Definitely follow Campground instructions and not GPS. We stayed on Site 48 for an over night stay. Site is spacious, wide, and level. Water spigot next to site. Though Reserve America states water on most sites there are not water hookups just spigots located throughout the park. You can use a hose at the dump station to fill fresh water tank. Beautiful treed site and park is quiet. The Lake looks beautiful but we did not have time to enjoy it on this trip. Would come again. - CindyL

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Last main road before CG has a weight limit of 20 tons (no option to avoid it). Follow campground directions as GPS tries to take you through back roads that are narrow with lots of turns. Only electric hookups, no sewer or water but there is a dump station. Many of the sites are sloped and hard to level for a big rig. Originally booked site 11 but is was sloped too much front to back and could not level without back wheels off the ground. Moved to site 51 and is probably the nicest for big rigs as it is nearly level and wide with easy back in at an angle. Road from office to sites is long and narrow with a steep hill and there is no where to pull off if another rig is coming through in the opposite direction. Could not get Direct TV satellite due to tree coverage but AT&T cell service was decent. Lots of trails for hiking, nice lake for fishing and boat rentals, swimming pool was closed for the season. - Big Rig Travelers

Very nice state park campground. We visit several times a year. Limited sites for MH with a dog. Great boat launch area, we used for our kayaks. - Vrrmm Rydr

This campground is in the middle of nowhere. Sites are mostly taken up by seasonal weekenders. The road is steep and gravel. There is one toilet half way down the campground. The only showers were up at the check in. Walked up the hill to them, carrying our stuff only to find there was no water. They were darkly lit and unappealing. There is another campground 2 miles away that is not listed on this site that has to be better than this. Highway robbery for the prices amenities. - PF Churchill

Stayed during Memorial Day weekend which was very busy. Overall the park is very rustic but the bathrooms and showers are clean. The pool seemed clean. There's a large playground with basketball hoop, swings & sea-saw for kids. The staff was very nice, readily available and helped as needed. The staff was very easy-going and accommodating to last-minute requests and upgrading.
The site is a mixture of overnighters and people who stay with their RVs for the season. With all the campsites full on the holiday weekend, it was very tight. Power and water are available at many of the sites, and others are primitive.
I think this would be a very nice campsite on a quieter weekend. The game room was older with a pool table, air hockey & pin ball machine. It is not a campsite with Wi-Fi and all the amenities. Don't expect hours of entertainment in the game room. It's the kind of campsite that you would relax by the fire, perhaps read, nap on a blanket in the field, play frisbee & enjoy nature. - CamperKim

Directions to the campground were confusing, making it hard to find. It is quite a distance from grocery stores and gas stations. When I telephoned for assistance I got a recording. The facilities were minimal, the on-site staff was hard to find, the office was unattended and there was no answer at the posted telephone number, some of the interior roads were very steep, sites were heavily wooded. Our site a pull-thru horseshoe and not quite level. I would say that it was barely satisfactory for a short stay. - tweymouth

I would like to give this park a zero but the water pressure was acceptable, hence we give them a 1. Park was filthy, silt from a creek overflow was everywhere. You were either in dust or mud. a calcium and/or gravel spread would have helped. Our motorhome just barely fit the pull thru site with nowhere to park the car except in the mud. A tree branch blocked the satellite view. When I asked to move the owner replied, "that's why we have cable", she did offer to move us to a site that was not a pull thru, when there were 5 pull thru sites to our left that remained empty. The park is over run with rules, regulations and fines. We traveled from Florida to visit our family of five and if they wanted to visit for a couple of hours it would have cost an additional $40.00 per visit and the owner would not budge on this issue. If you moved the fire ring they would fine you $100.00 and if you brought your own fire wood It was a $100.00 fine. WI-FI was advertised available but we found it to be only in one location. We reserved for ½ month stayed two days and did receive a partial refund. I honestly could not find any redeeming qualities about this park or staff or ownership. My advice, if you want to enjoy your camping experience don't stay here! - Jim Eason

Warm welcome from the owner and her staff. Clean laundry with new machines. Good arcade for the kids. Nice, level sites with easy back in or pull thru. Convenient to US 6. Beautiful setting by the Tunkhannock creek. We will definitely be back. - Tom Keenan

Was very nice and the service was great. The first campground I ever stayed at with delivery. Just call the office and tell them what you need and they bring it to your site. - Bill Felix

We stayed here the last week of August and again early October in a 30' travel trailer. The ranger was very friendly and helpful, and the campground was very nice. We stayed in Sites 46 and 28, at 50-amp sites The drive in was easy. Site 46 was not level but served its purpose as a one-night stop. Site 28 was level and easy to back into. We had good cell phone signal (Verizon 4G 4 bars) at the campsite. We received several channels of OTA TV, but none of the primes (ABC, NBC, CBS). There was no WIFI in the campground. The restrooms and showers are showing their age but were clean and acceptable. There were several trails for hiking, but we were not there long enough to check them out. Since both stays were a one-night stops, we did not take the time to check out any of the local sites. - Capt Gerry
Jul 2019 - $25.00
Eh, It's OK, that's all. If you are a hiker don't waist your time here. Not enough trails and the ones they have are overgrown and just plain suck. Campgrounds are OK and average. No wildlife here. No beach, no lake swimming. They do have a pool but its away from the camping area and gets really crowded by day users. We went down but it was so crowded it was actually gross, so we didn't go in as I will not allow my children swim in conditions like that. We will not return. - GDM

