37 RV Parks near Pickens, South Carolina
Oct 2014 - $35.00
This is a clean park for adults. There are occasional distant barking dogs, but otherwise it's very quiet. Sites are gravel and dirt, near level, wide, not especially long, with no shade. Water faucets are somewhat below ground, making connection awkward. Some sites have unthreaded sewer connections. Voltage is good. Roads in the park are gravel, adequately wide, in good condition, with a few small potholes. The road into the park is asphalt, in very good condition, but essentially one lane; there's not room for two larger RVs to get past each other. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi is strong; typical speed is 60 kB/s, but can be much slower. Verizon LTE works well. Laundry: 1 top-loader ($1.50), 1 dryer ($1.50 for 45 min.). There is one shower. Rate is the daily rate; there are also very reasonable weekly and monthly rates. Cash only. - wjzcbn
Apr 2014 - $25.00
Lovely park with two lakes, fishing and surrounded by trees. Very quiet and private. Gated security. The owner is very nice and honest. I accidentally gave her $20 too much and she came back to return it. The only negative is some of the sites are not very level. We couldn't set up in the first one because of this. If we are ever in this area again we definitely would stay here. - DennisD
Apr 2010 - $20.00
A clean and quiet facility. Campground appears to be a work in progress: still developing. Road directions were a bit nebulous, but eventually found the place. All in all, not bad. - MaryAnnFrederick
Aug 2018 - $35.00
nice campground with paved roads. White Oak section sites are further apart. What's nice about this park is the hiking trails with waterfalls and a lake. - RedwineRVing
Aug 2018 - $90.00
We stayed here for 3 nights. This was the last rv section at the end of a very winding road. Only lot avaiable I was told. There were several lots vacant in other parts that people came on the 3rd night. The bathrooms and showers were nasty. Wet towels on the floor until the day we left. Mud was everywhere inside the B/R. Lots had just power and water, but there was the smell of someone dumping his tanks. I spoke to a Jr Ranger (twice) bout the dirty bath, showers and the smell. The only person that had a hose out was the site host. The Jr. Ranger looked the other way. I found out that he never passed the word to the park admin. The main check in is a long way from the parking lot . There is no drive up for handicap people. There are plenty af H/C spaces but it was a long walk to the door. Move your H/C parking close to the check in building !!!!!!!!!!!!! We had no cell phone, tv reception was poor and power went out for a time . Couldn't sleep CPAP has to have power. Never again will I leave my generator at home ! And never again will I stay there. - SubVet SSBN619
Oct 2015 - $19.00
This is one of our favorite camping locations in spite of the minor problems pointed out by other reviews.
The Roads are a bit narrow, some of the sites aren't perfectly level. We also found some erosion where the gravel driveways into the sites leave the paved loop.
BUT - The views here are amazing. The lake is fantastic. But mostly this park has some of the best hiking in the South. Great trails that pass many waterfalls and creeks. It's also great to take drives into the Jocastes Gorges and Ceasar's Head areas and enjoy the views, waterfalls and other hikes.
We found the staff very friendly.
