We enjoyed the small, but quite opened, campground. - Barbara lanzendorfer
May 2019 - $26.00
Park is in the state park. Has sites with shade and sites in open area. 30A hookup. Used electric only with our popup. Restrooms were clean and we'll maintained. Didn't use showers but they also we're clean. Hiking trails located behind campground along with ski and activity area close by. Dump station available on the campground across from the restroom/shower. Would stay here again. - Frankk

I think this park with it's out of level sites, which are hard to get to, was very disappointing. When we were there, the host and PA park central both told us of a boil water notice. Bugs were released overhead to control the Gypsy moth infestation. Billions of them mistook my wife and I for their target. The roads surrounding blue knob are tough to maneuver, but we escaped after our stay was up. Never to return. Oh, and the electric kept popping on and off. I can only assume that was bug overload. Imagine a hilly field with power poles. - joemama

Sep 2019 - $38.00
Poorly maintained, no hot water in bath house, no toilet paper or paper towels in women's restroom for at least 12 hours, pool was not heated as advertised, fiberglass picnic table at site caused allergic reactions to people in my group, campsites were not very private. I would not stay here again. - Old Camper 64
Apr 2019 - $18.00
We stayed here when they just opened for the season. The man who checked us in was very nice and let us pick whatever 30 amp site that we wanted since the park was pretty empty. The park is in need of repairs and updates. The bathrooms were really rusty and smelled like mold so I skipped using the showers. Apparently they were still working on getting the water up and running so while we were there the water came out brown. The man who checked us in told us not to drink the water but it was safe to use in our rig. After seeing very brown water come out of the faucet we decided to use our bottled water for everything in our rig. We only stayed here one night. For the value it was fine for a overnight but I would have to go back to see if anything has improved before raising the score. Our site was level with shade. - RV Path chosen
Aug 2012 - $25.00
Stayed here 4 nites to see the area. Enjoyed the town of Buford and the covered bridge tour. The campground is more for an overnight stop. Sites are level and the pool looked clean. There are 2 levels to the grounds. The lower level is large and has shade around the outside sites, weekend is busy but we were the only ones in the park by Sunday nite. There is no cable TV, Wi-Fi or TV ant. reception. There are no planned activities and the park is in need of undating. Bathroms were fairly clean, but in need of repair. Office is open around mid morning and in the afternoon for a while if they don't have something else to do. Might stay again, but only as an overnight stop. - Evorider

This is a very large park with lots of mobile homes and RV sites. There are multiple pools (closed this time of yr.) and lakes for fishing (well used). Our site was long BUT only a small part was level. The map to our site was confusing but made it safely. The roads are narrow but if you drive slowly they are safe. Lots of trees but got satellite. The utilities where well placed and worked as designed. We would stay here again. - sjones
Sep 2019 - $55.00
We stayed here as a base to see the Flight 93, Johnstown Flood, and the Allegheny National Parks. Over and was very happy with our site. The site hookups components were solid, power was consistent with 50 amp, water pressure was adequate with a pressure regulator, cable TV was solid, although we could not get SAT reception. Our site was very large and our neighbors were a good distance away, although we had a small bit of leveling to do on the passengers side, but was done quickly. Only issue was some road noise from the nearby highway and the only reason why I did not give it a 10 rating, but the noise was drowned out with the doors shut and A/C on. Overall a nice place to stay, as we are using it again on the return trip. We camped at Friendship Village in a Travel Trailer. - D-Miller
Aug 2019 - $55.00
Very nice campground and well kept, staff seemed on the young side but very good and helpful, great stop to see the Flight 93 Memorial. Some road noise but we got used to it after a while. - DBLR

Things have changed since last posting. Gravel roads and sites are now dirt with many large holes. Only three of the sites (pull thru) are available for over nighters, all others have been taken by settlers. Many of the settler’s sites are nice but some are trash. If you stay on the weekly or monthly program you pay for electricity. Showers, restrooms and laundry are so dirty I refused to do laundry and went to town. The owner informed us that the park is up for sale and they are not doing any maintenance unless it’s an emergency. Overall the park is only a shell of its former self. We would go back because it’s the lesser of two evils and the only parks in the area. - Bounder1
Jul 2012 - $30.00
Shore Power 50/30/20. Sewer good. Caution water pressure is very high at 120 psi. Be sure to use a water regulator. Verizon and Sprint Air cards are good. AT&T Cell phone has good signal. Lots of room to walk your pet. Sites are very long and gravel. The road in campground is packed gravel. Good distance between sites. Office person is nice but not always in the office. No discounts. A number of long term tenants but they keep nice sites. This is not a good place for children. There are a number of construction people staying here. The cable is very good. Satellite signal is easy to access. Owner has a RV Repair shop and a lot of used campers are stored on the outer edges of the property. This is not one of the better campgrounds, but I have been in much worse. I would stay here again if I were in the area. - TXBobcat

