Dec 2019 - $1.00
Another Thousand Trails Campground that needs some updating. We arrived and were told to drive around and find a site to park on. This is one of the things I hate doing after a long day driving to a campground. Having to weed through all the sites that are not in service is members should have to do. Just give me a site or a few that will work for me to choose from, that's all I'm asking. We did manage to find a site in the R loop. The site was really long and while it looked level it had a weird slope that made it difficult to level our motorhome. The main reason we came to this campground was for my girlfriend to see the deer. And we did see lots and lots of deer. If wildlife is your thing you won't be disappointed with the number of deer that are around here. - RLKeller
Nov 2019 - $1.00
I am a thousand trails member, so stayed here at no additional cost, but I did pay $3k for a membership and yearly dues and expect basic maintenance. The staff is exceptionally lazy and do not do basic maintenance- trimming trees and filling potholes. We were lucky and got one of the few sites (R44) with working electric (30) and sewer, but we had a tire swallowing pothole. I understand the electric issues would be expensive to fix, approx 50% not working, but trimming the trees is not. There was a approx 6 ft hole by the playground by pool that took several days for staff to cover with a board so children didn't fall in. Laundry room was closed for at least 4 days (still closed when I left) because coin holder was full. Laundry room did not looked cleaned in quite a while. Hot tub closed for 21 day stay, pool closed for at least 14. Extremely rude to families. Charge $5 per box delivered so be careful to select option with amazon to ship in fewer shipments. Also not sure if park can do anything about this but tons of very aggressive yellow-jackets, husband stung twice. - Shawna Bostick
Dec 2018 - $1.00
I will never stay here again...... I am very disappointed with this experience. The first night we were to check in the ranger was not at the station and we waited outside the gates for almost two hours in the cold for someone to check us in!!! I had called ahead that day and so they knew we would be arriving at 9:15pm (their website instructs you to do this if your arrival will be after 8pm). They knew we were coming and still they left us stranded. We ended up spending our first night outside the gates in their parking lot. This was the beginning of a trend of disappointment with our stay at Medina Lake. We were faced with new frustrations everyday we stayed here (total of 1 week). They charge you for receiving packages and if you use USPS they will turn the delivery man away at the door and you will need to drive over 20 min to the nearest post office to receive your package. Also, they will not accommodate you in any way should you need help understanding their many hidden and unrealistic rules. You also should not leave the premises is you are not a thousand trails member!! Be warned it is extremely difficult to get back to your campsite once you drive off the location. They also will interrogate you upon your return when you ask them to lift the gate for you. All in all I was very sad with this stay as I was excited to feed the deer and kayak on their lake. I would say those are the only two good things. I wish I could write a better review...... it is beautiful scenery and the deer that just walk up to you are amazing. The staff really need lessons in hospitality and accommodating their guests. - LEB3202015
Oct 2017 - $10.00
First I will say: This is a beautiful setting and a really nice RV park with good facilities. Our rate was based on a month. It is located about 18 miles south of Kerrville and 8 miles north of Medina.
However, we would suggest not coming in from the north. Pulling your RV down highway 16 rom Kerrville would be a challenge, especially for a big rig. It is one curvy, hilly road! We intentionally went out of our way to come in from the south, and were glad we did. Would go so far as to say, driving thru the Rockies wasn't any worse.
A negative to some/positive for others: no cell service and no Verizon mifi service. The park does have free wifi and it is about the best I have ever found in any rv park. My phone and Consumer Cellular service does not have wifi calling capabilities, which is what is needed for most visitors. We were here a month and found not having cell phone service a little inconvenient. Cable tv was fine.
Another thing that is a neg/pos: those same curvy/hilly roads are loved by motorcyclists. Many stay in the very nice cabins that the park has to rent. Nothing against cyclists, but be ready to hear them coming and going at all hours. They don't think about the "quiet" time of 10pm to 8am.
If not for these 2 things, I would give this park a resounding 10. The staff are super nice. They have a restaurant, the Koyote Grill, which has great burgers and pizza, and on Fridays a fish/chic tender buffet that was excellent. The camp store sells basics.
