I stay here 3-4 days per week in a tent on a primitive site. It’s very peaceful down by the river. Some of the RV spots look very tight to me, but my RV is a van so I would use a tent site even if I did sleep in my van there. I have a thousand trails zone Park pass. I think it was $450. Divided by the nights I’ve used it I’m at about $8/ night. I typically use it 6 nights per week. - MrBoondock

Price reflects Thousand Trails membership. Campground is slowly making improvements. They are starting to try and control site usage better as in suggesting sites that better fit the size of the unit and needs. They still need to level some sites and trim some trees but, in their defense, sites become filled as fast as they empty. Sometimes it is hard to get a nice transit sites as they are holding sites to become seasonal but, in a pinch, will let transits use them. Small improvement. - DBLR
Apr 2018 - $30.00
Some sites spacious, others crowded, not level but only took couple of boards on one side. WiFi didn't work...said wrong password and staff said " it should work". Not well designed. Host building about 1/2 mile away. Pick your own site. - Marie Hodgdon
Sep 2018 - $1.00
When we were at Hershey before we picked a site on the hill of Loop H. The 50 amp sites in that area don't have the $3 a day surcharge that is charged for all the other 50 amp sites in the campground. However, I must confess we got a bit tired of the big hill. For this stay we decided to check out Loop B. We found a great spot and felt we made an excellent choice. About all but the sites in Loop A (which has some very nice spots) are full hookup. Honestly, it isn't hard to find a nice campsite in this Thousand Trails. Every interaction we had with the staff was positive and we appreciated their helpfulness. My only complaint is the lack of internet connectivity. My Verizon signal was poor leaving me with only a fair data connect. Campground WiFi is only available at the Activity Center and it is even slower - think old time dial-up speeds. It isn't that the campground hasn't tried to supply WiFi. The area providers simply aren't willing to come out to the campground. My satellite TV signal was easy to dial in. There are many interesting things to see and do in the area as well as a nice pool and other facilities right on the property. Lots of shopping and restaurants are within 30 minutes. It is easy to see why Hershey Thousand Trails is one of the most popular campgrounds in the system. We are already thinking about our next visit. - nazpaz
Aug 2018 - $60.00
Hersey RV now Thousand Trails Campground. This is a time share type park. They will try to sell you memberships. $60p/n full hook up. Nice park, dated. Bathrooms 3 star. Good water pressure, must continually push button to get water, no fans, no air, gets hot and humid. There are exhaust fans but none work. All gravel roads and parking areas. Young lady showed us to spot, very nice. They warn on handouts about power loses and not to keep dogs in RV. We did lose power for several hours, went on generator (be prepared if your furbabies in RV). We were in 30' TT and had adequate space. Lots close together. Do not miss Strasburg Train ride and museum, well worth the 45 min drive. - orangebeachbum
Aug 2018 - $1.00
This is a Thousand Trails campground. When we arrived we were told the free 50 amp sites were up on a hill, the other 30/50 amp sites cost $3/night. Because it was forecasted to rain the night we arrived, we chose to take a (free 50 amp) site at the top of the hill. We were surprised how level the site was given it was on a hill. The site was narrow and you were close to your neighbor, but able to put out your slide outs and awnings and it was nicely shaded. The campground has many amenities including a nice clean pool, tennis courts, shuffleboard, miniature golf, catch and release pond where you can also kayak if you bring your own, arcade, sauna room, camp store with prepared food available, billiards and ping pong tables. This is a large campground so unless you have a golf cart or have a site near the activities, you will most likely drive to them. Bathrooms, showers and laundry available all in one building and were kept clean. - JVRich
Mar 2016 - $43.00
We had reservations and arrived to a closed office at 12:45 on a Monday afternoon. We called 3 different numbers trying to reach someone. We finally did and were told they would arrive shortly. By this time we had found a "nite check-in" service and along with instructions from the lady who returned our call, walked the campground looking for a site with services. We were told to look at sites 10-22, which all have full hook-ups at this time of year. Only one of these sites was anywhere near level - but large trees everywhere (and narrow roadways) would make it difficult to pull in and out of these pull-thru sites. A little gravel and a grater would go a long way towards fixing many of these sites. After walking the campground for 15 minutes and still struggling with where to park, we decided to leave. We will not return to this campground again. - Kemptvillekids
Dec 2015 - $16.00
Rate is figured on a months stay. Being in December can not judge how park is during peak time. Parked in area that has services available year round. Sites very close. Many permanent residents. Transient sites look to be much larger. Manager very nice. Can see they are attempting improvements. - phyllen
Sep 2015 - $43.00
This park is now called Jonestown AOK Campground and has been under new management for the past year. They are working on bringing the campground up to date. That being said, it looks like they pay the bills by allowing lots of older trailers to stay permanently onsite.
