Overall Rating:

Calling this campground a "camping resort" is really a stretch. It's a barely OK campground in a tourist area that charges, like all the other campgrounds in the area, exorbitant prices because they can. In fact, this one has some perms down at its far back end that are downright nasty and not something one would see ion a "resort." There are some trees, but not any where they'd actually provide shade to RVs. With daily temps averaging in the 90's (and heat index at 105), it's been a struggle to keep the interior of our coach from becoming an oven even with both AC's running. Utilities are good. Water pressure is actually the best we've had on our summer trip. Cable TV is actually HD, a welcome change. WI-FI is kind of hit and miss; sometimes is OK and other times there is no usable connection. More repeaters in the park would be a great improvement. Electric power is strong and steady. One nice amenity is that they pick up trash as long as you leave it it front of your site in the morning. The laundry was nearby, clean, and COOL ! Campsites are pretty close to each other. The concrete pads are nice and level. There is a picnic table provided but campers are instructed NOT to move them ! Although our GPS guided us perfectly to the last turn in our trip, we assumed it was wrong because the road leading this CG was in the middle of the Socastee High School/Middle School complex. The only CG sign is on the fence of the high school's tennis courts. So keep a sharp eye out. One thing our GPS had wrong was where the CG's entrance is on River Road; it's on your LEFT - not your right. Again, signage is small and hard to see. In short, for $68 per day (and that's with the Good Sam "discount"), it is not unreasonable to expect a lot more than this CG offers. NOTE: This campground is just far enough from the attractions that a 20-30 minute drive is required to get where you want to be. We camped at Cypress Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Don't miss the Carolina Opry. They have the most talented, versatile cast of vocalists and instrumentalists I have ever seen. Simply amazing. Legends in Concert ? Meh.

Well, I guess being Coast to Coast members entitled us to an inexpensive site, but, you know what they say - you get what you pay for! Apparently, they reserve the nicer sites for their own members, or those who pay more per night, but we were not offered that option. We have a 44 foot rig, and they gave us what appeared to be one of the shortest and skinniest sites available. We had a large transformer AND an electrical panel (about 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide) sharing our small plot, along with a picnic table and the next site's spinning flag pole (complete with 3 flags flapping in the breeze & smacking up against our car). There was barely enough room to park our compact car, sideways, in front of our rig, and even then, it was in mud. The WiFi was unusable, but they were working on it, and there was a $2 a day charge for crappy channels on cable, but there were only 2 over-the-air channels, so we didn't have much choice in the matter. The grounds could have used a thorough cleanup, but the view from the front row sites was of the well-used waterway, and would have been very pleasant, had we been situated in one of them. This appears to be an older, aging park (though I thought I had read it was relatively new. in 2012, according to their website) and there were many long-term residents, with a lot of accumulated stuff outside their campers. A lot of the permanent RV's are aged and in dire need of pressure washing. Discarded cigarette butts were strewn throughout the grounds and roadsides, as well as in most sites. The sites that did have campfire rings (ours did not) had trash and coals in most of them. There were shady sites and open sites available. Interior roads are dirt, therefore, dusty until we got some rain. Then they were muddy and potholed. We camped at Cypress Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Our site was not very level; had to put 3 blocks on one side and really hike up the front. But the water quality was good; electric good. Had a pool & small playground. Right on the Intracoastal with some docks going out into the waterway. Also had a pavilion with a band one night. Have a community center but it was locked. Also offers a café that serves breakfast & lunch. They have cabins and lots of full timers living there. There is an RV storage area with a big pond and a walking trail around the pond. We camped at Cypress Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed 4 nights. Lot of geese and squirrels everywhere! Under a tree that kept dropping acorns. Because of heavy rains the ground was soft and canal access for fishing not possible because of high water. Not campground fault. Difficult to turn into campground, missed the turn and had to find way around in very heavy traffic. It's Myrtle Beach. We stayed close to friends but because of traffic I don't know if I would consider staying here again. We camped at Cypress Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Enjoyed our short stay (4 days), the park is well kept and very neat. Even the "full-time" residents places are kept clean - and their are very few of those. Office personnel are friendly and familiar with your out of camp adventures. Store is well stocked and the cake is an excellent breakfast and lunch stop. Three docks, boat launching and boat rentals are in the park. We camped at Cypress Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

about a mile and half north of the park on Socastee Road you'll find a restaurant Socastee Station in a strip mall ... not a notable front but inside you will a nice friendly atmosphere ... you will find several the "locals" and excellent food and great daily specials. The Friday Special is fresh caught fish and fresh cut fries.