Roadways in the park are very adequate. The sites are level, long and wide with packed gravel, concrete patios, picnic table, fire-ring. There is parking space for an extra car. Good utility hookups. Great dog area. Beautiful walking/hiking trails and one of the prettiest pool and patio areas I have seen. So, even with the little inconvenience and bike noise, we like this park and would go back. - JudynJoe
Sep 2017 - $59.00
We had a great time here Medina Highpoint. My wife and our 8 year old son spent Labor Day Weekend as guests this year. The staff is fantastic along with a good rotation of live music and food options at the restaurant. Outdoor music stage with tables and a view that is intoxicating. Spacious park and the RV portion was nice. Stayed in pull through with all the necessary hookups. Could use some more shade trees, but view all around is the trade-off. We spent a lot of time at the pool and hiked to the two observation decks. Killer views! We'll be back & the only reason for the 9 and not 10 stars, is to leave room to keep getting better:).Wi-Fi is weak out here, which if you plan to be outdoors the whole time is great, but i needed to do some work while there and had a hard time getting a very strong Wi-Fi signal and there is zero phone service out where so know that ahead of time, so you are not surprised. Manager and the staff are all awesome! Thanks for a great long weekend! We'll be back! - cbpierce69
Jul 2016 - $13.00
Stayed for the first time last week in site for back-in against the hill.
The views are tremendous and wildlife galore. In the morning, watching the herds of deer walking through the park was fantastic. Beautiful area to take lots of dog walks. The Friday night catfish dinner good, but the cook got sick and apparently not much of a back up system in place for this. So we made the 60 minute round-trip drive to Bandera and bought our barbeque provisions for Saturday night dinner. At outdoor music area/stage, in the heat of dusk, employee poured a lot of gas on the open fire-pit (by the stage) and lit it----needless to say it was smoky, nauseating and we had to move. Infinity pool was packed with big family groups and pretty dirty, but refreshing. Would like to try this place in cooler weather, because very little shade where most RVs park.
There is minimal cell coverage at this park, but staff will get a message to you from their toll-free #, if necessary. Manager and office staff great! - ALively
Jun 2017 - $40.00
Spent 6 days here. Clean RV Park. Asphalt Roads with Concrete Pads. Good location for all utilities. Some permanent residents. 27 RV Sites. Lots of space between sites. Part of Twin Elm Guest Ranch, so access to swimming, games, campfires and Medina River are included. Hayrides, Horseback riding, and tubing carry additional charges. If in the area, we would stay here again. CAUTION...There are 3 entrances, USE the 3rd Entrance for RV. You don't want to try the first two. - Liteman
Nov 2013 - $8.00
This is a real dude ranch type of experience! We enjoyed the fact that the location keeps us in civilization but is fun for the family to feel like we are authentically going back in time. - rvhoustonlady2014
Nov 2011 - $35.00
We spent Nov through March 2011-12 at 2E RV Guest Ranch Resort. The permanent rv'ers there were some of the nicest people you could meet. The permanent sites are well cared for and landscaped by the residents and are a real bonus for this rv park. The management/owners are another matter. Rent started at $185 for Nov and Immediately went up to $225 for Dec. The washers and dryers did not work on credit cards (the wireless required to authorize did not always function). When Campers asked for it to be made a coin laundry, the price went up and water levels in the small washers were lowered, dryer time reduced as well as heat. Price for electricity started at .12 a killowatt hr and was increased to .15--a 25% increase. Before we left in March, rent went up to $250 and now is $275. Grass is not mowed on a regular basis and many times the rv'er's mow their own and help their neighbors by mowing. Some showers have no curtains, showers and clubroom not cleaned regularly. As much as we liked the other rv'ers, we will not be back to a rv park that is managed in this manner. - PurpleSpringer
Jun 2019 - $50.00
The only negative about the park for me was that the RV sites that we stayed in were not level and the trees needed trimming. We originally had reservations for site 419 but had difficulty pulling into that site and once parked the tree limbs were in contact with the Motorhome. Forget about opening your awning for some shade cause there's not enough room. Went up to the office to ask if someone could trim back tree limbs and because it was late afternoon she said that it would be the next day before someone could show up to cut back limbs. Asked if we could move to another site and she said yes but still the new site was tight and unlevel and still could not open up awning. We made the most of the 4 days there even though we were not level and could not use the awnings. Park has a lot of potential to be a much better park than what it is. It has a gorgeous lodge with nice pool and cabins. Road coming into park is a little rough and could use some work but my main concern as a motorhome owner is level parking and no contact from tree limbs. Staff was courteous and kind and helpful. - DonGott
Oct 2018 - $49.00
Antler Oaks Lodge is the hidden gem of Bandera! It is situated just outside of town, surrounded by beautiful scenery and river access with a swimming hole and excellent fishing. The owners are constantly maintaining the roads, spaces and property. The spaces are very generous and flat, unlike other parks nearby that cram you in like sardines. They also have myriad activities on weekends and holidays, including hayrides to visit their exotic animals, scavenger hunts, movie nights and bingo. This is one of the nicest RV parks we have ever stayed in our 6 years of glamping and we look forward to coming back! - -LivingTheDream-
Mar 2018 - $35.00
We stayed with a group of Airstreamers. The road in is pretty rough, but it is fine. It made sure that no one is speeding through the area. Check in was extremely easy and the woman at the front desk was friendly.
