IGNORE YOUR GPS: Do not go down Lemon Road. It's rutty, narrow and a steep downhill. We found a better way. From 219: Take South 403 about half a mile. Bear right onto 601 South and go about 1 1/4 miles. Turn left onto Plank Road (Look for Stoystown sign on left.) Make an immediate right onto Quemahoning Dam Road. Go about 2 1/2 miles. Entrance sign is on left. It's easy to miss. Down low about two feet off ground. Can't read it until you turn in. If you are coming from the other direction, it's on the right and easily viewable. There is no check-in procedure. You pull in, drive down a gravel area and make a right into the campground through the cattle gate. Then you find your site which you were given when you reserved. There is no water on site, although there are spigots around to get water. You have electric at your site. The sites are close together and on dirt/gravel. There are two bathhouses but one is at the entrance for the pavilions and there's one in the campground but near the cabins. If you need to use a bathhouse, it will be a bit of a hike. There is a beach with a swimming area and you can rent kayaks, paddle boards and canoes. There is a large picnic area with pavilions and a playground. They have a dump station but it's not marked and we walked all over trying to find it. It's also not listed on their map. We finally found the pipe sticking out of the ground next to the bathhouse at the upper end of campground. No wifi but decent cell on T-Mobile and AT&T. - Ceil-54
Jul 2019 - $25.00
We chose this campground because it's not far from the Flight 93 Memorial. Coming from the east, Route 30 is one hilly road. Once we turned off Route 30, the road really narrowed and it would have been impossible for two RVs to pass. Cars and trucks either backed up to a wider spot in the road or pulled off as much as they could. Once you see the Family Camp sign and turn right, you're in a public use beach parking lot. You have to turn right onto the paved road thru the "cattle gates". There is no sign or office. Your confirmation email serves as your car pass. Once inside the roads are paved. Our site was very roomy and overlooked a wooded area and the water. There's no Wifi, water or sewer although we did have AT&T reception. Not very crowded mid week but it looks like it could be popular weekend spot. Wouldn't recommend it for an overnite because the road access is slow and demanding. Picnic table and fire pit. Lots of trees. Easy water access for swimming or watercraft. Overall very nice. On the way out the GPS took us on a different route which seemed shorter and better. They did respond quickly to a site request online but there is no one to help when you arrive. - Team Asphalt
Jun 2018 - $25.00
The park manager was very personable and accommodating! He actually took us right to our spot and moved around the picnic table to best suit the setup. The swim area was great -water was reasonably warm for beginning of June. The dam is very pretty! They do not allow gas engine boats -- which was perfect for us. We have kayaks so it was nice and peaceful for my husband to be able to take our 2 year old to fish. I would highly recommend this campground. Relatively small place with minimal store essentials. Also, electric is the only available hookup. No sewage or garbage disposal at campground. - ashleymcdavidson

Umm...Keep driving!
Very small, unlevel sites on soft ground (mostly grass with a little gravel), 30 amp electric (no 50 amp). Utilities are at the very back of the sites, so you may need extensions. Most of the trailers look like long-term low income housing. Several trailers were empty, rusty and abandoned. Campground is run by a sweet very old lady. It has a small pool that looked clean. We did not use the pool or public restrooms. At $38 a night, we wish we had looked into some of the nearby state parks and campgrounds. Since we were only staying for one night we went ahead and "bit the bullet" and stayed. - lauraslytle
Sep 2012 - $30.00
This is an old run down park with mostly seasonal campers. We made the mistake of paying before seeing the shower house. Previous reviews are a little on the "kind" side for sure. Washrooms and showers were filthy and disgusting. Luckily the elderly woman who runs the place gave us our $30.00 back and we found another campground. - shlemon
Jul 2010 - $30.00
Very basic, no frills little campgrounds. 95% seasonal. The seasonals are friendly enough. A very sweet older lady runs the place by herself. Not the place to go if you want activities, games, etc. Lots of shopping and other things to do in the general area. - blondieemtp

