This was our first visit to David Crockett State Park, and we will definitely return. The park is beautiful, the staff was friendly, and the sites were very nice in campground 2 where we stayed. There are several trails that, and they are marked by different colors. One has a tree down across it but the others we took were fine. The waterfall and the covered bridge were beautiful. We ate lunch at the restaurant one day and enjoyed it. If you eat pork skins, I highly recommend theirs with the beer cheese dip! Our only issue all weekend was that our water hookup had a bad leak that sprayed water everywhere. We told them about it, but they were short handed at the time and it never got fixed during our stay, which was only a few days. We camped at David Crockett State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the Amish in nearby Ethridge! We went early our first morning and stocked up on homemade treats for the weekend such as banana nut bread and fresh butter. You can pick up a map at the gas station in town, but all homes are clearly marked with signs at the end of the drive stating what they sell.

We were pleasantly surprised with the park and campground. We stayed in Campground 2, which as other reviewers pointed out was recently renovated. All of the roads were in great condition, and each campground site in our loop was concrete. Most appeared to be level with a few just slightly off. They were offset from each other to afford privacy. The bathhouses were clean and we had plenty of hot water in the showers. There is a restaurant that is open on weekends, and for lunches W-Th. A very quiet, nice, state park. We camped at David Crockett State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed in campground 2. Sites are paved but very small for big rigs. Fire pit was not cleaned and had so much debris we did not use. No cable, wifi and no OTA stations from site 90. Office staff was cordial and did accept a package for me. Restaurant is open on limited days and did not use. Swimming pool looked nice but was closed in the middle of August?? We camped at David Crockett State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful park and we enjoyed our time here. There are some nice hiking trails and a museum about Davy Crockett. We stayed in Site 77 in Campground 2, which was recently renovated. Our site was very level since it had retaining walls on two sides, but was so narrow that the fire ring was under the corner of our awning. I noticed that several other sites had this issue. There is only one dump station, and it’s in the exit lane of the campground, which is odd. We camped at David Crockett State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first time at this park and we really enjoyed it. We stayed at campground 2. The staff was very helpful and the camp host was very friendly. The updated bathhouse was very clean and well kept. Our site was very large, probably the largest in the campground. It went way back and would have been large enough for a few tents if we wanted. Our only problem was that there is no wifi and Verizon service is terrible. That's usually not that big of a deal, but we needed to see the weather forecast and could not. Major storms came in a few times and we were dependent upon friends and family members to send us a text warning ... that is, if we could get enough service for text messages. Also, there is only one dump station at campground 2 and it is in the traffic lane to leave the park. This could be a problem if several of us were leaving at the same time. Since the weather was bad, we didn't get to hit as many trails as we liked, but the ones we did hit were great. The museum is nice and very informative. We are likely to stay here again and recommend it to our friends. However, my recommendation would be to stay at campground 2. It is more forested and updated than campground 1. We camped at David Crockett State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We love camping in Tennessee and this campground did not dissapoint. It is very close to civilization but you wouldn't know it while you are there. Once you pull into the park you feel like you are out in the wilderness. Bathhouses were always clean and site was a good size. We stayed in campground 2 which has just been repaved. Beautiful trails to hike and a small waterfall to wade in. They even have a little museum all about Davy Crockett that you can visit. Fishing and swimming pool. We camped at David Crockett State Park in a Tent Trailer.

There are two campgrounds in this park. Campground 1 was closed during our visit. We stayed in Campground 2, which is about a mile into the park. The sites are heavily tree covered. We were lucky to find a very small hole in the cover for our portable dish to get satellite for DirectTV. The most notable thing about the campground is that almost all of the sites are very sloped. We were fortunate to get a site where we were able to level. Many RVs were not able to level in their sites. The sites are also narrow with crumbling asphalt pavement. There is decent spacing between sites, but no vegetation for visual privacy. The campground was full on the weekend, but it was pretty calm and quiet at night. Strange, even though it showed two to three bar Verizon, the speed for data was very, very slow. It came up a bit with our booster and outside antenna. The dump station is very strange; you will be blocking the one lane of the entrance road as you dump. There is also no place to hookup as you leave. We are not for sure why others rate this campground so highly. We stayed at this campground because of its proximity to the Natchez Trace; we would likely pass it by next time if passing through. We camped at David Crockett State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are some nice hiking trails in the park. The bike trail is doable but in pretty bad shape with roots deforming the pavement. There is a restaurant that is popular, although we did not eat there. Lawrenceburg, about five mails away, has a Kroger food store and a Walmart. It is also worth a visit to the nearby Amish community - ask at the park office.

The facilities are dated, but everything functioned just fine. The park itself is gorgeous. There is a huge, clean swimming pool. Some of the lots are on fairly steep hills, so if you have little kids, look at the pictures or call before you choose which lot. I give it a 7/10 strictly for how dated everything was. This park offers two campgrounds. Campground 1 with primitive sites & Campground 2 with larger RV sites. We stayed in Campground 2. Sites were larger, more spacious, but leveling was an issue at many sites. Took a little longer than normal to level on gravel/dirt site due to ruts. Reserved for a Monday/Tuesday stay and found the Visitor Center (staffing issue), Restaurant and Pool all closed. Only disappointed about the Visitor Center: shame on Tennessee for not having a contingency plan when Student Interns have to leave.

Shorts hikes were nice, and Crockett Falls was a great place to cool off on a hot afternoon. Outside the park, Lawrenceburg was quite a big town that had everything you could want or need.

The Amish Welcome Center should have been closed. Shame on them for luring tourists into what has to be an embarrassment to the Amish Community. It was a filthy, disgusting, junk shop with thrift shop items in it - yuck! We camped at David Crockett State Park in a Motorhome.

It was hard to get around some of the curves in the campground. Most of the sites were very short and unlevel. We had to work a long time to get set up. Trees were close on each side so getting awning and slide out was a challenge. It was quiet and dark which we like. Not sure about getting satellite reception as there are a lot of trees. We would have left the park if we had not been so tired. The park office closes 30 minutes before the official check-in time which is silly. We camped here in a 31 foot class C. Stopped for the night as a good midpoint to our next destination...beautiful park with deep woods, river and lake and even a covered bridge. Site was back in and fine though the water and electric were poorly positioned. Bring extensions if you go. Received a warm welcome from the ranger and campground host. Bathrooms not filthy but about what you'd expect in a public park. No wifi and poor cell signal but the beauty of the park was worth it. Town is within a mile or so and you can see the Davey Crockett statue and get anything you need in a full range of shopping stores including a Super Walmart. There were a couple of bigger coaches than us that had sites that accomodated them but everything is back in and many sites aren't capable for a 40 footer. Nonetheless...a great value in a pretty place. We camped at David Crockett State Park in a Motorhome.
