74 RV Parks near Keystone, South Dakota
Oct 2018 - $40.00
Easy access and good signage. Check in was quick and informative. We were escorted to our site which was a gravel/grass pull thru. It was long enough and we had good room for slides and awning. Our site came with power.water, sewer and cable, table and fire pit all of which were placed well. In this section the sites are terraced. The grassy area of our site had a gentle slope so our table was not level. The park was quiet we rarely heard any road noise. Cell service was spotty, we had one bar using Verizon. Groceries and Gas just a few miles down the road in Custer. This is a well run family operation. Our only complaint was the poor cable reception. No matter what we did most channels (not all) were fuzzy. There are no shops or restaurants within walking distance. We paid $38.16 per night including our GS discount and we feel we received good value for our dollar. We would return if in the area. - Rollin Ollens
Sep 2018 - $43.00
This was a convenient family-run RV campground, about 3-miles west of Custer. Interior gravel roads & sites, 80 foot level sites with wide grass area between coaches. Mix of cabins (including at least 1 Teepee) & RV sites. Some sites able to get DirecTV, all or most had full service, etc. Rate w discount: $43.20/nite. Free bikes for kids, clean, convenient showers & restrooms. - JerryD
Aug 2018 - $44.00
Beaver Lake CG just west of Custer, SD. Very roomy and staff are excellent. Swimming pool, water slide, fire ring, they have Bicycles you can borrow for free. Easy in and easy out. Restrooms are clean and general store is well stocked. I never seen such large Pull-throughs. Although the Campground is very hilly, the sites are level and spacious. They accommodate campers that want to face each other and Camper that want tents on their sites with them. Before we left, this CG became my favorite of all time. Keep in mind, the roads are all gravel but that's what makes it a true Campground. We will be back! - Zeke Zaberdek the big Freak
Sep 2010 - $35.00
We stayed for one night. The setting was very nice and impressive. However it cannot compare to RV-only parks. Was not as nicely kept and more noisy than RV parks that we stay at. - RVPRO
Aug 2006 - $30.00
Nice and quiet place. Most sites are back-in. Big playground and steam train goes right across entrance! I'll stay there again. - Will Travel
Aug 2017 - $49.00
Nice campground conveniently located very near the town of Keystone and Mt. Rushmore. As others have noted, the campground is strung along the bottom of a narrow valley between the hills and a two-lane road and railroad tracks. The RV site we were in was short, the truck could not be parked immediately in front of or behind the trailer. The restrooms were clean, although 'rustic' and had a musty smell. The staff was friendly and helpful in helping us get into our site. - LarryG48
Aug 2017 - $44.00
Big rig friendly with level sites. Wifi worked good most of the time. Showers were good. No dog park but lots of grass to walk dog. Pretty views of Black Hills National Park. Convenient to Keystone, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, and Hill City. - Fulltimersrv
Jul 2015 - $42.00
We loved this park. It's what a country RV park should be, level site, a stream right behind us, really great shade trees, well groomed area, table at each site. Although we faced a road, it was not a high traffic area and really quiet. Enjoyed the train coming by across the road on it's trip from Keystone to Hill City and back. The WiFi and electric were excellent, much better then the Military Base we stayed at close by. The owner was really friendly and helpful on choosing a good route back to SLC, UT. We'll be back next year and spend more time here. It is a great place to stay while visiting the area. The spaces are wide enough to enjoy kicking back and totally relaxing. - sgtjoe44

Aug 2016 - $48.00
The park is in disrepair. There is no cable TV and the wifi is actually up in the hotel and is unuseable.
The men's bathroom has not been cleaned during my stay and is very well used.
The spaces are very right and any sizeable unit with slides find parking a challenge.
