Nicest staff around, really take pride in the property as well as anything you can need assistance with. Stay here for penn state home games. Affordable, clean, safe, child and pet friendly. - BearCreekLion
May 2019 - $26.00
Parking is on the field, 30 amp
Power was good, water pressure strong and constant. Buildings were very clean and large. We attended the COA Penn State Rally at this campground. Television is limited but Penn State University is close (ice cream factory). - tomas_grupos

The staff is extremely pleasant. The sites were a little muddy since it been raining so much. The transportation to and from downtown State College and the Penn State football game was awesome. the units are very close together. They do not have many 50 amp sites. - Psushu

Check was quick and easy, the workers were pleasant. They say they are trying to become more "big rig" friendly but failed to trim the branches at the entrance and along some interior roads. They only have a few long sites, all sites were very close together. WIFI worked good, power was good but water pressure was very low, difficult to take a shower. - Diablo
Oct 2015 - $35.00
The campground has some nice features. The bathrooms were a little old but very clean with pleasant touches and toasty warm with the cold temps outside. I would have rated the campground much higher, but for location. Our site was about 40 feet from a highway and we were in a hybrid trailer. The truck traffic on the highway was nonstop all night and unbearable. At times the camper actually vibrated from the noise. I suspect the noise would be dampened if you were in a hard walled RV, but I would still suggest asking to stay as far from the road as possible. We left after one night. As for other aspects, the sight was wide, almost level so not much correction needed. As for the look of the campground, it looks nice, lots of tree, pine needles etc. - TBrams

We used this CG as an overnight, and it was all we needed! It was simple, nothing fancy, but a level site, quiet and a decent shower house. Would not come here to vacation, but as a one night stop you couldn't ask for more. Even had a host take us right to our site! - Spmalloy

Second time we've stayed here. Excellent and friendly staff. CG is on a hill so there's a problem with roadway erosion, but they're trying to keep up with it. Several full-timers, but they're also friendly and great folks. MUCH better than saying at a KOA! - Walt Bennett
May 2019 - $55.00
The best word I can think of is "Ramshackled". Add this to the list of campgrounds that might have been nice once but suffer from lack of maintenance. The roads were dirt and stone and terribly rutted from all the rain. These were not little ruts. I was afraid to drive our toad in and out for fear of bottoming out and damaging the suspension. The sites were hilly and difficult to level on. We used every bit of apparatus we had including the hydraulic levelers and all of our blocks. We had to convert to a 50 amp connector. The post was too low to the ground to allow us to use a surge protector with the 30 amp adapter. Under normal circumstances not a big deal but given the rundown nature of the campground it made us nervous. The advertised Wifi didn't work at all and the recreational amenities listed were mostly not usable except for the "water lagoon" which is relatively new. There seemed to be one very pleasant lady working the campground for the holiday weekend. She did everything. State College is neat and there is a lot to do in the beautiful area but maybe stay at another park up the road instead. - Mr October

Gravel roads and spots need grading/leveling, but overall is a nice, quiet CG. A bit high priced, but great location. - Walt Bennett

Nice campground. We were there on a Monday night and the place was nearly empty. We we told it was packed during the weekend due to a Penn State game. We were preregistered and the instructions posted were to simply find your spot. We never saw anyone working there and we were fine with that. All was clean and well kept. - mojomoho
Jun 2018 - $27.00
We stayed during a conference at State College. Nice quiet park with a small lake for fishing and swimming. Ranger programs on weekends. 30A electric only at the sites. Water stations spaced throughout the campground to fill your fresh water tank. Dump station at the entrance. We were in site 47 which had a nice low stone retaining wall along the back. This gave a nice background for the fire in the evening (and a place for our cat to explore). Our trailer is 25' long and we had room to park the truck. (We had previously stayed in site 48 which has a slight uphill grade at the entrance but levels out where the trailer sits.) We like the sites on the outside of the outer loop because of the privacy they give you. - Wilco
Oct 2017 - $27.00
Nice small lake for fishing great hiking/running trails. 48 has a slight grade, but nothing hit bottom backing in, stay to the right for an evener backup. - 2labsacamping

Overnighted while traveling through. Friendly staff. Good pull thru so we could stay hitched. Clean bathhouse with nice showers. We would stay again. - Patnal

Plenty of activities for children such as a swimming pool. - Mark Hallewell
Jun 2019 - $77.00
We joined KOA & have stayed at many of their campgrounds. For us, with no children, they are all over priced but usually the only decent choice in that area. This campground has all the amenities for the kids. The spaces are very tight, you'll get to know your neighbors. We were here just one night. 50 amp electric worked fine. Did not hook up water or sewer. Our back in site was just long enough for our coach & towed parked sideway in front. Small concrete patio area with table. Gravel site & gravel (narrow) roads. 20 minutes to State College. We would not stay here for an extended stay. - Ketelhut

