Clean small reasonable laundry. Near roadways so noise from that. The main issue we had is that the woman in charge is not customer focused. We requested a shady spot 4 months in advance. The campground was not full and shady spots near us were open the entire time we were there. We inquired nicely about moving to one of these shady spots but were denied. It’s an ok park, but nothing special. We won’t stay here again. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Campground was hard to get in and out of due to heavy traffic in front of campground. Too many speed bumps going to campsite. WiFi was awful, had good signal but was really slow. Had cable tv which worked great. Was close to Charleston. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Patriots point was awesome. Boone Hall plantation nice and good price/deal, the other plantations were pricey. Lots to see-museums and shopping in Charleston, all in walking distance. Palmetto carriage tour was enjoyable. Ghost tour fun. All business folks were friendly and accommodating. There was plenty of Starbucks in the area as well so I never went without my coffee.

Stay here a week every year. Nice park like campground convenient to Charleston. Campground is spread out over a large area with attractive trees and grass throughout. If you need satellite access be sure to request when making reservation as most sites access is blocked by large trees. Roads are paved and sites are level. gravel/grass. Pull though sites are long and relatively spacious. WiFi was very spotty during out stay. Two things I hate about this campground is the many speed bumps (up to 12 depending on your site) and difficulty/danger in exiting the park going north on Hwy-17 towards Charleston due to heavy traffic most of the day. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We only stayed one night on our way south. The good: Convenient overnight stop if you are going the coastal route through South Carolina. Staff were very friendly. The bad: This campground is right on busy route 17 - no way you could take a left even in a towed car. It is also noisy because of its proximity to the highway. Our site was not quite level because of a drop off at the end. We also noticed a paper mill smell when we arrived, though that dissipated later in the day. Our bottom line: Good for a one-night stop but that's about it. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Huge CG that is flat. Pull throughs are more in the open while back ins have huge trees. Ground crew does a great job. Only 4 washers and 2 dryers for this huge park. If park is full, sites would be fairly close but OK. Would stay here again. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Close to Charleston. Good seafood reasonably priced at Gilligan's. Charleston Tea Plantation is a must see. It is the only commercial farm and production facility in North America. Learned a lot and enjoyed the tea! Magnolia Plantation is close but at $52/person for full tour, we deemed it a must miss. Don't miss Fire Fly Distillery and Deep Water Vineyards. They sit side by side and have knowledgeable and gracious folks.

Traveling full-time in a 38-foot coach we stayed 7-nights in a site for big rigs (site #NN1 - Pd $57.71 night) This was our first visit here. We've stayed in over 400 RV Parks and as far as WIFI goes, this RV park places in the Top Ten! We give this park 5-Stars for the fantastic WIFI! Our AT&T phones worked great here too. This park is a small well-maintained family owned park. The owners are very friendly and fantastic hosts. Big coaches need a gravel pad, so we also give this RV Park a 5-star rating for the thick gravel pad. Some RV Parks also have very narrow roads which make backing up very difficult, we found this park to have plenty of room to maneuver our coach. Some RV Parks are so dusty that one has to clean their coach after a stay, but not here, the dust on our coach was very minimal compared to many other parks. Our satellite did receive reception. Plenty of room to walk your dog here. This is a nice place to stay and we recommend it! We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park is very clean and well maintained. The price reflects the monthly rate of $925. We stayed here for one month over the holiday month of December. There is a nice dog run and a small kids play area with a swing set and large chess board. There is also a pool that is not heated so we did not test it out. The utilities were great. We did not loose power during storms and the water pressure was great. The laundry room was not great. 4 washing machines and only 2 dryers with no area to fold your cloths or even transfer them. There is a sign in the laundry room that if the machine turns off you can remove the cloths. If you do not pay to stay nightly which is pricey they put you in a dirt spot instead of a paved area. Since the park was empty while we were there and we asked for a paved spot I found this to be a turn off, especially considering it rained quite a bit while we were there and we had a mud pit when we walked outside of our rv. Another negative which is not the parks fault, the road behind the park is VERY noisy with cars and trucks honking, revving their engines at night to race and motorcycles. We had to keep our AC fan on high to try to drown out the noise. There are trains but they are in the distance and did not bother us at night. Last negative is the entrance/exit. If you want to take a left turn out of the park you will wait awhile for a break in traffic. Thankfully when we were leaving with our rv we took a right. However when we drove our car for the month there were multiple times we went further up the road and u-turned to be safe. This park with traffic is about 30 minutes from historic downtown Charleston. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Gilligans Seafood Restaurant, the Glass onion and Swig or Swine on Highway 17 are definitely worth the visit. One broadstreet restaurant has an amazing brunch!! There is a beautiful very old tree called Angel Oak near the rv park. It is worth the time to visit. Lastly, USS yorktown is a must. We ended up spending 4 hours there touring the aircraft carrier and did not see everything.

