Site #98, pull-through site with minimal backing required to situate RV. This is a 30 / 50 amp site with city water, but no on-site sewer hookup. The site is listed as not on the water, but it is really close. The lake is at the bottom of a small hill and is easily visible from the site. This is a shaded site, and at certain times of the year the acorns fall on the RV roof all night and can be REALLY loud. Lots of leaves fall on the slide-out too, so it will need sweeping off prior to camp break-down. BE CAREFUL WHEN EXITING THIS SITE: There is a stump in the front, left fore-ground that is a good guide when leaving the site. Drive the truck and RV close to the right-side of this stump, take the truck into the brush a little bit on the far side of the exit road and then turn the truck to the right to straighten out the truck and RV. The campers the day before our stay hit the tree on the right, and a close look at the tree on the left shows a well-worn scar from repeated scrapes. We camped at Twin Lakes COE in a Travel Trailer.

This is our third COE campground that we have stayed at on Hartwell Lake in the past week. Over 102 sites and most are waterfront with great views of the lake, islands and inlets of the Hartwell Dam & Lake project. We had another great site #40 right on the lake, one could swim right off our site, bathhouse with showers a short walk away and the big lake for kayaking, boating and fishing. Twin Lakes is one of the most popular COE campgrounds in the area. Clemson University is a short drive away. The drive into this campground you pass by a number of farms and research facilities for the University. Hard to get a site here when Clemson has their graduation or a home football game. Nice park and the people that check you in were fantastic. Everyone loves the tigers here. Go Clemson! We camped at Twin Lakes COE in a Motorhome.

First time to camp here but won't be our last. Beautiful lake view on many of the sites. Entire campground was SO clean and well kept. Staff could not have been friendlier! sites are mostly level unless rated for a smaller RV. I highly recommend this campground! We camped at Twin Lakes COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Will definitely return to this campground. Loved the views from our site 33 but was not conducive to us walking our kayaks to the lake. Had to drive car to use beach access area. Very convenient to Clemson and other surrounding towns. Lots to see and do! Love the Publix grocery store 6 miles away in Clemson. We will try to reserve a site closer to beach area next time so we can walk kayaks to water.

I was somewhat disappointed in this park. Set up in four loops, the sites vary from excellent room to too close, sites 25-70 being the best. The pros include nice shade in most of the sites, with good views of the lake, and room to maneuver our 37' fiver with little effort until backing into the site. The disappointment was in the cleanliness of the sites including ours. (I walked around and checked out several empty sites.) Lots of cig butts, bottle caps, and the like. Pet policy was not enforced at all, I had to call out three owners, two whose dogs invaded our site. Most of the sites have a downhill entrance, which can make hitching/unhitching a chore, plus not very level either. There are two dump stations, with easy access. We camped at Twin Lakes COE in a Fifth Wheel.

A campground that would be hard to pick a bad site. Most site are on the lake. It a modern upgraded park. The toilets and showers are clean. My only problem was the showers. You can only turn on the shower by pushing a lever. The water will stay on 10/15 seconds. Then you push again. You can not select your water temperature. It was too hot for me. Overall Rating:

I'm having a hard time rating this stay because Corps of Engineers parks are generally better than most. With just a few exceptions, they are all well laid out, well maintained, well run and reasonable in price. Twin Lakes is all of those, except it is getting "long in the tooth" as COE parks go. The layout for some of the campground is for smaller campers. In some of the campground the roads are narrow, the turns are sharper, the level part of the sites are shorter and and trees have not been cut away from the road. Maintenance of the sites is a problem also - the gravel usually found on COE sites has washed away and has not been refreshed. This makes for a site that is muddy and holds water in rainy conditions. Some sites are not level side-to-side. We saw campers with as many as 4- 2x4s under the wheels on one side used for leveling. Maintenance of the bath houses has also begun to be a problem here. In one bath house, a water leak (for days) kept the floor wet under the toilets. Also, there are no paper towel dispensers or hand dryers in the bathrooms - bring a towel with you! Concrete picnic tables in some sites are impossible to sit at because the seat is too close to the table, and some sites don't have stand up grills.

