We parked the RV here two nights while visiting family nearby. We did not stay in the rig or use any of the facilities. The owner is pleasant. The park is in rough shape and 99% of the residents are long term. There are 6 pull-thru sites. We did feel that the campground was safe and felt comfortable leaving the RV unattended. Because there is not much in/out traffic small overhead branches caught the top of the RV as we were going to and from our site. We were not able to get completely level. - SoonerMom

We needed to stay near Johnstown and this was the closest. Not your average park for travelers. Most are setup as seasonal trailers and tents for family getaways in a heavily wooded campground. The regulars are friendly and they had a lot going on for kids on the weekend and several play areas. The park itself is very run down and bathrooms, laundry, etc. in poor repair. There are a few pull through sites for overnighters. Some roads are paved, some sites are graveled, some are overgrown grass. That said, we enjoyed being in the cool woods and the feeling of camping. - Traveler Anne

This campground is mostly seasonal campers, but has multiple accommodations for people passing through. The lay out was very nice. The playground was in good condition. A good value, located close to everything. - msceejay2000

We just left Flight 93 Memorial. Rainy, cold, very few RV parks. traveled a long ways. (it seemed)
It was a light in the darkness there aren't many RV parks on that rd.
Lot was level, had water, electric I believe it had sewer. No tv service.
Most sites were perm campers but only about 3 people were there. - SubVet SSBN619
Sep 2016 - $30.00
Called ahead and hosts waited for us to find them. Very pleasant. This is mostly a summer/recreational lake type of campground with very few of us passing through during the week. Lots are not level so evening up the camper was a challenge. - cmclark
Jun 2007 - $19.00
Most of park is occupied by seasonal campers. The office is rarely open. The camp store is not well stocked. The propane is the best price in the area. The electric service is sub-par. There is a dump station and a dump collector that comes by weekly, no sewer hookups. I imagine the campground is in a flood plain. The play ground is also sub-par. Oddly enough it is the best campground in the area. We drove by L&M located about 3 miles away and it was considerably worse. This campground is nicely wooded, the lots are odd shaped so you don't feel on top of your neighbors. The large creek/small river which borders it is beautiful and has fish. The campers are in general friendly. - msceejay2000

We stayed at this park for two nights. The hostess was friendly. The rating I gave was because the pictures I saw online do not really show this park the way it is. The sites are very uneven. No shade. It is quite a way out from any stores. The road out was mostly pretty with grass and trees but was disappointed there were none of either on RV sites in this campground. A portion of the road to campground was loaded with potholes. If we had known all this we would not have stayed two nights or would not have stayed at all. - Terri Shepherd
May 2013 - $30.00
This campground has a ton of potential due to its remote location and close proximity to Yellow Creek. It appears that the owners are trying to clean it up. It's mostly seasonal sites, some are very nice, others not so much. Several large dogs were not leashed. Seasonals were friendly enough. The transient sites are located at the far end of the campground and are pull through. Fairly level. With the exception of a few simple swing sets, there is not much for children to do. Seems that management is trying to add more activities. - blondieemtp

Clean campground, friendly staff. Most important: beware of narrow bridge into the campground. It is plenty strong, despite wooden surface (It is really a sturdy concrete structure.) When going over bridge, DO NOT TURN WHEEL UNTIL FULLY CLEAR. Otherwise, your tail will swing and smack the rail. Just saying. - Charisma1965
Jun 2017 - $36.00
This small campground is located in a rural and beautiful area. The small lake and a trout stream that runs through the property kept the fishermen busy. Our site was a level back in right next to the stream. There was even a small waterfall right in our shady backyard. The owners are pleasant, friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. Customer service was great. Grounds are very well kept and public areas are clean. Bathrooms are very outdated and are on the list of these new owners plans for improvement. In addition to the fishing spots there are open fields perfect for a kickball game, a playground, horseshoe pits, and a community building and game room. The campground is gated. - Bonnie Lee
Aug 2013 - $15.00
Overall this is a fairly nice campground. We were parked next to a stream that seemed very tame until the monsoon hit. I watched it continue to rise and eventually called the manager (not on site). She said that it would have to rain for 2-3 more days before the stream overran. It was only at one foot from the top so I have doubts about that. Rain stopped two hours later and all was well. Trees were a problem with satellite, and cell was questionable. Rate reflects Passport America. - keydet

We camped here while on a job that lasted a couple months. The campground is perfect if you want a scenic place to park and not a lot around you. It is located within a reasonable distance from major cities that can meet all your needs. Its just a peaceful place to park a while and enjoy nature. It is located high upon a mountain so kind of hard to pull in big rigs, but our 36' fifth wheel fit just fine. Enjoyed the stay. - 3paynes

Park is in the state park. Has sites with shade and sites in open area. 30A hookup. Used electric only with our popup. Restrooms were clean and we'll maintained. Didn't use showers but they also we're clean. Hiking trails located behind campground along with ski and activity area close by. Dump station available on the campground across from the restroom/shower. Would stay here again. - Frankk

I think this park with it's out of level sites, which are hard to get to, was very disappointing. When we were there, the host and PA park central both told us of a boil water notice. Bugs were released overhead to control the Gypsy moth infestation. Billions of them mistook my wife and I for their target. The roads surrounding blue knob are tough to maneuver, but we escaped after our stay was up. Never to return. Oh, and the electric kept popping on and off. I can only assume that was bug overload. Imagine a hilly field with power poles. - joemama

