We stayed here on our way to Montana. The park is located at the county fairgrounds, so need to be careful what days you book this park. All services worked well, with the internet very user friendly. It was not crowded for our overnight. Many families were using tents as well as rafting groups who had just finished a day on the Deschutes River. We met a group of Oregon motorcyclists(over 50)who have been coming here for the last 15 years. The sites were gravel and level. - dogdav

We enjoyed our stay at Pine Hollow. We stayed during the week so the resort was not crowded and we had lots of space around us. The sites are not level and we needed several layers of jack pads to level us. We were fortunate to have no one at the site behind us so we could do a pull through and have plenty of room for our 38' rig. If the park had been full we would have been squeezed in. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The lake is very low but we enjoyed the water and cleanliness of the beach area. We saw no debris at any time in the area and the picnic tables appeared to be new. The only down fall, not the resorts issue, were the mosquitoes. Bring lots of Deet. It was nice to have the Angler Restaurant and Bar on the premises. Met lots of nice people. There is an area of summer full-timers in residence in the resort who were friendly and helpful. - KariS

I suppose relying on a review from 2007 was a bad idea, as that was the last time anyone wrote about this place. The pictures are not even close to telling the truth. We knew the moment we pulled in that we had made a mistake. The grounds were littered with cigarette butts, burned cans, trash, broken picnic tables and truck tire rims as fire pits. Your neighbors are so close you may as well have been in an apartment! NONE of the sites are level, so unless you brought lots and lots of wood or leveling pads you were out of luck! The sites were so small that our car had to parked sideways in front of our 24' trailer. The playground had old outdated and dangerous toys for the kids and with all the weeds, good luck with the horse shoes. The lake had trash floating in it and under the water, the shore had trash and cigarette butts. The cost did not include our dog ($5.00 extra???) and for $2.00 deposit you were given a hotel card key to the restrooms: YUCK! They are filthy and need to be torn down! GROSS showers, mold, mildew, gross toilets and a hand dryer that never did work. The folks running the place were crabby at best and didn't really seem to care. I'm sure they don't even wash the card keys as they pass them onto the next person. We were totally disappointed and will never recommend or go here again. - Pleahy

I'm writing a review about this park because people need to know it exists. We have stayed there twice in the last two years while doing business in the The Dalles area. Worth the 45 minute commute. The park is situated on a beautiful lake framed with pine forest, private vacation cabins, and views of Mt. Hood to the west and rolling green farmland and high desert scenery to the east. This is a fantastic place to visit with kids. The park has a wonderful sandy beach and swimming area, a recently upgraded dock/marina, boat/jet ski rentals, lakeside restaurant/lounge (with a pretty lively nightlife), a small store, playground, nasty little video arcade, laundry, and showers. If you can't deal with dust, kids, and the general commotion and half-run-down condition of the place it's probably not for you. There is a section with (I'm guessing) around 70 fulltime units stacked in on top of each other like a basket of dumped toys. These are for the most part not intrusive to the rest of the park and inhabited by folks who spend every weekend fishing there. All the negatives aside we have a blast with our kids there. They never get bored and the beauty of the surroundings make it OK for Mom and Dad too. This is one of those places that makes me wish I'd won the lottery just to be able to make it worthy of it's location and potential. - alfadon

We stayed one night. The RV campground is not designed for TV's. It was like being a sardine with cars parked everywhere and every which way. Bathrooms we disgusting and not near enough for the amount of units in the campground. I would definitely not stay there again! - Yepp
Aug 2017 - $39.00
Too many trailers/tents squeezed into too small a location. Too long a walk to the showers from the trailer location. On the river, some rafting done from this location. No place to park your tow vehicle that doesn't put it in a position to get hit. Picnic table was half rotted with pieces missing. - hartk
Jun 2015 - $32.00
This is a City Park un-like most! Nice campground, other than sights close to each other. Right on the river, great for rafting and fishing and all the services close by. Make sure and check out the other side, nice sights, and very clean restroom with showers. Full hook-ups and good WIFI no ATT cell service. - laears

Sep 2016 - $14.00
Completely agree with previous reviewer, a great place to stay if you don't require resort amenities and excellent value especially with the "Geezer Card". No question, we WILL return for a longer visit. An added bonus was no tents. This park is for 'self contained" units only as there are no facilities. Water in this park has a high mineral content so flush before connecting. - Procarver
Sep 2016 - $28.00
Very nice RV only campground. There are no showers, pit toilets, or WIFI. Tents are not allowed. However, each site has the basics that an RV needs: water, electric, and sewer. The sites also have nice picnic tables and fire rings with cooking grates. Sites have great separation from your neighbor so they are private, secluded and quite. Although the sites are back in only there is plenty of room to maneuver. Not too far from the great things to see and do around Mt. Hood. - JABMPM

Jul 2017 - $25.00
I stayed here for 2 nights in site 4 while passing through with a 27 foot motorhome with a tow car. The price was for a full hookup site with 30 and 50 amp power. I don't believe they have a dump station. Have to admit my review of this park is highly colored by the fact my previous campground was a COE park in the Columbia River Gorge which may have been the noisiest campground I've ever been. I-84 and trains amplified by the Gorge. Here I got a babbling brook right behind my site. I could have given this a 10 just for the peace and quiet. It's only 15-20 minutes from the interstate and for folk traveling I-84 who can't take the noise -- and most of the campgrounds along I-84 are right in the Gorge -- this is an excellent alternative. This is a city park with 15 fairly rustic RV sites, some of which are full hookups. The rest of the park is a ball field and a day use area with a playground and a very nice swimming pool -- adults only on Friday and Saturday nights. The sites are on grass and are all back-in and are not evenly spaced. Not much in the way of shade until late afternoon. Public picnicking areas are interspersed between the sites. Most if not all back up to the brook which is clear and beautiful and comes from Mount Hood. The manager is on site and very helpful. The park is very tidy and well maintained. About half the sites were occupied while I was there. The town of Dufur is very small but quite nice -- great downtown market that carried everything and served food and ice cream. Verizon was perfect (there's a tower on a hill beside the town). I didn't use the restrooms. - SoloRed
Jul 2012 - $25.00
This is a city run park in Dufur. The host is extremely helpful and does a great job running and taking care of the campground. Most of the sites are back-in next to a creek and facing the ball field. Very clean bathrooms. We would stay again. - spitfirepete