The best sites are 34 up to 53 along the lakefront. 35 is my favorite for the view and the size. Watch out for site 12 if you're booking online - the utilities are laid out backwards. Site 10 is not level side-to-side.

Gates are locked at 10PM, no in and out. Verizon has good coverage on lakefront sites. If you are booking during football season, check the Clemson Univ. schedule for home games - many party animals!

All-in-all, Twin Lakes is still a good CG with beautiful views at a good price, but as far as COE parks go, it's probably due for a renovation. We have camped here before, but will probably look elsewhere in the area next time. We camped at Twin Lakes COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a good COE park that could be great except for a couple items. Many of the sites have beautiful waterfront views and lake access. The park attendants are very nice and helpful. Two negative comments: (1) Some of the campers are weekend boat party people that block roads with their boat trailers and race in and out in their pickup trucks to a nearby boat ramp. "Watch out for the safety of your kids and pets." (2) The showers were almost always had worms on the floors and walls - this is a little creepy when you are trying to get yourself clean. One morning the shower was full of mud and there were ticks on the wall and shower curtain - most likely the result of an inconsiderate camper who brought a muddy dog into the shower. The following comment is not a reflection on the park, but it should be noted by all who plan to visit the area. The entire Anderson, SC area has had a problem with a high algae count in the water supply from Lake Hartwell most of the summer. You can smell and taste the algae and you can't boil it out. Bring your own bottled water for drinking purposes. We camped at Twin Lakes COE in a Motorhome.

We love this campground and we come every summer. We stayed in site 91 this go around. We like to utilize the sites on the lake for swimming and boating. We rent a boat from a local marina each summer. There are many types of sites to choose from here. Some lake front, some inland. Shaded and very private, also. There are plenty of bathhouses with semi-private showers. Some bath houses are more up to date than others. Usually the water is very hot in the bathhouse, but for some reason it was only lukewarm on this trip. There are grocery stores and a place to buy ice right down the street. Even though we love this campground, I gave it a rating of a 8 because there are a few things that need some attention. The first are the picnic tables. Some sites have concrete picnic tables. They are extremely uncomfortable to sit at. The seats are too close and it is very hard on the elbows. In addition, they can't be moved so this made it difficult to fit everything in our site the way we wanted to. These definitely need to be removed and updated with more comfortable tables. The second problem that needs attention is the cleanliness of the beach areas. The staff needs to maintain the waterfront areas at each campsite. We are seeing the same garbage year after year, such as an old rolled up carpet, etc... To see the same garbage at the same campsite 3 years in a row is ridiculous. In addition, right outside the front gate is some trash along the road. I know that is not their responsibility, but I would think they would report it and have it cleaned up so the entrance would be pleasant looking. We stay at a lot of COE campgrounds and this is the only one that needs some attention with cleanliness. We camped at Twin Lakes COE in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first time visiting this campground. We stayed in site 98 directly on the lake. The site was leaf blown before we got there, the lady asked us if things were satisfactory, and it was. The site itself was very spacious (pull through) and because of the manner of parking, the actual site is behind your vehicle and therefore very private. Sites were spaced with wooded areas in between, which was by far the best I have seen in campgrounds everywhere. On top of everything, the sites were grouped together and served by a separate pull off, so thru traffic on the main road did not immediately pass by our site. Awesome! The staff was very friendly and helpful, greeting us coming and going. We decided to spend an extra night. We'll be back! We camped at Twin Lakes COE in a Motorhome.

The rate cited reflects the Senior Pass rate. Very friendly and helpful staff. Our site had an incredible view of the lake and nice privacy. We did not use the restrooms or showers but saw staff cleaning the outside of the windows so have to guess the inside was clean too. One of the nicest campgrounds we've experienced. We plan to go back! We camped at Twin Lakes COE in a Motorhome.

Rate is for seniors. Beautiful woodsy campground with many sites on the water. Sites were level, gravel and well defined. Quiet at night but boat noise during the days on the weekend. Bath houses were clean but small and spread out for the number of sites. Be prepared for bugs. We camped at Twin Lakes COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This is our second time visiting this campground. We stayed in site 99. Most sites are large and there is space between sites. There are some smaller sites that can only fit tents and pop-ups. There are also a few sites that are a bit close together. Many sites are on the water. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a very family friendly campground.
