Nightly rate reflects monthly charge. I liked this RV park. It's quiet, clean, & right on the Sampit River. Everyone there was very friendly & the owners are nice & accommodating. I really like that there's a coded gate entry. The gentleman at the front keeps a close eye on traffic & stops anyone who doesn't belong. A vehicle came in behind me once & he asked if they were guests of mine. I told him no & he stopped them to find out why they were there (to look at a camper for sale). Given that my husband works & it's just me & my dog all day, it's great to know that the park is secure. I also want to note that the sites are HUGE. There is plenty of space for slides & awnings. We had a truck, car, & boat parked at our site with lots of room leftover. It is very bare bones. There's no bathhouse, shower, or laundry. There's no cable & the WiFi signal isn't really strong enough to do more than check email. I was able to pull in plenty of OTA channels & I have data on my phone, so not a big deal to me. If they had a laundry, I would have given them a solid 10. There's a nice laundry about 10 miles away. Take care on the entry driveway as it does get washed out areas in rainy weather. Owner scrapes to smooth it back out, but several days of rain will rut it up again. Just drive slow & keep an eye out for the bad spots. Most everything you need is within 10-12 miles. Georgetown downtown is a pretty area to explore. There's a small variety of restaurants & several sight-seeing opportunities. If you can't find something to suit you there, Murrells Inlet is about 30-35 miles down the road with its huge selection of restaurants, & Myrtle Beach is a little further beyond. Downtown Georgetown about 10 miles, Myrtle Beach is 40-ish miles. We camped at Johnson's Marina & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

In September we stayed at The Johnson's Marina and Campground for the 3rd time. We stay in one of their park models or in our own motor home. The campground is conveniently located near the historic city of Georgetown, SC , which is known for its boardwalk, restaurants, museums and close proximity to gardens and beaches. The owners work from daylight to dark to keep the campground tidy and to make their visitors comfortable. The family is friendly and very helpful. I just booked a week in October 2017 which coincides with The Georgetown Boat Show. Looking forward to fishing and crabbing from their dock and visiting with friends and grandchildren in the village of McClellanville. We camped at Johnson's Marina & Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is the only campground anywhere near Georgetown, SC. On entering, the dirt road was rutted and washed out, very difficult to drive. We arrived after dark in the pouring rain but there was not one light on, not one sign for the office, bathrooms or showers. We called the phone and were told the owners were in town, not there, and we should walk around with a flashlight and find a site that was not flooded. As for signing in, they said they'd catch up to us in the morning. There was a terrible smell in the air and, the next day, we learned the campground is downwind of a huge paper mill. If there was a bathhouse/showers, we never found it. At the end of the campground road was the marina. The emphasis here is definitely on those who will put up with the campground in order to use the marina and fish. There are no amenities for campers, no tables, no shade. The hookups are so close to the ground that it is almost impossible to make sewer, electric or water connections. We chose our site well since the next morning all sites around us were flooded and the water had not yet reached our door. This place is very flat and on the Sampit River, prone to flooding and they claimed they'd just spent lots to have their road repaired from recent floods. In the morning, we called the owner again to try to pay her. The lady told us they were still not in the campground to help us check out and pay. She told us to put our $36 in cash in an envelope and put it in the mailbox. We tried to at least leave a check so we'd have some proof we'd paid but she wouldn't accept it. I still don't know if they accept credit cards as we never did find the office or the owner. We did as told but not before writing a note and taking a photo of it and the actual cash as proof that we did pay her. Locals told us this campground is not in a good part of Georgetown. Avoid this place entirely unless you are coming just for the fishing. We camped at Johnson's Marina & Campground in a Travel Trailer.
