This place is run by people who speak little or no English and there are piles of junk cars everywhere ...major electrical issues on every site and sewerage problems on every site ...also has a run down shower house and very poor maintained property ...do not stay here very unsafe. - Michael71
Apr 2008 - $15.00
This park is acceptable for an overnight stay. There are piles of construction debris scattered here and there throughout the park. The 30 amp wiring is poorly wired at some sites. The advertised "new" shower house appears unfinished and has a hole where a doorknob or latch should be and a toilet sitting on the porch. The pull through sites are fairly level, the road noise is high and ambiance is nil. The owner accepts the Passport America discount. I would never pay the $30 full charge to stay here. - RV Vagabond

I stayed at this campground on June 29, 2018. It was a nice place to camp. We caught fish on the pier one night. Kayaking up to the creek was the best. Bath house was clean and recently updated. Campsite was level and grass. My family will be back! - Fishingtyler
Jun 2018 - $35.00
Told me on phone that she has a lake front site. When we drove 1 1/2 miles down a washed out muddy road; we could not believe what we saw. Very run down, old permanent trailers. Duck poop everywhere you walk. Don't waste your fuel to get there, not to mention the muddy road. - xflyhighx

Elliott's Landing is a small private campground with 48 site most were 50 amp service all with water and sewage. They are located on Lake Marion near Rimini SC part of the Santee Cooper Lakes System. It was established in 1945 when the Santee Cooper Lakes were flooded making it the oldest campground on the lakes. The sites are all full hook ups with plenty of space for my 33 foot fifth wheel and tow vehicle. The road into the campground is about 1 mile of gravel road with potential of plenty of dust and or a little messy if there is a heavy rain. The sites are level grassy pads with a sandy base some shady sites with most being limited shade. The roads in the campground are easy to maneuver for a big rig. The sites on the lake are pull in and back out the other sites are all pull thru. They have a 300 foot fishing dock, a boat launch, a general store and two bath houses. I watched my brother catching some large shell crackers and catfish off the bank at his camp site. During the spring and summer it is reported that the dock is a fishing hot spot with plenty of action. The Verizon Wireless reception was good with a solid 4G connection. Over the air TV reception was good I was able to pick up all the major networks and more. I stayed at Elliott's Landing March 2017 for several weeks. I found it to be a great place to stay. A lot of the sites were long term residents but only a few of them actually stayed in the campground the others showed up with their boats for the weekends to enjoy some fishing and relaxing time. The area is a little remote with the nearest shopping area a 20 mile drive to Manning. - Andy52

Park is excellent in view, space and cleanliness. Park would be rated much higher if park had sewer and internet to each site. The sites each had fire rings. The staff is very polite. Sites are clearly marked. We were here a week and not having a sewer is not nice to have to move each time to dump your tanks. - Clifton Hucks
Dec 2018 - $20.00
Stayed in the Lakeshore Campground section which is older, non paved, and more reasonably priced than the Cypress View section. Road and sites were all sand, road very pitted in many spots, could be bad news during a rainy spell (in which case I would pay more to stay in the other section). Dump station oddly placed near back half of campground. Still, the campground is very convenient to I-95 for those passing through and the lake (Lake Marian) provides a beautiful setting. Most sites are fairly spacious, especially the handful of pull-through sites available, and most are well shaded. Verizon signal ok; over-the-air TV good. - aowcarol
Jul 2018 - $22.00
We have stayed here a couple of times in the past, but this is our first time since hurricane Matthew. We stayed on the Cypress Loop, the smaller of the two campgrounds. Since our last visit the roads have been paved and the sites have been leveled with crushed stone. The sites were all 50 amp. There are a lot fewer trees thanks to the storms. I guess they chipped up the downed trees and placed the chips on the sites for fill, which they don't want you parking on. The sites are adequately spaced so you are not up under someone else. The camp host stopped by as we were setting up and introduced himself. Did not have any interaction with park staff except at check-in, which was easy. The place fills on the weekend and a lot of campers bring boats. We enjoyed our stay and will return at some point. - dtaylor

