Very nice city of Highland Village campground. Right on Lake Lewisville with boat ramp picnic areas etc. 30/50 amp and water mostly backin gravel sites. Fire pits, grills and tables at all sites, many directly on the lake. There is a dump station though in an awkward place from the campsites. Best to dump and then hook up toad. Longer motorhomes may have some trouble getting level but there are several level sites. Gate locks early but you have an access code. It is an oasis right in the middle of the city, but you would never know it. Would get higher rating with sewer of course. - teepee51
Jul 2018 - $35.00
Very friendly employees. Park is clean and located right on Lake Lewisville. Majority of sites are shaded at least part of the day. Many sites back up to the lake with plenty of space between sites. Plenty of grass to enjoy. Major stores within a few miles. This is a city run park. To make a reservation you have to get an ID and PW from the city web site. Camping rate for city resident is $25.00, non-resident $35.00, but if you are a senior you get a discount but you have to ask for it when you check-in and they will reimburse your account. - 1texan
Dec 2016 - $24.00
Campground has beautiful gravel sites. Another camper told us that last year this entire peninsula was under water and therefore they have had to rebuild all the sites. The sites are built up with large 8x8 timbers outlining the sites and holding in the gravel. It appeared that each site had a picnic table, grill, and fire ring. There were a few pull through sites in the middle. Though the road in the campground is narrow, we did not have problems navigating it with our 43' motorhome, nor did we have problems with branches attacking the roof as another reviewer indicated. There was a limb overhanging near the entrance of site 45 that we were careful to avoid when backing in and when leaving the site.
Note that you may not want to overhang the 8x8 timbers if you are going to air-level your motorhome - ours would have tried to sit the tow bar down on top of the timber if we hadn't made sure that we were far enough forward of the timber before leveling. - pattic777

Great park. You don't expect a city-run RV park to be so full of activities and run like a 5-star park. This one is all that with a heaping helping of some of the nicest park staff you'll ever be pleased to meet. Scenery is beautiful; spots next to the woods and trails, as well as spots on the water. Beautiful walking trails that we thoroughly enjoyed. Paved roads throughout. Safe and secure; gate is digital keypad locked after hours. Showers/baths were spotless. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Only downside was no WiFi, but that's coming. Picnic tables were covered - haven't seen that before! - Dobiedaddy
Mar 2018 - $36.00
The park was centrally located to our family. It was a little tricky getting to the park but after that the site was very long and convenient. Would stay there again. The only bathrooms were a very long way from the campsites. Were across the street from cabins at the park. They were not very clean and had a funky smell. Better rely on your GPS to get you there, not easy to find but well worth it once in the park. - chiliman_72
Mar 2018 - $41.00
Easy, friendly checkin/checkout. There is a gate far from the office, but you can call ahead or use intercom for the code. we stayed in one of the sites that are 40 feet from the water, numerous Canadian geese, ducks, and cranes were hanging around on the shore nearby. We stayed midweek when there were only 4 other sites occupied, so it was very quiet, and very clean. This new park's massive investment in infrastructure, trees, cabins and concrete pads is impressive. It's in the beautiful rolling hills area on the north side of Grapevine Lake. And there is a small number of rv sites total, which we prefer. - Mark and Bekah

Jul 2018 - $14.00
We booked 7 days and end up staying 9. Awesome campground with great site , walking trails , biking and boating. The water was warm and great sunsets. My only complaint is not enough 50amp and no sewer at the sites. They only have one dump station for 124 site. Even with that the wait time was not bad. The staff where helpful and friendly. - Betty Perez
Jul 2018 - $15.00
Could not get a pull through, but site was large enough that I could back in my toad and motorhome. The road to get in was very rough and unpaved in parts because of construction. - The Hughes
Jun 2018 - $15.00
We came in mid week without a reservation, but we had checked that morning and had a list of available 50 amp sites open for 3 days. The wonderful women working at the entrance booth recommended site 87 to us and it was a fantastic lakeside site. We had a great breeze off the lake and could actually sit outside during the day. Temps were hitting 97 during our stay. Like many COE campgrounds, the sites vary big time. Check details on the reservation site (which does not describe grade) so a partial A list for MH's are 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 26, 34, 48, 52, 60, 74, 79, 83, 85, 87, 88, 89, 97 & 99. Some B sites that will also work are 1, 3, 28, 29, 37, 43, 47, 50, 51, 54, 55, 64, 65, 81, 82 & 90. Smaller and towed units have much more options. OTA TV and Verizon were both very good. - Bob and Inga

