Among the dirtiest parks I've stayed in. Trail maintenance poor and litter all over the place. - Curmudgeon John

A bit too close. I stay at state parks to avoid the parking lot effect and am disappointed. Neighbors encroached on our site to make things more uncomfortable. - Castorbean

Great park for children. Basketball court, playground, swimming area, and hiking trails entertain the kids. Very quiet. - pwebbsr

We stayed at site 35, a premium waterfront. The sites have large gravel (not crushed gravel) which was not very pleasing for our dog's paws and for our feet for that matter. The roads are narrow and paved. The site had no shade and a partial view of the water. The shore was a steep drop off from the site. Trimming a few tree limbs, adding a few shade trees and replacing the current gravel with another type would make this site excellent. All of the premium sites do not have shade except for one. The campground has two small clean bathrooms without AC or fans which made them very uncomfortable. One shower, one stall (Mens) in each, for 36+/- sites, if you need to use them. The water pressure was extremely low for hand washing for both men and woman restrooms. The dumpsters were placed far away from the campsites and had deep ruts in the gravel around them. The sites are level, however most had a extreme drop off to access them. Sites have a fire ring, and a very nice concrete picnic table. Sites are far apart, and the park is very quiet. Expect to see owls, herons, deer, etc from your site. We will return but to a shaded level site. - Carl4350
May 2018 - $20.00
Waterfront sites are very level with a slight decline to the actual camping spot. Sites are high above the actual lakefront generating steep downgrade to the waterfront. Because of the steep grade walking to the lakefront to fish is tiring. The day use area has a nice swiming beach with easy access to and from. Very large boat launch area where several boats can launch at one time. The campground has several bathhouses that are an easy walk from your sites with clean and well maintained facilities. - Paythebill
Jul 2016 - $25.00
Management was super friendly and competent. Campground overlooked the lake and was beautiful. No easy access to water from campsite due to treeline and large rocks along bank. Great hidden gem! - Donna Gates

We stayed over the Memorial Day weekend (Thursday-Monday). We arrived LATE Thursday evening, the camp host was very helpful to find our site, guide us there after dark and help with leveling our camper. The site was nice, a bit steep, but close to the VERY clean bath house and excellent views of the lake. We tried to book our next stay but they are full until August. Good Cellphone service. The fire ring and grill are combined. The park staff was VERY friendly and helpful. We loved Loyston. Would love to have a dock to load and unload the boat. Ramp is very close and convenient. A no wake area would be nice also. - Novices
Oct 2015 - $27.00
Very well managed, clean campground. Not a "resort". On the cleanest lake in TN. Staff very helpful. Boat ramp nearby as are walking trails. Have what appears to be a well stocked store, but I was there in off season so they were scaling back some on supplies.
Some of the most friendly people I have ever met. Follow their directions to campground. Can be tricky. Boats are welcome and it looks like there is plenty of shore to tie up there. They have a beach area also. - wvbassmistress

Jun 2011 - $20.00
Our review of this park was a difficult one to write because the manager was extremely friendly. Her family owns the place but honestly this is only a hobby park. It was not well marked on the east ( exit 117 off of I-75N and turn right ) side of Raccoon Valley Road. Their park sign is almost non existent. Once in the park the gravel sites were only moderately level ( we needed boards to level). From our count there appeared to be only three 50 amp sites: the others were 30’s. They have one washer, one dryer and two complete restrooms, one of which is handicapped accessible, and one shade tree site but it’s not level. No Wi-Fi but our Verizon air card worked well. No trash cans so we put our full bags in the laundry area. We found, per the managers recommendation, a really good restaurant called Aubrey’s at Exit 112 on Conner Road. On the plus side, this campground was quite unlike the noisy campground on the other side of Exit 117 ( quarry trucks ). This is good as a stopover park but not much more unless some corrections are made such as Wi-Fi, re-level the sites, more 50 amp hookups and trashcans. Having said that, in our estimation it’s almost on a par with the very few surrounding campgrounds and this is in large part due to the very accommodating hostess. Our return to this park would depend on seeing what, if any, of the above suggested improvements get made. - 5thwheeler

A new RV park great for stop-overs or long term stays, just north of Knoxville. Just close enough to everything, but still has that country surroundings. The owners were friendly, the place was clean and neat. A great place for Vol's fans to park. - acresofitems