Park right off i95 easy on/off. Great restaurant on grounds with reasonable prices. Didn't use amenities but pool, lake and even a mini golf looked good. Friendly people. We had a large pull through site. Only thing road bumpy and a lot of sand everywhere. We would definitely stay here again. Some areas had a lot of trees some not so much. - Jan Gemeinhardt
Jul 2018 - $45.00
We had a reservation at another campground which was the worst experience we ever had so we left after a night. I called Palmetto Shores and they were full but had a site open up across the street behind the gas station. The site was large, we were able to park 2 cars and a pontoon boat. We had full access to the resort but had to drive across the road to enter the main gate. There were no bathrooms, showers etc at our location. We also had a fishing boat which we left in over flow parking on the resort. The boat ramp was great, the resort itself had 2 nice pools, a lazy river, a nice sandy beach on Lake Marion, a small store, ice cream and pizza, mini golf and a restaurant. All in all it saved our vacation. We were able to launch the pontoon boat any time we wanted, swim, fish, etc. I would definitely recommend this park. The staff was extremely helpful considering our situation. We had a full hook up 50 amp site. The WIFI was excellent. My only complaint was it was a sandy site with lots of ants. There was some noise from RT 95 but not noticeable at night. - Tfrout
May 2018 - $40.00
Stayed 2 nights on way north from Florida. Property right on Lake Marion, but close to I-95 bridge so there is noise. Sites are close, sandy. Staff not very friendly. Lots of rules. Nice pool area with lazy river sandy 'beach' area. Friends staying at campground adjacent and said this place is better than where they are staying and less expensive. - cincychic

Dec 2018 - $52.00
Used this campground for an over night stay only. I arrived after dark and my check in package was on the door. Only real complaint was that the water pressure was very low. I had to use my water tank and water pump to take a shower. They had power problems for several hours prior to my arrival (not their fault, outside the park issue), so this may have affected their water also. - JFB1
Dec 2018 - $60.00
Beautiful shades sites, pet friendly, will definitely stay here again. - Jan2018
May 2018 - $59.00
Very old campground in the process of renovation. Power and water pressure were adequate and sites fairly level. Interior roads mostly dirt. Staff was nice, but freely admitted that they were not up to KOA standards - yet. At $59 the value is definitely not there. Don't plan on staying here again anytime soon. - AJ Adams

Poinsett State Park is a nice little park if all you want to do is hang near the campsite and relax, because there is not much going on around or near the area. It has a nice little "lake" (more like a large pond) for swimming and fishing, but it's a bit small to really spend a lot of time exploring in a boat or kayak. There are several miles of hiking & biking trails. The park itself is very clean and the spaces are fairly large. The downside is that there are only a few gravel sites... the rest are sand and dirt only. Also, the roads into the campground are a bit rough and narrow. - FlowerChild7275
May 2018 - $20.00
We really love Poinsett State park. We enjoy the campground, the hiking trails and the Lake. We do a lot of kayaking and fishing when we are here. They even have some family activities on the Long Holiday weekends. My only issues are the roads and lack of items at the Ranger office.
ROADS: they are bad. Lots of potholes and very narrow roads.
RANGER OFFICE: Wish they had a couple of small items for sale. (Ketchup, mustard, syrup, etc...) We forgot something and the drive to the nearest store is about 10 miles away. Also, the don't have ice for sale, so the same thing, if you need ice, 10 mile drive. Besides these two things, we love this place and will be back. - Stephen Howard
May 2017 - $20.00
Ok Camping Friends, We had a great time this weekend at Poinsett State Park. Here is a quick review. The campground was nice, but some of the sites were tight to get into. The lake had a nice swimming area with a lot of area to fish. There is kayak, paddleboard and canoe rentals for only $5 per hour. There are a lot of trails that are well marked. Some very nice mountain biking trails also. There is a beautiful spillway water fall for some awesome photos. Also, if you like geocaching, there are about 12 of them in the park. There is also a Food Lion and dollar General about 15 mins away in Wedgefield. Only dislike is that they don't sell ice at the ranger office, so if you need any, you have to drive 10 mins to the closest gas station. - Stephen Howard

