3 RV Parks near Murdo, South Dakota
May 2018 - $60.00
GPS brought us right to the American Park RV Park. Checkin was at the American Inn motel. We were in the upper level which was a nice concrete pad on a long pull thru. The roads were paved and the upper level is a big rig friendly park with the sites not crammed together. We put our RV in the pull thru so that our sewer hose would reach and also putting the front under a shade tree while allowing a good line of sight for our roof mounted satellite dish around that tree. Once settled the hookups were convenient. The park had free wifi but we did not use it. We probably should have since the ATT 4g was 1 bar, sometimes 2 but spotty. ATT cellular was better at 3-4 bars. - Bob & Jo

Great for a one nighter. Neat, organized, level pad. Friendly check in at the motel front desk. Great steakhouse behind the campground with stairs taking you right to the restaurant. - TXTread

There are two sections in this campground. The lower campground is older, down a dirt road that is navigable, with unpaved campsites having water and 30 amp electric. The upper camping area is new on a paved road with concrete pads and full hook up with 50 amp service. Services are excellent although the sites are very close together. There is a picnic table at each site but no cable or WiFi available but there is good satellite reception. Half the upper campsites are back-in and half are pull-through. The pull-through sites were long enough for my 35 ft motorhome and tow vehicle and I didn't have to unhook. This is a great place for a stopover. - Two Hobos

Nice friendly staff and it would be a great place when it was not raining and muddy. Very quiet. Nice looking dog park. - rolling homeless

All the RV sites are pull through with cable TV. Most are FHU with the rest being W&E. There are also tent sites and cabins. All sites have cable TV and Wi-Fi. There is a pool, a playground, bathrooms, a laundry, and a pizza cafe during the summer. - Jerry S

This campground is under new ownership as of Spring 2018. It has easy access to the I-90 freeway, and would probably get more business if it lowered its prices to be more in line with the area. This is a "Journey" KOA, so there are no activities or entertainment other than the pool. The new owners have a lot of work ahead of them to spruce up the park, but all utilities are located logically and in good working order. That's what mattered most to us. There is a limited number of channels on the camp cable, and it worked well. There's plenty of southern sky if you bring your own TV cable satellite dish. We used this KOA as a base to visit The 1880 Town (amazing), 1940's Zephyr Dining Train (that served great breakfasts), the Minuteman Missle Silo Historic Site Visitor Center, Wall Drug (a must do) and the Badlands National Park. - OH2SD
