A well-named campground! It is located on a flat spot on top of a mountain. That gives it great views of the valley. Gravel back-in spots around the edge of the campground with pull-throughs in the center. Sites are gravel surrounded by grass that gets soggy and soft in the rain. The road to the campground is a little bumpy and curvey, but no problem to navigate. You can ignore the warning on their website that says Exit 14 (Bull Creek Road ) is closed. It is open. They provide a hose with a sewer connector to drain gray water down the side of the mountain and provide free honeypot service on Wednesdays. The restrooms/showers were closed for the winter so you have to use the residential bathroom in the basement of the caretaker's house. There is also a single washer and dryer in the basement. Friendly, helpful staff. Convenient location to see the sights in Pittsburgh and close to shopping. - Chuck Shrader

Traveling in a 38 foot coach we stayed 5 nights in a site for big rigs during the rainy season. We were in the back of the park and had a beautiful cliff view, but it was so not worth it! The site was a mud pit (no gravel). We were stressing over our back four tires sinking deeper and deeper. They do have a couple sites that had fresh-gravel (in the center of the park but with no view. I wouldn't recommend staying on the outside-loop if you plan on being there in rainy conditions. Do not stay in the back if it's going to rain until they re-gravel those sites. The park is flat so it looked like most of the sites were level. Our satellite worked great here. The management is very nice and the park is located in a quiet area. If you have a dog there's ample area to walk your pet. On a side note: Today we live in the age of wifi technology and there is nothing to stop this RV park from investing in doing wifi properly. For some users (such as ourselves) wifi is an important feature. - JDC10

I must say that of all the campgrounds we have stayed in over the past 5 years, Mountain Top had the best scenic views, without question. Even though we had some damp weather, sitting at the picnic table in the evenings, watching the sun set over the horizon was the highlight of the day. Now the blueprint. The CG is not convenient to the major highways, but sleeping at night with the windows open and without the constant drone of trucks on an Interstate highway was very peaceful. The local roads are not the best, a little hilly with lots of turns, and the driveway to the CG is mostly gravel, but we had no problems getting there or departing. There is no bathhouse and most of the sites do not have sewer, but there is a dump station which was not an issue getting to or using. In fact, the CG has a sewer hose attached to the dump station so all I needed was my clear sleeve to watch the flow...no fuss, no muss. It appears from signs posted at the office that a bathhouse is planned for the 2019 season, as is Wi-Fi. There are no activities or swimming pool, so the few children we saw were riding their bikes. As the CG is on the top of a flat hill, the sites with trees and shade are the ones they call the rim sites, which are around the outside perimeter, and are gravel and very level. The sites in the middle of the field have no trees or shade, but for those who need satellite reception, they will work. I must admit that the two nights we spent here on our way west were quite nice and if in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to stay here. - Love To Travel 2

This park is divided into two parts. One part for mostly seasonal and the other for short term transients. You use the facilities of the seasonal such as the pool, laundry, and showers. The park was well maintained and pleasing to the eye. The is very serious speed bumps in this park. Nice they have handicap showers (not often seen by us), The handicap shower has no lip to get into. The other showers worked well and were very clean but small. The sinks would dispense water so long as one pressed on it. Site: They will escort you to the site and were quite helpful. Sites were a little drop off the road and could have been more level. Site are set up a side-by-side and connections at the back of the site, and for us on the wrong side. We needed an extra-long coax for cable TTV, and an extra hose for water. Cable and OTA worked well. You pay a little extra for 50 AMP (we didn't have.) The speed bumps going into the campground need to be taken most slowly. The facilities pool/showers and grounds are very well maintained. The park offers activities and entertainment that we found to be very good. - KevinIrish

Stayed at Buttercup over a long weekend while one of my kids had an event near Cranberry, PA. Conveniently located close to Pittsburgh with only a short drive which is why we even tried this CG. Checkin was a breeze. Staff was very friendly. They had an Xmas is July party where gifts were handed out to children if you supplied the gift. My 6y/o is still confused why Santa was here in July and brought a gift for her. Pool was nice and not over crowded but there was a chill in the air with mild temps during our stay. Campground is primarily seasonal. Nightly spots are separated from seasonal and sort of in a field. There is a large field near nightly for kids or activities with a playground on the other end. Since separated from seasonals no golf carts flying by. It was pretty quiet at night. My only knock on the place is sites are grassy. No carpets so dirt and debris was tracked inside. Sunken ground from repeated use however made our spot almost level. Only needed one lynx leveling block. We were in a corner spot and due to how hookups are set up they informed me they will not fill the spots on either side of us. They told me to park my truck in spot behind us. Was 25 ft from water hookup so I barely made it using 1 water hose but I had more just in case. If they would've filled space behind us our hookups would've been basically under their canopy. Wouldn't have been a problem though if we were with a group. I see why they don't fill those 2 spots and I'm glad they don't force people into them. I credit the CG for that. Spots are big enough and not crammed in. Wife said restrooms near pool and office/store are clean and nice. - Newman252