Clean campground, friendly staff. Most important: beware of narrow bridge into the campground. It is plenty strong, despite wooden surface (It is really a sturdy concrete structure.) When going over bridge, DO NOT TURN WHEEL UNTIL FULLY CLEAR. Otherwise, your tail will swing and smack the rail. Just saying. - Charisma1965
Jun 2017 - $36.00
This small campground is located in a rural and beautiful area. The small lake and a trout stream that runs through the property kept the fishermen busy. Our site was a level back in right next to the stream. There was even a small waterfall right in our shady backyard. The owners are pleasant, friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. Customer service was great. Grounds are very well kept and public areas are clean. Bathrooms are very outdated and are on the list of these new owners plans for improvement. In addition to the fishing spots there are open fields perfect for a kickball game, a playground, horseshoe pits, and a community building and game room. The campground is gated. - Bonnie Lee
Aug 2013 - $15.00
Overall this is a fairly nice campground. We were parked next to a stream that seemed very tame until the monsoon hit. I watched it continue to rise and eventually called the manager (not on site). She said that it would have to rain for 2-3 more days before the stream overran. It was only at one foot from the top so I have doubts about that. Rain stopped two hours later and all was well. Trees were a problem with satellite, and cell was questionable. Rate reflects Passport America. - keydet

We parked the RV here two nights while visiting family nearby. We did not stay in the rig or use any of the facilities. The owner is pleasant. The park is in rough shape and 99% of the residents are long term. There are 6 pull-thru sites. We did feel that the campground was safe and felt comfortable leaving the RV unattended. Because there is not much in/out traffic small overhead branches caught the top of the RV as we were going to and from our site. We were not able to get completely level. - SoonerMom
Sep 2016 - $28.00
We needed to stay near Johnstown and this was the closest. Not your average park for travelers. Most are setup as seasonal trailers and tents for family getaways in a heavily wooded campground. The regulars are friendly and they had a lot going on for kids on the weekend and several play areas. The park itself is very run down and bathrooms, laundry, etc. in poor repair. There are a few pull through sites for overnighters. Some roads are paved, some sites are graveled, some are overgrown grass. That said, we enjoyed being in the cool woods and the feeling of camping. - Traveler Anne

This campground is mostly seasonal campers, but has multiple accommodations for people passing through. The lay out was very nice. The playground was in good condition. A good value, located close to everything. - msceejay2000

Park is in the state park. Has sites with shade and sites in open area. 30A hookup. Used electric only with our popup. Restrooms were clean and we'll maintained. Didn't use showers but they also we're clean. Hiking trails located behind campground along with ski and activity area close by. Dump station available on the campground across from the restroom/shower. Would stay here again. - Frankk
May 2013 - $23.00
I think this park with it's out of level sites, which are hard to get to, was very disappointing. When we were there, the host and PA park central both told us of a boil water notice. Bugs were released overhead to control the Gypsy moth infestation. Billions of them mistook my wife and I for their target. The roads surrounding blue knob are tough to maneuver, but we escaped after our stay was up. Never to return. Oh, and the electric kept popping on and off. I can only assume that was bug overload. Imagine a hilly field with power poles. - joemama

This is a small campground with not many sites. This was my second trip to this campground and sadly not as enjoyable as the first time. The sites are very close together and open, but the the campground was not full midweek. We stopped here for one night while driving through and I think a truck rest stop would have had less road noise. Even small vehicle seem to be right outside the camper. The camp host were friendly. Biggest positive note, the dump station had easy access and a fresh water fill hose. - JGS
May 2015 - $25.00
This is a small state park 41 total sites (4 full hook-up) including cabins. There are maybe 5 sites that don't look like a ski jump in full sun. You are either badly tilted side to side or very badly front to back. Bring a lot of leveling blocks. There is a long one lane road in and out of the park - make sure no one else is on it if you are towing 4 down -the only pull off is the dump station half way down the road. Bathrooms and showers were well maintained with a washer and dryer available at $1.25 and double sink for doing dishes. TV and satellite are hit and miss based on site. Not much to do in the park except relax and have a campfire. There is a shallow stream (4" to 6" deep) along the low side of the park - I didn't see any fish or wildlife in it. - Grayhound
May 2015 - $29.00
The setting is beautiful, reminiscent of some of the state parks in Colorado. Campground is small but pleasant. Sites are gravel, reasonably level. There are four full hookup sites in the campground, all pull-through and closer together. Other sites have electricity only and are widely spaced. Utilities worked well; no Wi-Fi. Plenty of hiking trails in the area, along with a beautiful lake. Forbes State Forest is within an easy walk. Flush toilets and laundry available. This is not the type of place that you would like if you want an RV resort with all the facilities, but it is much more like camping with hookups. The only negative is the road noise. - Dashonthedash

