This park is immaculate. The grass is always cut & trimmed & the pool is sparkling. It is located right on the Allegheny River so a lot of the campers went tubing & some took kayaks further up the river. The owners were very friendly & helpful. Only about a third of the park is seasonal & it is all kept neat & clean. There is a dog park & plenty of play areas for kids. You can go to Coudersport or Port Allegheny for shopping or restaurants. There are lots of trees to keep you cool during the summer. They do have a 2 week rate where you pay your own electric, which was very reasonable. My only complaint would be that the neighbor's fire ring was in a place that allowed their some to come in our eating area & bedroom windows. We'd definitely return. - goldenruler
Jun 2019 - $45.00
We stayed at Allegheny River Campground as we traveled across northern PA on US 6. We originally has scheduled 3 days , but liked the location so much we decided to stay for about a week. We used it as a base for exploring the area. It's close to Cherry Springs State Park, a certified Dark Sky Park, which I visited for night photography. The park is just a nice place to relax right on the Allegheny River. We would certainly stay there again. - delhawk
Jul 2018 - $30.00
A lot of improvements have been made since we last stayed here. Hard packed crushed rock have been added to the sites making leveling a lot easier. The hook ups are towards the rear so you may need extra hoses. AT & T phones do not work in the park nor does the TV antenna. The wifi does work at your site. The owners are VERY helpful and are on site all the time. The park does get quite busy on the weekends. Our site was in the pine trees and did get pitch on the roof. - Al and Anne-Marie

Jul 2011 - $23.00
Our rate was based on stay of eight nights. We stayed over July 4th weekend. Level site, plenty long for our 60' rig and wide due to trees separating our site (not all sites as wide). The site we had allowed us to get our satellite dish aimed but we had very little Verizon access for our phones or internet (air card). The only downside for us was the dust...being a holiday weekend, the park was packed...with ATVers and the amount of dust from them was staggering. Would have been nice to have the road watered daily to help out. Would have been a nine rating then. Great location for exploring the area...we ride motorcycles and we never lacked for good riding. - Froggi Donna
Apr 2010 - $22.00
Very nice park. There was only one other couple staying here this weekend. Looked like they were seasonal. Very quiet of course, and the bathrooms and shower rooms were VERY clean and spacious. A friend recommended this CG, and I am glad they did. We will stay here again. On another note: we checked in about 5pm, the owners were gone for the night and left a note to check-in tomorrow. We never did hook up. When we got home, they finally called and we paid for our site. I was a little worried, but they weren't. Very nice lady. Lots were spacious, room between the sites and they had nice picnic tables and fire rings. We only used the water/electric sites, but they do offer full hookups and there was easy access to a pump station: which is always appreciated. - Ohiojude
Oct 2007 - $25.00
This park is right across the road from a restraurant. The park is neat and clean. The owners are friendly. There is a snowmobile/ATV trail adjacent to the park. The park rents ATV's. There is no Cingular cell phone service. You have to go to the center of Coudersport to obtain a cell phone signal. We have stayed in this park several times. - JoeGin2

Very clean restrooms, only one shower for men and one for women. Electric service was good, no sewer hook up only dump station. Water bibs along road, no cable. Satellite and be picked up on sites 10 & 11. Full time host and they keep the park up very nicely. six miles to Emporium and limited shopping. Six of us eat breakfast at the nearby Buttonwood Motel and it was great and only cost $33.00. Great swimming Pool cold but clean and has life guards and kiddie pool. - Joe-Sandy
Aug 2015 - $25.00
We agree with the above review would like to add that only electric at each site, water bibs spaced along the road, sewer dump station. FREE fire wood, small stream running through sites, free swimming pool, play grounds for the kids. The best nature you could ask for. No Wi-Fi or cell service at park you will have to go into Emporium 6 +/- miles away to get either. Deer, Bear & Elk sightings if you are quite plus they have an Elk viewing area just a short drive from the park. The area is perfect if you love nature. - Joe-Sandy
Aug 2010 - $22.00
This is a very quiet , scenic campground in a real wilderness area. There are well over 200,000 acres of state forest here. A great place for hikers and seeing wildlife with Elk, Bear, Deer and just about anything else that roams the PA wilds. Not much to do in the area but if you want to get back to nature this is it. - GDM

