While we were here there were only a few campers so it was really quiet. We only stayed two nights and wished we could have stayed and enjoyed the lake recreation. It was hot and humid but the sunsets are awesome. Site are older with water and electrical and the asphalt is cracking and uneven on the road and some sites, but not real bad. Little tight navigating. We have a 30 foot fifth wheel. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Not much around, there is a BBQ and fuel station a couple miles away. The town of Seneca is approx 14 miles away with all the major big box stores. Nice drive.

Park is easy to get to off of Rt85, but there is nothing nearby, so the only reason to go here is if you own a boat or you want the back-to-nature camping experience. Fastest check-in process I've ever experienced! The internal roads can be pretty rough and are narrow, winding and hilly. All the sites are unique so choose by carefully inspecting the photos on the reservation website. Many sites are quite long, but the entry can be sloped up or down - usually you can find a level enough space to park once you are in the site. Lots of privacy with the trees and bushes between sites as well as the terracing. We enjoyed our stay for the peace and quiet (mid-week, almost no one there) but probably wouldn't return. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Motorhome.

J Peters Grill and Bar in Lavonia, GA (10 min drive) had a nice big bar for watching sports (NHL playoffs, in our case) and tasty cocktails.

What a delightful park! Waterfront or woodsy sites, some short & some long, some pull-thru, some back-in; but very level in the area of each where you'd park, all sites paved. In winter they only have Wiggins loop open, but that's okay. There are 3 rangers and they are constantly working to keep the place excellent. Yes the road needs repair but no problem to drive on. Spaces are well placed to see the woods or lake without looking right at neighbors. They have 2 cabins and plan to have several more. Tent platforms right on the water. Bathhouse is warm and clean. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Fee includes $2 transaction fee. Road and sites all paved, but old and in spots kind of rough. Some sites need a fair amount of leveling so be prepared. Big variance in size and spaciousness of sites so, if possible, scope them out before choosing. Most sites are beautifully shaded. Verizon signal good. If on a site that has decent elevation, you can pick up a few over-the-air TV signals. Restrooms dated but clean. Park is very handy to I-85 and they keep a portion of it open year-round. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice park but needs a little TLC. Picnic table had seen better days. A lot of dead branches in the trees and on the ground. No parking at the rest room/showers so it is a trek for some campers to walk to. Electric outlet was damaged but host was indifferent to the problem. Make sure you can reach the hookups before you start setup. Roads needed pot hole repairs. The roads are also pretty narrow. Sites were hard surface but needed leveling side to side and front to back. Camp sites were angles so not difficult to back into. Check the site length when making a reservation, some were a little small. Close to I-85 but no road noise. No patio surface. I don't plan to return here. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park has nice paved roads, level paved sites around a beautiful lake. The bath house was clean, although dated. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Our space was somewhat narrow and we could not put our awning all the way out. We were there during the week when most campers are working so it was extremely quiet. Town is a 15 to 20 minute drive either way. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Hartwell State Park is a great place to get away. Made reservations over the phone though probably didn't need to. Even with a big game at Clemson, the sites were not all taken when we left Saturday about 11am. Park entrance is about a mile from I-85. Staff was friendly and efficient. Check in took all of 2 minutes. Site was asphalt, very level, and plenty long enough. Water and electric close together. No sewer, but a dump station is provided. There is no Wi-Fi, unless you bring your own. Toilets and shower building was very clean. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Motorhome.

Well kept, back to nature, SC State Park. Easy access. About 1 mile off I-85 exit 1. There are over a hundred paved, wooded RV sites. Tents are permitted on rv sites too Fire rings and tables Well kept roomy sites with clean water/electric area. Room for slide outs. Spacious back-ins and several pull thrus. 3 loops. Two clean dump stations with easy access.

Easy to ride bicycles about the paved roads with a couple challanging hills if you choose. 2 dump stations. Lake fronts to boat and swim in. Good fishing too.

We parked our 30 ft RV + cargo trailer in the middle section and at night it was quieter than any place we have EVER stayed at. Yes we would stay here again. We like the fact that we can see an exact picture of the site before we chose, on the South Carolina State Parks online reservation section. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We chose this campground so we could ride our motorcycles in the Lake Hartwell area. We visited the Anderson Jocky Lot Flea Market, Hartwell Dam, down to Hartwell, GA. Next day to Wahalla, SC and up into the mountains from there to the Georgia line back down to the Campground.

Anyone with a boat ought to try Lake Hartwell. It is beautiful.

This is a sweet little park, usually very quiet (except for occasional jet skis), along the shores of Lake Hartwell. Not a ton of amenities here, but a great place to relax, with views of the lake through the forest from several sites. You can reserve specific sites in advance. For tent campers, the park has dedicated tent sites, separate from the RV areas and very close to the lake. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a older state park that needs a lot of work. Roads and driveways are very bumpy and the underbrush throughout the park needs cleaning out. Not a lot of room in and around the sites for activities. Few pull throughs, back-ins are situated for easy access though. Hardly any waterfront sites, the loop that is open all year, you can barely even see the lake.. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rate reflects Golden Age Passport discount and includes the online registration fee. This was our second visit to the park and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. The park is gorgeous with a wonderful lake for boating and fishing. It is a shame that the infrastructure of the park is falling into such disrepair. There is a total absence of people working there. The fire rings are not cleaned out, the picnic tables need repair and the asphalt roads and site pads appear to be falling apart. The roads are full of pot holes and are narrow, but that still cannot take away from the natural beauty that is there to be enjoyed. We had water and 30 amp electric at our site and both worked well and our site was fairly level. Most of the sites have very small activity areas. In some of them, the picnic table and fire ring take up all the space available and you would be hard pressed to get your camp chairs around the fire ring. I used the showers each day as they were OK with plenty of hot water but not necessarily very clean. The office is not open much and the staff is lethargic at best. We did use the laundry facility which was very reasonably priced. We were in site no. 50 which was in the most popular area because there is direct access to the water for fishing or playing in the water. Some campers tied their small boats up right at their campsite. Our site had a very large activity area and was very private but with no view of the water. (There was a trail that led to the water just 20 feet away). Sites 40 to 48 are right on the water. If we were returning we would possibly stay at site 6 which is very quiet, private and has a great view of the water. We also like 53 as it has a view of the water and a little trail to a private beach area. The tent areas are the most beautiful I have ever seen and we walked those trails almost daily as they had awesome views of the lake. We enjoyed a week and would return. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Close to interstate, but traffic not too loud. Good overnight stop or extended stay for woods, boating or fishing. Roads and sites asphalt. Our site was level. Very few pull throughs. Back ins deep and wide. Lots of available sites for our after hours arrival. Office closes at 5 pm. From rating of 10, -1 no toilet tissue in women's bathhouse, -1 lots of bugs in men's (must be opening somewhere), -1 dump site lid impossible to open without getting wet, -1 poorly marked, faded site numbers painted on asphalt. -1 poor checkout experience. Slow and irritating. Wish we found the after hours paperwork process to avoid meeting staff. Too much data collection using an awkward computer program with poor keyboarding skills by staff for a simple transaction. As we left staff was telling an active duty military that military discount applied to National Guard, only, and that was getting resolved. We will return, especially if we can schedule after hours arrival and payment. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Tent Trailer.