Jul 2013 - $30.00
I pulled into this RV park late in the day in order to avoid an approaching storm. It is conveniently located just off I35W. While it did have nice long, level concrete pull-through sites, the lack of WiFi was a big disappointment for me. There are also a lot of long-term residents in the park, and some of their sites could definitely be a little neater. Lack of restrooms and showers may be a factor to some. I would only likely stop here again if there were no other options. - Phaeton40AH
Dec 2011 - $30.00
This RV park is easy on and off of I-35W but that's the best thing I can say. There's no Wi-Fi, no picnic tables, no showers/restrooms, no laundry and the sites are very tight. Most of the tenants appear to be construction workers, so you can expect lots of diesel pickup truck traffic through the park. This is the only RV park I've ever seen with a 20 mph speed limit, and still no one obeys it. - RockyandBullwinkle

Jan 2019 - $18.00
We have stayed at Destiny RV Park many times in the past and look forward to returning. However, the owner has decided to change the park to "Long-term only". What this means is that nightly or weekly spaces will only be available if available on day of arrival. However, if one needs a space for a month or more, this is the place to call and either get on the waiting list or find a space. This is still a very nice park that provides easy access to north Texas, Dallas, and Fort Worth. The nightly above is prorated from the monthly rate. We will, and are looking forward to, returning to Destiny RV Park again. - geo-gypsy

Unlevel lots, hard to navigate with larger rigs. Confusing entry. Near I-35, Very few spaces for traveling rigs. Poor, haughty service. Would not stay here again. - DustyBob
Apr 2018 - $33.00
This park is quite old and has a lot of long-term residents but the staff more than make up for any shortcomings. They are wonderful. Very helpful and welcoming. The weather turned unusually cold so we didn't go to the race track as much as we would have. Everything you could need just down the freeway. The car wash out front is a nice touch when you come off the road. - Danelon

Dec 2018 - $59.00
We booked this stay based on the Good Sam rating of 10/10/10. Having visited many other 10/10/10 parks, we were very disappointed. The park obviously hasn't been rated in years. This is nothing more than a trailer park with 98% long-term residents. There are tremendously huge speed bumps that we took very slowly, yet they still managed to knock our refrigerator out of its space. The trash is a site by site pickup from Waste Management (just like a mobile home park - think "beep beep beep" early in the morning). Many of the sites are highly unlevel and not appropriate for large motorhomes. Fortunately, they did accommodate us with a level site. All sites are back-in, no pull thrus are available. This park is 100% pre-pay in advance, regardless of when you make the reservation. We encountered two work campers during our stay: one was nice, the other arrogant and rude. With all the negatives of the park, the nearly foot tall speed bumps make this a "one and done" for us. - dad2aprincess
Aug 2018 - $54.00
This is a large, older well managed park. Probably 90% permanent residents and 10% open for mobile RV use. Our site was on a large circle (back in), plenty of room, great patio (no table), really nice grass and tree which gave a little shade to the back of our RV. Swimming pool at front of park and not within walking distance. A large trash container on our site. No easy access and GPS will guide you down a ridiculous semi used road...use exit 70 off 114 and then Dale Earnhardt Way. If I ding this park it would be for the insane overuse of speed bumps! Truly the worst speed bumps in an RV park ever....ugh! - Jackie thornton
Jun 2018 - $50.00
This is a very nice, quiet, well-maintained RV park located less than a mile from I-35W and within visiting distance of Fort Worth (about 20 miles away). Staff was friendly and helpful. Streets are paved and wide enough but watch out for the very high and unmarked speed bumps. Sites are all back-in, gravel, FHU, and with an open grass area behind them. Some sites are spacious and some are quite close together. Some are in the open and some are shaded. There is a nice laundry with 4 washers and dryers. The bathrooms/showers are modern and clean but are only located in the office area, so your rig must be self-contained. There is a small but nice swimming pool and covered patio and a fitness center. There is a brand new medium sized fenced dog park and green space for walking a dog. The WiFi worked well most of the time. This is a good place for an overnight or a long term stay. - JoyceM