Every nice in town park. Car wash right outside park entrance. Convenient to everything. - PJ Norris
Oct 2018 - $40.00
As others have noted the campground is situated on a slight hill and the turns in the campground are somewhat tight for a larger rig. But my 39' motorhome turns quite sharply so it wasn't a big problem for me. As instructed in my emailed confirmation, I stopped at the office near the road and was greeted warmly by staff and directed to my site. Unhooking toad was suggested near the storage buildings by the staff. My pull-thru site was sloping but my levelers were able to compensate. No problems at all with power. The sites are tight but I did not have a next-door neighbor during my stay. My only complaint was that the water pressure was low, reading about 30 psi on my gauge. I would certainly stay here again, perhaps requesting a back-in site which appeared a little longer and more level. - Rob R

Watch such side of the road your GPS tells you the campground is on. One side is the convention center and across the street is the campground. It's a little hard to see it. - har-fl

May 2018 - $50.00
My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at this campground. We brought our puppy and were treated like rockstars by everyone! They were busy for Memorial Day weekend in addition to having a lot of seasonal people staying. All of the people were very pleasant and all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The owner even brought me a component of my frozen cocktail from her home when I ran out. Our pull through site was brand new (we were the first to use it) and was fairly level but could have used a bit more gravel. I'm sure they will take care of it though. Nice fire ring and good water pressure and quality. We had a 50 amp full hook up site that was a pull through. They have a nice dog park and there were lots of kids playing and having fun. There is not much to do in Saxton, the nearest town, but Trough Creek State Park is beautiful, as is Raystown Lake. There is a small camp store with firewood, ice, and a few odds and ends, but there is a Dollar General 3 miles away. We would definitely come back again. - FredSanford
Jul 2016 - $50.00
Staff were outstanding--from helping me park the RV at 10:00 Friday night to offering to open the office to get firewood and helping fix a clogged toilet. The campground is very dog friendly and actually has a dog park. The campground itself is quiet and the other guests were friendly. We will definitely return. - NMarlin
Oct 2011 - $45.00
This quiet little gem sits on a beautiful mountain in the Allegany's. It is relatively new (5 years) old, very clean and is constantly being improved by the owners. These folks were the nicest and provided red carpet treatment during our stay. They delivered a hefty load of firewood for $6 right to our fire ring. The sites are a good size with a mostly level gravel surface. We stayed in the middle of October during the peak leaf viewing season. A beautiful State Park is nearby with hiking trails, fishing, etc... and it's free. Other than hiking or fall fishing there is not much to do during the off season around the lake. Try to plan you weekend around a local festival or just plan on relaxing away from civilization for your stay. Saxton is a short drive with Bedford about 30 min away. Only complaint was the poor Verizon cell service in the mountains. It was not a campground thing, it was a Verizon thing. Other campers said that they had better luck with Sprint when out of the forest. Overall a very nice place that we would go back to. - zbittcamper

