This is a rustic campground located close to downtown Gettysburg, the Battlefield Visitors Center, and only a 1/2 mile walk to the battlefield road. The sites were mostly pull-through of various lengths on gravel with grass in between and with adequate spacing. There are a few small tent and back in sites along the perimeter. Some sites are shady and some are open. Bathrooms were dated but clean. The WiFi worked until the park was full, then it got too slow. The section of the park we were in (site 53) drained well after huge downpours. There is not a dog park but there was plenty of green space for walking a large dog. There are also miles of roadway in the battlefield for walking or running. The campground is also a horse rescue farm and offers guided horseback tours of the battlefield . We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Beware if you have a big rig and care about it! We travel in a 45' bus and found this park is definitely NOT big rig friendly. All "big rig" sites are horribly unlevel & the long extremely gravel and dirt narrow single lane (but officially two-way) road is even worse. In addition to the sites being incredibly unlevel, they are either not deep enough, have a horrible dip in them or have an awful incline or decline. Many, despite being "pull through" sites would require you to pull in, yet back out a long way as a big rig cannot travel the small roads! And after arrival, the staff does not understand or care what a true big rig needs. i.e., OK on the telephone making very specific reservation inquiries for a big rig but NOT in person - surprisingly MOST unfriendly even when walking in the office door upon arrival...just stare at you with no greeting. The road leading to what they refer to as big rig sites, requires you to escort yourself so as not to meet another motorcoach as there would be no room to allow passing of another vehicle and it would be a 1/4 mile + of backing up for someone and they do not even offer to escort you when clearly they should. Junky and unkempt also. Full time renters drinking tall-boy beer out in full view nightly. Dumpster completely full for three days. We would NEVER return under any circumstances - we even left three days early as park vibe was horrible - something we have never experienced in a decade of traveling in a motorcoach. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Had a very nice holiday weekend. Stayed on site 76 which was surrounded by roads but was actually very quite. We have been to this campground several times, always enjoy our stay here. Whats unique is while we don't have one, people can camp with their horses here. We enjoy walking by and seeing them. They had added quite a few site in the back, look nice. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Close to Gettysburg, tons to do and see there. Try the Segway tour while you're there. Really fun riding thru the town and battlegrounds while learning about the very fascinating time of the war at Gettysburg.

New ownership/management and it shows! Have been here 3 other times, and is now friendlier, cleaner, more activities, even a free breakfast! Best location in G-burg, less than a mile from National Battlefield visitors center and straight run into town. Everything you could need (hardware store, groceries, beer distributor) within 3 miles. Interior roads are dirt, with a steep entrance at the office. A bit narrow, but branches have been cleared. Larger sites in the back are improved with more stone - 50 amps and better WiFi reception. Place was packed but we never noticed in the 400 sites (in site 432). Hook ups well placed on generally level sites. Scheduled activites all weekend. Constant effort obvious to keep CG clean and comfortable. Well stocked store. Helpful staff answered all questions. Would recommend. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Have a meal at the Blue and Grey Tavern, on the square downtown. The beef short rib potato skins are incredible! Pay the bucks and use a licensed battlefield guide to get a very good tour of the battlefield. (Reserve ahead of time!) Shop at Kennie's Market in town! Good prices, great butcher shop, and good produce (get a courtesy card for the best deals!). Beer is at distributors only in Pa - Corner of HIgh and Washington Streets!

New owners took over and sent everyone a letter that had a reservation that they now owe more - and they claim all the new things they are going to do. But have not done anything yet...except take more money. The sites still flood, sites need more stone/gravel; limited activities, small pool, overpriced merchandise and supplies in the store and a bunch of junkie perm sites. We camped here for over 20+ years and the nice folks who used to work here have all been run away by the new owners. Don't waste your money - much nicer places in Gettysburg to stay than here. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed in the tent-camping area with our Boy Scout troop for 5 days. This campground is pricey due to its access to the battlefield (the trail starts across the street). Camp sites were tight. The RV-sites had gravel beds for parking, the tent area was a field. I deducted a star due to drainage issues in the tent-camping area. It rained torrentially. The water had no place to go and remained flooded after the rain stopped. We spent the week ankle-deep in mud. For what we paid, the owners should grade the place so the water properly drains. The staff was helpful, and there is free miniature golf. Bathrooms were clean, the showers hot, if a bit fickle during peak usage. As a Boy Scout troop, we would stay here again due to the proximity to the battlefield. If I came with my pop-up camper and family, however, I would seek a better price and a bigger buffer between campsites. Avoid tent sites on the lower end of the field ... they flood (and STAY flooded) when it rains and there is no higher ground. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Tent.

Great location close to the Park. Our campsite had no tree cover, though some sites did have some trees. It was too early in the season to check out many of the amenities, like the pool. The campground was sold to a new owner after we had made our reservation, and the price was raised even though we had reservations. Rather than find a new campground we kept our reservation and paid the higher price. Not real happy with that, especially since it was off season and the park was only half full. Not sure we'd come back, even with the great location. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Travel Trailer.