Oct 2018 - $8.00
Nice gem NW of Dallas, run by City of Lewisville. Billed as the best bass fishing in TX. 80+ campsites, W/E hookups only, some w/50-amp. Mostly back-ins; the best back-ins (facing lake) are very hard to get into, even w/o a long RV. 3 times our 27' travel trailer couldn't get in w/o asking a neighbor to move his vehicle (they have to park across the rd; sites are not long enough). Dump sta. is new; all rds have been redone. Ea. site has a picnic table & BBQ grill. Sites are fairly level. You can stay 28 days, & you pay for 1 wk at a time (don't be a single hr late paying or they charge a $5 late fee). You must leave for 2 wks before coming back. Reservations are allowed 3 mos in advance, but you can't choose a site now; you're put in a site that's convenient for them. (Call in advance & you might have a choice). Gates are closed from 11p-6a; if you have to be out late, park in LLP's baseball lot next door & walk in-we were told that all visitors had to park there (some didn't). Rates seem the best in the area: $16-18/night (30 or 50 amp)-& seniors pay 1/2! (Oops; update: they raised their rates 1/1/19 by $2/night for seniors.) 2 bathhouses: an older one, close to entrance & nicer sites, looks old & falling apart; but it works-& it's clean. Newer 1 is at the back of the grounds. All farthest sites have been closed since flooding in spring '15. Free WiFi works great (for our purposes)-can't speak for TV. DFW traffic goes right overhead; early am, late pm, all day Fri, Sat, Sun you hear planes. Park is very convenient to I-35E. People staying for wks use a 'blue boy' to tote waste to the dump sta. to avoid having to hitch up/ take the whole rig/ set up again. We don't want to store one, & rarely stay where one is useful, so we can't stay the 4 wks :>( -too much trouble getting into site again after dumping. MOST staff are very friendly & helpful. Brand-new coin-op laundry, tiny lending library. Golf course right across the street. - Full-Time Full-Timer

Stayed here for a few nights. Nice laundry facility, we had the best site with large field for the dog. Right next to the lake. Was a very nice stay - Tim Thiemann
Jun 2018 - $18.00
I have very mixed reviews for this campground. 1. Nightly rate was fantastic for a long pull-thru site with 50 amps! However, the sites were VERY close together...maybe 10 feet between them. Fortunately, we didn't have anyone on either side of us, so there was enough room for our slide outs. 2. The asphalt on the individual sites was very rough and torn up, making it hard to level your rig, but the streets are wide and smooth. 3. Although the park was mostly full, the grounds were very neat and well-kept. Some areas have plenty of trees, but our site did not have any shade. 4. The laundry facility closed at 8 PM, so I didn't get to use it at all. 5. There were two bath houses, but neither one had any AC. The newer building was like a sauna inside because there was no ventilation except for a mounted fan blowing HOT air. At least the older building had screened windows, allowing some fresh air in from outside. 6. The campground had nice scenery since it was between a golf course and a lake. But, it was located directly in a flight path, and there were jets flying overhead the whole time. - TXcampermom

May 2017 - $17.00
We initially arrived at the campground on the Saturday of Easter weekend and it was PACKED - all the sites were occupied with many large groups, and then there were tents all over the place - I guess anywhere tents are allowed. Our site was near the boat ramp and there were vehicles parked in front of it that we needed to ask to move before we could get parked. First impression was NOT GOOD! But, after the crowds left, the park was wonderful. It is reasonably convenient to I-35E and there are shopping areas close by. We were in site 15 which was a bit unlevel side-to-side but doable to get level with jacks on a motorhome (we met a fellow who stays there often in a 5th wheel and he said it was very hard to level his rig on that site). The park limits stays to 14 days out of 30. They were very understanding when we needed to cut our stay short and refunded the days that we had not used. The dump station is back up toward I-35E - about a mile away - near the school. I would not want to try to dump during the time that school kids are being dropped off or picked up as there is a lot of traffic at that time. On the weekend when the park was packed, the other folks staying at the park were obviously not frequent campground stayers and did not observe normal etiquette - at about 11pm, the folks from the campsite behind us were at our picnic table eating and chatting (they had moved from the table at their site presumably to allow their children in the tents to sleep). Other fellow campers saw no issue with walking through our site. But, once the holiday weekend was over, even on other weekends, we did not experience similar situations. There is no camp host on site; the city says that the police come through frequently and I guess that is true though we never needed to take advantage of their presence. - pattic777

