We stayed four nights in a 40 foot fifth wheel. This is what I call a typically adequate KOA. The sites were just big enough but by the time you have your rig in and your truck parked there is no meaningful space between you and your neighbors. Sitting outside would mean enjoying the view of the neighbor's coach. We didn't start a fire as I felt it was too close to the neighbor. We also had neighbors and dogs parked basically under our bedroom slide but they did turn it off by 2200. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a fairly clean park, but pricey, $56 per night. We are new at full time and forgot about the holiday, Labor Day. We arrived here on a Wednesday afternoon prior to the weekend, from a long drive and were tired. Fortunately, they did have a space for two nights. I tried to stay longer, but to no avail. Reservations took priority, lesson learned. Spaces nice and accommodated our 40 foot fifth wheel, with full hook ups. I spent all day Thursday swatting flies. I couldn't believe the amount of flies. I can't say too much wrong about this place but be sure you get reservations and don't expect a discount. Welcome to corporate America. It's all about the money! Sweet journey. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

On the KOA scale this one is a bit nicer than most. Close to the highway which they all are but they had a large pool that looked to be somewhat newer. There are lots of trees which is nice for a KOA. I would be back if passing through the area. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Great folks. Lots of trees. Too many trees such that on our way out we could not avoid getting raked by them. David led us to our site and helped us get parked. Unfortunately the park utilities are near the front of our site but our connections were at the back of our unit. So, no cable, no TV. I asked but they did not have extensions or longer cables. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Pretty nice Park. The people were excellent and really went out of their way to take care of us and find us a spot (they were full) when we limped into their place with a Motorhome that was having engine problems. Also, the breakfast food was excellent--much better than other KOA's we have stayed at. Special thanks to KOA worker, David, who really helped us out! We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed here to visit the Black Hills and Hot Springs. The campground is very hilly, but our site itself was flat and level. It is right off Highway 79, but there was no road noise inside our trailer. We had lots of tall pine trees around us, so we had lots of shade. The site was mostly dirt however with some gravel. We stayed here for two nights. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

The campground is quite convenient for visiting things in the Black Hills and a lot less expensive and crowded than most of the campgrounds in the Black Hills (we which learned from experience.)

Staff very friendly and helpful. We were guided to our camp spot and offered assistance. There's a little bit of highway noise but not enough to disturb you. Town of Hot Springs is very quaint. It's about 45-60 min drive to area attractions. We loved our stay here and would definitely return. WiFi very good! Some sites not too level. Check out what's available and pick best one. Hookups convenient. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice campground, though sites could be little more level with little more gravel, so not as muddy when it rains. Very nice owners & staff. Best internet of any commercial park we have used. KOA rates are high, as we don't use most of amenities, so usually try to avoid them. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

We only stayed one night but these people were great. BC we were traveling with a class A motorhome and trailer they upgraded us for no charge to a larger sight. They let us stay a little longer so we could see sights around the town (mammoth and others). They gave us great advice on where and what to eat. I was in the office when they had other people coming in and they just showed such caring. Really wish we could have stayed longer. They have a lot of trees that are pretty close to the camp sights so when u book here keep that in mind. Had wifi and signal the whole time in this area. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to visit these places in Hot Springs; the Mammoth Site, The Evans Plunge (which has clean natural warm water flowing through it continually). Also, see the historic downtown that has sandstone buildings going back to the late 1800's and very early 1900's. Two good places to go out to eat are the Daily Bread Bakery and Café in town and Chops and Hops just down the road from the KOA.

We came in late and the man stayed open later than closing time to help me register. Very nice. He said they were new owners. The place is very wooded with pines. Very pleasant and clean. Nice little dog area. We left early in the morning as well, but would have definitely been happy to stay longer. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

PROS: Nice campground right on Hwy 79 but set back so it's quiet. Nice trees between many of the sites. Nice people running and working at the place. Nice amenities for kids if you have them, including a nice pool. Decent breakfast served every morning. Convenient 15 minutes to Wind Cave NP and just under an hour up to Mount Rushmore so this place can serve as "base camp" for a couple of days. CONS: As is typical with many KOAs, the bathrooms and laundry rooms were quite dated - may or may not be a factor for guests. The biggest drawback is the sites - many are not level front-to-back so need LOTS of blocks to assist. This all said, we'd come back and stay again. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for three nights. Right off Highway 79. Lot of trees as we maneuvered to our pull-through but manageable in our 45 ft coach with tow attached. Very quiet, beautiful view. Pool looked great but did not use. Very convenient to Hot Springs. Sites are close together. We would stay here again. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.

This park is located in a great area and has trees. However, it is NOT big rig friendly. Their overnight sites are small and not level at all. Although the staff are friendly we had to ask for help parking after not being able to get in the first two sites. In the first we could not open our slides in the second it was so steep our front was 3 ft up in the air and dangerous. The third was OK but still not very level. The person who helped us never did stay to make sure we were OK. We camped at Hot Springs / Black Hills KOA in a Motorhome.