If you want to camp right in Keystone so you walk to the shops and train, it is a place to park. If you intend to stay in the area for any length of time, I would recommend looking elsewhere. - GaryWB1953
Jul 2011 - $37.00
Campground was run down with lack of maintenance. Problems viewed were 50% of showers not working, holes in restroom floor, keys issued for restroom were not necessary as locks were not working, camp site markers down and damaged, poor attitude of registration staff when problems were brought to their attention. This could be a nice little park close to Mt Rushmore. It is very run down and associated with the Travel lodge Hotel Chain. One would expect to pay premium prices for a park close to an attraction, but price was high for a good quality park in the area, let alone the very poor shape the park was in. - Old Detective
Jun 2007 - $27.00
We stayed here one night. Laundry was next door under gas station. Sites were all pretty flat and we did have plenty of room with a 25 foot bus. It was a bit slow when we were there and if it was full it would be a little bit tighter but would be enough room to spred out a little bit. Wireless internet was available but we couldn't get the signal from our spot. The cable was a bit fuzzy on a couple channels. Electric on half the sites on wrong side. The ground was good for the wheelchair hard packed gravel and even with the rain it wasn't full of puddles and wasn't muddy. - wmah
Jul 2017 - $35.00
We had a reunion with 6 camp sites, 4 cabins. The site & facility was decent. The area was beautiful. The service and hospitality was terrible. Very rude, unfriendly, and disrespectful. - Doug Steffen
Aug 2016 - $34.00
My family and I camped here for two nights, this is a very nice park for tent camping or small campers/motor homes. I can see where larger vehicles would have troubles, not because of the park, but due to the roads coming in, beautiful drive, but probably not in a large vehicle. The staff was very friendly, and we really enjoyed the restaurant for breakfast. The facilities were all clean, and the scenery is fantastic. If you are vacationing in this area, I would highly recommend this park. - lmhortec
Aug 2013 - $16.00
We camped here from Friday, August 30, 2013 to Monday, September 2, 2013 with our son and his family. The campground is quiet, clean, and peaceful. We enjoyed swimming in the clean, in-ground pool (although if it were covered at night with a solar cover, that would have helped the VERY cold temp a lot), mini-golf, endless hiking opportunities, and a campfire each night. The scenery can't be beat! Camp store has limited supplies, swimming accessories, ice, firewood, souvenirs, and lots of t-shirts for sale. There is a small deli attached for an 'on-the-go' meal. We enjoyed this camping experience very much. We camped here in a motorhome and our son has a 5th Wheel. Note: The $16 per night camping fee was military discount. - TrixieBelle559
Sep 2017 - $45.00
Don't believe what you read. Might be a nice place for a picnic lunch, but not to camp. Wanted to put my 34 ft TT in a spot that would barely fit, with a view of the garbage dumpster from the café. We were there the night of the staff party. Lot of noise late into the night. Would not recommend. - KJOHN5801
Jul 2017 - $45.00
This campground has a beautiful setting with great potential. Needs some good upgrading; could really use much better bathroom/shower facilities, some fresh paint, etc. Good location, close to Custer State Park. They have two "pet" wolves in a small fenced enclosure; they REALLY need more space. Seems cruel to have them so confined. - Mark & Karen
Jun 2017 - $35.00
Great customer service, friendly and eager to help. Convenient location close to Mount Rushmore. Highly recommended. - duGly
Jul 2016 - $28.00
Trail heads to the Black Hills and Custer - fabulous for mule riding. The steel pipe corrals are spacious with water and electric at each camp. The cabins are clean and well kept. There is a general store on site with breakfast and lunch being served daily. The only evening meal is Bbq ribs on Thursday and they are fabulous. Owners are gracious hosts and make you feel at home. Hay is trucked in from local farmer - let owner know how many bales you will need. This is mule country where God smiles down on you. This is my 2nd stay at Elk Haven Horse camp - it feels like home. - Cindy K Roberts
Aug 2011 - $28.00
This was a very nice campground. Most corrals are covered, plenty of corrals to keep horses separate. Very clean restrooms and showers, with laundry available and a small restaurant on site. Wi-Fi is available if you are close enough to the office/restaurant which also has a HUGE covered porch with lots of rocking chairs, tables for playing cards or checkers and seating area for all to enjoy. Very friendly owners. Biggest downfall was the camp sites are very un-level, so bring lots of wood for leveling your unit. The trails are easy and very scenic. Riding to Lakota Lake is a "must do". - Hole in the Wall Gang
Sep 2018 - $13.00
