We had reservations and arrived to a closed office at 12:45 on a Monday afternoon. We called 3 different numbers trying to reach someone. We finally did and were told they would arrive shortly. By this time we had found a "nite check-in" service and along with instructions from the lady who returned our call, walked the campground looking for a site with services. We were told to look at sites 10-22, which all have full hook-ups at this time of year. Only one of these sites was anywhere near level - but large trees everywhere (and narrow roadways) would make it difficult to pull in and out of these pull-thru sites. A little gravel and a grater would go a long way towards fixing many of these sites. After walking the campground for 15 minutes and still struggling with where to park, we decided to leave. We will not return to this campground again. - Kemptvillekids
Dec 2015 - $16.00
Rate is figured on a months stay. Being in December can not judge how park is during peak time. Parked in area that has services available year round. Sites very close. Many permanent residents. Transient sites look to be much larger. Manager very nice. Can see they are attempting improvements. - phyllen

This park is now called Jonestown AOK Campground and has been under new management for the past year. They are working on bringing the campground up to date. That being said, it looks like they pay the bills by allowing lots of older trailers to stay permanently onsite.
We needed a spot for one night on the Monday night of the Labor Day Weekend. We could not find cheaper accommodations so we picked this park as it was on our route.
The RV site was fine for us: it was level, had an adequate electrical service, water pressure was good at 50 psi, the sewer was fine but most access points in the park lacked a good sealing cap so there were sewer odors at times.
It was mostly quiet while we were there except for the locals leaving the park at 4:30-6:30am. We were located on an end site near the exit road. It appeared to be the transient RV site area.
If this was a Passport America park we would stay again. $22 would be more appropriate for this type of RV park. - Howard Jaros

Wonderful KOA! We pulled in for overnight stop and check in was fast and easy. Small snackbar located in the store that had food, milk, cold beverages, etc along with camping supplies. It was clean, organized and reasonable. Short drive off I81 with fuel station close by and fast food restaurant. In our evening walk we saw river running along one side of the campground with spots along the river. We were able to get a satellite shot. Quiet well managed park. Pull thru space and did not need to unhook. We would definitely stay here again. - Tomandgloria

We used this Park is a base camp for exploring the region. In particular to spend some time at Hershey Park. This is a very nice KOA journey and it certainly has a lot of in and out traffic. But there were a number of units like ours that were here for the long holiday weekend. My only complaint is our "patio" site really wasn't very good. As a pull through site it would be fine especially if they added a little more gravel. With some short bouts of rain the gravel that was their turned a little muddy. The patio area was not properly aligned for a long motorhome pull through. While you could argue there was certainly enough room to re-orient the motorhome to use the patio we would've been substantially out of level because of the sloping nature of the site. They have a wonderful store, office, deli to go. They deliver to your site. The feature roasted barbecued chicken and pork products. They also have tremendously delicious soft serve ice cream. We ordered some chicken wings and those were very generous in the serving and well-made. In fact in comparison to the Buffalo region they were under priced for what restaurants. - wdw

This was our second stay at this park. We stayed here for the RV show in Hershey. They provide a convenient shuttle to the show. We were in Site 30. Its a back in next to the creek. It has a concrete pad. Very nice site. Luckily we had a nice weekend with no rain and no threat from the creek. Unfortunately they have been flooded 3 times this year. The park looked good under the circumstances. They have a nice convenience/camp store with a nice menu of food that is very reasonable. Hubby had wings and i had a cheeseburger that was delivered to our site. Nice dog park and plenty of area to walk. Easy on and off 81. Even though they were booked full this weekend they left sites for weary travelers. They have many pull through sites. Had a nice visit with the owner on shuttle. Very nice family owned and run park. - handette