Overall Rating:

Overall this is a super nice park. The sites are nice and wide (we loved our end pull through!) and the interior roadways easy to navigate. They have a nice pool and the fenced dog park is an entire acre. They offer a playground and a disc golf course. The park is super shady with several live oaks and Spanish moss - just what you would expect in the Charleston area and wonderful for strolls. The general location is perfect for visiting all the tourist attractions in the area. The down side of the park is the specific location on Highway 17/Savannah Highway. The road is incredibly busy making it difficult to turn left or right - whether in your rig or in your tow! Be aware of that when reserving a site here. We would choose to stay again, as for us, the amenities outweigh the busy intersection. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The park setting is gorgeous, with old oak trees dripping with moss. The office staff were fantastic. The park looks very spacious and it was easy to get in and out of. Our site was a pull through and was very spacious. Even with our Good Sam discount, the park was very expensive for what they have to offer. Although they have free wifi, we were never able to get anything to download. We got a terrible infestation of ants while we were there and spent days trying to get rid of them. The park is very close to Charleston, and it was easy to do lots of sightseeing from there. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

I gave this park an 8, but could be a 7.8 It has 221 spots, and some are on grass and some are on gravel. The roads between are asphalt, and there is some grass between sites. The sites are pretty close together, but not too close. The area we were in had very few trees. We were in site 6 in row OO. This park was built in 1963 so the roads are a little tight, because RV's have gotten way bigger since then. The wifi was in and out. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

A very nice park about 20 minutes from downtown Charleston. The largest dog run we’ve encountered. Site was level and with ample length. Close to other RV but luckly we only had one neighbor during our stay. Staff was friendly with the exception of Melissa. We wouldn’t rule this place out if ever in the Charleston area again but would look elsewhere first. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We are full-timers and enjoyed our four night stay here. We were in site H1 which is an end site, has plenty of grass and is spacious. It is also closer to the front of the park so we didn't have to go over as many speed bumps as those in the back. But, we didn't think the speed bumps were any worse or bigger than other places we have stayed and they were probably put there because people were going too fast. Our site was open but there were trees that provided some relief from the afternoon sun to our west. Most sites here face north which is great. We were also close to the dog park which is one of the best we've seen in an RV park. It's large, the grass is green and there is some shade. Overall this is a great place to bring dogs. There are trash cans at the end of each row and within an easy walk from any site. Recycle cans close to the front. Wifi worked well during our stay as well as the cable. Some sites more satellite friendly than others. Strong Verizon signal. It's really no big deal to make a right and go to Charleston that way and they tell you how to do it when you check-in. All hook-ups worked fine. We did not use any of the facilities other than the dog park so cannot comment on them. We would stay here again. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

It's a short drive to the Angel Oak Tree and it's free and beautiful. If you like barbecue you gotta go to Swig and Swine just down Hwy 17. Some of the best we've had anywhere in the country! Tomato Shed Cafe also excellent. So many great restaurants around here it's hard to choose.

We stayed in this beautiful park for two nights. Very helpful staff. Found us a sat friendly site even though they have excellent cable tv. WiFi is also excellent. The facilities are squeaky clean and of ample number but they are not ADA compliant. There is not a toilet with a bar or of the ADA height. Publix grocery is close as are several fast food restaurants. The problem is that the highway has no pedestrian crossing and is dangerous to cross. Overall Rating:

This is our second time to stay here. Overall the campground is nice and, except for the brutal sun (no trees around our site), we enjoyed our stay. The utilities were well-placed and all worked well. Our site was level and wide enough for our coach but not overly wide though we didn't feel too close to our neighbors. The interior roads were easy to navigate our 45' DP. The campground has numerous trash bins throughout the park and they have recycling bins near the entrance. Others have complained about the speed bumps. They are clearly a nuisance but we managed. Others have also complained about not being able to turn left safely onto Hwy 17. This is a real problem but I don't think the campground owners can do anything about it. Just always turn right! The staff was generally nice except for the young man who checked us in. He was downright rude and I told him so. I only saw him once during the week we were there so he probably only works weekends. He was really the only negative during our stay. We might stay here again but there are other campgrounds we prefer. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.
