We stayed in the older section (Lakeshore) and had a waterfront site. It was very peaceful and quite when we were there. Don't know how it is in the busy season. Lots of places to walk and enjoy the scenery. Did not use any of the facilities so can't comment on cleanliness. Good location for overnight along I-95. We camped at Santee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Nice park with woods and water—this is a great park if you want to be on the water for fishing. We didn’t but it was still a nice park. The sites are gravel and mostly level, but we did have to block up our front wheels to get level. Sites have water and electric and there is a dump station. There are showers that were old but clean and with hot water. Bathrooms were ok but not serviced all that often—out of tp in one stall. Town with groceries and other services about 5 miles away. Good hiking/biking trail. Right next to Santee National Golf if you want to golf. We camped at Santee State Park in a Motorhome.

Park is excellent in view, space and cleanliness. Park would be rated much higher if park had sewer and internet to each site. The sites each had fire rings. The staff is very polite. Sites are clearly marked. We were here a week and not having a sewer is not nice to have to move each time to dump your tanks. We camped at Santee State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed in the Lakeshore Campground section which is older, non paved, and more reasonably priced than the Cypress View section. Road and sites were all sand, road very pitted in many spots, could be bad news during a rainy spell (in which case I would pay more to stay in the other section). Dump station oddly placed near back half of campground. Still, the campground is very convenient to I-95 for those passing through and the lake (Lake Marian) provides a beautiful setting. Most sites are fairly spacious, especially the handful of pull-through sites available, and most are well shaded. Verizon signal ok; over-the-air TV good. We camped at Santee State Park in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here a couple of times in the past, but this is our first time since hurricane Matthew. We stayed on the Cypress Loop, the smaller of the two campgrounds. Since our last visit the roads have been paved and the sites have been leveled with crushed stone. The sites were all 50 amp. There are a lot fewer trees thanks to the storms. I guess they chipped up the downed trees and placed the chips on the sites for fill, which they don't want you parking on. The sites are adequately spaced so you are not up under someone else. The camp host stopped by as we were setting up and introduced himself. Did not have any interaction with park staff except at check-in, which was easy. The place fills on the weekend and a lot of campers bring boats. We enjoyed our stay and will return at some point. We camped at Santee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Campground offers great access to the lake, large sites with plenty of shade & room between sites. But, the sites are crushed, powdery gravel & it rained all three nights we were there. If your interested in a clean rig when you leave, you don't want to stay here. The rain splashed up on our Motorhome & car making a terrible mess! Trees are not kept trimmed & no place, out of the way, to unhook & hook up your towed car. We camped at Santee State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This campground is recovering from a recent hurricane so there were still some "rough edges" to deal with. All sites have water and 20, 30 and 50 amp hookups. Unfortunately, sewer hookups are not available but there is a dump station. The roads in the campground are all asphalt with site numbers painted in front of each site, in addition to being on the power pedestal. All sites are mostly level, crushed gravel. We had a back-in site although there are a few pull-thru sites. Over-the-air TV viewing is limited and with lots of trees, satellite viewing may be questionable. Park staff were friendly and helpful. There is a large lake adjacent to the campground that provides a great view. We will stay again when back in the area. We were in a motorhome with a towed vehicle. We camped at Santee State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Please note... the bad service rating is for the campground host. The park staff that we spoke with at various times seem to be very nice. Santee State Park (we stayed at Cypress View, but there are two campgrounds) is just a basic RV park. If you are not there to boat, or to go off-site to play golf, there's really not too much to do. Fishing from the dock is impossible due to the boat traffic coming and going, and fishing from the bank proves to be difficult due to the rocks and rough terrain (I'm sure a more avid fisherman or woman than myself would have found a way to make it work, though). Cypress View park itself was clean and the sites seem to all be pretty level; however, sites in the lower even 20s do not get much shade and made for a pretty bright and hot stay... even with the A/C on and awning out. There are shaded lakeside sites, but they didn't seem to have much of a view and it appeared that actually getting down to the lake would be a bit difficult. Cypress View is the newer of the campgrounds and less crowded than the original, but the older campground does have more shaded sites. For $30 a night, the park is a bit overpriced. The biggest issue we had was when we left... there was a line for the dump station. Apparently the system was overflowing and could not be used. Other campers had tried to contact the camp host (located very close to the station itself), but they would not answer the door even though they appeared to be home. We tried calling around to several other campgrounds and truck stops in the area, but no one allowed outside dumping. Because of this, we had to carry 3 nearly full tanks all the way home and pay another campground near our RV storage area for use of their dump station. We camped at Santee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very Disappointed on this trip to Santee State Park. This was our first time on this site (#39) but we have stayed at this park many times. First, the site had several stumps insides the site area and two (possible) electrical panels in the site. The picnic table was over the boxes and we could not move it. This made for several trip hazards in our site. Second, the bathrooms were very dirty. I believe the staff was only doing the bare minimum to say they cleaned it. I went in after they had cleaned and it did not look any better.

The roads could use some help since there are several potholes in the park. We camped at Santee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice state park but the washrooms were a little run down and not well maintained. Site was huge and spacious with lots of trees and away from from other campers. Weather was terrible during our stay with a lot of rain so hard to get out and see things. Lots of places to hike and plenty of wildlife. We camped at Santee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Shady dirt sites. Not too near others. 30/20 amp, water. Loop road a little rough. Keeps the speed down, thank you. Rangers and staff friendly and helpful. The hiking trails and Lake View campground were closed due to recent rain storms. The rest of the park was in great shape. Nice observation lounge on lake with wi-fi, good camp store. Small interesting museum. Paved roads for biking. Very nice state park. Cabins are excellent. We camped at Santee State Park in a Motorhome.

Roads in campground loop were very bad; many deep pot holes very bumpy even at 5 MPH. Sites very ill defined. Bath house was very nasty even to the point that a camper tired to do a little cleaning up--is there no campground host or camp staff? Worst South Carolina campground we have ever been to. Don't go there if you can avoid it! We camped at Santee State Park in a Motorhome.

This park needs two dump stations on lake shore side. Campers who stay on "lake side" have to circle the whole campsite to get over to the one dump station, then drive threw the potholes all over again to get out out of the camp site area to leave. The roads are horrible! A perfect spot for a new dump station would be on your way out of the camp, not on the way in! Also I watched 3 different times dead branches fall from trees. Seen many more branches that could give at any moment. I shouldn't worry while vacationing about potholes and trees falling damaging my stuff! And not all, but same on you adults who let their kids run wild! Went to the woods to get away from screaming loud neighborhood only to have loud kids playing threw my site! We camped at Santee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed on site 10 for a weekend and were surprised how people freely walked through occupied sites to make their walk shorter to get to the water. The access to the park is not gated so anyone can drive in whenever they choose. Compared to other SC Parks, we seldom saw a Ranger patrolling. Lots of golf carts, careless young adults driving w/o regard for others. Maybe a good over nite spot, but definitely not an in season destination. Roads had many large holes and sites were not very level.... lots of roots. We camped at Santee State Park in a Travel Trailer.
