Jun 2017 - $30.00
nice quiet park next to Woodcock Lake. Excellent fishing, canoeing, kayaking, Trails to walk. Large sites that are not bunched together. - Sonshine Traveler
May 2016 - $27.00
This is a city park that was created by the Corps of Engineers. You can find the park on Recreation.gov but you cannot make a reservation. The campground is open between Memorial Day and Labor Day. There is camping allowed prior to Memorial Day and after labor day on an honor system basis. This is a 1st come, 1st served park except for holidays, when up to one half of the sites may be reserved.
This is an old park but it is clean and well maintained. There are 75 sites with 30 amp electric, the rest have no electric. Most of the sites share electric with another site. There is no water in the campground but there is water as you enter the area at the registration hut. There are no sewer hook-ups but there is a dump station which is free to campers. The restrooms and showers are old but are clean and well maintained.
The campsites are paved but old. Most are flat but some have a severe slope. Several of the sites are wet and muddy after a rain. There is a lot of space between campsites. There is a picnic table and fire ring at each site but there are no grills.
The current rate is $27.00 for Electric and $22.00 with no Electric.
The campground website gives more information.
I would have given a higher Value rating if the restroom/showers were modernized.
This was our first time here and it was very pleasant. We will definitely camp here again. - dmoore1108
Sep 2018 - $48.00
Second time to visit Sparrow Pond in our 45', Class A motorhome w/tow. Quiet, gated park. We camped in Joey Circle which has no satellite obstructions. Site is crushed road pavement which is not that smooth, but other sites have smoother gravel. Full hook ups, picnic table. Park has a large pool, game room, fishing pond, large pavilions & activities. 6miles to Hwy 90. About 7-8 miles to Walmart, groceries, restaurants, etc. Roads are easy to navigate in this front area. - 2SimsNanRV
Aug 2018 - $54.00
Staff was helpful and courteous on the telephone and upon arrival. They provided a helpful packet with a map and additional information. The campground was clean and nice. The sites seemed a bit close. Each site had a good picnic table and fire circle. Dump station is available for a fee. There is no food service offered, although they sell some ice cream novelties. Friendly for dogs. - Osita5
May 2018 - $72.00
Let me begin by saying how KIND the staff is at Sparrow Pond was when I explained our dilemma. Our plans had changed unexpectedly when I fell very ill and the impetus to reach our final destination found us with nowhere to stay over the Memorial Weekend. A lovely staff member went beyond the norm and found a place for us, an overflow space that bordered a work area. We were grateful to find ANY space, and were pleasantly surprised to find that the view behind our rig was spectacular. The campground was filled with families and was really a cheerful place to spend the busy weekend. Kudos to Sparrow Pond and our sincere thanks to the very helpful staff member. You are the best. - jeanne gowan
Sep 2018 - $43.00
We went here with less than 24 hours notice due to our other destination being flooded. They had site available for us and friends and were very accommodating on such short notice. Sites we a bit dirty with lots of leave and branches down on the ground. Surface was a mix of gravel, dirty and grass. Our picnic table was very weathered and dirty. We were escorted to our site and offered assistance to back in. Campground is large compared to the number of sites. Lots of room to walk, including a trail that goes out around the back of the campground. Campground is close to many local attractions if you want to get out for a while. We were not given a print out of weekend activities at check in and learned after the fact of the wagon rides, bingo, fishing contests and jump pillow. Mini golf course is in disrepair and should be $1 or free considering. - JillaRoo
May 2018 - $46.00
Front office was friendly. Needed some slight assistance with hook ups and service was quick and efficient. Sites are grass, and due to heavy rains the ground was fairly soggy, but can't do anything about that. Attractive campground with lots of trees & nice ponds. Lots of activities for the kids if you have any. Some low hanging branches with new spring growth, but they trimmed as soon as they discovered the problem. - Ronzo Rig
Oct 2017 - $50.00
Stayed here during middle of week but it was clean, functional campground. The bathrooms near my campsite seemed old but someone obviously uses some elbow grease on a regular basis because the bathroom was spotless. I don't remember my site number but I used 50 amp hookup and it powered my rig with no issues. My only complaint was a utility light near my site that was left on all night. Seemed like overkill for a campground. - RVTraveler69
Oct 2010 - $24.00
At arrival, we felt very unwelcome. It is basically a fishing camp. Very rough road in and steep gravel hill to campsite, which was a pull through in basically a lawn. Grass was very high. Mostly older seasonals. We will not return. - Corninggirl
Oct 2009 - $22.00
Stayed here Halloween Weekend; cold, windy and raining but we had the river behind us. We did try steelhead fishing but the weather made it impossible. We would stay here again. Site had picnic table and fire ring. No one on either side of us so that was nice, roomy and the place was quiet. Mostly just fisherman so no kids around that I saw. Not much for them to do here. The road into the place is a bit rough and over all the place could be updated but was OK. We only used the electric, brought our own water and used dump station, which was nicely set up for use. - Ohiojude