May 2019 - $1.00
Hershey had to be the most beautiful Thousand Trails RV park we have yet been in! That being said, I do have a few gripes. First, the dog owners need to make sure their dogs are under control. We had an experience with a large dog knocking my husband against a wall to try to get to his smaller dog. (no one was hurt) Secondly, the geese, although beautiful and nice to watch, make a mess along the pond and grassy areas. Be aware that if your dog drinks the lake water or consumes the doggy delicacy of goose poop, you run the risk of giardia and other little nasties that make dogs ill. How do I know this? I had a sick little guy for a couple of weeks after we left. Now...good stuff. Make sure you walk around the entire park. The tent area is back and up the hill. Just beautiful during the week when there aren't many campers. The little grocers on the highway just before Mt Pleasant Rd, on the right coming south, is a great place to purchase produce and other fun food items. We didn't go out and do much during our stay due to the weather, but the area has so many hiking trails that you could do a different one every day for a couple of weeks! In Anneville, there is a place called the Corvette Grille and Bar. Highly recommend it! Not much to look at the but food is amazing, not expensive, and the service is friendly. If and when we make it back to the northeast we will stay here again. The management is quick and attentive to your needs. The rangers/workers are extremely friendly and willing to help. - LongTermParking
May 2019 - $3.00
We really like this park. It’s one of the best Thousand Trails has to offer. The friendly staff really make you feel welcome. They don’t assign you a site but they did give a suggestion of where to look. I really appreciate not having to wander through the whole park trying to find a site. We stayed in a section that required $3 a nite for 50amp. IDK either. The park seemed to be kid friendly because we saw several enjoying different activities. - Hobbes
Jun 2018 - $26.00
Made advanced registration but when we showed up at the entrance gate the gentleman said he did not have us on record. Nevertheless, he was very helpful and accommodating guiding us to a site. Turns out the office was closed on Sunday very early so there was no one to check with about the reservation and no one available (except the maintenance gent) to pay for the propane we obtained. It would have been nice if the person who took the reservation had told us these things before we showed up. Other than that the park was clean and neat. Since it was pouring rain most of our overnight stay we cannot comment on the facilities there. - Bob & Stephanie
Sep 2017 - $1.00
Very small spots in F section. We we so close to camper next to us that we could smell their sewer. I should have taken it as a warning when the ranger ask me how many blocks we had with us when we got there. No level spots and no way we had enough blocking. Weeds even in flower beds taller than us. And shooting nearby all day all weekend. Picnic table at site was black from weather. We will not use this campground again. - Rshoster67
Sep 2017 - $48.00
We stayed 2 nights for the Hershey RV show. Easy to get to from the interstate. It was a last minute decision so the park was very full. The extremely nice staff gentleman that met us at the gate and took us on a golf cart to all the site options that were still available to us was very helpful and kind. We picked a site that was easy to get in and out of. To be able to hook up to sewer we had to place our 5er so close to the side of the road that we were not able to extend our awning. The park needs lots of updating and maintenance. I did not go into the bathrooms or showers but my husband said I would not use them. Two of the showers were broke and in need of some serious cleaning. Our first night there we heard constant gun range shooting until past 8pm. There are quite a few of permanent sites and a few looked pretty "interesting" to say the least. The sites that had more privacy did not have sewer hook up but did have electric and water. Getting our RV in some of those sites with all the overhanging trees and tight turns would of been not worth the hassle for only 2 nights. I was grateful that we found a campsite on such short notice for the RV show but would not return there to camp again. - debwright
Apr 2019 - $37.00
Will not be going back, This was our maiden trip, close to home and cheap... that's all, Electrical had an open ground, unable to use EMS unit, sewer was up hill from trailer. - Kevin211
Apr 2019 - $42.00
This is a big family campground. As it was Spring Break and Easter weekend there were lots of kids. Kids were good, but parents stayed outside making noise until well after midnight, even though quiet hours are explained at check-in as beginning at 10:30pm. We were on site 344 which was high and dry, so when it rained there wasn't any issues. Very wooded so grass doesn't grow. Therefore mostly roots and mud at the sites. Pad was gravel which was fine. Lots of space between sites. Had to put a brick on hose to hold sewer hose in. Convenient to Hershey. - Dream Chasers
Jan 2019 - $42.00
The staff was more than helpful as we were running a little (two days) late and they accommodated us and changed our reservation. Bathrooms were really clean and even heated so showering was really nice. The store had a lot of options even in the off-season and the female staff member was really nice and a good conversationalist. We will definitely return. - Wesley Roll