We needed a spot for one night on the Monday night of the Labor Day Weekend. We could not find cheaper accommodations so we picked this park as it was on our route.
The RV site was fine for us: it was level, had an adequate electrical service, water pressure was good at 50 psi, the sewer was fine but most access points in the park lacked a good sealing cap so there were sewer odors at times.
It was mostly quiet while we were there except for the locals leaving the park at 4:30-6:30am. We were located on an end site near the exit road. It appeared to be the transient RV site area.
If this was a Passport America park we would stay again. $22 would be more appropriate for this type of RV park. - Howard Jaros
Jun 2018 - $26.00
Made advanced registration but when we showed up at the entrance gate the gentleman said he did not have us on record. Nevertheless, he was very helpful and accommodating guiding us to a site. Turns out the office was closed on Sunday very early so there was no one to check with about the reservation and no one available (except the maintenance gent) to pay for the propane we obtained. It would have been nice if the person who took the reservation had told us these things before we showed up. Other than that the park was clean and neat. Since it was pouring rain most of our overnight stay we cannot comment on the facilities there. - Bob & Stephanie
Sep 2017 - $1.00
Very small spots in F section. We we so close to camper next to us that we could smell their sewer. I should have taken it as a warning when the ranger ask me how many blocks we had with us when we got there. No level spots and no way we had enough blocking. Weeds even in flower beds taller than us. And shooting nearby all day all weekend. Picnic table at site was black from weather. We will not use this campground again. - Rshoster67
Sep 2017 - $48.00
We stayed 2 nights for the Hershey RV show. Easy to get to from the interstate. It was a last minute decision so the park was very full. The extremely nice staff gentleman that met us at the gate and took us on a golf cart to all the site options that were still available to us was very helpful and kind. We picked a site that was easy to get in and out of. To be able to hook up to sewer we had to place our 5er so close to the side of the road that we were not able to extend our awning. The park needs lots of updating and maintenance. I did not go into the bathrooms or showers but my husband said I would not use them. Two of the showers were broke and in need of some serious cleaning. Our first night there we heard constant gun range shooting until past 8pm. There are quite a few of permanent sites and a few looked pretty "interesting" to say the least. The sites that had more privacy did not have sewer hook up but did have electric and water. Getting our RV in some of those sites with all the overhanging trees and tight turns would of been not worth the hassle for only 2 nights. I was grateful that we found a campsite on such short notice for the RV show but would not return there to camp again. - debwright
Jan 2019 - $42.00
The staff was more than helpful as we were running a little (two days) late and they accommodated us and changed our reservation. Bathrooms were really clean and even heated so showering was really nice. The store had a lot of options even in the off-season and the female staff member was really nice and a good conversationalist. We will definitely return. - Wesley Roll
Aug 2018 - $45.00
Near PA Amish country, quite when we were there. Nice pool and playground. lots of rain = lots of mud. A very nice place to visit. - Joe-Sandy
Jul 2018 - $55.00
Campground is dated. Bathrooms absolutely need an update. We were there simply because it was the closest campground to the Hershey area that wasn't booked. Sewer connections ran uphill from the trailer. Site was nowhere close to level. We wouldn't go again. - Skippy9842
Sep 2018 - $57.00
This was our second stay at this park. We stayed here for the RV show in Hershey. They provide a convenient shuttle to the show. We were in Site 30. Its a back in next to the creek. It has a concrete pad. Very nice site. Luckily we had a nice weekend with no rain and no threat from the creek. Unfortunately they have been flooded 3 times this year. The park looked good under the circumstances. They have a nice convenience/camp store with a nice menu of food that is very reasonable. Hubby had wings and i had a cheeseburger that was delivered to our site. Nice dog park and plenty of area to walk. Easy on and off 81. Even though they were booked full this weekend they left sites for weary travelers. They have many pull through sites. Had a nice visit with the owner on shuttle. Very nice family owned and run park. - handette
Jul 2018 - $48.00
