One of the nicest KOA we have visited. Sites are nicely graveled and mostly level. Water pressure was good. Electricity steady. Road traffic behind our site slowed dramatically after 10 pm. Good spacing between sites. Pizza delivery to the office or pavilion by the pool. Giant boulders mark the ends of sites and roadways. Pool was squeaky clean and just he right temperature for a refreshing dip. Lovely pool area. Definitely put this one on our "return to " list! Only downfall was a HUGE bump when exiting the campground. Teeth-jarring for sure. - DebbieT in Alabama

This was an overnight stay. The road to the campground and the roads within the campground were curvy. The campground had some rocks for ornamentation that made it necessary to pay particular attention when driving through. Oddly, the rules said "no laundry allowed" because of their septic system but they had a laundry room. Not sure why an RV washer would be worse? Overall, the campground was quiet and peaceful in a wooded setting. We would stay again. - lce3
Mar 2019 - $40.00
Very convenient stop off of I-75 north of Chattanooga. Well maintained grounds; clean facilities. Fair number of pull-through sites. Mix of full hook-up, E/W, and E-only sites. Cable TV, dog park, laundry room, Lp-fill station, pool, etc. much appreciated amenities. Definitely bring leveling blocks, as some of the spots are more challenging than others. Dump station is in an odd location in one of the camping loops that could be hard for a large rig to turn into. - aowcarol

We stayed here for a week & were the only campers except for weekend. We loved the quiet! Staff is very kind! Only water & electric hookup but dump station easily accessible. There is a bar in the campground with live outdoor music when weather is good but they were very respectful & shut down before midnight. No complaints! Would definitely recommend & stay here again. - User3782
May 2017 - $25.00
We stayed here to go rafting, but otherwise could not recommend. All RV sites are exposed to road noise, the property was badly maintained, with very unlevel sites, potholed gravel roads, muddy parking, grass up to our knees, lots of ticks, and a surly property manager. - procamper
Jul 2011 - $25.00
This park is geared toward river activities. They have many tent sites and 9 or 10 RV sites. I was allowed to reserve a site but selection is first come first serve. Most RV sites are shaded. There was a band that performed on Friday night. Quiet hours start at 12 midnight. The website and rules state that all dogs must be on a leash. This is the only rule that was not followed. We were frequently visited by doggies wandering around the campground. Our site was very roomy. We had plenty of space for chairs and friends and dog runs. RV sites have electric and water and a fire ring. - GeorgiaGirl
Aug 2018 - $35.00
Cash only, no credit cards. Poor interior roads, unlevel site, barely there cell service. Sitting on a bluff over the river so the view isn't much either. Junky trailers all over. Just another overpriced rundown campground. Nothing nearby that we saw. Good for an overnight if not overpriced. - User2063
May 2017 - $59.00
Wi-Fi does not work. Very few pull through sites. Overpriced for its location and services. - Geno1986
Jun 2014 - $34.00
The view is lovely, but we will not be returning. This campground is not family friendly. We were supposed to have a two night stay but after returning from our rafting trip we were told to leave without refund because our dog was barking from inside the camper. We asked around and most campers said the dog was not a problem. We had done all requested of us including providing shot records but had the distinct feeling we were not welcome from the time we arrived when the campground manager suggested we tranquilize our pet because she did not seem happy. We have taken her camping a lot and have never had a problem before. The campsite was small; so was the bath house. I think this is geared for local use not for travelers. - munrofamily
Aug 2012 - $15.00
Located in the Chilhowee Recreation Area, Chilhowee Campground offers electric hookups, RV sites, tent only sites and multiple bathhouses. The campground is open from early April to late October, with an overflow area and day use area open year-round. 7-acre McKamy Lake offers a swim area with a sand beach and fishing from the bank. Boats are allowed, but gasoline motors are not. Also, within the recreation area are approximately 25 miles of hiking and biking trails and a scenic waterfall. On the drive up to the campground, stop at one of the many observation overlooks to see beautiful mountain settings. Wildlife is abundant in this area, so have your camera ready and tread lightly. Be aware, the drive up from US-64 is steep and while beautiful, is tough. It is 7 miles from the route to the campground. We were only overnight, so this was a bit inconvenient. Campground is beautiful, lots of woods and nature, including bear. Be wary with pets and having food outside. There are NO water hookups at the sites, though pipes are around and you could fill up your tank. Gave it an 8 because of tough drive to get there, poor directions into campground itself, and lack of other amenities. However, if you wanted to get away and enjoy nature, this would be an excellent spot to spend a few days or a week and swim, hike, and relax. - Too-wow
May 2019 - $12.00
Great camp host. In the middle of Ocoee River and Lake with lots to do if your adventurous. - Curt Bowen
Apr 2018 - $15.00
Nice, out of the way, intimate park. Most of the sites can handle 25-30foot rigs, and a few would handle 45 foot Kong's with pulls vehicles. Most were level. Only 3 spaces were near the road, so road noise was minimal. - Don Self
Oct 2016 - $15.00