We didn't get a good impression of this park when we first drove in, but it turned out to be fine, once we got checked in and drove through the permanent resident area and got to our pull-through. The pull through's are plenty long and pretty well spaced. As far as I could tell, they are all concrete pads with gravel entry and exit drives. The exit drive on our site sloped down quite a bit and made it a little tricky to unhitch and hitch. Overall, a good experience. The staff and manager were friendly and helpful. We'd stay here again if in the area. - wntrtxn
Oct 2018 - $36.00
Small amount of trash on our site when we arrived. Permanent sites contained a lot of older dirty looking campers. I do not feel this campground is well supervised or maintained. Too many people LIVE there and go to work at 5 to 5:30 a.m. very noisily, plus road noise. Lots are mostly very small. Husband had to clean the shower before he got in. I suggest separate lots for nightly guests, not in with the permanent population. Won't return. - Cathy Van Horn

Stayed here during football weekend in Knoxville. Easy drive into Knoxville. WiFi was adequate during our stay. Lots of trees and tight spots. Park was quiet and friendly. Had to unhook towed vehicle. I was able to use satellite at site 92. Park had 8 washer and dryer units. - Betngreg

This is an easy on/off from I75. Entrance is wide but roads in the park are a bit narrow yet easy to navigate. Our site #28 was at the bottom of the campground with a creek behind it and a drainage ditch off to the driver's side. Meaning, when it rains as it did in buckets one day everything runs down and under your rig to the creek behind. Never flooded, but it was cause for some concern. The office staff is extremely polite and helpful. The campground is well taken care of and clean. The laundry is excellent. Our site was hard packed gravel, reasonably level, all utilities were conveniently located. Site separation was minimal. In our location there was absolutely no shade. OTA channels were good. Verizon phone/internet was good. Were we to stay here again I would ask for a pull through site in the section one through seventeen. We would stay here again. We camped here for a month in a motorhome. - William T
Sep 2018 - $27.00
No free wifi and no cable, but quite a few OTA TV channels. Our site, 45, was level front to back, but required 2 big boards on the "downhill side" to level. We couldn't use the 50 amp power because our cord wasn't long enough for their placement, so we added a 30 amp extension and got a refund for the difference. There are no discounts unless you are an Escapees Member. The site was barely long enough for our 40' fifth wheel and truck, but it looks like sites 31-34 would be the ones to reserve is possible. They close for lunch until 1:30 so we had to wait, but the staff was nice enough. This is an easy on/off I-75 about 11 miles north of Knoxville. Water pressure was good. Sites are fairly close, but there are some trees, just on the wrong side for shade at our site. The next site's water and electric was right outside our door. The place is pretty enough that we would probably return again, unless we found a better park nearby. This park had a slightly better rating than the one about half a mile away. Full hook up with a pull-through is the reason we stayed here. It said they had wifi, but there is a sign in the office that there is no free wifi. - Ginny H

So quiet...wonderful to get away here. Bathrooms were great, clean campgrounds, park employees drove around often to check on things. Many miles of trails to walk, run or hike around. Outlook points to the lake that you can take advantage of. Beautiful views. - ThePouncingCats

We've camped here several times and it has never disappointed us. Love the trails, the campfires, the quiet. The only negative comment is they could mow the grass around the campground more often. My wife got a tick either on a hike or at the campsite. - Alphonzo

Typical KOA. There are 3 kinds of sites 30, 50 and wide 50. We were in a 30. The 30 amp sites are narrow the 50's are better. Pool was closed. Personal friendly and the person we talked to was very knowledgeable about area. Gravel road and site. It's an okay park would stay again if in the area. - newbies2016
Sep 2018 - $50.00
We had to make our first repair on our little travel trailer as soon as we parked here--the cover for the fan in the ceiling of the bathroom had blown off somewhere along the drive. The KOA people very kindly let us borrow a ladder to get up there and see what was going on, gave us directions to the nearest RV supply store, and checked on us as we fixed it. We appreciated all their help! The sites were pretty close together and in mid-August, they were brutally hot. There's no shade in the center of the park, but the edges fare better. Everything we saw was very clean and well-maintained. The man who escorted us to our site was very friendly and helpful. The campground was an easy on/off from the interstate. - CaptainCurls

This is a nice little KOA. Huge pool with plenty of chairs and lounges, nice staff, good playground, and large grassy area. It was pretty quiet and easy in and out. While I could see RVs out of every window, none were so close that it was a problem. We found the entrance signage confusing. We had to go around a block and come back. - BethvanSteen