This is a nice koa. Set up for campers with kids. River & kayaking. Great little short order grill & ice cream. Small market & store w fishing, camping supplies. A fantastic laundry room. A VERY hard rain fell flooding the campground and a wonderful woman ( employee) with rubber boots and shoulder length gray hair woke me in the morning to see if I wanted to stay. I chose to leave. Backing out of my site. She was joined by a younger woman. They stuck with me and made certain I was clear and no other campers were in danger. Nice park great employees. But without kids you might be spending foolishly. Gravel hard on dogs paws. I will stay here again. - Road Dawg
Jun 2018 - $45.00
Pros: Nice laundry room and shower/restrooms. Unfortunately it ends there. Cons: Welcoming staff not friendly at all. This campground serves food and they boast a large sign featuring hand-dipped ice cream in several flavors. But the same staff person said "We're out." We ordered dinner to be delivered to our site: broasted chicken, potato wedges, macaroni salad, and baked beans (cold). The chicken bordered on being burned; very overdone and dry! It was inedible and we threw it away. The "side" servings are not 4 ounces, they are 2 at best. Nothing was worth eating, just avoid that. Needless to say, I don't recommend this KOA. - sssccckkk1952
Sep 2017 - $60.00
OMG. Talk about false advertising! A pool--yes but has been in disrepair and unusable for years. Miniature Golf- yes but the putting greens have more moss than carpet and weeds adorn the course. Clean restrooms-- ha ha ha ha. Talk about gross, smelly and out of date. Even the washing machines are dirty The sites are grass covered and with the recent rains the big rigs are leaving huge ruts in the ground. No wifi or cable. There is a huge area with dumped nonworking machines, yard waste and even a 911 Porsche ( please someone rescue and restore that car). On a positive note, the owner is nice and tried to be accommodating for us. There is also a new dog park. Other than that, nature is reclaiming this park. Such a shame. - Dinky1
Aug 2017 - $45.00
This is an older park. The spaces were large with grass all around. Grass was well mowed. The park needs updating. The showers were clean but need improvements.Electricity was stronger than at a lot of parks. Quite a lot of seasonal campers. - Rkserv
Sep 2016 - $58.00
Run down park capitalizing on it's excellent location. Almost impossible to level in a park like this. Had to disconnect water because there was so much air in their pipes. Everything is in a state of disrepair. The electricity worked! - Todd Fogelberg
Oct 2018 - $40.00
We only stayed one night at this CG so did not really explore it very well. Easy on and off the interstate (5 miles). Large CG with a variety of different sites - some back-in, some pull-thru, some full hook-up and some not, etc. Lots of seasonal sites. Very well kept and maintained. Lots of amenities, especially for kids - large pool with slides, dog parks, restaurant, even an arcade! (I think some of this is only open in the summer.) Plenty of room to walk your dog. We would definitely stay here on a future trip. - virginianola
Oct 2018 - $45.00
Nice and clean RV park. Very well maintained. Significant full-timers/seasonal residents. Lots of kids running around who were respectful and no issue. Quiet hours were well respected. Had one of the nicer camp stores that I've seen. Cute little diner attached to store (didn't eat anything so can't say how good it was). Had multiple dog parks which were nice. Used the laundry services which were clean. Many activities going of for the smaller kids. Was there after the pool season, so can't comment on the pool facilities. Had slides which I'm sure would be nice when using the pool. Lot was pretty level and was next to large open space-- so had plenty of room for the dogs. Nice park with no issues. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if in the area. - StonewallFarms
Oct 2018 - $39.00
This park is very clean and has many good services. The check in was fast and efficient. Our site was level and had good spacing. The bathroom and showers were great. Each shower is in a separate room with a toilet and sink in addition to the shower. The wi-fi worked fine. The disc golf course is excellent and a real surprise. I also appreciated the multiple signs on the road leading to the park. There is an excellent camp store and a state park with bike trails next door. I would definitely stay here again. - lancecamper
Feb 2019 - $59.00
It is an expensive campground for what you get, but it is very convenient to the Hershey attractions. Reservations require a two night stay but we only needed one night so we simply pulled in. There was snow on the ground, roads were cleared, but no sites had been cleared, so I had to shovel my site out.