As mentioned, this is a conveniently located, relatively small, quiet campground-typical nfs. We stayed after the supposed closing date: call nfs ranger office (number online) to see if closing date extended due to good weather. Water and trash pickup still available in mid-Sept but no threaded spigot. Our site 20 was small but level. Sites with lake view are straight ahead from entrance beyond sign stating "No trailers beyond this point". Sign should say "Max RV length of 24 ft due to turnaround and site size limitations". If your rig is smaller, check these out. Be aware there may be road noise at these tho, since sound carries across the lake. - Jane & Art
Jun 2017 - $13.00
We have stayed here every year since 2009 and always look forward to staying here. Hosts are very friendly, helpful and are always keeping track of who is coming and going. This CG is well kept up, CG restrooms are newer and clean, firewood is available, plenty of shade and CG is quiet. No electric but generators are allowed, potable water is available at the hydrants. The lake is beautiful and swimming is allowed. CG is within 10 minutes of Mt Rushmore and within an hour of Rapid City, Wind Cave NP, Deadwood and Spearfish. One of the posts said they couldn't get the CG's WIFI, WIFI is not provided in the National Forest Services CG's. Most of the NFS CG's we have stayed in are beautiful and well kept but this one is one of our favorites. If you like "roughing" it then check this one out. - Jay Miller
May 2011 - $23.00
Great rustic campsite. Can use generators. Great views and really close to Mount Rushmore. Big sites with cement areas under picnic tables and grill area. Very clean. Vault toilets. No showers. Faucets for water. Recycling available. Great hosts greet and will help you - they will help you with anything. Some sites right on the lake. Forested area. It is very rightly a popular choice and we are glad that we booked in advance. - akaese
Jun 2017 - $40.00
Stayed here for a week. This park has nothing to offer past full hook ups. The sites are pretty narrow and somewhat level. Even though it is up against a highway to Keystone, it is below it enough that the noise isn't horrible. Gravel pads and roads. The WiFi worked very well for us with out Pepwave and the Verizon signal was usable. We picked this campground because it is centrally located to just about everything. The nightly fee is ridiculous for what you get. Small park equals quiet evenings. - Ghettomedic
Sep 2016 - $35.00
A few weeks back, I asked about Holy Smoke Resort/Campground near Mt. Rushmore. There were several older posts, so I wanted to give a current review.
We stayed for 2 nights. It is a full hook-up only, no bath houses, which was fine for us. There are only 20-25 sites. All sites are pull-thru, and big enough for the biggest 5th wheel or diesel pushers. Not any real frills, but comfortable and best of all QUIET. It was off season, so including tax it was $38 and change per night.
If you are going to Mt. Rushmore, we would give it two thumbs up!
Happy travels!!! - John Harris
Sep 2016 - $45.00
The problem I personally have with this park is that it is advertised as a "Resort". This is simply not true. What it really is, is an over-priced parking spot conveniently located close to Mt. Rushmore. No bathrooms, no showers & NO fires. We couldn't even use our Smokey Joe to cook dinner. You have to have a gas grill. Had I known I guess I would have packed one had it been advertised as such. The spots are at least level & shaded. They do have hook-up for electric, water & sewer. All the RV spots are right next to 16 coming into Keystone, constant vehicle noise. - Lets_travel
May 2019 - $75.00
Large park with nice large spaces, plenty of room for our 40 ft MH and toad, grass area at every site - good wifi and good verizon service. Good water pressure, no cable tv - but good satellite reception if in front area with no trees. Friendly at check-in but wish would have been told was a "membership" park when made reservations, offered a "special price" if we attend sales meeting.... no thank you Thought was kind of pricey for what you get. About 20 - 25 minutes from Mount Rushmore. - travlingtrio
May 2019 - $1.00
Very nice, very large RV resort with paved roads and gravel sites with large grass areas and table and 1/2 mile away from the highway. Sites with and without trees. Both big rig pull thru and back-in sites are wide with 30 or 50 amp W & S. Free un-secured Wi-Fi but very weak in some areas. Large game room and club house, heated swimming pool and spa. Three separate kids play areas and a miniature golf course. Very good Verizon cell and 4G signal. Satellite TV signal in most sites but no cable TV in park. Only a few scheduled activities on holidays. Staff friendly and helpful. 10 miles outside of Rapid City and 10 miles to Mt. Rushmore. Cost listed is for ROD. We will stay there again. - Pepper Dan
Sep 2018 - $70.00
Large clean park. Easy access. Nice pull thru . Price a little expensive but good for a short stay. - Vonda Morris