Stay here every year for family reunion. Nice park easy to manuever 38 ft motorhome. One thing i wish all campgrounds would offer is non smoking sites, cigarette butts everywhere, fire ring used as an ashtray. Disgusting!!! - Mgee
Sep 2018 - $50.00
Nice campground, stayed here off season during the extreme flooding taking place all along the east coast but it appears to be well kept, sites are large and spaced nicely. Will definetly stay here again. - Mgee
Sep 2018 - $48.00
No way this park deserves the current 7.9 rating - my opinion, the only way it gets it is because it has lots of activities. When you first pull in everything looks great, but then you get to your site... Interior roads are narrow and a mix of old asphalt, crushed stone and mud. The site itself was very small, a tree so close we can't use an awning, covered in cigarette butts, fire pit full of trash, wi-fi non-existant. We asked for a site near the bathhouse, and we weren't too far away, but what's the point when it's closed down - they didn't bother to tell us that when we checked in. It rained a lot while we were there (no fault of the campground) and several of the sites were extremely muddy, including ours and the one next to us. That didn't stop them from trying to squeeze someone in though - you'd think they'd get the hint when the second person asked for a different site because of the mud, but no, they kept sending folks over, even though there were several other sites available. We will not be back... - Homey1992

Beautiful quiet park with grass and trees and lakes. We had a site located on a tiered hill but had no problem leveling. We had a difficult time getting to the park off the Virginia turnpike. Directions are confusing and following the GPS had to navigate under a very low bridge. - kks
May 2019 - $37.00
Very large and well kept park. We stayed at G-300. Large green area as part of campsite. Great for kids or dogs, (On pet friendly loop.) Lots to do at park. - BDP
Oct 2018 - $48.00
We love state parks with full hook ups. This RV camping area is very new looking and well kept. It is on a gentle slope with terraced camping sites, which are mostly level. The tent camping areas are a bit more primitive looking. It is a huge park around a lake. There were areas around the lake where you could not walk your dog. The beach was closed to everyone - people or dogs. Our campsite utilities were convenient. We talked to a "regular" who said that the campsite is very full in the summer and on weekends. We can believe it. Mid-week in October it was mostly empty and very pleasant. - ShoreXplorers

Sep 2019 - $38.00
Poorly maintained, no hot water in bath house, no toilet paper or paper towels in women's restroom for at least 12 hours, pool was not heated as advertised, fiberglass picnic table at site caused allergic reactions to people in my group, campsites were not very private. I would not stay here again. - Old Camper 64
Apr 2019 - $18.00
We stayed here when they just opened for the season. The man who checked us in was very nice and let us pick whatever 30 amp site that we wanted since the park was pretty empty. The park is in need of repairs and updates. The bathrooms were really rusty and smelled like mold so I skipped using the showers. Apparently they were still working on getting the water up and running so while we were there the water came out brown. The man who checked us in told us not to drink the water but it was safe to use in our rig. After seeing very brown water come out of the faucet we decided to use our bottled water for everything in our rig. We only stayed here one night. For the value it was fine for a overnight but I would have to go back to see if anything has improved before raising the score. Our site was level with shade. - RV Path chosen
Aug 2012 - $25.00
Stayed here 4 nites to see the area. Enjoyed the town of Buford and the covered bridge tour. The campground is more for an overnight stop. Sites are level and the pool looked clean. There are 2 levels to the grounds. The lower level is large and has shade around the outside sites, weekend is busy but we were the only ones in the park by Sunday nite. There is no cable TV, Wi-Fi or TV ant. reception. There are no planned activities and the park is in need of undating. Bathroms were fairly clean, but in need of repair. Office is open around mid morning and in the afternoon for a while if they don't have something else to do. Might stay again, but only as an overnight stop. - Evorider

Very well maintained & beautiful campground in a farm country setting. Plenty of room between sites. WiFi sometimes good sometimes slow. AT&T 5g/4g. We used the new Rt 219 from MD. Very nice road on PA side. MD side not new but okay for our big rig. - Lizz