It was a nightmare getting to this park. The gas took us off exit 199 on I-81 and so does the parks own reservation site, but THE ROAD HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR NEARLY A YEAR. We had to back up about a quarter mile to get back onto I-81 because there was no place to turn around. I had called the local office and was told to check I. At the big brown building, but our rig, which they were told was 40' couldn't make the circle by the offices, requiring another backing up and another phone call. We were told that was the correct building but there was another checkin at the campground. I was told with the senior discount it would be $25.50' but when we got there I was charged a$31 after the discount. We checked in on a Thursday afternoon but the ranger charged us for Friday rates because we were leaving on Friday...then said it was a computer glitch and finally agreed with me. She then said it would be $23 and she would bring the refund to our site. A different ranger came with a receipt showing $27 and stood there arguing with me because the lady had made another mistake and asked to see if I "really" had been charged $31....he wouldn't take my word for it. The woman at the gate told me that based on the price of our rig that $31 should seem cheap to us. Anyways, we got to the site and it was nice, but our experience had already been ruined. - Ginny H

Big Rig Friendly. This is a trailer park that the owner is adding RV sites. Our site was gravel, spacious and level. The owner was very accommodating. Currently this is a no frill park. Safe and secure, just what we need. Streets are wide. Full time residents are friendly. - Lama79

Nice folks, good place for an overnight..a bit costly for the amenities, but I guess decent for Northeast. Overall a pretty good place..shower areas seemed quite serviceable. Had a bit of an issue with the WiFi, but they were nice enough to come out and try to help. Site not super level, and the power hookup was almost too high for me to reach..but ok for an overnight stay...will probably be back. - NFRS
May 2019 - $43.00
Site 9 not near level, driver side rear tire off the ground, sewer hookup not convenient and TOO HIGH up, very expensive for 30 amp and lousy site. Roads in park were at one time paved, little left of pavement. I won't stay here again. - travelingjerry
Oct 2018 - $53.00
Site 12, pull thru. 50 amp Box was bad with bad neutral. Maintenance person came by and said my surge guard was bad, hooked surge guard to site 11 and showed him it was working. I was allowed to hook up to site 11. Site 12 was not level, stayed just overnight, roads were tight with trees overhang branches, mostly wooded, many full time residents, very pleasant lady who checked us in, electrician knew very little about electricity. Site pictures are somewhat deceiving, not what you see at the actual sites. Don't stay here if you have a Class A motorcoach. We won't be staying here again. - Kilde

Wish we were staying a few days and the weather was warmer. Pretty location and the lake looked very inviting. A little difficult getting to as it it quite far off the beaten path. Call the office and get directions. There are bridges your GPS will tell you to use that are no longer there!!!!! I am not positive of the site number as we were taken directly to site and I did not receive a map of the place to look over. We were a one night stay only. - Popeye1
Aug 2019 - $53.00
No fault of the campground but, getting through Scranton in a driving rainstorm with road construction and negotiating the detour to the campground was an adventure. Once again a gated campground which we like. Very nice and easy pull thru. Utilities were good and room for a good satellite signal. Some full timers but, most were well kept and friendly. The area is well kept and clean. We ere only here for a couple nights to visit Steamtown but, would definitly stay again. - Larry Jenkins
Oct 2018 - $47.00
We were met by the owner as we pulled in to register. Very friendly and accommodating. The site was great as we were requiring a pull-through large enough to accommodate our 35' travel trailer without disconnecting. The TV wasn't the greatest, but everything else was good. The view of the lake and the surrounding area was fantastic. Nice place to stay for a couple of days. - Lemon Drop

We stopped here for one night as we were trying to make time across Pennsylvania. Passport America rate available so that was the saving grace. This is a tired campground. Upon arrival, there is a tipped over dumpster with trash strewn around. Sites and roads are gravel. Our site was not level and barely long enough to accommodate our rig (32'). Our tow vehicle is parked in the site next to us. Lots of tired seasonal units here. Good AT&T cell coverage, 10 or so channels over-the-air. No WiFi. No privacy from other campers. Brand new composite picnic table. The person who checked us in was friendly but not too knowledgeable about the campground or our site. - MangoandJune

After Labor day the camping sites you are put in is classified as " off season " campground. Their are NO moderns restrooms facilities at this location, no showers, only a vault type toilet, that is unheated and not maintained in a clean status. We stayed in a TT on 9/13/2019. - Cdr Bob

Reserve your site online and avoid having to stop at the office. (They will charge you a $6.50 service charge even if you register and pay at the office). Limited parking for big rigs at office. Campground entrance is temporarily 600' beyond regular entrance while new visitor center is being constructed. The 6+ mile drive off I-80 is a bit of a "whiteknuckler". Do not attempt at night. Lots of hiking (43+miles of trails), 10 miles to bike trailhead in White Haven. Some sites surround 2 huge open areas of grass (my preference). Wooded sites available too, as this is a huge park. - Todd Fogelberg
May 2019 - $44.00
The campground is about 2 mi past the park office on the right - I stayed in site 12, which is a huge pull-through next to the bathhouse, which is clean and new. While it rained most of my trip, it'd be a sunny, busy site in the summertime, and I'd recommend one further from the baths. The tiny red gravel sand they use gets everywhere... and many sites are very close. Very good Verizon reception here. Also many birds. - minapie