But the BEST THING about the park - there is almost NO Cell service and NO Wifi except at the store. So we can focus on camping without being bothered by the office, or tempted to play with our electronic devices. - Buddy Ray
Jul 2019 - $20.00
This is a very beautiful campground with excellent views of the lake. There were a few things that made the visit less than optimal. There is no garbage pickup and there are no trash cans. The only trash receptacle is at the gatehouse at the entrance to the park. It's too far the walk, so if you don't have a vehicle you'll need to store your garbage until you dump. Most campers seemed to have either a boat or golf cart. If you don't, you'll probably feel like a bit like an outsider. Most campers seemed to be long term campers. One camper even had a fence up to keep their dogs. There wasn't a place in the campground to buy ice or firewood or rent kayaks as indicated on their website. There also isn't a place in the park to buy a fishing license or bait if you decide to go fishing. None of these things are a deal breaker, especially at the cost, but you need to come prepared. - amram80
May 2019 - $29.00
Hidden Gem!! We stumbled upon this campground because another park was full-- what a great find!! It has water views in several sites and boat ramp, kayaking. Absolutely beautiful! The roads once in the park are a bit curvy and hilly, so keep that in mind when heading through. Some of the sites would be a challenge to get a large rig in but they are doable. We stayed in site 8, it had a waterview, concrete pad and a bit of a slant but with a couple of boards that was taken care of. There is a pretty good slot between the road and the site that dips down so be aware of that. Otherwise great location! - rbrown5305
Oct 2014 - $19.00
Very nice state campground! We stayed at site #5. Only thing that I did not like about the campground was the loop road. The loop road was not in good shape. Another camper could not back into site #8 due to the condition of the loop road and the trees. With our 33 ft RV, it was stressful driving thru the winding loop but we made it without hitting any trees. Watch out for drain ditches on the sides of the loop road! For this reason, we would probably not stay here again although we loved the site itself. The natural bridge trail was nice and we did it with 3 dogs and 3 kids but it can be tricky and slippery in sections. In my opinion, site #2 is easiest to back into. Site #3 is not bad either. Site #4 is a nice pull thru. Our site #5 is hard to get into if you have a big rig but wonderful site once you are in! Bathrooms were very clean but not updated. Two out of 3 toilets in the ladies' restroom were out. Showers were clean (no doors / just curtains). Park is thrash free which means that thrash cans have been removed. Pack it in / Pack it out. - Tatiana
Aug 2005 - $13.00
Although this park is small it is a great getaway for rest with trails and a park museum. It allows easy acess to two great lakes. Easy to make Reservations through state parks web site. We stayed in the RV section and camped in a tent (tent section was full of scouts but they were quite a mouses) but we now have a popup trailer for our next visit this fall. Good for a stop over on hwy 11 or a week of rest!! - goldfarmer
Jun 2019 - $26.00
The rate given reflects a weekly rate. The campground itself is very clean and well kept. Depending on where you are parked you have a beautiful view of the mountains. The road is paved and good. The sites are on grass, and although it looks flat there are indentions in the ground making it difficult to level. Our automatic jacks on our class C would not work. The only way we got leveled is with the help of the hosts ( who are very nice ), Contrary to other posts, I think this is a great place for children. The road is great for riding bikes and then there is the river where you can float in your inner tubes. As mentioned, the sites are narrow. This would not be a problem if they staggered the campers, which they do not unless you catch them when a new person comes in. They tried to park an A class motorhome on our awning side. When I saw them doing this I mentioned that I thought his slide would touch our awning. They said it would be fine, but they did find him another site. However, I did not catch them when parking someone on our drivers side. They were so close, that I could see their kitchen table. They were not able to put out their awning do to the proximity to our RV. The campground itself is very quiet. Due to the leveling issues, I am not sure I would come back. Although I gave this campground a 7, my husband gave it a 6 due to fact of leveling and putting other campers so close to us. - dori
May 2019 - $30.00
