Have visited Gatlinburg before and stayed in the KOA in Newport. Arrived with light snow!!. Campground nicest one we have been in, in quite awhile. Looked like new gravel over entire park. Some foliage between sites. We had a pull thru (probably smallest in park), but room for leaving toad hooked up. Had planned on visiting Gatlinburg, but nite temps went to below freezing. Cold, stayed in warm MH. Folks very nice, guided me to site. Back-ins were spacious. Pricey, but would come back in warmer weather. We camped at Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

20 minutes off Interstate 40 at Newport. Passed usual stores, restaurant's, fuel stations. Some slow windy roads before entrance to campground. All blacktop and speed-bumps on entrance. Campground backs up to Great Smoky Mountain National Park. They have a 4 wheeler tour (2 hour?) of the park, leaving from the campground. To cold for now.

Nice clean gated campground. Very friendly staff. Good water pressure. Good cable. Wifi was OK but the park was mostly empty. The pull-through sites are pretty much level. Park offers guided quad tours for a fee. Large camper lounge. We camped at Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is now a KOA. Probably one of the best we have ever stayed in Looks like they are making improvements. There was fresh gravel throughout the park. And spray lines on the ground for something up coming. The driveway into the campground is windy and steep. The campground itself is set into the side of a mountain however all the pads seemed really level. We were there to see the eclipse and even though the campground has tons of trees there were plenty of open spaces Wifi was excellent. We would stay here again. We camped at Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA in a Motorhome.

Please note that this park is now called Gatlinburg East/Smoky Mountains KOA. We stayed three nights in site 18, a back-in site with W/E/S plus cable (with lots of channels). Exceptionally neat and clean park (including bathhouse) with tons of amenities: nice pool, play areas for kids, rentable bikes, ATVs, etc. The spots are close together which makes for a tight back-in, but it is doable and they provide knowledgeable help to get you in your site. Once in, it does not feel crowded. Staff was very friendly. We had full LTE (AT&T) and lots of cable channels so we didn't try OTA or satellite. Wi-fi was okay. This campground is an easy 15-20 mins from Gatlinburg. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to families looking to explore this area. We camped at Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Grab breakfast at Crockett's Breakfast Camp in Gatlinburg: the Black Bear Skillet (easily enough to feed 2!) and the fried cinnamon rolls are great. In busy season, get to Gatlinburg *early* to beat the crowds both in town and on the scenic drive (do it!) and national park roads. Crockett's is right by the start of the scenic drive. Our kids enjoyed the Ripley's museums, especially the Haunted Adventure if you want to be really scared!

We spent 7 nights at Smoky Mountain Premier RV (Gatlinburg East KOA). The campground was only about 25% full as we stayed before they have got into the summer busy season. The grounds are well maintained. Although we did not use the bathrooms, they were fantastic. The laundry room was also great. The owner would stop by to chat from time to time while he was constantly working on the campground. He helped us with a minor mishap getting our vehicle off of our tow dolly. The staff was all very friendly. When you purchased firewood, they delivered it regardless of how close or far your site was. We were in a pull through site that was very large. As we walked around the park, except for the sites that were physically too short for our coach, we would stay in almost all of them. The park is about 15-20 minutes to Gatlinburg. The drive is a very nice one. The Wi-Fi and cable were both great. We were close to the office, so do not know how it performed at the back of the park. All the sites had at least part shade. In just a few years as the tree crowns start to expand, it will be an extremely shady park. Although we did not use it the pool and playground were both very nice. We would definitely stay there again. We camped at Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Arrived on a Thursday and departed the following Saturday in March. The park is only about 3 years old and still growing. Check in was fast even thought they were switching to a new KOA system and still learning the software. They offered no discount for this time of year. The park was very clean. The restroom and showers were very clean. We did not use the laundry. We stayed in slot 67 at the back of the park. We have a 27 foot camper and it was easy to back in. Most slots have a picnic table. Water and sewer connection were good. Some of the fire pits are to close to the next slot. We were lucky that no one was next to us. Their fire pit was only about 5 feet from our camper. There is a gravel road at the back of the camp that leads to hiking trails and some homes. There was a little more traffic than we expected during the day. The park only had a few other campers there, so it was almost empty and quiet. They were doing some upgrades during the day but the noise didn't bother us. WIFI was very good even though we were in the slot farthest from the office. 15Mbps Download, 3Mbps Upload. Good enough to watch Hulu and Netflix with no buffering. Cable TV only had about half the channels listed in their guide but we don't watch TV. We left at 8:30 am. No one was in the office yet but they had a gate card drop box and the gate was open. We camped at Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park in a 36 foot Class A with a tow vehicle. We did not have a pull through and still had plenty of room. Our site was level. The sites are stepped up the side of the hill. Another reviewer seemed to think this was an issue, It's eastern Tennessee, all the flat spots were taken 100 years ago! I thought that there was plenty of space between spots. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. When we bought firewood they delivered it to our site. There is only the one dumpster for your trash on the way out of the park. It's not that far of a walk, and chances are you will leave at some point during the day in the car anyway, so we just brought it down with us if we were leaving. Their laundry and restrooms are the cleanest I've ever seen. We didn't use the bathrooms, but did use the laundry. They even have two good sized folding tables to use. There is a small store that is stocked with some RV parts (which we needed) as well as the usual snacks, T-shirts, etc. They also offer UTV tours, have a pool (closed, we were there in February) playground for the kids, disc golf, basketball court and a horseshoe pit. We noticed that they spent time and money on several things that weren't necessary just make the park look nice, The gate itself is nice, they have logs cut out and made into flower boxes, and there is a small cabin looking shed that I believe serves no purpose other than to look homey. We had no problems with the WIFI, but admittedly, the park was not full. All but three of the sites are gravel, and they are working on expanding the park. This is a new park, and I see very good things for them if they continue with the amenities and the great attitude and helpfulness I saw. I would stay there again. PS Do NOT use your GPS for directions! Follow the directions on the website!! We camped at Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA in a Motorhome.