Small, intimate campground, conveniently located near many activities on the Ocoee and Hiwassee Rivers. No water at the sites, but plently of spigots around the campground; fill your fresh water tank before setting up. About half the sites can reach a water spigot with a 100' hose. This CG is in a valley not far off of Hwy 64. Beautiful old growth trees and a creek running behind some of the sites (see map). This is a "rustic" CG for those who love the woods. Sites are generously spaced. Take firewood with you - the ground around the CG is pretty well picked over. Sites are generally level and spacious, although the CG road is a little narrow. Some sites require a little more proficiency in backing in because of this. One bath house for the CG. It was clean, however, maintenance was a little behind. The day we left was the third day without toilet paper in either the men's or women's side. I would have rated it higher if not for this. The dump station is on a slope which prevents complete draining of tanks. There is no over-the air TV reception; satellite is spotty because of a thick canopy of trees. All-in-all, a very nice CG, I will definitely return. - Bama Camper
May 2019 - $35.00
Clean campground with four large camping areas. We stayed in Area C in site #19 and our site was nearly level. We walked or drive though the other three camping areas just to see those conditions. Most sites are small to medium in size and most are close together and some looked difficult to access. We noticed a number of sites that were not very level and watched some campers work hard to get their rigs set-up. No sewer service but there is a dump station near the camp office. - CroweTravels
May 2019 - $20.00
Harrison Bay SP has 4 camping areas. We were in section C. Our site was somewhat level, with shade and on the corner so not too close to our neighbor. Some sites were very close to each other. Our site was on the entrance to the loop near the main road so during the weekend there was quite a bit of traffic going down to the lake. It appeared all campsites are walking distance to the lake. The lakeside sites in section C are very nice but there are only 5 of them. The pool will open Memorial Day weekend and is large with also has a kiddie pool. There are 3 hiking trails, two under a mile and a 4.5 mile lake trail. We found many ticks on the dog after the hike so beware. Area C has 4 private bathrooms for 40 campers. The shower heads in the shower do not move so they are very close to the wall. Bathrooms were clean even on a busy weekend. TV reception was good and we got many stations and complimentary WiFi was a plus. - MarcyB
Jan 2019 - $35.00
Use to be a great park until they decided to redo campsites and making them less attractive and the restrooms are designed without thinking about campers. The restrooms are designed where an individual shower and commode are together and and that they are only six restrooms available for a section that has 40 sites so their is going to what to a wait especially is people are taking showers. - Halloweenguy
Dec 2017 - $28.00
Some of the interior roads are not big rig friendly. Last year we drove through 1 of the areas on the island that were pull through...they must only be for small campers and tents. We had to remove our ladder to squeeze past a tree. This time we knew where to go! Right on the lake, quiet & peaceful in the winter. We only saw 1 other camper in the area. The rest seem to gravitate towards the area by the entrance. Nice big playgrounds. Con is there's no sewer and some spots are uneven. - Ontheroamagain
Nov 2017 - $30.00
PROS: Beautiful lake. CONS: Excessive slope. High-crime? - Not friendly. Huge park. Not one park employee or camper said "hello". Glass window and cop car at entrance made it seem like a high-crime area. - Website said site 183 could accommodate a 57 foot motorhome. The site could barely handle a pop-up trailer. Our motorhome is 34 feet. Utilities too far away; had to extend our electric cable. - Excessive slope. We could have broken our necks getting out of the rig. - Website should be updated to show which sites are sloped before laying out 100+ dollars. - tdrager
Oct 2017 - $30.00
Great campground with numerous lakefront campsites! Pros - level sites, fishing, water activities, great scenery Cons - Not full hookup, A bit crowded and close sites, checkout is noon. - RandyP
Aug 2016 - $45.00
Stayed 2 nights to fish the Hiawassee. The manager was really nice but the park needs a lot of work and a good cleanup. It is apparently just out of bankruptcy after 5 years. Also now known as Eagle Cove RV park now to clear up that confusion. Trash is my pet peeve with cigarette butts at the top of the list! Lots of those around, dead bugs in the bathrooms, broken picnic table, trash in the fire ring, dead landscaping, fields that needed mowing......etc. No cable and unlevel sites for $45 per night was just poor value. The park did get WiFi the day we arrived but you had to go up to the bathrooms to connect. They did not take credit cards as well. Lots of upgrades in the future plans according to Jim. Great potential with a beautiful location. ...... - Blowfishqueen
Apr 2016 - $30.00
Before peak season, this park was a hidden gem. We were there in April, and the park had only two other rigs during the week, with a few more on weekends.
The park backs up to a large undulating feild, bordered by the Hiwassee River. Mountains are picturesque in the distance. There is a lot of green space.
Pull through sites were level on our end, (site 35), but a bit steep further along. All other sites appeared reasonably level. Utilities were fine. Wi-fi at the lodge was spectacular. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating.
We stayed an additional week, and will return next year if possible. - Sheryl E
Nov 2014 - $36.00
NO WIFI, rock road had lots of potholes that showed a lack of R&M. Bathhouse looked nice and clean, but we didn't use it.
Beware of the turn off the highway into the CG; it's hard dropoff that can/will scrape the under-carriage. Likewise for entering hi-way from the CG. - Rick and Sandy
