Nice little COE park along a tributary river to the Columbia River. Quiet. Easy access. Pit toilet in RV loop, but clean and odor free. Showers are in day use area. Old, but functional. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Small John Day River COE campground located where this river empties into Columbia River. Tent area is separate as is picnic area. Can be windy. Fishing popular with most campers here. Place was neat and clean. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

The pull through sites were perfect for a big rig! Roads were wide enough and well marked. Water and electric service at each site. Very high water pressure- use a reducer. Pretty isolated, but a lovely setting along the river, somewhat protected from the west winds along the Columbia River valley. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

A great park along I-84 with easy access. The climb above the campground is a bit unnerving in a big rig, but it's totally doable. The pull through sites are loops off the the interior road and are long enough to pull in without unhooking your tow vehicle. You can step out your door and sit on the bank of the John Day river. Solid 50A power, good Verizon cell/data, and no obstructions to TV satellites. Road noise from the interstate bridge and trains can be annoying but not enough to be bothersome. Friendly hosts and rangers, great price - a great place to overnight. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Motorhome.

A small Corps of Engineers campground on the John Day River, this is a great place to spend a few days. Sites were good-sized and long enough to fit most rigs. Back-in sites may require some extra maneuvering to get into because of the pull-through sites in front of them. The man at the gate was very helpful to us when we asked to change sites because of issues trying to back into our original site. He took care of it right way, no questions asked. Good Verizon MiFi, Dish Satellite and AT&T cell coverage. We'll definitely stop here again when we are passing through the area. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy on/off from the interstate for a quick overnight stay, but I certainly wouldn't rule out staying longer. The pull through sites are right on the river with amazing views (no grass) but this is a very popular park on the weekend with campers, boaters, barking dogs, haphazard parking of boat trailers, other vehicles infringing on your site, and loud kids. Not to mention trains and interstate noise. Still, a lovely small COE with nice water/electric only sites, a nice beach, and a very nice large grassy area. If you can, skip the weekends. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Motorhome.

I really like this campground on weekdays, but if last weekend is typical, I would give it a 5 on weekends. There were just too many people and too many big, noisy jetboats. Plus every site seemed to have multiple vehicles and a lot of people for this small place. Without the big boats and weekend crowds, this is a really lovely place with nice views across the John Day River, and I plan to come back. Sites and roads have very good pavement. The pull-thru sites are right along the river, but even the back-in sites have a fairly good view, though they are closer together than the pull-thru sites. There are showers in the tent/day use area, but only basic toilets in the regular campground. Also, I had asked about Verizon service being "adequate" as someone had posted, and I would say that it is NOT adequate. I was able to use my data hotspot only very late at night and early in the morning, and even then, service was slow. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Motorhome.

Do your grocery shopping before you get here because there is nothing available for quite a few miles. Do visit the dams, however, while you are here.

Our site was waterfront and just beautiful! It was a little noisy because there is a train bridge and -I84 crosses John Day very close to the park, but it is a quiet zone so trains don't blow their whistle. There is a little playground for the kids and a small swimming area that our kids enjoyed (both are under 10) - they had life jackets available (FREE) and several covered picnic tables on the beach area. Beach consisted of sand, rocks and some stinky mud - but that might change depending on the weather. Heat wave while we were there, well over 100 degrees. Pull thru sites were easy enough for my husband, long bed truck pulling a 24' trailer (which is really 27' long). Restrooms closest to RV sites were primitive, but clean and well stocked. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Another fine COE park. Even though it sits at the floor of a canyon we still managed to get a T-Mobile signal good enough for Netflix but no OAT. When I pulled in to make sure the power/water poles would clear our slide, extended it and went around a notice that the extremely high curb around the utilities island cleared the bottom of the slide by less than an inch (after the stabilzers were down). The only showers we found were over in the day use area and there is just one dumpster at the exit. Not bad for a short stay, but a longer one would probably get frustrating. The only reason I didn't give this park a 10 is because they didn't have sewer hook ups. This park is beautiful. We parked right on the river. Pull-through space. The price was Golden Access pass but even at full price of $25, it's worth it! I saw reviews that said not easy to navigate. We were in a 35ft motorhome with toad and had no problems. Definitely will stay again. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Motorhome.

Some of the best pull-thru sites we've stayed in. The entry road winds it's way above the park area and looks a bit sporty, but was no problem for our 40' MH. The pull-thru sites are very long and result in your passenger side looking out over the river. Everything is paved, but there is some grass along the riverbank. Great views of the John Day river and the bridge where it intersects the Columbia. Some road and train noise from the bridge but nothing significant. No obstructions to satellite RV and our Verizon cell/data was satisfactory. The rate of $12.50/night with the senior pass is an exceptional bargain, but only if you reserve a pull thru site since the back-ins are rather short and under trees. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Motorhome.

Small CG tucked into cliffs. The road entering the park was confusing to us as it looked so twisty and narrow. The park attendant at the window gave no advice as to if we should unhook before we drove up the road. Luckily someone came in with a large truck towing a large boat, they meandered through ok so we followed. Our site was a pull through paralell to the water and we had a great view. There are back in sites also. The showers and flush toilets are in the tent/marina area. The beach is also there, just a little walk. You had a distant view of the highway traffic and trains but the noise was not an issue. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Motorhome.

This is a lovely small campground right on the river. The few pull-thru sites are within steps of the river, with beautiful views. There is a small swimming beach but the beach and water are small pebbles, so you may want water shoes. All surfaces are asphalt. Picnic tables are provided. There is a dump station but no sewers. They had suffered a water main break the day we arrived, so there was no water at the sites but there is a water tap you can use to fill your tank. The restrooms are pit toilets only, no washing facilities. Sites at the back of the park are very quiet. We heard nothing from I-84 or the train tracks. There is no wifi and no ATT cell service. For $12.50 a night, it is a bargain! We camped at LePage Park COE in a Motorhome.

Beautiful surrounding mountains and lake. RV section of park is small with a sharp narrow turn to get down to sites. Sites are narrow back-ins and pull thrus. Hairy backing 40' 5th wheel in with trees & narrow pad. Site backs up to cliff, W&E only, table and close to neighboring sites. T-mobile nil at site but works up hill at gatehouse. RV section bathrooms are pit toilets. Showers/flush toilets are in tent camping area. Has a beach & fishing piers. Would stay here again. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.
