We had a flat tire outside of Aberdeen and were behind schedule. We stopped in Ipswich to check on a spare tire and found this campground. It is a no frills campground with full hookups (including 50 amp) on Highway 12 in town with only 3 or 4 spots. It is located across the street from the owner's body shop, so when the body shop is closed at the end of the day not sure how you would check in. It is basically on a vacant lot, but well maintained. Right across the highway is Ken's Market and fuel station. As mentioned, it is no frills, but at $20. a night it was a bargain and a relief to for us to happen upon it after a stressful day. - marker82

NOTE! The campground is in the South side of the park not the North side. This park is a doppelganger of Mina Lake CG except this one only has 23 camp sites. All roads and sites are paved and have 20,30,50 amp power. There's no water or sewer hook ups but there's a dump station and water as you enter or leave the park. We did not stay at this park but did a drive through to evaluate it. Rest rooms are plumbed with nice showers that we did not use. Most sites are level but there are a few that would need a lot of adjusting and extra blocking. All sites are back in and can handle big rigs with some sites probably large enough for the full legal lengths allowed on highways. The site is well shaded and has play ground equipment, swim beach, Disc golf course, and boat ramps in the park. The State reservation system works very well online or they have a 24 hr res. line that you can call and set everything up on the day you arrive if you didn't make prior reservations. We have stayed at 2 state parks and have visited several and I must say that the State of South Dakota has their crap well consolidated in both the design, construction, and reservations. Note: if you are going to stay > 5 days and or are going to Custer State Park buying the annual State Parks Pass maybe well worth it. We did not stay here but would not hesitate to in the future. - pumper9x9

Pit toilets almost unusable. Most people here for the fishing. Nice grass sites. Isolated area with fishermen showing up occasionally. - mjtesky

A repeat of my 2011 stay and review impressions. Asphalt CG roads and site, most level, some unfortunate exceptions, with nice spacing with well mowed grass and areas of taller grass and bush between sites. Lots of trees. Bath house had 2 showers with hot water. One small cabin with porch right onto the lake. No site water. Two hard to get to faucets in the middle of CG loops. Dump with potable water at entry. The CG and park is on Mina Lake's shores. The other section for day use has a boat ramp, a paved berailed rampway to a pier with benches for handicaped, two nice playgrounds, picnic areas, swimming sand beach, and gravel paved nature trails. Good job South Dakota! - 210jem

About the neatest and nicest campgrounds I ever stayed at. Has a tarmac driveway and mostly level sites in perfect surface condition. The grass is neatly mowed. It is located right by a beautiful lake, with a nice playground for kids. Has a very new, clean and neat bathhouse. Has a genial, talkative host who has been here as host for several years. The dump is beyond the entry. No site water but two facets located in the middle of the loops. It's not easily gotten to from the loop road. Potable water hose can be found by the waste dump. Personally, I don't trust any source so close to a dump. I've seen too many careless people contaminate dump areas. So, other than refilling water tanks, I really like this park and decrease it to a nine only for that reason. - 210jem

It is a great park, all the views you can see the lake. Friendly host, and the park is very clean. - excel14
