This is a large full-service campground in Mt. Pleasant, a bustling suburb of historic Charleston, SC. Mt. Pleasant is a mix of nicely done residences and a variety of shopping, restaurants, and services, and is a short drive to Charleston. The campground has everything from primitive tent sites to deluxe camping cabins. All the RV sites are gravel and not too small or too close. Even the the numerous pull-thru sites can be had as standard or premium sites (complete with concrete patio). Their cable TV service has numerous channels, and while their standard WiFi internet access is spotty as is usually the case for campgrounds, they have invested in their technology infrastructure with hard-wired ethernet ports at most CATV/Electric campsite connection posts. This allows them to loan out, free, routers with ethernet cable connections that provide a within camper WiFi network which is awesome! Wish more places did this! The campground staff are very friendly & seem to be always riding around the property on golf carts to pick up trash and check for any problems. Very attentive. All of this does come at a price - our standard pull-thru site was $74 per night - but one which we felt was certainly worth it. We would visit here again. We camped at Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This was our second stay at this campground this year. Check-in was quick and easy. A young man escorted us to our site - B-12 - next to the cabins which were vacant. All utilities were easy to connect although our site had the H2O spigot close to the ground. Trash is put out at the road and is collected throughout the day - however there is no recycling. Cable TV was provided but we couldn't make it work. There are several OTA channels so watching TV worked just fine. The KOA also provides free internet hardwire to a wireless router for our campsite and it worked great. We had high speed WiFi for phones, computers, and for streaming Netflix and Amazon Prime. There is a nature trail in the park -although the distance is not marked, we measured 1.5 miles on Smartwatch. Plenty of room to walk the dogs throughout the park with poop bags and disposal stations in several places. Easy bicycle ride or walk to shopping with Wal-Mart, restaurants, bike shop, and more. One downside - ANTS! Our site must have been on an anthill as the little rascals were everywhere. Also the swimming pool is small, 6 people and the pool is full! We camped at Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

This is an older KOA Holiday but more than adequate. The power podiums are in need of an upgrade, but worked fine, Cable couldn't get most broadcast stations, and antenna reception was iffy. Management said cable issues were related to the last hurricane and they were expecting a complete rebuild in the next few weeks. We camped at Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Pretty expensive for what you get, but I suppose it's the only game in town if you want to visit Charleston. The fact that the only difference between a normal site & a "premium" site is a concrete slab with a couple of adirondack chairs is a joke. Lots of shopping areas on hwy 17 & several restaurants. This is a fairly large clean, well maintained kid/family friendly KOA. The staff was excellent. The roads were paved and the sites were gravel. We had a pull through on a site that was level and a large tree for shade on the windshield. The park has a large catch and release lake and a very clean dog park. There is a long walking trail through the woods around one side of the campground. I took away 1 point because they do not recycle. We camped at Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

So many great things to say! Level sites, lots of room ( We are in a 38' TT), extremely well maintained, nice large dog park, lots of walking trails, bike rentals. Very friendly staff. Good wifi. My husband and I both worked full time without any issues. Very close proximity to all that Charleston has to offer. Beach is close by. We were there for 2 weeks and could have easily stayed longer! We camped at Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Park employees were very friendly. We wish there was more shade available, but you could see that a large tree had just been taken down next to our site, so I'm assuming it was dead. But that large shade tree would have been very nice. There is a constant breeze all the time. Pool was nice and refreshing. They have a free tractor ride to a nearby plantation, it is beautiful and worth the time. Would visit again if in the area. We camped at Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Caution re KOA employees & their parking skills! KOA parking almost brought our 45' motorhome over a 4" high concrete patio pad. When I pointed out thus could have caused substantial damage to out coach, I just got an argument from him. If you do not know how to direct them & park them, do not do it. When we arrived, a back-in site, which we had reserved, was not available for at least 1/2 hour, so within minutes we were escorted to a pull through site. Gravel site, mostly level, no patio but had a picnic table and fire ring. Hook-ups were easy. Roving staff picks up trash at our site throughout the day. Cable available, but we did not use. OTA TV had several channels to choose from. Wi-fi was excellent. Walking distance (about 1 mile) to Walmart and other stores. Very nice area to walk dogs, poop-bags provided. Quiet hours strictly enforced much to our liking. Easy access (by car) to Isle of Palms. Try the Boathouse at Breach Inlet (dinner), Long Island Cafe (lunch), and Sea Biscuit (breakfast). When leaving the park, go out the back way, through the shopping center, so you can make a left turn at a traffic light. If you go straight out from the park it can be a tough left turn when there is a lot of traffic (which is much of the time). We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Clean, well-run campground. The sites are level gravel and long enough (by a lot) to park our RV and car with room to spare. Even after a heavy rain, the sites were not soggy. The campground has great Wifi and cable, and is located conveniently to Patriots Point (a must-see) and Charleston. We were in site 16 and were impressed by the quiet here. Love this place, and we'll be back. We camped at Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

This is an excellent KOA with a great staff, clean everywhere including grounds, gravel sites but very level and solid. Included is a visit to a plantation that the campground is on. This was a really nice park that provided an oasis from the busy US 17 of Mt. Pleasant. The grounds were immaculate and the staff was very friendly and always asked if they could help. It was very quiet at night. Originally we were in Site 12 under an oak tree with falling acorns but we were moved to Site 11 which had no trees for the remainder of our stay. This was an excellent campground. Cable and Wifi were good. We camped at Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We took the water taxi to Charleston from Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina (park outside the gated parking on road for free parking) and took a walking tour from Michael of Charleston Footprints which was excellent. Stand up paddleboarding on Shem Creek from Nature Adventure Tours was also excellent.

This was our first stay at a KOA. We stayed here for a softball tournament at the new Shipyard Park right up Hwy 41 (12 minutes away). We needed a late check-in Friday night but they were very accommodating and had all necessary information out for us. Despite the time, they even came out to show us to our site specifically. Our site was very level albeit a bit short for my TV/TT combo but we did fit. You can tell all of the rain the Low Country is receiving right now is making it difficult for them to keep the grounds maintained and roads in decent shape. (Grass needed to be cut and roads were pretty muddy but they can't help with weather.) The have tons to do with basketball, swimming pool, fishing pond, boat rentals, etc. They also have ICE, Propane, and a camp store that seemed to have a good variety of items. They also allowed a late check-out on Sunday afternoon for a small fee. We camped at Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Conveniently located to many great areas in Charleston/Mt. Pleasant. Try out Red's on Shem Creek or Page's Okra Grill for great eats. New Shipyard Park in less than 15 minutes away so it's great for the softball/baseball travel crowd.
