the sites are wide, because if the park is full, there isn't any space between the sites. The wideness of the sites makes up for the lack of space between the sites. There is a very nice fish cleaning station. Wi-Fi worked great! Cable TV had a wide selection of channels and great digital reception surprisingly for cable. The web site indicated there are showers and laundry, but I didn't get to see those. Very short walk to eating establishments, but be careful, the short walk is on busy Highway 101. There was some road noise, but not bad from my site. Decent place to overnight on your way down Highway 101. This park is open year round. - DXSMac

This was perfect for the two of us. Good cell and wifi service. Enjoyed crabbing and riding atvs in the sand dunes - dlfishing
Jul 2017 - $24.00
Stayed here for 9 days while enjoying the Sand Dunes near by. We picked this campground blindly not knowing much as it was our 1st time. It's a little ride to Dunes by means of path on side of road that is in a 25mph zone, I felt comfortable with my kids 8/10 riding on side of road to Dunes and you probably won't be alone. If you plan on visiting during summer you better book early. Me and friends book over 4 months out and couldn't get side by side sites. Our site was up against hillside and don't get much sun do to tall trees behind you. May plan another trip to area in future and would stay here again but Dunes are small compared to our treasured Glamis Sand Dunes but still fun. Other Dunes in Area I'd like to check out next time. Pleasant stay. - 01Bandit01
Sep 2016 - $25.00
Arrived to find several families in our paid and reserved site with trailer, EZ-up and 2 tents. They pretended to not understand English. Camp host was 'off duty' - nowhere to be found. Obviously did not do their job vacating reserved sites. A lot of ATV activity obvious, busy park. We moved on - would never stay here again. If they don't change their camp host, plan on paying and not receiving what you pay for. - Nevada Nick

Nov 2019 - $41.00
Call for actual prices, because website is not up-to-date. Unfortunately price went up 25% this year. Presently worth the money, but I doubt this will be the case in a few years. Depicted rate is winter rate. Friendly staff. Concrete level sites. Heated, very clean, modern shower area and restrooms. Laundry with new washing machines and dryers. Excellent Wi-Fi, even when campground had high occupancy. Cable TV was a little distorted. Very quiet, only thing you hear is the ocean. - Bluesbirdy

Clean park and friendly staff. They are located on a jetty so when the wind blows you are exposed to it! - dbfay
Aug 2019 - $44.00
What can I say that hasn't been said by myself on past visits, and many others who have reviewed this great RV resort. It sets an example for what an RV "resort" should be. Situated on a jetty out in a beautiful fishing harbor and marina, it has all the amenities one would hope to have other than a swimming pool that is really not needed due to it being surrounded by water on three sides. We have stayed here each summer for four summers now and have our reservations made for 2020 as that's how booked they are during the summer months. Check out their website for all pertinent information you need as I've gone into detail with a picture on other reviews of past visits. There is no better RV park or resort on the Pacific ocean but there certainly are some that are a lot more expensive. The rates have gone up this year as there is an expansion coming soon. We received the rate from last year due to making our reservations before we left then. Check it out. If you like the ocean, the fresh air, and some great seafood in the immediate area, you won't find better. - BankShot

Quiet, lots of greenery, right near a hike-able lake (1 mile hike), family friendly. - beckydmc
Jun 2018 - $30.00
This is a very quiet, small, older campground that has been well cared for. It is located in a heavily forested area which is great for keeping the temps cooler in the summer. The upper area near the entrance that has 7 full service sites and one with just W/E. All are relatively flat and range in length from 40 to 56 feet. The lower area has mostly tent sites with a few W/E sites, 2 small log cabins, Yurts and Deluxe Yurts. Showers and restrooms are located in the lower area and if you are in that area its great. If you are in the upper are you have to walk - down if fine but the walk up will definitely increase your heart rate. The centrally located trash bin is half way between the two areas. The Park Rangers and Hosts were all very pleasant and eager to answer any questions. Sites were tidied up quickly after campers left and the rest rooms and showers were cleaned daily. The only negative for us is that the water pressure in the upper area was VERY low. - Chabago
Jun 2018 - $30.00
Actually did not stay here for several reasons. After our experience being unable to get into a site at Sunset Bay State Park we drove the few miles north to check out our reserved site at this park. Again it was very tight with a lot of trees but we could have gotten into our site relatively easily. However, 10 night reservation w/o a full hook-up, shower room quite far away with no parking area, meaning a walk to get there, and no dump station worked against it. Add lack of sat service due to heavy tree cover and we decided to cancel our reservation and go to Winchester Bay RV Resort in Coos Bay. - Dennis M