This park for us was very nice. They are in the process of removing many of the permanent campers and provided more available site. They have full hook-up with 50 Amps. WiFi was great. We also enjoyed the pool which was very clean. We used the picnic area and the charcoal grill need to be cleaned but they worked great. We enjoyed canoeing in the cove and fishing from the dock. If you are a 'everything has to be prefect' camper, then I would not go here. If you want to enjoy all of the thing that have to do with camping (fishing, boating, swimming, relaxing), then this is a nice place to go. They are still working on updating and improving the bathrooms and some of the sites. Everything worked great for us! They do not have fire rings or picnic table at the sites. - Stephen Howard
Sep 2014 - $28.00
We tried to get into the State Park but it was full. We decided to try this park that did not have any RV Park Reviews. It was adequate but just. It is almost completely taken up with full time and seasonal occupants, most with old trailers. It was somewhat noisy and the sites are not well kept. The campground roads, the ones to the sites, were dirt and extremely rutted. The main attraction to this campground is most likely the access to the lake but nothing here I would call a resort, as its name applies. We were in a 50 amp/water site that was out in the open; all the sites are grass, where it isn't dirt. The website lists a pool, but I never could find it. The park is close to the town of Santee and just over the bridge from the Wildlife Preserve and just about 5 miles from the State Park. - HRambler

Stayed overnight. Sites aren't numbered and not many have 50amp. Sites are very unlevel. Close to I-26 and easy in and out. Only worthy of an overnight stay. - Bilsalrv
Oct 2018 - $39.00
We gave this park a 10 based on serenity. We are in our 70's and not looking for pools or activities. A nice walk is great. The owner is very nice and anxious to please. The sites are not level. We carry boards because a lot of places aren't level. 4 sites with sewer. The area is kept clean and manicured. There is a communal fire at night, if you choose to go. The lake.....it is pristine with fish jumping and birds singing. A little piece of paradise. We loved it and will go back for a longer stay. - Skipp
Sep 2018 - $30.00
Nice for one overnight. Easy off/on from I-26. We could not get level no matter what we did, we backed in, drove in, and finally ended up parallel to the road. We were still not level, but gave up, it was only one night. You pull in, pick a spot and pay via the honor system. No sewer at site, but dump station near laundry/restrooms. All sites have a lake view, owner on site, seemed vigilant at keeping out non-campers. - TBWard

The bad side: The campground is very run down. The office is generally locked, and nobody answers the phone. The swimming pool has not been cleaned or used in a long time. A sign at the office tells rates and provides envelopes and a slot to mark your site and leave your money. There are potholes in the roads, but they are not too bad. Check the electricity before you park and hook up--some sites don't work. The good side: The sites are level and grassy, and the grass was recently mowed in most areas. There were lots of open sites with easy pull-through access. Sites closest to the adjacent motels may be able to pick up wireless Internet (I did). Interstate access, an RV store, a truck stop, various restaurants, and a Super WalMart are all nearby. This is not a family campground, but for a couple who don't need a lot of campground services, it's fine, and the price is low. - Charlie500
May 2008 - $20.00
Place is run down and uncared for. The laundry room looked to be good. No one around the place and no phone number to contact. Which is OK with us. However. It's easy to get in and out. We were in a motorhome with toad and had no problem with the pull through. Quiet place, within walking distance of a few restaurants and we had a good meal. The place has a few full timers in the back and the area was neat. The place needs lots of work, but it's a great stop off point and the utilities worked well. Verizon Air card works well in the area for high speed internet. Good satellite reception from our site even with the shade trees. This was probably once a very nice place and it's a shame to see it as it is. We will stay there again for a few days to break up the north south trips. A better sign at the office with "pick a site" would be nice. - Osmosis
Jan 2008 - $19.00
The most mis-named campground I’ve ever seen, Camper’s Paradise is a former KOA, but the only way you can tell is by the shape of the outside of the building. Inside, the office floor is bare concrete and was partially under water when I was there. At least one large dog and three cats roamed around the dimly lit structure as I checked in, and the whole place ABSOLUTELY REEKED of cat urine. Water, power, and sewer was serviceable, and the grass pull-through sites were relatively level, but the grounds are dismal and poorly maintained. There are huge potholes everywhere in the park. The pool appears to have been abandoned for at least one full season, possibly more, as has the playground. Campground choices are exceptionally limited in central South Carolina. Although we love Manning, we will re-route our next trip to avoid staying at this campground again. - North Carolina Nomads