Dec 2014 - $20.00
Basic, no-frills park that caters to long-termers working on nearby construction projects. Excellent for us lower-income, retired folks as long as you have your own bathroom. Wifi worked great. Staff very friendly and helpful; I called in from 15 miles out and he was there waiting for me to guide me in the dark to my spot. I wouldn't bring children, a Big Rig or anything with slide-outs here if I were you. - Old Mountain Man
Sep 2013 - $20.00
Sites are very narrow, dirt and gravel and uneven. Neighbors awning protruded into our site. NO TV! Too much emphasis placed on grass. Limited space for towed vehicle. - SmokeyBear
Jul 2008 - $20.00
Nice clean park with wonderful hosts. Small park with some long term residents. Spaces were nicely shaded and adequate for big rigs. No bathrooms, no pool, no game room, no laundry, no Wi-Fi. Just a nice, quiet place with full hook-ups to spend a night or two. If you need more - go someplace else. Cost was $20 per night when we were there. Payment by cash or check only. About 12 miles south of The Dalles, Oregon on SR 197. Coordinates: 45d 27'04.66" N and 121d 07' 44.85" W Address: 10 NE Aiken St., Dufur, OR - Gerry Brentnall

Apr 2014 - $1.00
We stayed in the free camping area. Clear Lake is a gorgeous lake that is riddled with trash, broken beer bottles, and human waste. Campers have managed to completely trash the grounds. The fishing has always been good when we've been there but after one night, I wasn't feeling safe and was ready to go. - Roadtrippinmama

Peaceful, spacious, and private campsites near a beautiful mountain lake. Hard to imagine a better camping spot. - cosmos
Sep 2006 - $18.00
This is a Mount Hood National Forest Service campground and we really enjoyed our stay. It is located approximately 9 miles east of Government Camp on highway 26 and about a 2 miles off of the highway on a paved road. Stay on Forest Route 2630/220, don't turn right until you get to the campground. We were there after Labor Day and there were only a few people camping. The campsites next to the lake are $18.00 and the others are $16.00 a night. There is water but it's a hand pump. Vault toilets are provided and were clean. The elevation is 3600 ft. so it did get cold at night. Very busy on holidays and weekends but, you can make reservations through Reserveamerica. If the campground had pressure water so we could have filled our tank we would have stayed longer and I would have given it a 10. We will be returning next year for sure!! - jannie5

Aug 2010 - $18.00
This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds we've ever stayed in, and we've done a lot of camping. There's only one big problem, road noise from the highway which runs along the cliff above the campground. Although you can't see the cars or trucks, you can hear them, all day and all night. Our campsite was right on the creek running through the campground, and we could still hear the trucks' engine brakes, despite the splashing water in the creek. Other than that, it's great, the sites are widely spaced, the trees are large, there's lots of shade and the whole thing is well-managed by a representative of Thousand Trails. The bathrooms are "vaults," but they are clean. Unfortunately, almost all of the forest service campgrounds near Mt. Hood are right near the highway, next time, we would probably stay in a more out-of-the-way place and "commute" to Mt. Hood. - Prof Dan

Jan 2019 - $21.00
A little too expensive for what you get, but still a lovely, wooded campground with nearly-level sites for small to medium-sized RVs just off a paved road. Near Timothy Lake and a lot quieter. The main attraction is a geological curiosity: a large, crystal-clear spring. If you walk around in the nearby meadows, you can get glimpses of Mt. Hood. Mostly sightseeing and a little bit of hiking. Access to the Pacific Crest Trail. Other activities (boating, fishing, etc.) at nearby Timothy Lake. - Old Mountain Man

Sep 2017 - $30.00
As others have said larger vehicles are somewhat of a problem in the full hookup sites. But, very manageable. The sites are wide and well laid out we were in #11. The maximum stay is 7 days. But, if there is room you can just move to a different spot for the next 7 days. Lots and lots of trees so no wifi, no satellite. We have T-Mobile and could only get a signal away from the campsite. Everything else worked very well. The campground hosts were Lori and Tom. They are hard workers and really keep all reservations and the sites in good shape. For a very restful stay give it a try. - bdixon2297526
Jun 2017 - $30.00
Great campground! All area's are cleaned each day by the camp-hosts. Nice quiet park. Big rigs over 40' can be a challenge, but will work. LOTS of trees, so not a good place for satellite tv. No wifi. Verizon & AT&T work with about 2-3 bars in this area. Full hook ups in what is called the RV LOOP only. The rest have power and water, but there is a dump station for campers to use as part of the payment. - tomandlori
May 2017 - $30.00
We love a park like this. Beautiful hidden gem half way between Hood River and Mt. Hood. RV sites with FHU and separate tent loop. There's 2 loops with partial hook ups and some sites on the rivers edge. Quiet and peaceful. Nice place for families. No hiking trails in the park but tons of trails for both hiking and mountain biking in the area. Camp hosts very helpful and deliver firewood to your site! We have both Verizon and AT&T and get enough bars to stream. - BobKat Parker