The Antler Oaks Lodge is beautiful! It also had a library and games to play. I believe that Saturday includes a movie night with popcorn at the lodge.
Bathrooms are clean. Hiking down to the river was nice (there is a nice river access) and nice paths around the property. Antler Oaks is nicely away from the road, but still so close to town where there is plenty to do.
When we were packing up to leave, there was a bunch of (actual) turkeys making noise - so cool. We will stay here again. - timbers
Dec 2018 - $10.00
We have been here since December and love it! We have even extended our stay by 2 months. Our neighbors are social and pleasant. The long term residents around our spot have invited us to the local ranches for day outings, BBQ's and fishing trips. The new owners have gone above and beyond. They helped us level our rig when we arrived, made us a quick outside patio, took us to a local guitar picking circle and even worked on our motorcycle. The park is a rustic setting shaded by pecan trees, complete with horse corrals and passing deer in the evening. Trails lead to a clear winding river to walk and explore, not mention kayak. Historic downtown Bandera is less than 2 minutes away, with food, shopping and night life, including the Famous Arkey Blues' Silver Dollar. We have high speed internet for a small fee and it has been exceptional. We are planning to snowbird here again next year. Monthly rate $275 Adult only RV Park. - boymeetsgirlmeetsroad
Mar 2016 - $10.00
We booked a 4 night stay at this park. When we arrived we paid for the 4 days at the PA rate of $10 a day. They said we would have to go into the new section because our 5th was too large for the old section. Our fiver is 32' long. We paid and went to our site (41). It would appear that all the trailers in this park are permanent or seasonal residents. Our site was so small and with so many trees around it that only a Smart car with cart could have backed into that spot. We went back to the office and told them we could not fit into any of the available sites (many were so uneven that you would never be able to level any RV). I would not recommend this park to anyone. The only positive about this park was the girl at the cash and the refunding of our money. - Kemptvillekids
Feb 2016 - $30.00
This park has new owners who completely cleaned out all of the old permanent and semi-permanent guests. Every site is open to nightly or weekly guests. This is not a workers campground it is a travelers campground. It is clean and is easy to get in and out of. Great for one or two nights with a friendly old host and a nightly security gate. - Kwanah
Jan 2015 - $30.00
Small but organized park that accepts drive up campers late at night. Even with dirt roads it was easy access and easy to maneuver. Management was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Because it was after dark we were allowed to pick a site and the site required no extra leveling. Would definitely stay there again. We were in transit but did stay 2 nights rather than the 1 night planned. - witchey1
Feb 2012 - $18.00
The rate reflects the PA Rate for a Big Rig Site. This rate is all that the park should be charging as they have no washrooms (sign on door says RVs should have their own and with high cost of propane they are closed effective June 2011), no Wi-Fi (changed their policy so available only for permanent residents), no amenities of any kind, and a Laundry that is pretty poor with 3 very old washers and only 1 working dryer. There were only about 8 other RVs and all but one was a permanent unit. The office is not staffed and to register you have to pick up the red phone at the door which connects you to the resident manager who lives in one of the permanent units. I made a reservation ahead, and when arrived and phoned the manager she said to just go to my assigned site (#13) and she would register me later. Little did I know that later meant the next day in the afternoon! If you are looking for just an overnight site or for a couple of nights and are totally self contained and don't need to use their laundry then for $18 ($15 PA rate for regular site) not a bad place to stay. The Big Rig sites are very long pull throughs which are easy to get into and out of and reasonably level. There is some road noise during the day but at night it is very quiet despite being located on highway 16. - User1203
Feb 2019 - $10.00
Pioneer is a well maintained park with awesome managers and friendly helpful staff. It is conveniently located within walking distance to shopping and entertainment, and a short drive to visit Kerrville , Boerne or Fredericksburg . Nightly rate was based on a one month stay. - Jan Griff
Jul 2018 - $33.00
Very nice place to stay within walking distance to main part of town. Employees were very nice to work with. Have stayed there before and would stay there again. - Lee and Patti
May 2018 - $33.00