May 2015 - $45.00
A very family friendly campground affiliated with the Church of the Brethren. Sites are widely spaced and there are fields for all sorts of sports. A spash pad and quality, reasonably prices mini golf course are also available for family fun. Excellent hiking trails surround the camp, including the Appalachian Trail. Convenient access off I-78 and near attractions such as Cabela's and Roadside America. No cell service (text or voice) for AT&T customers. Verizon service is weak. - Lancaster Camper
Jul 2014 - $30.00
Camp Swatara is a family oriented campground with wonderful amenities such as hiking, boating & fishing, swimming, volleyball and much more. Growing up my family camped there with the adult group from our church. Now I take my family there and it's still a wonderful place to go. The facilities are very well maintained and the camp store is well stocked with reasonable prices. There is so much to do there, one weekend is not long enough to fully enjoy all the amenities. The restrooms/bath houses are all well stocked and kept clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is much to do in the region if all you wish to do at Camp Swatara is sleep. It's near enough to several major tourist attractions to commute under 60 minutes, many only 1/2 hour. The only reason I did not rate Camp Swatara with a 10 is because the pool is shared with the children's day camp so pool hours vary each day and are quite limited to campers. We found it challenging to coordinate our other plans around the availability of the pool which we used during our stay. It is also somewhat of a long walk from the campground. After hiking, we were almost too tired for more walking to refresh ourselves in the pool. With all that said, we will continue to camp there, happily, over and over again. I recommend Camp Swatara to anyone camping with children and even pets. I probably should not neglect to mention it's owned by the Church of the Brethren so therefore has strict rules regarding the use of tobacco, alcohol, and playing radios. It's all forbidden. If you plan to party, book your stay elsewhere! This is a Christian-based, family oriented facility. - LeAnn Tough
Jun 2019 - $50.00
Nicest campground we've found! Beautiful and a LOT of extras! We had a small stream literally steps from our camper. - LauraPolk
Jun 2019 - $45.00
We have stopped for a one night stay three times. Staff has always been helpful, very nice campground, level sites. - Patches
Apr 2019 - $54.00
Very nice park, most sites are pull thru. - Kevin211
Jul 2016 - $45.00
Stayed three nights to visit family in area. Our space was nearly level, spacious, and clean. This park has new owners within the last year, and their efforts are obvious. Everyone was very friendly. 50 amp pedestal looked relatively new. Good water quality and pressure. I didn't swim in the pool but the water looked pristine, and the pool area was well maintained. Owners live onsite so they were always nearby and responsive. With the new owners the previous ratings no longer apply. - Skye Blu
Jul 2008 - $32.00
This wooded and cramped campground needs to decide if it is going to be a seasonal only campground or if it wants to attract more families. The sites are not very level, the hookups are on the wrong side at half of the sites, and there is a pile of trashed picnic tables at the far end. The pool is small and older, not filthy but not clean either. Few services are provided (there is only one dumpster) without fee, including the "pay extra for air conditioning" fee. The office is open a few hours a week. The volleyball court is overgrown with grass, the playground equipment is fair at best, and the roads are tight for a larger rig. The wildlife is nice, though; we heard an owl on several occasions and the locusts were out in force. The other wildlife we saw was a two inch cockroach that crawled across the basketball court. If the daily rate was $8 lower, this review rate would be five points higher. Save your money and go elsewhere; this is not a sufficient base camp for attractions. We won't be coming back. - badge022
Oct 2018 - $44.00
Going here for 42 years. Great campground. Everyone is very nice and great views. - ShawnH
Aug 2018 - $45.00
We made a late reservation to Starlite, but they were able to accommodate us. Our site had full hook ups. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. The store was very well stocked. It had everything one could want. The site was pretty level. I did need to use some leveling blocks but when I did the trailer was dead on. The connections were convenient. If I had to find something to nitpick it would be that the sewer connection was not threaded and you had to find a heavy object to put on top of it to make sure that the hose didn't come out of the ground. Also, our site was a little difficult to back into because the interior roads are narrow. Our site was wooded which afforded us quite a bit of privacy. Bathrooms were clean. The view from the plateau sites was really nice. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back. - Tim W
Jul 2018 - $54.00
Spent this past weekend there. Despite the constant rain, we had a wonderful time. Our campsite was on Lower Plateau Road. What a gorgeous view! We stayed on the recommendation of a friend, and we will certainly be back! - wheezer01