Stayed here for 3 nights. All grass sites are fairly tight (21' - 24' wide) and your back door neighbor is within a foot or so. Park staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The view of the mountains is beautiful. Little to no Verizon service, but the park's wi-fi might be the best we've encountered which makes up for it. No pool, but a nice walk down to the Saluda River. Lots of room to walk your dogs. - Bob Sims
Apr 2019 - $30.00
Park is well maintained. There are no special facilities like a pool or cable, however, the kitchen facilities have been recently renovated and are awesome! This is great if you are holding a rally and can probably hold 75+ people. There is also a small room that will accommodate a group of about 15-20. There is a large pavilion with a large fireplace and lots of wood is provided free of charge. The hosts are friendly and always willing to help. The phone service and wifi are spotty like most parks. - pattieatte
Sep 2017 - $25.00
We stayed here Labor Day weekend. Was very hesitant at first after reading other reviews, but so glad we took a chance! This campground is wonderful! We loved it so much that we stayed the whole week and going back again this weekend! This has been one of the cleanest campgrounds we have stayed at. The bathrooms/showers are constantly cleaned throughout the day. The staff go above and beyond, keeping everything clean and safe for visitors. You can tell they really care about their park! My 4 year old granddaughter really loved the putt-putt area and beach area. We stayed in a 25 foot camper, so had no issues with site being too small. Cannot wait to return!! - CDSham
Jun 2017 - $25.00
First of all the staff is great! We had a reservation for a 44ft campsite and we only have a 30 ft motorhome. Easy fit right? Nope! Not only could we not fit on that site (site 98), we also couldn't fit on any of the other 8 or 9 sites they had available for the two nights we had made reservations for. We had to leave and go find another place to stay! The problem with this campground is that the gravel sites have not been maintained well at all. There are a lot of washout areas. The site selector is also very WRONG.....Here is what I mean...The site selector says you are getting a site that may be 40 plus feet long, but that just isn't there. If you wanna go...you need to go in advance and actually see the site. The sites we saw were also very unlevel...even to the point where if we could have fit would not be able to level up our coach. I would not recccomend this campground....but as I mentioned the staff is great! They did give us a refund. The other loop may be better but we were looking at catfish cove. - Sgarrett415
Sep 2014 - $25.00
Full disclosure - we drove through this campground but decided not to stay here. Sites are small gravel areas not well defined. Very limited sites for large rigs. Suitable for a one night stop but there are better choices in the area for longer stays. - linnemj
Nov 2018 - $37.00
We stayed at Devil's Fork for a short fall getaway. It was a little late for full Fall Color but there was still enough patchy coverage that the park and surrounding area were beautiful. The campground is a bit tight but nothing un-navigable. The have a lot to do there and this would be a great park for families in the summer. The facilities are outstanding and staff was very helpful when needed. We'll definitely be back. - sc_shrpshtr
Oct 2018 - $28.00
Can see lake Jocasse thru the trees. Sites 41, 40, back up to water. Looked level but isn't. Asphalt. ATT ,2 bars no wifi several air tv. Grill and fire ring combo. Bathrooms good, clean. Roomy showers. Walked down behind our site on a path thru the woods to the lake, beachy area. Dump station tilts the wrong way, so our tanks didn't get throughly emptied. - 48 State Goal
Jun 2017 - $46.00
Beautiful area on the shores of Lake Jocasse. Getting there in our 37ft Motorhome was a little unsettling as the roads to the park are not exactly big rig friendly. The park itself is nice, the campground is a little tight and roads to sites are definitely not for big rigs. Sites are not the most level. We were in site 59 which was long enough for our rig and tow car. Site was clean. Didn't use bath house but took a peek - looked a little worn and like it could use some updating. We did use the laundry which was in next loop over and it was "okay" - not the cleanest facility. Since it was not in walking distance we had to take dirty clothes in car. Parked as close to laundry as we could and when we returned to our car, we had a warning ticket for parking in a lot, only 2 others cars there, that was designated for tent campers. The park needs to designate parking for those using the laundry facility. Also, upon check in, the park staff was not the friendliest. Seemed annoyed with tending to campers waiting to check in and abruptly gave us directions to camp site on park map that turned out to be inaccurate. Don't think we will camp here again mainly because of not being big rig friendly but will definitely plan a day trip to park to enjoy the beautiful lake. - Highway Honu