Very nice & convenient park in a fun town!! - bonniesoo
May 2017 - $8.00
We stayed for an extended period over the summer and part of fall and left our toyhauler there when we came home. It was safe and looked after while we were gone. The park was very nice and peaceful. Everyone was very nice. The laundry room was kept neat and clean. There was a dog area for our dog to run and play. Close to town. The only thing I didn't like was the Wi-Fi. Would stay again. - GypsyRC67
Nov 2016 - $35.00
We loved this park. It was during Thanksgiving and were invited for meal provided by owners of camp ground. They were super helpful. Wasn't crowed. Our site was nice, semi private, with tree in front of camper. The RV park is very clean. It was quite but a little traffic nose during the day. Walking distance to town to shop!! Restrooms were very clean with homey feel. - Chuck and Teresa
Mar 2013 - $20.00
This is an older park that has had few upgrades. The restrooms are old and the washing machines and dryers just are awful! It's in an ideal location and most sites are large, but overall it's a dusty park since the roads and sites are not paved. The current, not so friendly manager, does not take into consideration where she parks the rigs. She put our friends into a 30 amp site and they needed 50 amp. A lot of "bikers" were staying in the park and the loud music and their partying was disturbing! We've stayed in other parks that allowed motorcycles, but they had rules that asked everyone to respect their neighbor. They only cared about filling the sites and not caring about the ramifications that others had to content with. This could be an excellent park but needs a bit of TLC! - Travelin' about
Nov 2018 - $13.00
Just a clean, quiet little park with wonderful views of the Texas Hill Country. Lots of shade trees and level, pull through slots. All hookups worked as they should. A GREAT bargain. Owner is super helpful and guides you in as you come into the park. Deer run all over the place if you like critters. Few of the amenities of a resort. The wi-fi works pretty well, water pressure is good and the well water is clean and soft. OTA TV is not great; 2 broadcast channels plus a few others. Lots of room to park. Spots are level, gravel and lots of room with picnic tables. Nice place to spend the weekend and easy to get into Bandera which has plenty of tourist stuff and lots of good restaurants. - wiredgeorge
May 2018 - $18.00
This is our second time at this park and loved it even more than the last time we were here. Owner is friendly and attentive. Fed the deer every night and loved the country atmosphere. Very quiet and just enough away from town. Will definitely stay here again. - S Dowdy
Mar 2018 - $27.00
We stayed here for a week with the upcoming bike rally we wanted to attend. It’s out of the way from town very quiet area. The owner was very helpful even when I got lost . When we arrived she was waiting at the entrance to wave us to our site. Yes its a small park with no real extras. All of the guests were real nice and friendly telling us what to do and look for. This place is somewhat central located to get to larger towns if needed. Great motorcycle riding area close enough to do twisted sister’s Hill country in Texas. t is a great place to visit. I have no problem staying here again. - william1996
Dec 2019 - $12.00
Stayed here one month and a couple days and had very nice time and were welcomed in to the group for happy hour, bean bags, and Thanks Giving celebration. Met a lot of very nice people that helped us out when the truck was in the shop. Sites are all gravel with the majority of them pull thrus. Our site was level with no additional leveling needed. Electric pedestal, water and sewer drop were placed well in the site. Cable TV included. Our site was a little short but we made do. You can receive mail and packages here and they sell ice. Office staff friendly and helpful. Now having said all that a couple negatives. Do not park or drive motorcycles, golf carts, or put yard mats even two inches on the grass. You will be spoken to about it. Also daughter used the cabin and wanted to shower but the workamper started cleaning the bathrooms at 8:00 AM. Not real convenient. But to sum up the positives really outweigh the two negs that we had. We would definitely return here to be with the nice folks that we met and interacted with. - xarmoreddriver
Jun 2019 - $30.00
We have stayed here several times over the years and always enjoy the camp ground and the city. Lots of space between the sites, big rig easy to get around, dirt sites are basically level. Only comment, the campground sign off the highway is easy to miss if you are not looking for it. They have a nice large conference room our group used while there. - Ilovemyholidayrambler
May 2019 - $28.00
Nice quiet park. Large campsites, most have shade. Overall very pleasant. - txbandb