This is a beautiful campground located in the middle of nowhere. The entrance road is narrow and dirt. It is located in a valley with mountains on either side. Our site was large with a gravel pad with lots of grass. Owners are super friendly and very willing to help in any way you need. On arrival the host took us around the campground and let us pick our site out of the available ones. We have Verizon and cell service in the entire area was poor but that is to be expected in this beautiful remote area. The camp store is small but has the basics if you have forgotten something but plan ahead to remember everything that you might want. There is not a large store close by. When traveling make sure you are watching closely on our way to the campground; an Elk ran across the road in front of us and at night the deer are out. No cable here but we picked a open site for our dish to work so we could see the news. There is no pool but there is a creek for the kids to play in and get cooled off on a hot summer day. There was a large field behind our camper for our dogs to play in. If you are looking for a beautiful place with piece and quiet this is place to go. We will be going back again. - joinpa
May 2014 - $25.00
A nice family oriented facility located one mile down a narrow dirt road. The sites are close together and there are lots of seasonals. The staff was friendly and while the campground was nearly deserted on the weekday we were there the weekends are reported to be very crowded and reservations are recommended. - Desert Captain
Apr 2008 - $25.00
From what we understand, new owners took over here a few yrs ago. Its a modest little CG in the middle of "God's country". The owners are SUPER friendly, and obviously try very hard to keep it up. Although it doesn't have a pool or a lot of on site activities, there are various family friendly activities on weekends. There is not a lot to do in the general vicinity, and there is no cell service for miles, so this is the place to go and get away from it all, literally. We were reluctant not to having sewage hookups, but the "honey wagon" came anytime you needed it. - blondieemtp

Jun 2017 - $34.00
This state park allows you to get away from everything, especially since there isn't any Verizon cell phone/internet service, only one radio station (at least on scan), or television channels. It is located in a valley with lots of hiking trails and a great beach area on the man-made lake (lots of canoeing).
There are two parks: Lower Campground (sites 20+) is closer to the entrance, on the right, and Daggart Run Campground (sites 1-19) is further back by the beach. Many of the sites will accommodate smaller travel trailers or pop-ups. There are a couple drive-through. Campground entrances are fairly steep and longer trailers may drag, say over 30'. Overall it is very quiet and very dark and perfect for getting the kids away from everything (except the ATVs that are very active within the park). Sites can have tree cover or not depending on site. Sites only have electric (ours had 50/30/20 amp), no water, no sewer. Dump site is only at Lower Campground. There is a potable water spout near the dump site and around the campgrounds. Office staff are very friendly and helpful. Rangers cruised the park on a regular basis. - Next Mission
Jun 2017 - $30.00
We have a big 5th wheel 40 ft, and it was longer because we had our rack down with kayaks. We were in the lower loop, site #20, which is a pull through, and that worked well. The upper loop, Daggett, is not for larger trailers at all; mostly tents and pop-up size sites. Those sites are closer together as well compared to the lower loop which offers more privacy for more sites. On the lower loop, at the end, sites 30, 31, 32 will accommodate larger rigs, as well. There are a couple of other pull-throughs, but they are very close to the road so we didn't think they offered much privacy. The restrooms and shower were very clean and roomy. But, there were no outdoor sinks for tenters to wash their dishes, but they have them at Daggett. This area is really peaceful and remote. Down the road is Cherry Springs State Park, which is where astronomy enthusiasts can set up and really enjoy the darkest night sky in Pennsylvania. Lyman Run is a great base to use to camp, and then just head 5 miles down the road to Cherry Springs and take in the stars. The Lyman Run reservoir is really nice, electric motors only. We enjoyed kayaking. Rentals are available as is mooring of your boat. Lots of fishing (crappies, bass, blue gills, trout) in the reservoir, along the spillway, and the run itself. The beach is very sandy and nice for families, as is the concession stand with reasonable prices for food, ice, and camp wood. Off the grid, so forget about Internet and cell coverage is spotty--but really, isn't that why we come to places like this? - LibraryMom
Nov 2015 - $28.00
We stayed here to visit the observation field at Cherry Springs. This park helped because the ranger station at the park is the same one for cherry springs so we got weather updates and visibility reports. There is No cell service or TV signal in this park which made the ranger station that much more useful when planning our nightly trip to stargaze. The bathrooms were clean and the ranger was helpful. We will definitely stay here again. Even though the sites are small we had no issue maneuvering around the campground or setting up in the site. - Grant7890

Extremely small campground. Bathhouse was cleaned up daily, toilet area was ok but showers stalls were moldy and paint peeling. Roads through and around the campground were like 1 lane paths. Beautiful Park office though. - Jo-Jay
Aug 2015 - $21.00
Went to area to see elk and we were not disappointed. Campground had minimal services (electric only) but knew that going in. Site was gravel/grass and level with nice spacing between sites. Bathrooms were very clean and campground host pleasant and helpful. Park staff at visitor center were eager to provide information about wildlife, hiking trails, etc. A bonus were the clear, dark skies.
Really isolated with no internet or cell service available. - Dave F

