Overall Rating:

This is a nice, small park situated on a hillside in The Amish Country, adjacent to a working farm. Our site was perfect in that we were the first site, directly facing the two lane country road, with no other sites on our front porch side we were able to watch the buggies drive by all day. We watched the cows come in and out of the barn right across the street (we loved this) At night it was noisy due to the Semi's that drove through - it seems this is a main road. That being said, we still really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect for visiting the area. There are tours, markets, shops, and close to many of the historic covered bridges - we drove to 5 of them. The site itself was not quite level so it took some effort and our jack pads were needed. We had a good experience and would come back if in the area again. Not sure how our experience would have been had we been in a different site, as the sites are pretty close together, as mentioned before we were at the bottom of the hill, with no one in our front porch side - so clear views. We did have a really difficult time removing our sewer cap, it was impossible.. but the owner was promptly there to assist and saved the day! This was a pull through site, but the steep incline made it impossible to stay connected or to connect the Jeep - had to go across the street to the big parking Lot. We camped at Beacon Hill Campground (Ages16+) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are so many things to see and do. For a great Amish experience take a Buggy ride, there is a fantastic meat market (they have fresh Meats, cheeses, baked goods, candies, etc) called Stoltzfus Meats. It's on the Main Street in Intercourse. Also very close is the town of Bird in Hand. Great dining and shops. Just driving through the gorgeous countryside is an experience all it's own. Google where the covered bridges are, they are truly very special.

Beacon Hill is adjacent to an Amish farm. I had the pleasure of watching horse drawn carriages and mule drawn farm machines passing within 30 feet of our campsite. The sites are a little small and there was minimal shielding between sites. Seasonals are well maintained and there are many repeat campers. The location is perfect to tour Lancaster County. Office staff was delightful and efficient. We had a great stay. We camped at Beacon Hill Campground (Ages16+) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We loved Beacon Hill. We called a few days in advance and reserved two nights, but after we arrived we added two more nights. The campground has a lower and an upper tier. The bathrooms/laundry are in the upper area where we stayed. I'd recommend the upper area just because it had fewer spots and was shadier. Lower tier spots had some pull-throughs where the upper tier was only back ins, so the Class As were better on the bottom. Owners are friendly and helpful in finding your way around the community. The campground is surrounded by Amish neighbors so you see lots of horse drawn buggies and carts as well as farm activities. Our dog loved the dog run but not the horse drawn carts and she let everyone know with lots of yelps and cries. You are in walking distance to the town of Intercourse but because the road is busy with horses and cars we drove most of the time. It was pleasant walking around the park and looking at the farms and Amish business that were right next door. There are some nice seating areas near the office with wonderful views of the country side. The area is well maintained and the seating arrangements invite campers to sit and visit and make new friends. Great place to go with other campers and those who don't camp can enjoy one of the cabins on the grounds that were attractive and designed for different levels of camping (some with kitchens and others just for spending the night). Town is busy but not on Sundays so if you come on the weekend remember that everything will be shuttered on that day. We camped at Beacon Hill Campground (Ages16+) in a Travel Trailer.

Fisher's Festivals for Sweet Corn & tomatoes; Four54 in Lancaster for burgers, Strasburg Country Store for ice cream, Julia Swartz for oil paintings, Busy Bee for best fresh pretzels (Fri/Sat only). Deerskin Leather, Village Quilts for unique gifts. 1 1/2 hours drive to Gettysburg and 1 hour to Chadds Ford to see the artists homes/museums of the Wythe families.

The sites are small and narrow and there's no swimming, but those are the only drawbacks to this park. The park is small and nestled right in the middle of Amish farmland. We camped at Beacon Hill Campground (Ages16+) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Across the street from the campground is a farm where you can watch the Amish work with mule/horse drawn equipment. On the other side of the campground is a road where buggies go back and forth all the time. Immaculate restrooms and laundry available. The best thing about this park is it's location - it's near everything in Lancaster County and in the middle of beautiful farmland.

We come here a couple times per year. Great location to do the tourist thing in Lancaster County. Sites are a little small but we don't come here for the camping experience. We use it as a Base camp for going to concerts, shows, etc. Krista in the office is terrific to work with for reservations and when you arrive. We usually make new friends with other campers. This was our first trip with our 24' TT. Staff was very helpful in getting us a site that was easy to back into (#14). Mid-week and off-peak season stay was quiet. Campground was maybe 50% full. Sites seemed small but we have little experience. Full hookup. Did not use bathhouse but checked it out and looked clean and cared-for. Loved that it's adults-only and pets are allowed!!! Park has an upper and lower level and because of this space is an issue. We had to unhook van and remove tow dolly to get to site. All sites are very small and many parked cars along side the road. It is the greatest location since everything is close. It has a fenced in dog park but can't drive to get to it so must walk dogs in. It was large and dogs loved horses going by. Staff was extremely helpful and went out of the way to make our stay enjoyable. Would recommend to anyone who wants to be close to the Amish. Love the Amish village tour. The Strasburg railway where they had Thomas and Percy. The Lancaster and the Bird In Hand Markets. Best of all was driving around in the late afternoon on all the little country roads looking at the countryside. We saw lots of farmers working with their different farm machinery.

Lovely location with well maintained bathhouse and grounds. We had the park model, cottage and an RV site. The park model was very accommodating for the 5 of us to hang out. The cottage and park model both had air conditioning and everyone was comfortable. The park has a mixture of longer and short term folks, and everyone we met was super nice. I have a class b and had ample space in our RV spot with full hookups. We camped at Beacon Hill Campground (Ages16+) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

I attempted to walk down to the shops but the cross road is very busy and has large trucks, as well as horse and buggy and passenger cars with no shoulder. I have two dogs, who are good, but it was too much stopping and not enough shade. I wouldn't advise planning on walking beyond the quiet road the campground sits on.

We camped at Beacon Hill Campground for two nights. The campground is very small but lovely. Very well kept and very clean. The sites are tight and close together but the beauty is that you are nestled between two beautiful Amish farms that are breathtaking. The area is very quite, the only sounds are the clicking of the horse and buggies that go by or the sounds of cows mooing while looking down into the farm The bathrooms, showers and laundry area are spotless. Even though the campground feels a little crowded you are also walking distance to the lovely town of Intercourse. We had full hook-ups and wifi (wifi a little slow but ok). We really enjoyed our stay and would return. The best sites are on the upper level. Sites 1 to 9 are the best. The lower level looks more like a crowded parking lot but it can take the bigger rigs. Our site was just long enough for our 28ft. trailer. You are unable to also fit your vehicle, but you can park your vehicle in parking area right across the sites, just a few steps away. We camped at Beacon Hill Campground (Ages16+) in a Travel Trailer.

Visit Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse quaint little shops with local shopping. Also many shops along main road. Go have dinner at the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord, excellent food at reasonable price. For us this was a wonderful vacation just sorry we did not stay longer.

Have stayed here before, and would like to return. Agree with the last several posts, good location and friendly people in the heart of Amish country. We had what I would describe as a pull in, back out site. The interior road can be quite tight because of parked vehicles. We camped at Beacon Hill Campground (Ages16+) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a wonderful little campground. It is a quiet adult park with gravel spots. The sites are a bit tight but it was easy to get into. The campground is across from a working farm. and close to Intercourse. The staff is very helpful and friendly as well. There is lots of shade here and that is a two edged sword as I could not get a DTV signal but there was plenty of over the air stations to pull in. Wifi was acceptable but slow. I have stayed here before and would stay here again. It is a place to go for a quiet time in the campground and to see the area sites as well.