IGNORE YOUR GPS: Do not go down Lemon Road. It's rutty, narrow and a steep downhill. We found a better way. From 219: Take South 403 about half a mile. Bear right onto 601 South and go about 1 1/4 miles. Turn left onto Plank Road (Look for Stoystown sign on left.) Make an immediate right onto Quemahoning Dam Road. Go about 2 1/2 miles. Entrance sign is on left. It's easy to miss. Down low about two feet off ground. Can't read it until you turn in. If you are coming from the other direction, it's on the right and easily viewable. There is no check-in procedure. You pull in, drive down a gravel area and make a right into the campground through the cattle gate. Then you find your site which you were given when you reserved. There is no water on site, although there are spigots around to get water. You have electric at your site. The sites are close together and on dirt/gravel. There are two bathhouses but one is at the entrance for the pavilions and there's one in the campground but near the cabins. If you need to use a bathhouse, it will be a bit of a hike. There is a beach with a swimming area and you can rent kayaks, paddle boards and canoes. There is a large picnic area with pavilions and a playground. They have a dump station but it's not marked and we walked all over trying to find it. It's also not listed on their map. We finally found the pipe sticking out of the ground next to the bathhouse at the upper end of campground. No wifi but decent cell on T-Mobile and AT&T. - Ceil-54
Jul 2019 - $25.00
We chose this campground because it's not far from the Flight 93 Memorial. Coming from the east, Route 30 is one hilly road. Once we turned off Route 30, the road really narrowed and it would have been impossible for two RVs to pass. Cars and trucks either backed up to a wider spot in the road or pulled off as much as they could. Once you see the Family Camp sign and turn right, you're in a public use beach parking lot. You have to turn right onto the paved road thru the "cattle gates". There is no sign or office. Your confirmation email serves as your car pass. Once inside the roads are paved. Our site was very roomy and overlooked a wooded area and the water. There's no Wifi, water or sewer although we did have AT&T reception. Not very crowded mid week but it looks like it could be popular weekend spot. Wouldn't recommend it for an overnite because the road access is slow and demanding. Picnic table and fire pit. Lots of trees. Easy water access for swimming or watercraft. Overall very nice. On the way out the GPS took us on a different route which seemed shorter and better. They did respond quickly to a site request online but there is no one to help when you arrive. - Team Asphalt

The park manager was very personable and accommodating! He actually took us right to our spot and moved around the picnic table to best suit the setup. The swim area was great -water was reasonably warm for beginning of June. The dam is very pretty! They do not allow gas engine boats -- which was perfect for us. We have kayaks so it was nice and peaceful for my husband to be able to take our 2 year old to fish. I would highly recommend this campground. Relatively small place with minimal store essentials. Also, electric is the only available hookup. No sewage or garbage disposal at campground. - ashleymcdavidson

Things have changed since last posting. Gravel roads and sites are now dirt with many large holes. Only three of the sites (pull thru) are available for over nighters, all others have been taken by settlers. Many of the settler’s sites are nice but some are trash. If you stay on the weekly or monthly program you pay for electricity. Showers, restrooms and laundry are so dirty I refused to do laundry and went to town. The owner informed us that the park is up for sale and they are not doing any maintenance unless it’s an emergency. Overall the park is only a shell of its former self. We would go back because it’s the lesser of two evils and the only parks in the area. - Bounder1
Jul 2012 - $30.00
Shore Power 50/30/20. Sewer good. Caution water pressure is very high at 120 psi. Be sure to use a water regulator. Verizon and Sprint Air cards are good. AT&T Cell phone has good signal. Lots of room to walk your pet. Sites are very long and gravel. The road in campground is packed gravel. Good distance between sites. Office person is nice but not always in the office. No discounts. A number of long term tenants but they keep nice sites. This is not a good place for children. There are a number of construction people staying here. The cable is very good. Satellite signal is easy to access. Owner has a RV Repair shop and a lot of used campers are stored on the outer edges of the property. This is not one of the better campgrounds, but I have been in much worse. I would stay here again if I were in the area. - TXBobcat

Been camping here for many years. Sites are nice and fairly level. Most are under tree canopy so the air conditioner doesn't have to work overtime. - Smooshdad

Great Park. Lots of trails to hike and bike on. Lake that you can boat on. There is a boat launch right in the campground. And a place to park your trailers when not in use. Most sites are in the shade and are large and spacious. They do have 7 nice sized loops each with it's own host and bathroom facilities. Two of the loops are pet friendly, but the rest of the park is not. Nice camp store that you can pick up supplies. They do offer Wifi for a fee, which I found to be very expensive (this was the only reason I rated this campground an 8 instead of a 9 or 10). But I could get online via my phone so I just used it while camping there. Park is very clean and we loved the site we had. Couple different dump stations located thru the park makes dumping a breeze as you leave. This is a State Park and no alcoholic beverages are allowed. Make sure you hike up to "Headache Hill" for a great view of the lake and surrounding area from the top of a huge white water tower. About a 3.5 mile round trip hike from the campground. - Mtbkski

We could not get a site at Prince Gallitzin State Park, so we opted to stop here and see if they had any sites available. The staff was very welcoming and provided us with a choice of some spots to park with 30 amp service. There are several places to dry-camp and they have potable water and a dump station in the park. The camp ground has mostly year-round residents and a few park models, but was close to a small ice cream stand, mini-golf and pizza shop as well as a horse riding stable. The sites are wooded and other campers that we met were very friendly. It's not fancy, but will do in a pinch! - sfedeli