No problems at all with electrical hookup or use. A few sites have uphill sewer hookups. This one did not. Short run. Always stay here when in the area. Biggest reason is Passport America discount. 2nd reason is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. 3rd reason (a big one!) is LOCATION! Definitely the closest to the battlefield, Visitors Center and downtown G-Burg. Pros - mostly level sites; clean bathhouses with changing area for showers; adequate space between sites (remember, this is the Northeast, not the rest of the country! Our MH with 2 slides and toad fit easily); new pool; activities for all family members Cons - fewer 'bells and whistles' than other CG in area; dirt and stone roads and sites - none paved; muddy when it rains; difficult left turn when leaving (although you will mostly go right towards the Battlefield and almost everything else in the area!) Location, Location, Location and the people here make this a good choice for almost every camper. Nothing 'upscale' or 'fancy', just a friendly, comfortable place to use when exploring the area. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Sign up for a licensed battlefield guided tour. it's a private tour! The Blue and the Grey Tavern on the Square has incredible burgers and great wings! Gary Owens Irish Tavern on US 30 West just beyond the circle has a great selection of Irish and American beers (and ciders!). The food is beyond incredible, and very fairly priced.

I reserved the 2 night stay by phone with an employee at the camp ground. Stated I wanted a 2 night stay with my escapee discount @50% off. I would not stay here at full price. Was quoted the price and made the reservation @ the 50% off rate. The lady on the phone was very nice and gave us info for RV wash by a fellow camper at the resort and info on LP filling in the area. Elec, water and sewer, no cable. Our antenna picked up 18 channels. Wifi is ok, att was 3 bars. Cons: Arrival Tip: You will be charged 25.00 if you arrive before 3 pm, so the line of campers was long and in the main road @ 3pm. After a 15 min wait, I went in to the office @ 315 to check in. Large store and lots of people on deck ready to check you in. As she is ringing me up she tells me she can not give me the 50% off I was quoted unless I stay 3 nights instead of 2. I was stuck as we had reservations for the next am for Guided Battlefield Carriage Tour. She already knew I was given the 50% off price for 2 nights, said I didn't have to stay if we didn't want to but not in a mean way. On to your site: You are given a map to your site, we were in between two horse trailer campers, our site was a small gravel hill, 9 foot by 26 feet. No room for your tow vehicle in front. It was level but the bottom step of the RV was 19 inches above the ground. Could not put an extra portable step down as you where on a gravel hill that sloped to the grass. The picnic table was placed over the fire ring before we got there as there was limited room. Our neighbor had loud music from am to 10 pm both nights, off at quiet hours. The first night the electric went out for awhile during the rain. I think everything was against us on this campground! We did have a nice time touring and the carriage ride was amazing with a guide telling you information about the battle. Pros: close to the battle field and restaurants. I would not return to this camp ground as they are dishonest. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Narrow roads with lots of pick-up trucks parked near roads and even encroaching on them. Site was not level but we managed to get level with tires on ground. Site was pull-thru and just long enough for our 37-ft. Class A and Jeep towed. Getting into it was not challenging, but getting OUT would have been nerve-racking if one of the pick-up truck had not left shortly we did. For $30 (PA), it was OK for an overnight stay. No cable and OTA nearly non-existent, but the WI-FI had sufficient bandwidth for us stream a movie so it all worked out. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the 400 circle. Very open and good for satellite reception. We thought we were going to have a satellite that's why we requested it. the site was fairly level, not crowded, pull through and open. it was 90-95 each day and VERY HOT, can't blame the campground on that :) The AC's were cranking and we never lost power. The water pressure was good. Had free wifi and was good enough that I could tap into NBC on my PC and stream the shows. We were told that in that area you could get ABC and a few channels with the antennae, but we didn't try. We had a horse pasture between our area and the other part of the campground. There were no short cuts to the pool/store so you must drive or have a bike. the walk was approx 1/4 -1/2 mile . Pool was 4ft deep but satisfied us. The store was nice had souveniers as well as some RV stuff. Other pull throughs were closer and some in the shade. Will go back but will request a site in the shade. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The staff was friendly and generally helpful. However, the sites are literally on top of each other. The site we were assigned (E79) wasn't particularly level and had no shade what-so-ever. It was also right behind the main dumpster. At least while we were there, the campground was packed on the weekend. The camp store was well-stocked and useful. Good game room and playground for the kids, as well as a pool (didn't use it, but it seemed nice). Not a bad location for visiting Gettysburg, but we will likely check out other options on a return trip to the area. On a related note, we do not recommend the "Spirit of Gettysburg" attraction for which the campground gives free tickets. We thought the "fun house" approach to an event in which thousands of men died (Picket's Charge) was offensive to the memory of those soldiers on both sides who gave all. On the other hand, we HIGHLY recommend hiring one of the licensed battlefield guides for a personal tour of Gettysburg. The cost for our entire family to have a personal guide was less than the cost of going on a group tour. The tour was a highlight of our trip. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Arrived in rain. CG couldn't help this. Said could accommodate big rigs. Put 8 Big Rigs in lower mud hole. New owners have had it for 6 years with no improvements. Area is full of pot holes filled with water. If you get even slightly off gravel, you'll be in mud or stuck. Some places have small gravel dumped but not packed so RV sunk into gravel holes. Worst CG have been in in some 20 yrs of RVing. Will not return. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.
