Very nice campground. The Managers and Staff work very hard to make sure your stay is enjoyable. We were greeted with a smile upon check-in which was quick and easy. We were escorted to our site by staff. Our site however was not very level so it took a little maneuvering to level our MH. We had to put boards under the front tires otherwise the tires would have been off the ground. There were quite a few motorhomes that had their front wheels off the ground, some by several inches. We had boards with us, so we were fine. I do know however, Management is working on leveling all sites and considering putting concrete pads in throughout all the RV sites. The campground is beautifully maintained, interior roads are gravel and all the sites are gravel with grass and trees in-between the sites. The trees are well trimmed so no low lying branches. Pool, restrooms and showers were immaculate. They also have underground cave tours on the property for a fee. We did not do this as I am very claustrophobic. The Managers are a wonderful couple who have taken over the property a while back and have made so many improvements to the grounds. I do recommend it and would definitely return if and when we return to Chattanooga. We camped at Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Rock City is a must see..Downtown Chattanooga (North Shore) has great shopping. There is a Whole Foods and Publix at the North Shore, and there is a Walmart just a few miles from the campground. Also take a trip through the Tennessee Valley Authority, 6 miles from the campground. A beautiful ride up the mountain to the top reservoir and cross the dam to a beautiful picnic area, views and nice paved hiking trails.

Unlevel and tight spots, very small and winding roads to get there. The spots were barely long enough for our fifth wheel, barely any wiggle room in front or behind. However, The staff was friendly and the park was clean. they accommodated us with little notice. We camped at Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our second stay at this park having stayed here 4 years ago....The park has expanded some with new sites and modernized bath facilities...Pool was not open for the season, looked like a larger patio area had been added. The park was very well maintained...A cave exploring option is available, we did not go. We camped at Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The park was very nice and the people were very nice. We didn't receive our Good Sam discount because we were told that we were given the weekly rate which was better. I am not sure if we were supposed to receive both or not. We were escorted to our site and they stayed to make sure we were positioned so our slide outs would have enough room. It was very nice place to stay. We camped at Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

JLHickerson, thank you for staying at Raccoon Mountain and for taking the cave tour. It is truly an amazing experience and our guides are top notch. We always believe in extending the best rate to our guests and I am pleased to hear that you found our staff to be friendly and helpful in getting you positioned. Please come back and see us. Excellent customer service - she rode me around in a golf cart so that I could pick out a site that I liked. Unfortunately, the one that I picked was not level (pretty bad), but we made due for the two nights. Very nice views. Nice dog park. The pool looked very nice. Seemed like a very quiet and safe campground. My husband complained that the bathroom was not adequate seeing as how there were so many nearby tent campers. Also, we had to pull up pretty far in order to open the slide (tree in the way) and then were too far from the sewer (so just skipped using sewer). Still overall, a nice place to stay at for a couple of days - we would return. We camped at Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

We like the country atmosphere here. There are trees everywhere, but not that got in the way of my slides. The current owners are doing a lot to make this campground a destination rather than just a place to stay. The down side is that the sites are not very Level - many motorhomes had wheels off the grounds. By careful parking I was able to keep all wheels on the ground, so it is possible, just not easy. On the positive side, all the utilities worked fine. The WiFi was, unfortunately, typical RV Park WiFi - just so so. Overall, though, this is a nice place and I will definitely be back. The caverns in the campground are worth doing. Ruby Falls, Rock City, and Point Park are all within 15 minutes. The Tennessee Aquarium is about 20 minuets. Chickamauga Battlefield is about 30 minuets. The Southern Belle riverboat is a fun way to see the Tennessee River.