Aug 2017 - $50.00
We were in the pull through spots, they are a great location to the bathhouse and dock/boat slip. Our site was big with a paved platform for our camper (which was perfectly level!), gravel and grass beside the camper. Our area was swampy when we arrived. It looked like they had tried to make it less swampy by adding some shale. We dug a little stream which helped it to drain. Bugs are really bad, gnats everywhere and bothersome for the dogs and when cooking food. Make sure you bring tiki torches, bug spray, candles etc. The staff was friendly and helpful. We encountered several people that were told they could not bring a specific breed of dog, which is a shame. We rented a pontoon boat for half a day (200 half day, 380 full day) which was nice to get out on the water. The staff helping us with the boat was great and down to earth. It is a quiet campground, seems to be a lot of spaces for a privately owned campground. There is a loop of season/permanent campers. There is no cell service (AT&T, someone said they had 3 bars with Verizon), wifi wasn't bad but you didn't have a good enough connection to watch videos or anything. Full hookups (water, sewer, and electric (20, 30, 50). We had great water pressure, the best I've had at any campground. A nice fiberglass picnic table and a fire ring available to use at each site. Firewood was $9 at the store, you have to order by 4 to have it delivered after 5. We went down the road and got some wood (because it was after hours) from a self-serve place. I was disappointed that there was no way to swim or let the dogs swim at the campground. They only have a boat slip and docks, which you can't swim off of. About 20 minutes away is a day use area that the dogs can swim and there is a beach area. For this reason, I think we might try another campground if we return. For the price, it's a good deal though. No off leash dog park available either but, some doggie pick up stations around. - WVSunshine
Jul 2013 - $45.00
This is a no frills campground, but it is nice and clean. There are quite a few sites that are seasonal, but there are plenty sites available for daily and weekly rentals. The camp store is big, but they don't have a lot of amenities. Inside the store, there is free Wi-Fi, but there is not any cell service in the campground, or around the entire Raystown area at all. The store also closes around 5pm each night. They have a boat dock available to use. Our site was a decent size and pretty level, which most seemed to be level. They arrange the rentals out, so we didn't feel cramped in and had plenty of room. The bathrooms were clean and well kept. The pool looked clean, we didn't use; but there were a few kids in it. They have a playground and volleyball net next to the pool that were being used as well. We rented a pontoon boat from the Raystown resort, which was about 20-30 minutes away. We also visited the Trough Creek State Park for some hiking and biking, which was very nice. - Camper_Girl
Aug 2012 - $50.00
We camped here in a 45 ft motorhome and the owners of the campground were two of the nicest people we have met at a campground. We were guided to site 208 and requested a site with satellite service. The owner and handy man made sure all was working well before leaving. We also rented a pontoon boat and that was in very nice condition and was very enjoyable day on the lake. They drove by our site many times during our 4 day stay to be sure we had everything we need for an enjoyable stay. The road leading to the campground is about 2 miles long and winding, but no problem at all for our 45 footer towing a Tahoe. I can recommend this campground and you will receive the same level of service we did. - dana salkeld

Beautiful quiet park with grass and trees and lakes. We had a site located on a tiered hill but had no problem leveling. We had a difficult time getting to the park off the Virginia turnpike. Directions are confusing and following the GPS had to navigate under a very low bridge. - kks
May 2019 - $37.00
Very large and well kept park. We stayed at G-300. Large green area as part of campsite. Great for kids or dogs, (On pet friendly loop.) Lots to do at park. - BDP
Oct 2018 - $48.00
We love state parks with full hook ups. This RV camping area is very new looking and well kept. It is on a gentle slope with terraced camping sites, which are mostly level. The tent camping areas are a bit more primitive looking. It is a huge park around a lake. There were areas around the lake where you could not walk your dog. The beach was closed to everyone - people or dogs. Our campsite utilities were convenient. We talked to a "regular" who said that the campsite is very full in the summer and on weekends. We can believe it. Mid-week in October it was mostly empty and very pleasant. - ShoreXplorers

We parked the RV here two nights while visiting family nearby. We did not stay in the rig or use any of the facilities. The owner is pleasant. The park is in rough shape and 99% of the residents are long term. There are 6 pull-thru sites. We did feel that the campground was safe and felt comfortable leaving the RV unattended. Because there is not much in/out traffic small overhead branches caught the top of the RV as we were going to and from our site. We were not able to get completely level. - SoonerMom
Sep 2016 - $28.00
We needed to stay near Johnstown and this was the closest. Not your average park for travelers. Most are setup as seasonal trailers and tents for family getaways in a heavily wooded campground. The regulars are friendly and they had a lot going on for kids on the weekend and several play areas. The park itself is very run down and bathrooms, laundry, etc. in poor repair. There are a few pull through sites for overnighters. Some roads are paved, some sites are graveled, some are overgrown grass. That said, we enjoyed being in the cool woods and the feeling of camping. - Traveler Anne

The campground was nice. The manager was as nice as can be. I forgot my cable wire and he had one and gave to me for TV hookup. Hemlock Hideaway is mainly seasonal camping and the CG is on a side of a mountain. Steep roads but tons of trees and you don't feel on top of anybody. Lots of space between sites. They are close to the lake but no lake access. You have to go to a boat launch. The pool was nice DW and little one loved it. They were easy to get to, but the mountain to get over just have 100% confidence in your TV to get you over it. It's a biggie and straight up baby! There was a ton of stuff to do. We just had time to go to Trough State park, highly recommended if you like easy to moderate hiking. Rainbow Falls, well lets just say it is a falls, but not a big one. Balance rock was pretty cool, and the suspension bridge was ok. The hiking was great! We had a great day for hiking: nice and cool and not too long. Very pretty park. We also went to the Lake Raystown State Park. The next big town is Saxton which is about a half hour away from the CG. My main complaint is that both Target and Wal-Mart are in Altoona. That's about an hour away. But the drive was pretty and we didn't mind. - n3qdz