Is geared towards seasonals. They have over 200 seasonal sites and about 15-20 visitor sites. Owner is very nice and personally escorted us and helped us park. It was reasonably close to Pittsburgh and we were visiting family, that's why we chose it. When we pulled up we stopped at a gate to enter the park, we were told to back up and go up a dirt path to the visitor sites. The seasonal sites are behind a gate and surrounded by a fence. We felt like an afterthought and an outcast. For the weekend it was us and maybe 4 other RV's, but they parked us all close together. The sites are laid out oddly, the electric and water hookups are on the opposite than most other campgrounds and we had to run the hoses across our site. The sewer hookup for the next site was super close to our picnic table and fire pit (like within 6 feet) The sites were very narrow, we could not fit out truck in front of the site, even perpendicular. The neighbors had a fire and they were so close I was afraid of our tanks exploding. We asked permission to receive mail there and they allowed it but didn't notify us that anything arrived and seemed annoyed when we asked. The restrooms were clean, we had to walk quite a ways around a building or else jump the fence and walk through the seasonal side. Lots of options for the area, we probably wont stay here again. Price was comparable to others. - sbrigga315

Great family campground. Very nice staff. - AndyT
Jun 2019 - $28.00
Stayed 2 nights while visiting family in the Pittsburgh area in a 38' MH. Large secluded sites with water & 30 amp power. Site has sewer dump on site near restroom / shower, but this would be challenging to pull large MH up next to because it is set back from the road. Individual sites have what appears to be sewer - but they're either not sewer or not working. Nice lady work camping for CoE showed us where our campsite was. No firewood for sale - you need to scour woods for firewood - but some camping had found enough for their sites. (We didn't try.) Campsite is adjacent to nice reservoir which had people fishing, swimming and boating (both kayaks and power boats). Sites are level (gravel) and easy to access once you get to the campground. However the north Bush Road entrance is narrow and winding. Strongly recommend using the south Bush Road entrance. We noticed that both entrances show a 10 ton limit - but we took our 32,000 lb. MH in without a problem and saw other MHs there as well. - Nildecaf
Jul 2017 - $26.00
Nice place to spend a couple days. 2 pull-throughs back in the woods with water and electric (30 amp). Everything else is back-in. Pipeline construction near the park is keeping everyone away right now I guess since the place was empty on a weekend. It's right on the lake and wooded. AT&T and Verizon worked ok. Very narrow and twisty road to get to the campground. Glad I didn't meet any other large vehicles coming the opposite direction. - 5er Swede

We stayed here for 2+ weeks. We have stayed at this park for the past three years while visiting our family. We basically park our rig, leave the campground, and stay with our family. We usually bring the grands back to the park for several days so they can enjoy the great pool here. We stay in the transient area and these sites are very close to each other. Our awning, when extended, almost touched the rig next to us. When you sit outside, under the awning, your chairs are close to the electric box and sewer hook up of the rig next to us. We were in a pull thru site and it was level. - Twirlybird
Aug 2017 - $50.00
We arrived on Saturday afternoon and left on Wednesday morning. They quoted $46 per night over the phone and told us that it would be $50 per night when we arrived. They said that they didn't know we had a large camper. That was not accurate because I always tell campgrounds what I have to ensure they have a site long enough. At $50 per night you would expect a lot more. There is no cable and no wi-fi. When we asked about cable they told us that for $50 we could get a cable box to get cable then when we return the box they would give us our money back. All travel pads are gravel. The campers are right on top of each other and in the double lots (Where they put the big rigs) you walk out your door to look at the door of the camper next to you. When we extended our awnings they were just a few inches away from our neighbors awning. They only allow 2 adults and 2 children under the age of 18 per campsite. All others are considered to be guests and you have to pay $3 for each day and $5 for overnight per person so for large families this could cost a fortune. The showers have the push button 30 second water supply which means hitting the button every 30 seconds. There has to be a better way to prevent excessive water usage. There was a sign on the shower stalls saying that they were going to renovate the showers this summer. I wonder if they put those signs up there each spring, its almost fall and the showers were not renovated. They were a mess and had spider webs in them. There is never anyone in the office. If you need anything you have to call someone and wait for them to go down to the office. They do not allow mats to be used. The owner tried to get me to park so far forward on the lot that the front of the camper was going to be sticking out in the road. I finally parked it back far enough to be out of the road. - buckeyetaz

If you are claustrophobic, Do Not stay here. Booked 2 nights and only stayed 1. The campers are so close, that our awning touched the neighbor. Said there was a fire pit and picnic table for each site. We did not have a picnic table. And be careful when using fire pit. Was afraid of setting something on fire, because everything was so close together. And good luck if you need anything, there is never anyone in office. And when you call they just get annoyed. First and last trip to this campground!!!! - Disappointed camper 2

We stayed here for a couple of nights to visit Indiana and it was perfect for our purposes. The place is almost all permanents but people were friendly and it was fun watching the kids play. We had a full hook up right next to the bathhouse, which did not bother us at all. Our site opened to a nice hill with a tree and a cornfield at the top of the hill. It was nice for letting the dogs play. I did not regret not getting a creek side site, I think our view was nicer. The campground wifi worked great but our AT&T service was spotty. - janci

Campground is mostly populated by annual visitors. However the grounds are very well maintained. Mostly grass sites with water and electric. We stayed for two days at mid week. It was very quiet with weekenders starting to arrive on Thursday. Verizon cell signal was strong. There are some shade trees but was still able to get a satellite shot. We did not use the showers, however they appeared very clean. The dump station is easy to navigate.
We would definitely stay here again. - rjohnso3a

Nice park for an overnight stay but I would not like it for an extended stay. We were told that they did not have full hook ups - water and electric only. I did not like the lay out of the park requiring an angled back in. Many of the seasonal sites seemed to be overly crowded. We did not stay to experience the recreational amenities of the park. The owner's were enthusiastic, friendly and helpful. - Dewey Smith