Aug 2019 - $48.00
This is a beautiful small camping resort with FHUs and cabins. I would have rated Resort as a 10 if it were just a little more dog friendly (not easy to walk your dog in grassy areas). Very well maintained property with great owners. WiFi relatively strong, no cable, but good OTA options. Not many great dining or grocery options within 30 minutes, so stock up before arriving. - Eagles Fan
Jun 2019 - $49.00
Stayed here around 1 1/2 years ago. A great campground with the friendliest owners. - P Ardis
Apr 2019 - $45.00
45' coach w/4 slides towing, site 10, reasonably level, shaded, clean 50 amp power, no cable but decent OTA. Gracious hosts. Very clean restrooms/showers. Good AT+T cell. Nice little park within 1/2 hour of numerous state parks and waterfalls. 40 minutes to downtown Greenville. Very pretty area! I will return! - BruceVero
Jul 2019 - $65.00
This is my second visit to this site. The site at July 4th was busy but nice. Fire works were excellent. Facilities were in good shape. - sadiesassy
Jul 2018 - $47.00
This is our 5th stay at this fabulous RV Park. Big open sites, very easy to navigate, good grass between sites, lovely staff, clean restrooms/showers, picnic table, large pool, grounds well tended, trash collection, excellent wifi. The park is on beautiful Lake Keowee. Peaceful and brilliant night skies. We certainly recommend. - Harris England
Jun 2018 - $54.00
Park sits on a hill over looking a nice lake. Roads are paved and pull through pads are gravel, long, level and spacious and with a picnic table. There are no trees. Our campsite was close to lake so view was terrific. Wifi was slow. Park has docks and boat ramp. - Tom Willing
Sep 2017 - $35.00
The staff was friendly as advertised. The narrow gravel road up to the office was dangerous and a car actually had to back up the road because we were halfway up when we met. The rope blocking passage to the campsites was useless as it was not locked and was only a nuisance to the guests. The site for a mid-sized (29') motorhome was too small. Once the motorhome was in place, there was no place for the car. We squeezed the car in and we were unable to open the storage bins and outdoor kitchen doors. Our "full hook-up site" did not have sewer. The Wi-Fi was inconsistent and the phone reception was spotty. Our GPS didn't even work on the way out so it was exciting to travel blind until we reached civilization. My big complaint was we stayed there with Hurricane "Irma" approaching. Even though the bands that reached North Carolina were "only" tropical storm strength, we decided to not chance the gusts with a 12'6" high moving target. When I mentioned it to one of the owners that we were leaving, he almost mocked me telling me it was going to Kentucky. We left, and sure enough gusts were up to 60 mph in the mountains of NC. We won't be back and won't be suggesting this place to our RV friends. - Charlie P54
Aug 2017 - $37.00
This was our first stay at Black Forest. The campground was clean and the staff was very friendly. The sites were a little tight, but once we got backed in/parked (which was very easy & pretty level) and set up, the closeness wasn't too bad (thankfully, we had really nice neighbors). Our site had full hookups (including sewer) and power boxes located on both sides, so very convenient no matter what type of travel trailer or RV you are using.
They do have a large clean pool and offer a pancake & sausage breakfast for $7. There were a few cons, too, though. The campground is a good distance away from the city of Brevard and Pisgah National Forest, so it isn't convenient for those who really plan on spending the majority of their time bouncing around the city. The road up to the campground (from the main road) is a very narrow dirt road and can be a little tricky if you meet another car on your way in or out.
The WiFi should not even be advertised as an extra feature as it's non-existent unless you are up very, very early before anyone else logs on and barely available even then (with no cell service available, it would have been nice to have just in case). Lastly, there's a rope "gate" that you have to take down and put back up every time you come or go in your vehicle from the campground. It's really a useless thing other than being inconvenient as anyone can walk around it at any time and there's no lock on it to keep anyone out.
Overall a very nice place to stay and we'll definitely consider making a return trip. - FlowerChild7275
Sep 2016 - $44.00
Most sites are heavily wooded and the campground is very hilly. We upgraded to a premium site upon arrival so we could get one where our dish would work (it did). Ota was good with and the WIFI was decent. No AT&T but Verizon worked. The roads are gravel so they get bumpy and are pretty dusty. The bath house was clean and spacious but quite a hike uphill from our site. The pool was large and clean. Pretty convenient to Brevard. - Crottys
