Overall Rating:

This is a campground that sits next door to a real working water powered grist mill also owned by the family. Owner checked us in and is very pleasant to deal with. Pull through FHU sites are the back to back in the middle with back in sites, water and electric, along the outer edges. I had two problems with our site. The neighbor next door had probably the most trashy site I have ever seen at a campground, with cans and trash strewn about and nonburnable trash in the fire pit. Good news was that his site was our hook up side so after getting things set up, we just pulled our shades down and the mess was not in view. Unfortunately we had another problem on the other side. There was a full time kennel set up with two large dogs that barked at everything that went by, that included us as we entered or exited our trailer. Rules we were handed prohibited that, so I was surprised this was allowed. Had I known how bad it was going to be, I would have asked for another site and I am sure the campground owner would have let us move, but we were all set up when we realized the full extent of the problem and only being here for one night, we decided to just put up with it. Bathrooms were in desperate need of renovation. They were clean but toilets were cracked and showers were dark and dingy. The PA turnpike runs right beside the camp but it is elevated higher than the campground so road noise was not as noticeable as it could have been. There was a bridge over a creek and some trails to walk in the shady woods with a table for a picnic as well. They had a very nice playground for children and a few other games as well. This campground would get higher ratings from me if some sites would be cleaned up and they did not have a "double standard" for dogs. I would stay here again but would pick my site more carefully with the help of the owner. We camped at Ye Olde Mill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The camp store is a restored 1765 log cabin. They have a lot of food products including hand dipped ice cream and locally sourced meats. They also make sandwiches and we had a sub that was very good. Grist mill is only open for tours on Sunday but would have liked to have seen that.

We spent the night there on our way home. In our opinion, the restrooms were a shade above primitive. The best thing going for it was the cable system with all the channels. We camped at Ye Olde Mill Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park needs some serious TLC. First of all check in was very pleasant. The gentlemen behind the counter was friendly and welcoming. The store offered lots of items and there's a great sandwich counter. The hook ups at our site worked fine. We were close to our neighbor, who thankfully was alone and quiet. Restrooms and laundry need updating badly. The overall look of the park is old and needs a lawn mower and some sprucing up. Needs to get rid of the junk hanging around. It's very close to the highway and we found it extremely noisey. This park has real good potential but don't see myself staying there again. Not worth the cost. We camped at Ye Olde Mill Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is worth the stay to see the Old Grist Mill and there is a good selection of deli items and groceries in the store. My site was level and utilities were easy to access. WiFi is excellent. Stayed right after Memorial Day holiday so very quiet. There is some highway noise but could not hear it from my rig in the middle of the park. Just what I needed for an overnight stay and happy to stay another right when rain delayed my leaving. Back in sites have shade. We camped at Ye Olde Mill Campground in a Motorhome.

We have been coming here for years before the owners that are here now. The store has everything you need. We can grab a sub when we get back and if I don't feel like cooking. What we love is they now have sewer; especially, where your going to be here a couple of months. Don't have to pull off or pay to be pumped. I don't know if it's me or what, but the site width seems smaller. They have enlarged the campground and it seems we are awful close to our neighbor. I asked and was told no but I think they have. The WiFi works when it wants to. I have a back up but it still is frustrating when they advertise WiFi. Anything negative will not prevent us from coming back. These folks go out of their way to do their best. It's just off the turnpike, so snowbirds give it a try. They turned things around and you don't even hear the turnpike anymore.

This is a no frills campground and it's nice to just relax. We camped at Ye Olde Mill Campground in a Motorhome.

Next door is Cowans Gap. A PA state park. Beautiful. We take a picnic lunch over there and enjoy watching people swim or in their boats. To get to Chambersburg, go through Cowans Gap, take right at bottom of curvy hill, at end go left on 30 to Chambersburg. Can take 30 straight to Gettysburg....probably 45 min drive if little traffic.

Just needs some TLC on facilities. Store well stocked. Sites close together. Slide was only two feet from next site's awning. Looks like some of guest are living here. No cell service. Wi-Fi was weak at best. Will not return We camped at Ye Olde Mill Campground in a Motorhome.

The rate reflects a Passport America discount. We called ahead and reserved a full hookup pull-through spot. Our spot was a pull-through but I guess they don't understand what full hookup is...there was no sewer hookup available. They offer a "honey wagon" service for an additional $5. They also have a dump spot that is located on the passenger side of the RV, as you leave. The roads were gravel, as was the site, which was level. The laundry room was somewhat clean and had several washers and dryers. The camp store was well stocked with a variety of food items at reasonable prices. We would stay again on a passing through basis. We camped at Ye Olde Mill Campground in a Motorhome.

Campground is near the highway, but you don't hear much noise. Place was pretty full with pipe line workers staying by the month. Owners are nice. Bathroom and showers are the worst I've seen. I didn't dare touch anything and wouldn't use them. Has electric and water hookups, WiFi, and cable TV. We camped at Ye Olde Mill Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice folks in office. Kept up nice and large long spaces for long rigs. Good pull thru sites, nice and level. Stay as close to office as possible if you need strong wifi. Office Lady worked hard to make it work better, even came to our motorhome to see if we could get on wifi. Worked faily well after that. I am on it now typing this, so working well. Lots of truck traffic noise from freeway. Would stay here again if we were passing thru. if you want passport price must stay Mon thru Thru. Not Friday like us. Several pull-through 50amp sites suitable for big rigs were available. All well graded gravel pads surrounded by grass. Grass was well maintained and the sites were level with a number of shaded back-in sites. The pull-through sites had no trees. The staff was friendly and helpful. Greatest negative about this campground is the proximity of the Interstate highway. There was a lot of road noise which made sleep difficult. Otherwise a clean campground at good Passport America rates. We camped at Ye Olde Mill Campground in a Motorhome.

The rate is Passport America. This is a small campground in an open field along the Pennsylvania Turnpike so there is a lot of noise. A pretty creek flows along one edge. The bathhouse is old and there was the smell of mold. We would stay here again if Turnpike travel called for it. We camped at Ye Olde Mill Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very pleasant operation, very friendly and helpful owners. Has on site store, this not a resort but a fun, regular folks campground. No sewer hookups but has a dump station. They operate a grist mill on site and sell some of their own products. Some highway noise behind you but you hardly notice. We stayed two nights while visiting the East Broad Top Railroad at Rockhill Furnace, PA. Also a Good Sam park. Would stay here again if in the area. DO NOT TRY TO ENTER THE CAMPGROUND FROM THE S.E. if you are as large as we are. Follow the campgrounds directions from their website. Though there is a dump station on the grounds, you must enter against the one way signs to gain access. Management expects this to happen, but it is disconcerting at first. The campground is located right beside the PA turnpike so if you are bothered by noise this is not the place for you to stay. We were on a 50 amp site and the power was excellent regardless of the load. We use an air card and the reception for it, cell phone, and the satellite were excellent. I noticed that the park had a Wi-Fi signal, but it was only one bar at our mid-campground site. We were here to photograph the fall colors and would stay here again. We camped at Ye Olde Mill Campground in a Motorhome.