We are so glad that you came and stayed with us. We work hard to make sure that all our guests have the best time possible. We really like putting those extra touches to our campgrounds such as the large folding tables, the flowers in the tree trunks to make it feel special. We are in the process of inputting deluxe patio sites and other upgrades though out our park to keep improving it and making our park a real destination for those coming to visit our Smoky Mountains.

I read some of the other reviews. I don't know where a couple of them stayed. I read some reviews on another website, it helped me decide to give them a try. Glad I did. This place is great. Paved entrance and basketball court. Nice pool and play area. They have a great pet area all fenced in, they make sure all pets are kept on a leash at all times. The park is gated and the owner was almost always there. I spoke with him (very helpful) he is planning on Paving more this fall and making more improvements every year. I love this place. After having our planned Florida trip cancelled by the hurricane SMPRV Resort was able to fit us in. We had never been to the Gatlinburg area, but LOVE the NC side of the Smoky Mountains.

We had one of the best RV vacations we have ever had!! We were guided to our campsite, guided into the campsite, and the hospitality continued to get better throughout the week. What a great family ownership team, and staff!! Everyone had a smile and was looking to assist us in any & every way.

Most sites are grave. Not a lot of organized activities. Great ownership team & staff. Clean, private bathhouse.

We spent about half our time at the campsite and half our time looking at the sights & enjoying the towns of Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge. None of us wanted to leave when our week came to an end. We will DEFINITELY be back!!

Thank you smprv team!! We camped at Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA in a Motorhome.

We have just begun full time RVing so have little knowledge about the wide variety of places we could stay and the amenities or lack of them. Before staying here, we stayed at two pretty awful places, so we felt like we arrived at Shangrila when we got there. After the first day, I think we did. Everything was immaculate. The bath house provides about 10-12 private rooms with toilet, sink and shower. Laundry was clean, nice updated washers and dryers. Spaces were level and the staff was very helpful guiding us into our spot. All hookups worked well. Internet was fine and cable TV was also good. The staff was always there, very helpful and friendly. Spaces are a little tight, but enough room for your rig, tow vehicle, picnic table, chairs and fire pit. Would definitely go back. As we were leaving, the owner came running out of the office, whistling and hollering to get our attention. We thought something was wrong...he just wanted to say goodbye and thanks for staying with them. Nice! We camped at Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Be sure to verify your route to the interstate when leaving. Google Maps took us waaaaay wrong. Ended up on a mountain with crazy switchbacks and ran out of pavement. Told you we just began. Thankfully someone clued us in to the gravel road conditions ahead of us and we forged ahead, albeit with white knuckles. Even the dog was tuned in and watched the whole way, finally settling in when we hit the interstate.

The way to the campground (321) is a narrow, somewhat windy road, With trees close to the road edge.
The campground itself, is all gravel, dusty, and the sites are stair stepped, so you may not feel that they are that large, as there is a 2 foot drop to the site on one side you, and a 2 foot bank to the site on the other side of you. With our large rig, the picnic table, fire pit and our basement doors open, it was really tight for us. We were on site #50. We paid $66.00 for over night standard pull through site. There are trees on all the sites, and with our slide out, witch made it a little tight for us,. They do have super pull through sites, but they are 2 back to back sites that you can use as one long pull through. Thay are almost $80.00 per night, including tax.
The plusses to this park is that it is right at the Smokey Mountain National Park. It had a large mowed area just out side the campground that you could let your dog off lease as long as the listen, and come back to you. The office people were GREAT, pleasant, and helpful. The roads are adiquit, and they escort you to your site, and help you to park. If you want a quiet, Rustic park, that gives you the feeling of a state park with full hookups. This is the park. We did not use the bathroom, or laundry. We only stayed one night. Also DO NOT GPS THEIR ADDRESS. GOOGLE WILL TAKE YOU DOWN SMALL ROADS. The office told us that. We camped at Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA in a Motorhome.

Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry that you found our campground dusty, TN is in an extreme drought and we haven't had much rain so there is not much we can do about the dust. All dogs MUST be on leash unless inside our fenced in dog area and can't run free in the field. If you let your dog run free in the field its obvious that you broke some of our rules.

The owners are extremely nice & helpful. The park is very clean & quiet. While our site accommodated our 40' 5th wheel with 3 slideouts, there wasn't enough room to park our truck at our site. The internet where we were wasn't reliable at all. Very limited service at best. I have to work via the intnernet while I'm away from home for a couple of hours a day & had to end up using my data plan. This was very disappointing since we weren't allowed reserve using our Passport America. The fact that the park was very family oriented, we were a bit surprised that the music performed on Saturday was no much more than beer drinking songs. It was extremely loud & long especially for those parked close to the office. This is a relatively new park, so I feel sure the owners will do what they can to solve some of our issues. We camped at Gatlinburg East / Smoky Mountain KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We are sorry that you did not get the site that you wanted. We let everyone know that we can't guarantee any certain sites when the reservations are made. We do have two sites that are concrete but as you said most of our sites are gravel. We are putting down more concrete in the future in the main areas but not in the sites. The majority of our sites are larger then most in the area.
