Used this park as a home base to visit Charleston and it works great for that. Not a destination spot at all, the campground is the old Navy Housing trailer park. Spots are close together but very easy to back into. If your cheap like me the cost can't be beat but you could probably pay $70 a night and get closer to Charleston. I was looking for full hookup within driving distance to the sites, this is it. We camped at Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Pretty quiet and decent park with full hookups, but with some issues. During rain, some sites build up some deep water (2-3") levels. The play ground is caution-taped off. There is some old landscaping debris that hasn't been cleaned up in a long time. The restrooms/laundry are in a trailer. The laundry is in a small room with 3 washers/dryers (one dryer is not working). The campground borders Foster Creek where there is fishing - beware the alligators (they'll go after your lure/bobber). There are also about 20 miles of hiking/biking trails just outside the fence to the campground. We camped at Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

The camp Ground has nice deep sites that are well laid out and it's very quiet. It has two concrete "tracks" for the RV and large concrete patios with a picnic table and charcoal grill. The camp ground host is very friendly and efficient. We camped at Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

older park, but great value, and convenient to everything in the area. We stayed here for 4 months, and while it wasn't fancy, we felt safe. It's in need of repair (playground, roads, fire pit area) and I heard they were going to close for renovations, but no time frame was given. When we're back in the area, we'll stay again if we can. We camped at Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Nice older Navy FamCamp, but well maintained. It appears at one time it might have been the Navy base trailer park. Water pressure near 60 pounds and voltage around 118/119v. Interior roads are paved and in good condition. Restrooms are kind of unique. The restroom/shower/laundry building is a commercial trailer unit. There are 5 separate restrooms in the trailer. Each individual restroom is air condition, has its own door, toilet, sink and shower, very private. The laundry room is currently closed with a sign stating they are trying to order new commercial washers and dryers. Parking for your RV is on two long parallel cement pads. There is ample room to park even the largest pickup without being near the road. There is an cement patio. Lots of green grass that is mowed. Most sites have some sort of shade tree. According to the camp host the only site that can not get satellite reception is site 1. We had rain while here and our site did not flood. This FamCamp is located in Navy off base housing. With the campground located in base housing there are cement sidewalks everywhere. The base housing is well maintained and very clean. Security seems good. Security patrols the housing area night and day. The Commissary, NEX, MWR and ITT are all located within a mile of the campground. The only negative, not a fault of the campground, is the smell from the Kapstone Paper Mill. The mill is located a few miles south of here. At times smell from it is very strong. If you have ever been near a paper mill you know how nasty the smell can get. We camped at Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Great park easy access very clean and the Park Host Doc does a great job making you feel welcome. The Ladies at MWR really go all out to make sure you are happy with the total transaction. It would be nice if they had a Building with a kitchen so it could be used for rally's , and meetings. We camped at Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for three months. At 8:00am this morning, power was cut off. When asked at office when the power would be back on, response was, 3 days or so. Absolutely no notice given. We can't say enough good things about our camp host. He was as livid about the situation as we were. Guess this is the risk you run dealing with military mindset. On another occasion, we lost all wifi for several days. Found out later that someone in the office unplugged it and forgot to plug it back in. This is a good campground being ruined. We camped at Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

We have only been to a few military campgrounds but this one is the best we have seen by far. All sites are full hook-up, spacious and easy to get in and out of. Concrete strips to put your wheels on, and a large concrete patio with an aluminum picnic table. Really small bath house with individual rooms with a toilet and shower, but they were never crowded and always clean. Quite a few long term campers use this place. All that we met were very friendly. Very friendly campground host who is always very helpful with any issues or questions. No fire rings other than a community one in the center, so bring your own if you want a fire. We camped at Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

We made reservations approximately three months in advance-- requesting two things: a level site with satellite usage available. Upon arrival we discovered that the site we had been assigned would not allow for satellite dish use, but even more of a concern was the fact that trees lined one side of the site-- allowing the rv to park but not allowing slide-out deployment without scraping in the trees. The office staff then re-assigned us to another site-- with even less chance of satellite use. Discussions with the park manager only elicited the comment: "How would I know about the trees and lack of satellite in those sites-- nobody ever complained before".

Fortunately, the camp host was exceptionally helpful and assigned us to another site that allowed us to use the satellite dish.

Negatives:

--Two days of light to medium rain flooded many of the sites and standing water was still in place when we departed. Several long-term residents discussed with us the unabated problem of mosquitos during warm weather.

-- Our site had five (5) fire ant hills (we treated them on our own). Several long-term residents discussed with us the continuous problem of fire ants-- a potential life threatening problem to anyone with allergy problems.

-- Virtually zero understanding or information from office staff. This is either a training problem or individual attitudes. With either it reflects a management or leadership (or both) problem. Several long-term residents indicated that that is certainly nothing new.

-- Bottom line: Standing water, insect problems and lack of interest in customer support make this a famcamp NOT worth the fuel to drive to. We will NOT return. We camped at Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Stayed here 3 nights while touring Charleston.
Unisex showers & toilet in a trailer. Laundry also in the trailer. Each unit is small and in need of a cleaning. Trash not emptied, did not see any cleaning during our stay.
Grass in dire need of mowing.
Commissary, exchange, and service station on base.
Easy 30 minute drive into Charleston, a bit longer during rush hours.
MWR on base with discount tickets available. We camped at Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Take the drive into Charleston and head to Fort Sumter. Park at the Aquarium and just a short walk to the boat. Market Street has many shops selling local items.

We stayed here while visiting Charleston. The location was close, but still a good 25 minute drive to downtown Charleston. The park itself was great. Doc was quick to greet us as we pulled in and offered assistance for anything we needed. The location was very quiet, had plenty of area to walk dogs and very clean. The site was long enough to fit our 35 ft 5th wheel and 2500 truck with ease. The site also had a paved space next to the rv site for extra vehicles, the picnic table and grill. Power, water and wifi were great, no cable, but we picked up all the channels we needed with our antenna. There are A LOT of fire anthills around the park, so watch where you walk your pets and spray around your site if you have issues. The weather was cool and rainy most of our stay, so we had no issues with ants around our site. The park is outside of the Naval Weapons Station gate, so no ID required to enter, but you will need to show it to Doc upon arrival. The laundry was small, only two washers and three dryers, but the NEX does have a laundry facility with $1.00 per wash and $.75 for 30 minutes dry time. It would have been nice to be a little closer to downtown, but all in all a great location. We would return. We camped at Foster Creek RV Park & Villas (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.