The camp sites were a bit close, but there were trees between you. I was a little surprised at the full hook ups we saw did not allow pets. Great back country roads to ride your bikes on. - Bosleys Mom
Jul 2019 - $43.00
We stayed at site 31. Our initial route in was pretty sketchy. We left via Route 504 to Route 322 West to Route 80 West. Much easier and less narrow and bendy. AS others have said the turn into the campground from Casanova Road is a hairy turn. Once in the campground is easy to navigate. We waited for about 30 minutes as 2 trailers filled their fresh water holding tanks. There are water spigots all over the campground. Our site was very level and easy to back into. The downside is that we were right beside the bathhouse. There is a path between sites 30 and 31 for lower campsites to have access / shortcut to the bathhouse. It gave our dogs entertainment to bark at strangers. The bathhouses were older but very clean. All of our hookups were quite easy to use. Water pressure was very good. Never a problem with electricity. We had a full service site, so emptying our grey and black tanks were no problem. If you have an electricity site only there may be a wait in line when leaving. The waste site is right by the bathhouse. Doggie poop bag dispensers were readily available. They need to put waste baskets on the pole with the bag dispenser. You are not allowed to throw the "full Bags" in the bathhouse waste containers. We hiked every trail in the Park. The highlight was the Blueberry Trail. Blueberries were ripe and we picked a bunch! Make sure you have waterproof hiking boots if on the trails. The Moss-Hanne Trail in particular is very "boggie". The beach is clean but odd looking with the black water. The concession stand was excellent. Overall we had a great time and will be back next year. - Steverino
Apr 2019 - $35.00
Our site took us hours to level our rv. We tried every conceivable angle, leveling board configuration and trick in the book! The loop had no restrictions on where you could walk your dogs, but had about 6 sites that didn't allow pets which were located across from pet allowed sites. What is the point? Because we unknowingly came 1st day of trout season, ALL sites that had electric and allowed dogs were filled. Those that said "no pets" were unoccupied. Would have loved to have been able to move to a more level site, but we travel with dogs. Those are the only complaints. We had limited cell sevice (Verizon), no internet. Nice family and outdoor recreation park. Friendly fellow campers. Many of the sites have a paved "patio". Ours (and others) was located on the utilities/connection side of our rv and not on the awning side. So I think the pad is there for a tent. We could not park our rv or tow car on the pad. - WMRamblers

We stayed four days & enjoyed the park. The showers in the (oak loop) are in extremely bad shape. They need to be cleaned up, as repainted with shelfs, etc. With the remainder of the park being in great shape, it's a shame something this minor gives a negative. We have camped in many other Pa parks & enjoy our stays. Hope this will be a positive review to improve this problem. Thank You. - walter emmert

This is a return visit and one night stop on our way east. CG was not full and we had our choice of sites. Had to use the self check in since we arrived after the office closed (16:00 Hrs). It was an easy process, but I screw it up (can't read)- but thanks to the host - it got straighten out. It looks like water activity is the main attraction: boating, fishing, canoeing, etc. Not sure I would stay for more than a day since water activity is not my cup of tea. While the RR/shower were fairly clean, they are dated and need some TLC - mainly paint and floor mats in the shower. Benches would also help. Access to the park did NOT require an extra fee. (that's a plus) We will return if we're in the area. - Dennis D

I was leery of this place based on the previous reviews, but decided to give it a try since most reviews were older than 2 years. We were not disappointed. Our sites were level and clean and quite spacious. Even the fire pit was cleaned out. Yes there were trains, but they are not that close to the campground and not that noticeable. Maybe 3 or 4 pass per hour. If it bothers you, sleep with the fan on. Most sites are seasonal. Everyone was friendly and there were numerous golf carts, but not obnoxious. We had no problem with noisy people past quiet time. Pool looked clean, but we did not use it. If you have a slide, it may take some maneuvering to back in so that you have close access to the hookups and still be able to put the slide out. We would definitely return to this campground. - JillaRoo
Jul 2016 - $38.00
The river is beautiful, They should tear the campgrounds down and build a Beautiful Park.....But , If you don't mind being woken up by trains all hours of the night, having people and children running around yelling all day and night long, fires burning to 2 am or later, people in golf carts driving past and staring at your family every few minutes, a pool that has floaters in it, always loud and sometime's drunk neighbors within spitting distance, no working WI-FI on site, then you will love this campground! On the bright side, the Bathrooms are always CLEAN! If you don't mind waiting, but make sure you have money for the PAY shower. I believe You may be better off at the Walmart parking lot down the road, where you can get free wi-fi, and rest in peace. - wasteoftimecampinghere
Oct 2013 - $38.00
Waterside the campground, very aptly named, we camped beside the river, two days pouring rain. Hook-ups not user friendly and here's the reason why. Water 30 feet away, sewer capped to high. Cable at first was fuzzy, then came in crystal clear. Cell phone signal strong, WiFii not good here. We didn't use the bath house. Room for transients yes, but definitely a "seasonal's" park. Some sites really run down, others nicely done. On the battle between nature and "chachkas", the latter clearly won. If you enjoy the sound of trains, and hearing whistles blow, be advised it is constant, know this before you go. Not a family run campground, but employees are very nice. We had a "Good Sam" discount, but still a bit high priced. The Riverwalk was scenic, the Canal was just okay. They have a pool, reasonably sized, and a place for kids to play. Also, a picnic table and fire ring. It was a fairly roomy site so to me a score of "7" for Waterside seems just right. - prose4those