No one in office to help. Pool closed. No restrooms, showers. Difficult to get in parking spot because of cars parked in front of spots. Had problems with electric hook up because of a breaker. Worst part of stay was a ROOSTER that crowed every morning at 5 a.m. Not anything like ad on web site! - SharonKay
Apr 2017 - $30.00
First, the positive, location to nearby shopping & restaurants is good. Their web site lists a climate controlled exercise room, scenic picnic sites, free wi-fi, swimming pool. They have a pool, it needed some attention. There is no exercise room, no public restrooms, picnic sites consist of a couple tables, watch out for noxious weeds & don't walk your dog in the area or you'll be picking stickers out of their feet. Wi-fi is poor to non existent. Some sites are so close you wouldn't be able to extend slides. Low hanging branches need to be trimmed. Office is closed on weekends, posted hours don't seem to be accurate either. Routine maintenance & updates are so lacking I don't know how they pass any sort of inspection. All sites are back in, as close as some sites are to one another maneuvering a big rig into one could be a challenge. This would be a good place to open a real rv park. - G Host
Jun 2015 - $30.00
I have traveled for seven years and this is the worst dump I have experienced. Tiny, dirty pool was closed, train tracks 50 yards away with trains coming through every 30 min., large rats, possums, feral cats roaming the park and copper head snakes. A resident was bitten while I was there and almost died. Owners did NOTHING. Dilapidated uninhabited buildings in various states of decay (perfect turf for wild animals, rats, snakes), no bathrooms, laundry room has four antiquated machines and filthy. The wireless internet is so poor just get used to the message "connection timed out." The pictures on their site and info is a farce. The positive reviews are obviously created by people with bias. If you don't believe me get here early with plenty of daylight and take a good look around before you give these crooks your money. I came in late, paid for a week in advance and was very upset by their dishonesty. Stay away! - Open Road Traveller

Went here when the price was reduced for the "off" season. A nice park but we have been to much nicer and far less expensive parks. $65 on season is ridiculous. It is clean and the senior citizen staff attentive. Over priced and nothing special. I believe this city owned park on a Corps of Engineers park takes advantage of its central Dallas/Fort Worth to overcharge customers. - artgpo
Nov 2005 - $50.00
We camped here for the Inaugural Dickies 500 NASCAR race in November 2005. We weren't expecting much and we weren't disappointed. Shower room is big; we didn't use it but lots of folks did and we didn't hear anyone complain about it. Grocery concession run by Albertson's with typically high prices for an event such as this. Ice was $5 per bag and it half-melted before reaching the trailer. Church services on Sunday morning before the race and several other activities available in campground area. No golf carts allowed, no gasoline-powered cycles or ATVs allowed. No motorcycles allowed in campground areas. If you don't have a bike, you walk everywhere. The big draw is the NASCAR race. Camping is convenient to the track so there's no three-hour wait in traffic to get to the race. Keep in mind although it's Ft. Worth, it's technically the desert; it's hot during the day, even in November when we stayed here, and cold at night. No quiet hours: it's pretty much a 24-hour tailgate party. Sites are 20'x50' but there's no limit on the number of RVs and vehicles that can be crammed into each site. The site on the awning side of our trailer had two small travel trailers and a Class A on it. Speedway offers fresh water fill-ups and honey wagon service "for a nominal fee". We didn't fill our waste tanks, and our fresh water tank had more than enough water for the weekend, so we didn't use either service and we can't give the cost. - Rick&maribethinMS