Everything we hoped for and more. Took a pontoon boat nature ride out on the lake with rangers speaking on wildlife. The new nature center is wonderful. Would recommend to all our family and friends! - Naturelvr

Overpriced and lacking. If you require or just desire clean restrooms and showers you will want to drive on by this campground. While it has some of the largest trees you are likely to see in the state, its "shower" facility is a joke and the bathroom isn't much better. If you don't need either you might like this campground just fine, but it's still pricey, and noisy. - jerry6

Great park! Hidden away from the road, but close to a lot of things. Stayed for 3 days and made reservations for a whole week next summer. Very nice owner, and nice big sites. - shell5

Nice place, a little off the beaten path, but well worth it. Treed, level spots. Good Wi-Fi. Interior roads a little rough, grass spaces. It had rained and was muddy, but that’s New York. Pleasant owners. We had stayed here before and would stay again. - runamuka

We loved this park. We drove up from Florida to get out of our summer heat. Prior to arriving the lady on the phone was pleasant to deal with and helped answer all our questions being that we were first time campers with a motorhome. Check in was easy. The lady was owner who stays on site. She was very friendly and always drove around to check on her campground. Always said hello to us and our kids. There are permanent campers here ,but everyone we encountered were friendly. Lots to do if you like; swimming pool, paddle boats, canoes, walk and see animals in the morning time. We got to drive around and pick what site we wanted as it was not that full. Picked a shade spot back in the pines and got lucky to have one with a sewer drain at the site so we did not have to run to the dump station. Look around at the sites under rocks you may have one at your site. We fished; they said the fish like hotdogs but we used worms and were catching bass left and right. Had two playgrounds that were very well dated but usable for my kids. Fire ring on each campsite. We stayed here to have family come and visit us. Nice quiet area, owners are nice and people were great. Would stay here again if we are up that way. - crosspointepaul
Jul 2007 - $20.00
Based strictly on appearance, this is a no frills campground. The campground appeared to be about 1/3 full with quite a number of permanent campers. Unfortunately, the new owners, who handled our check-in, admitted that the elderly man who owned the campground had let it get out of control and become pretty trashy. Even today the bumpy dirt roads inside the campground and the narrow road to reach the campground would discourage most campers. But since our purpose for camping here was to attend the annual balloon rally in Wellsville, 6 miles away, and the only closer campground was filled, we had little choice but to stick it out. It is definitely not in our plans to return at anytime soon, even though we frequently attend the rally. Fortunately, cooler weather made A/C unnecessary so we saved $3.00 per day. There is one dump station but no rest rooms or shower facility. Saturday evening dances and two fishing lakes provide added enjoyment, for those who are interested. - howard
Jun 2007 - $25.00
This is a nice campground. Nothing fancy, but a good partially quiet campground (they had a band play, during the day, that was really loud). This was the 2nd time I have camped here. The sites are huge. The scenery is awesome. The camp store has nothing. The outhouses are the dirtiest I have ever seen. I would not camp here if not for the built in bathroom of my TT. Overall this is a nice (not fancy) campground. It is worth a visit is you just want a few days away from civilization. - colts14760

We enjoyed the campground. We were there at the end of the season and basically had the park to ourselves. We had a broken spring hanger on our trailer, and the owner went beyond the call of duty to get it fixed. He provided tools, helped us get it fixed, and brought in a local welder. We had a back-in site with power. Sewer connection was too far back to be useful. The campground needs some work, but the owner is making improvements. We will return if we are in the area. - Idcruiserman
Aug 2017 - $32.00
Trout Run is a family owned campground, and they aim to please. While my husband was checking in they chatted with him and found out that he brought his golf clubs and couldn't wait to watch the game the next night, and changed our site accordingly. They provided us with a big pull through site that wasn't under the trees and faced in the right direction so he could get a signal for satellite service. They are very receptive to making your stay as comfortable and pleasing as they can. The sites are quite roomy, the campground were quiet, and there were activities on the weekends and we had no problem with any of our utilities. We stayed two weeks, so I used the laundry twice and had a positive experience. Though there were always some machines out of order they were never the same machines which tells me that they repair them often. In fact, they were constantly improving the grounds the entire two weeks we stayed. The driving range was wonderful and self service. The pool my husband visited but only once due to the weather only being at 75* if we were lucky even though it was August! The speed bumps are sneaky and hard to see, be sure to drive slowly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Trout Run and highly recommend it. - krmihalk