Pull through sites are short and close together, with utilities at the end of the site. Fine for our small trailer, but some would have trouble. All utilities worked as expected. Site was gravel and level. Roads were good and easy to navigate. There is a very busy rail line next to and above the park, but except for the train horn blasts, the area we were in was shielded from most of the train noise.
Shower house was clean and well appointed. Only interacted with staff on check-in, and they were friendly. There were few amenities available at the campground this time of year. - Cyclonic
Sep 2018 - $75.00
We stayed 3 nights and attended a concert at HersheyPark. The staff was great as was the office and camp store. Our site was a little short for our 38footer but plenty of room between sites. You will need extra water and sewer hose due to utility placement. Our site was level and graveled. If you are going to a concert or to the amusement park you can't beat this park. The shuttle bus saves you money and hassle from having to take your vehicle to the Park. It was expensive to stay here.. I don't know if they raised the price for the concert weekend or not. As always convenience and location is not cheap. Would definitely stay here if going to local attractions. - Shady Spring
Aug 2018 - $79.00
Campground was perfect for our needs. Restrooms were clean and easily accessible. Electricity water cable TV and sewer were perfect. Best part about the campground is shuttle bus to Hersheypark. We stayed in a back inside next to a creek. - stanner17
May 2015 - $45.00
A very family friendly campground affiliated with the Church of the Brethren. Sites are widely spaced and there are fields for all sorts of sports. A spash pad and quality, reasonably prices mini golf course are also available for family fun. Excellent hiking trails surround the camp, including the Appalachian Trail. Convenient access off I-78 and near attractions such as Cabela's and Roadside America. No cell service (text or voice) for AT&T customers. Verizon service is weak. - Lancaster Camper
Jul 2014 - $30.00
Camp Swatara is a family oriented campground with wonderful amenities such as hiking, boating & fishing, swimming, volleyball and much more. Growing up my family camped there with the adult group from our church. Now I take my family there and it's still a wonderful place to go. The facilities are very well maintained and the camp store is well stocked with reasonable prices. There is so much to do there, one weekend is not long enough to fully enjoy all the amenities. The restrooms/bath houses are all well stocked and kept clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is much to do in the region if all you wish to do at Camp Swatara is sleep. It's near enough to several major tourist attractions to commute under 60 minutes, many only 1/2 hour. The only reason I did not rate Camp Swatara with a 10 is because the pool is shared with the children's day camp so pool hours vary each day and are quite limited to campers. We found it challenging to coordinate our other plans around the availability of the pool which we used during our stay. It is also somewhat of a long walk from the campground. After hiking, we were almost too tired for more walking to refresh ourselves in the pool. With all that said, we will continue to camp there, happily, over and over again. I recommend Camp Swatara to anyone camping with children and even pets. I probably should not neglect to mention it's owned by the Church of the Brethren so therefore has strict rules regarding the use of tobacco, alcohol, and playing radios. It's all forbidden. If you plan to party, book your stay elsewhere! This is a Christian-based, family oriented facility. - LeAnn Tough