VERY nice park on the inter coastal waterway in Socastee where you could watch the boats pass by. Nice fishing pier. Community fire pit located near the waterway. Gravel roads. Sites included concrete pad w/table. Sites are spacious and with plenty of room to put out slides & awning. Sites are level and easy in/out. No issues with trees. We stayed in Site 72. All sites are big rig friendly, pull thru with FHU. We were able to get local channels/network stations using our antenna. Nice size swimming pool, and appeared clean. Laundry facilities on site, and worked well. Staff friendly and helpful. Park is clean and quiet. There are a few 'seasonal' sites that were located at the far end and some could be cleaned up a bit. We camped here for 7 nights and would stay here again. We camped at Cypress Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here while visiting friends in the area, and wound up extending our stay to dodge some bad storms at home. The park is located right on the intercoastal waterway and just down from a swing bridge which provided a daily show of boat traffic. Site 61 is pull through and concrete but had a fair slope to work out when levelling. We had 50 amp service, cable, water, and sewer. Wifi was available but pretty weak. There was dog poop on our site that we had to clean up. We camped at Cypress Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here to spend a week with RV friends from Myrtle Beach. We made reservations three months prior for a buddy site. When we arrived, the office had screwed up because they didn't know the layout of the campground when the reservations were made. We were put side by side instead of a buddy site.

Speed limit is 9MPH which is not enforced. Trucks and cars were flying up and down the dirt roads throwing dust everywhere. I am surprised there wasn't an accident over the 4th of July weekend with a child riding their bike into the street.

In my opinion, a "Campground Resort" is an oxymoron. This is a campground, and an expensive one. One week, even with a Military Discount was $454. A campground that has a pool is not a resort.

One other annoying thing. This campground sits on the Intercostal Waterway right down from a swing bridge. All day and night you hear a "DING, DING, DING" from the bridge as if someone didn't put their seat belt on. Quite annoying.

The only good thing I can report is the Waterway Café. The folks are great and put on a fantastic spread on Saturday with ribs, BBQ pork chops, chicken, hot dogs, and all the fixings for $10 a head. The food was great and no one left hungry. We camped at Cypress Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Sites are concrete pad but all lean down toward the river. Bring your leveling blocks. They have picnic tables and fire rings. There are canoes and a boat ramp. The interior roads are full of pot holes, worse than our last visit in the spring. They said the rates are going up so we will most likely find another campground. They have a cancellation fee! $50 if canceled within 14 days of reservation date, $25 if canceled 14+ days from reservation date.

We stayed there in June and found it very nice. We were planning a rally for October and had some trouble with the details and pricing, but when we didn't get the required 15 rig minimum each person who had made a reservation was charged to cancel their reservation. Needless to say no one was happy about this except the campground.

Don't make a reservation unless you are certain you will be going! We camped at Cypress Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

This was our second year here. The spots are all concrete and level, there are picnic tables and fire rings. Almost all the spaces are pull-through. Sadly the interior roads are not good, full of potholes. I think it was once paved, but now gravely pot holes. There is fishing, canoes to rent, and a small walking trail. We will come again. Nice campground with lots of shady areas next to the ICW. Although we live just 5 miles away, we normally this campground before we go away or when we return to make sure everything is set up (and working well) and our dogs are acclimated to the camper. We've seen all types of campers here - the nice and the rude, but the staff is professional. We camped at Cypress Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We traveled with our two children and dog in a small travel trailer. It's very dog friendly and staff was pleasant. We wanted a quick getaway for the New Year. I think in the summer, this place would be nicer to stay at with more to do. You can't rent the kayaks or anything in winter. It's a small campground. Only one short trail around the pond which sadly was littered on one side with lots of discarded bottles and trash. Bathrooms are individual private bathrooms which is nice, but as others have said, very small. No place to set your things down and a sink so tiny you can barely brush your teeth in it. The pool was obviously closed, but looked nice enough. The sites were clean, most were level. The waterway is pretty. Many sites have NO fire ring! It does say you can bring a fire pit, but we aren't used to having to lug our own pit around since every other place we've been has them. My biggest con about this place was that you could hear highway traffic the entire time. It's sandwiched between a highway/busy area, a neighborhood and two schools. If I had realized that, I would have booked somewhere else. If you are looking for a home base to enjoy all the Myrtle Beach attractions, this is a good spot. If you just want peace and quiet then not so much. We camped at Cypress Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.