Aug 2008 - $25.00
Easy access off I-90. The driveway in is a bit steep and a lot rough but doable for our 37' fiver. We had a pull-thru site right next to the pavilion/bath house and there were some guys hanging around there when we got to our campsite which made me a bit uneasy. However, soon found they were there for some Lake Erie fishing trips and were staying in the dorm-like rooms in the bath house section of the pavilion. Bathrooms were clean but small (3 showers/1 toilet on women's side) and could use a little updating. They are locked at night but you get a key when you check in. The creek was low in August; it seems their good fishing season is fall through spring. You can purchase PA fishing licenses and all your fishing gear at the store which is geared more for fishing than camping. There is a small catch-and-release pond on the grounds and Lake Erie fishing is 15 minutes away. Very quiet; beautiful scenery; swings, jungle gym and slide for the kids; volleyball net. I think the pull-thru sites are rather close together but since we were the only "big rig" there (most were seasonals), we had the whole area to ourselves. Would definitely stay here again. - PennyPA
Jun 2019 - $72.00
Great place to stay. Well kept and they show pride in keeping things clean and everything operational. - Russell Crago
Sep 2018 - $60.00
Nice park stayed 1 night on our way to Buffalo NY, friendly staff, very clean had a deluxe site. - tazman1953
May 2018 - $48.00
Stayed here before, but this time it was over Memorial Day. Very crowded. This is a family oriented park, so lots of activities for kids including bounce mat, pools, movies, huge playground, etc. Pros are the activities for kids and service of staff. Cons are the small, narrow, short sites. Sites are really jumbled so fit around all the cabins and trees. Sites and roads are dirt and gravel and are hard to maneuver a larger rig. Only a couple of sites for a 45' coach. Not much overflow parking so cars everywhere. Every site has a fire ring, and the smoke is heavy most all day and night. Many muddy areas despite no rain. One tiny dog run and one larger one that was soiled & muddy. Limited places to walk dogs on leash. Utilities good, but cable horrid. OTA TV was better. Might skip this place next time. - okdiver
Jun 2019 - $40.00
Very friendly owners that are continually updating and improving the park. The Owners inquired several times how our stay was going. - Superman23
Jul 2018 - $47.00
This is a perfectly charming park. Not very many short term sites, but the ones they have are very nice. They all have paver patios and picnic table. There is a fire ring at the sites as well. The management was very helpful and pleasant. We had to maneuver around a bit to finally get level. No issues with utilities. Wifi was new and spotty at best. Clear view for satellite. We would stay here again. - Vicki K
Jun 2018 - $40.00
I stayed 10 days at this park and was very pleased with the location and the care given to make the park pleasing to the eye. The owners were very accommodating to work scheduling with as I was willing to be flexible also. The sites have very nice and large paved patios. I highly recommend the park for one night or longer term stays. I have been a full time RVer for 15 years and this is one of my favorite parks. - Becky Macumber
Aug 2019 - $45.00
Mix of long term and short term campers. Unfortunately, we'd have liked it more if the timing of last week had not been before school started. Place was packed with kids running around. Every other camper also had a dog walking around. Our placement put us right at the pool and camp store walkway so seemed like everyone ended up walking by. Site was good with one for camper and adjacent for car. My entrance in was easy but looks like several would have tight turns in and out of site. Wifi was spotty for email. They do warn you that you may not have streaming capability depending on how many folks are using. Cable had good a selection of channels. - lefield
Jul 2018 - $44.00
This park was a nice stop fairly close to Presque Isle which we really enjoyed. The campground had permanents in the back and rentable sites as you entered. Staff was nice, park was quiet other than some playing children which we don't fault. We would stay again. - busyteach
Jul 2018 - $53.00
Nice pool but no life guard and people don't watch their kids. It has no diving, but kids just jump in. No kitchen. Bathrooms are very out dated and and rusty. At this site the table and fire ring were far away, and not a lot of space between sites. - Confer
Jun 2017 - $40.00
The spots are kind of small and the hookups are a bit old. It is very convenient location for us and the people are great. They say they are going to make major improvements this year. - Rick Stilley
Sep 2016 - $35.00
We stay there for 3 month in the summer. Just Love it there. VERY quiet in the week. But like most camp ground people do not come until the weekend. - MikeNtina
Oct 2015 - $27.00
We stayed at this park after a snafu with a reservation at another campground. It's not listed anywhere. It is located on a cliff overlooking Lake Erie with a long flight of stairs going down to the beach. We couldn't get DirecTV due to the trees, but there were about ten local channels. There is a Wi-Fi hotspot in the office. There is a large heated pool and there are probably a large number of campers and day visitors in season. It is very convenient to Presque Isle State Park. - RVerMJ
