Really, a decent place to spend a night. Mostly long term residents. 10 sites reserved for transients. Called ahead to make reservations but could never get anyone to answer the phone. Left messages. Did get a call back. Had a reservation for site 35. Then day of I called to confirm and they said I had no reservation but come anyway. We did. Enjoyed the lot, view and quiet/peacefulness of the Campground. From the signs around I gather insects are a major concern in heat of summer. You have to want to come here to get here. It is really off the beaten path. 30-40 miles (?) off I 26 or I 95. It made a nice layover after coming out of north Alabama, headed to Charleston. My biggest issue was I could find nothing which indicated what the rates were. Nothing posted around office (which is closed Monday and Tuesdays.) I asked where I could and no one seemed to know, so I paid what I thought I had been quoted when I made initial reservation, of which I did not get a confirmation. We camped at Rocks Pond Campground & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

This is mainly a permanent residence park. There are good sites on the 1st two rows of the lake with views. There were lots of people on golf cars and kids out late at night. People wandering through our campsite too. Site was grass and pretty level. We camped at Rocks Pond Campground & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is only one small town about 7 miles away with a small grocery so bring all your food needs with you. This is a destination far from I-95. There is an uncooled building that is available for groups to use. They have music on Sat night sometimes in the summer.

Lots of residents have boats and many of the transient travelers bring boats. We did see some people had caught fish.

The road is terrible, tons of potholes that are unavoidable on a narrow road. Travel slowly.

Overall Rating:

This place has really gone downhill in the past three years. We were there for four days/three nights and the restrooms were NEVER serviced during our entire stay...when we politely suggested to the day-shift clerk at the campground store that the bathrooms needed paper and a wipe down, we were promptly told, "That ain't my job!". Lakefront views are amazing and pull throughs were convenient. Amenities included kid-friendly playground, community center, laundry, somewhat over-priced convenience store and boat launches. Some of the best fishing in South Carolina. We camped at Rocks Pond Campground & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed as Passport America members. This is a very rural camp that is used mainly by people fishing in Lake Marion. Very nice sites overlooking the lake. Yes, there was a fish smell at the end of the day when everyone was cleaning their catches. One should be aware of that when coming here. Since it was off season, most went home on Sunday and we were almost by ourselves for the rest of the week. Lots of interesting history nearby. Very quiet - would stay again if in the area. We camped at Rocks Pond Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Once we finally arrived at the campground it wasn't really what we were hoping for in terms of view of Lake Marion. We had a nice view of the lake but the water level was so extremely low due to the nations draught. When we checked in at the office there was a repulsive odor inside the office/store/bait& tackle shop, as if the garbage somewhere hadn't been taken care of in a very long time. It was very windy and because of the vast openness of the lake it just seemed to blow right through us and there wasn't any "protection" from that Lake affect wind. Once we hooked up and settled in we noticed 2 dumpsters on either side of our site. There were clearly many permanent residents. It looked more like a mobile home park which may not even be part of this "campground" but close enough to make this mistake. The bathrooms were disgusting and the flushing of the toilet was nauseating because it appeared to be "reclaimed' sewer water. YUCK! We camped at Rocks Pond Campground & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

We just returned from four nights at Rocks Pond Campground. We had a great time. The sites are large and pull-thru. The utility connections were conveniently located and in good working condition. We camped with three other families with campers. The campground has a beach, gazebos, fishing area, recreation hall, and putt-putt course. We had several boats and wave runners, so we spent a lot of time out in the lake. The campground is clean. We did not use the bath house facilities as we have our own in the camper. The entertainment was fun and the DJ tried to get the crown involved. The playgrounds could use some updating and I would like to have some activities planned for the numerous children that camp with their families. A pool would be a huge asset for the kids. If you don't have a golf cart or a boat to go out on the lake, you will run out of stuff to do fairly quickly. My only complaint is the camp store hours. It closed most days before 5pm. Most campers came in from the lake to prepare dinner and realized that they needed ice, ketchup, camp supplies, sunscreen, ect... after the store had closed. The closest town is 10 miles away and that is a long way to go for ice. The owners need to extend the camp store hours at least until 7pm to accommodate late arrivals and campers that are fishing, swimming or enjoying the lake until late afternoon. We camped at Rocks Pond Campground & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

We were looking for a place to spend the night on the way to Florida and found this campground through a web search. We pulled in after 6pm when the office closes. We were told just to pick a site and settle up in the morning. We selected a site overlooking Lake Marion. It was a pull through site, very wide, fantastic view. During the summer check their schedule because they have live entertainment in the pavalion on Satuday nights from 8pm to midnight. Free if you camp there. This is about 15 miles east of I95 but is worth the drive. Do not believe any routings given by Map Quest. They will take you down a one lane dirt road. Stay on Old Route Six until you see their sign and make a left on Rocks Pond Road. It is a little off the main drag but a very nice place with real friendly people. We camped at Rocks Pond Campground & Marina in a Travel Trailer.
