Even with just a 24' TT, site #52 wasn't easy to back into. Gravel site with firepit & table was convenient to water source. No cell service but we managed a weak signal along the power lines at intersection of Boiling Spring and Overlook trails. A recent storm has brought down many trees along the trails and roadways but staff is working hard to clean up. Park rangers were diligent with visitors to adhere to park rules. One rule I don't get is not allowing dogs AT ALL in the no-pet section of the campground. How is one supposed to get to the trailhead that begins at the end of the campground if not permitted to walk a leashed dog on the road to get there? Very quiet area, very small lake with good fishing. Trails are short but maintained. A nice campground for a short stay. We camped at Raymond B. Winter State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Large sites but very tight roads driving to sites, trees close to road. Driving a 37 ft Motor home with a toad - difficult, narrow one way roads, very hilly, tough to find a level place in road to unhook toad. Gavel sites. Paved road in campground. Picnic tables and fire rings.Very wooded (really tall trees), no satellite. No cell reception. Beautiful area, but you better have dvd's or other entertainment if you are going to stay long. If booked in advance, just go to site, no need to check in at office. Sites well marked. Roads leading to campground are 2 lane and rather tight. Our site was a 45 ft site, with 50 amp power, no water or sewer. Some sites had water but many are 30 amp. We camped at Raymond B. Winter State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Best to unhook your toad before entering the camp loop and definitely pull your motor home out to a parking lot before hooking up the toad. Very tight roads inside campground (one way roads) and difficult to maneuver a 37 ft motor home. Really need a good spotter to back in to the spaces due to the tight trees (and tight trees on roadway out). Roads leading into campground two lane and very winding. After all, well worth the visit. Beautiful park and lake for fishing.

Overall Rating:

This is a very nice state park, IF you have a smaller-sized rig. We stayed here for a couple of nights in a 40' fifth wheel. It was difficult getting our rig backed-in to the site. The roads are narrow (beautiful roads through the forest) and, of course hilly. There is a separate camping area for those with pets. We love this state park. Unfortunately, our rig is too long for us to utilize it again. Beware: cell-phone service is non-existent. This is a dead zone. Antenna tv service is not available. We were here for three nights while visiting relatives. It was nice to be off the grid for a bit. We camped at Raymond B. Winter State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We loved this place! Perfect for the outdoors adventurer. There isn't much around, but the sites are beautiful. This place has a feeling as if you are out west in a national park. We will be back.

Wooded and remote sites with lantern hangers and fire pits.

Special thanks to the friendly camp host who helped us park late in the evening. We camped at Raymond B. Winter State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a very nice state park campground set in a hemlock and white pine forest. Every site is at least partially shaded and most are fully shaded. Most sites are spacious and have reasonably level gravel pads. Tent sites have a tent pad with finer gravel base. The campground has one central shower house, which is relatively new and clean. The park has a small lake with a beach and swimming area and numerous picnic tables. There are hiking trails in the park and connections to other mid-state trail systems. There are many miles of packed gravel forest roads (no winter maintenance) to explore on bike or by vehicle. There are also quite a few other state parks within a 25-30 mile radius to explore. Owners of big rigs would do well to avoid sites 17 to 33, as there is a very tight left-hand turn to navigate when leaving that section of the campground. It can be done, but the bank on the left side shows numerous scars indicating that the bank won! Our only gripe was the vendor-supplied firewood ($7.00/stack) that was obviously cut from long-downed trees and was very punky. There are area residents with roadside signs for camp firewood, though. RB Winter is in a beautiful section of north-central Pennsylvania's mountains and there are some great overlooks from its 2000 ft. elevation. We will definitely camp here again so we can further explore the region. We camped at Raymond B. Winter State Park in a Tent Trailer.