First trip and was recommended by a friend. We did a buddy site with our other friends and it was great! We came for a basketball tournament so, after games, the pool was a huge hit! The girls also loved the volleyball net. Laundry on site was great just for drying towels for the next day! We have already gotten our next visit scheduled for October and can't wait to try out the caves this time! We came in after closing time the first night and a worker still came up to us as we pulled in and was so nice! They go above and beyond here! We camped at Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Having done 4 nights, no hookups in Cades Cove, headed home an got caught in the nightmare that is Chattanooge thru traffic. Called and asked if a one night stay was available. They said yes. Great views, lots of amenities and a really eager staff. Stayed in a pull through, no problems. Easy in, off the interstate, plenty of nearby places to shop or eat. Got up and got on the road back home. Would be a really nice place for a few days to relax. We camped at Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice campground just to the West of Chattanooga. Good cable and Wi-Fi and utilities were well placed in the site. Trash is picked up twice a day. Looks to be plenty of staff members always busy doing something to keep the campground clean and well maintained. Easy access to Chattanooga and the surrounding area. Campground sits at the base of Raccoon Mountain and overlooks the valley towards Lookout Mountain. We camped at Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Spent one night at the park. Arrived around 6PM and was told our Good Sam discount could not be honored at that time as the office was closed and the young man could only take our money and assign a site. The following morning the wife contacted the office and requested our discount which was denied stating she could not verify our member account and didn't even want to see our member card that it was too late to get a discount. Office gal was very rude and mad; no offer to make things right. The park is generally well maintained but over priced compared to other parks in the area. Will not stay there in the future. High price for a closed pool. Sites are long, however on our assigned site the electrical connection was at the very front edge of the site. We needed a 50 foot extension to connect to our coach's 35 foot cable. Lucky we fulltime and have a long extension cord. The pool was unlocked on our first day and locked on subsequent days. There was no sign saying a reason for closure on a hot sunny late May day. Had to walk back to the office to find out why. It needed inspection and would not open until June 1st. This should have been on the website, as I would have chosen a different campground. They do not have crisp, clear communication. If they did, they would have posted a message on the pool gate and website regarding pool closure, reasons, and expected opening. On the good side it is quiet with long sites and good maneuverability. About half the sites are level, the other sites slope...bunker wood needed. All types of RV's and tent camping is available. There are forested areas if you want that, or more open places. We camped at Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Most informative "tour" was the US Park Ranger guided tour of the Lookout Mountain Civil War Battlefield. The ranger, Chris Young, gave the best historical perspective of this battle, the setup for it and the Civil war. He covered the views from both Union and Confederate sides. Just a complete, detailed, unbiassed, thourough discussion. Don't forget to buy bread at the Bluff View Art District Bakery. It is AMAZING!!!!!

A very nice campground located away from the downtown Chattanooga area. We were escorted to our site that was fairly level. We could not use the rooftop satellite but the carryout did work well. They have cable too. The office personnel was knowledgeable and helpful. We would stay here again. We camped at Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We took the hop on/hop off to see the city. The last stop was the incline railway which we rode to the top of Lookout Mountain. A spectacular view. Near here is a purple restaurant serving some of the best BBQ. We went to Rock City the following day and were glad we went early in the morning before the heat took over. We also visited a great guitar museum in Chattanooga and took the expanded tour that takes you back into the vault. We would like to go back and explore more.

Nice CG with the opportunity to hike up the mountain and/or explore a cave. The spaces are tight with very little room for yourself; looking out over the maintenance yard. Lots were pretty level. The grass was very long but eventually the crew came through and cut it. There is a nice big dog park and a good stream running behind the primitive section. There had been a lot of rain so the stream was running strong from our 2nd day on. There is a real swinging bridge over the stream about 15' long. No steel braces under the bridge but good strong cable holding you up. It was fun for humans and dogs. The hike was challenging for us as it required some hands and knees as well as rope climbing to conquer the mountain. There are a couple of paths you can take, but if you don't know that you don't know how easy or technically challenging your hike will be. All of this is right on the CG grounds. After saying all of this, I would probably look for a different park to stay at the next time through. The very tight spaces was a big negative. We have stayed in a lot of CGs and this was the worst for being on top of one another. We camped at Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.
