Nice people, check-in was very busy, must have been the time of day. Laundry facility was great. Cleaned every morning! I wish you could request not to be near the dog area if you have no pets and away from the playground when you don't have kids! [Needed a] looooong sewer hose. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Sites are tiered on the side of a hill, close together, gravel with concrete patios. Excellent cable and wifi. Office seemed very miffed that I was one hour early, despite making prior arrangements via phone. Beautiful pool. Some small trees. Minimal grounds care. Best thing about this park is that the city trolley comes here several times a day. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Most everything at this park was excellent: service, WiFi, bathrooms, pool and hot tub. The spaces were small and close with very tight parking. Don't need to be here for more than 4 days. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Some of the negative reviews I read are really nit-picky. It's a little steep coming in, but no big deal. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful. The cable TV provides lots of clear channels. The wifi is very good. The trolley runs every hour (not every 2 hours as someone stated). And although the return schedule shows only until 9:45 the driver said you can catch a trolley back to the KOA as late as 1:00am....you just have to catch one and tell them where you're going. As others stated, though, the sites are quite small and tight together. But everyone staying there spends most of their time in town so this didn't seem very important to us. The pool was fine but I would have liked to see it cleaned a little better. But it felt pretty good after a hot day of walking around Deadwood. The washrooms (yes, I'm Canadian) and showers were clean and well cared for. I felt the price was about $10 high, but overall we liked this campground. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

I've had good at KOA's but this one is not a very good one for the money.

The tough navigation in...the steep hill to climb....the very narrow and close hillside pull thoughs...and all facilities at the bottom or top of the hill made it a hard hike to anywhere. Just after Labor Day...the pool was drained and the "shuttle to town" had stopped running, even though the shuttle WAS running in town. Apparently...after Labor Day...this stop is dropped. Suggest checking with KOA outside of peak season. Water and electric were fine...cable was great...internet spotty.

Town was nice...but lots of stuff ended at Labor day that would be of interest to families.

Ok...but not up to usual KOA standards IMO. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

This was worst park I have ever stayed at. Packed us in right up against other campers. Spots available but was told they would be occupied later that night. Next morning the spots sat empty as we were rubbing elbows with our neighbors.

No picnic tables or grills/firebird. No room to move!! Dog park was over grown and nasty. Could not wait to leave. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first experience in a KOA Cabin and we enjoyed the stay. The cabin was clean with free wifi and cable tv. The restroom was clean but the shower head was rather low. Free coffee was a nice touch and the clerk allowed me to put a frozen cooler pack in the freezer. The clerk was very nice and helpful, but he had severe problems using the computer software in order for us to make payment. I would have to leave it with him and check back while he worked on it. It was a little frustrating, but his friendly attitude made up for it. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Cabin.

Owners are office staff and very helpful. Park is 2+ miles from town but they offer a free shuttle bus every 2 hours. Entrance to the park is challenging as you must make a hard right turn in and up a very steep hill. Sites are level but stark and VERY close together. Showers/restrooms are very clean and tidy. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Nice park very near to Deadwood. The park has a shuttle during the summer that runs about once an hour to take you into Deadwood. The park sites are level gravel with concrete patios and a picnic table. The spaces are tight and would not recommend anything over about 30' of travel trailer with tow vehicle. This park has excellent cable with many stations. Verizon LTE only 1 bar or 2, but can be usable for data. Did not see the dog walk section as it was up a hill. This park is older but well kept. The staff were very helpful and nice. Good park for smaller rigs, and the site are quite close together. Would recommend if you rig fits. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

The Good Points: Very close to Deadwood with easy access to both Deadwood and Lead. Located on a hillside, it is quiet at night. Each site has a tree with a paved area for picnic table. Bathrooms were clean. Sites were generally level. A nice perk is a shuttle that can run you into town in about 5 minutes. It runs every hour in July and every odd hour in August. The Bad Points: This campground is very tight, almost ridiculously so. You are so close to your neighbor that you feel like you could reach out and touch their RV. The sites are short and you must squeeze your car in almost diagonally in front of your trailer. I'm not sure why, when they weren't even half full, that they did not alternate sites as people registered. This would at least give you the feeling of a bit more space. Instead, they lined us up like sardines. The bad thing about this area is that you don't have a lot of choices in campgrounds close to Deadwood. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Typical KOA campground with plenty of amenities, but always lacking personal charm. The entrance to the park is a VERY steep incline but no impossible to navigate. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground set in the side of a hill just outside Deadwood. The sites are on multiple levels and in a motor coach it can be challenging. The sites are very tight but the hourly free shuttle to and from Deadwood (casinos, good food) made it bearable. The staff was very friendly. I will stay in Spearfish (8 miles away) only because 30 ft campers should be the size limit. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in a motorhome towing a trailer: about 50 feet. The staff was very friendly and were to able accommodate our unit. It is uphill to get into the campground and the sites are on hillside levels. We had no problem getting to our site, but if you are a wary driver and not very good at maneuvering your rig, you may want to find somewhere else to camp. The campground was not full when we were here and it was a great overnight stay, with a quick trip to Deadwood. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

This park is very small, with extremely small spots. If you think it is uphill to get to the park, wait till you try to get to your spot! If you are staying here for Deadwood, it is a waist of time, nothing but tiny casinos. We went to see some of the History, but there is nothing left. The Hill Top KOA looked like a better spot, wish we had of stayed there. We camped at Deadwood / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.
