We occupied the only one of two remaining pull-through site in the park. It did not have a sewer connection. Five previous pull-through sites (we've stayed before) have been converted to a type of "cabin" camping experience using new airstream trailers with full hook-ups in highly developed sites (shade, deluxe fire pit, deluxe gas grill island, table & Adirondack chairs, wheelchair accessible and overhead night lighting). Bottom line: this is an intentional nod to those looking to stay without RV's. It's a legitimate Lower Colorado River Authority decision, given that most people visit the park to fish, boat or swim. As RV'ers we, however, will not return. Regarding our site, water pressure and electricity were reliable but heavy use of leveling blocks were required to prevent an over-stroke error on my automatic leveling system. Site was clean with fire ring, picnic table, shade and plenty of asphalt space to park our RV and two cars. We received several high definition over-the-air TV stations and our Verizon hot spot provided good service. Bathroom was generally clean but unheated, making showers in December a trying experience. No laundry. Lack of sewers will define the park as a place for only short-term RV stopovers, holiday and weekend use. That said, this is a beautiful, quiet area and the park is well-maintained. We camped at North Shore Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This is an especially attractive location for fisherman. Lake Bastrop is one of the warmest lakes in Central Texas because it is a "cooling pond" for a nearby power plant.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at North Shore Park for two weeks, changing sites mid-stay. The camp host was not there when we arrived & office was only open Thursday through Sunday, which I assume is winter hours. However, we did not know that before we arrived and had to figure things out on our own. (The telephone number provided when making a reservation is for the South Park campground.) The 50 amp wasn't working on our pedestal and we had to report it at South Park but it was eventually fixed. The sites were not level and I now understand the reviews that said this park is good for practicing. - We did manage to find a somewhat level section of the site. This is a small campground and was very quiet when we were there. The day rate I listed includes the day use fee that is in addition to the reservation charge. We camped at North Shore Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You can receive mail while at this park but must use the South Park address and pick it up at South Park. When we were on site 60, there was a cardinal that seemed to think our motorhome was in his territory. He attacked our motorhome and car mirror from sun up to sun down. He didn't bother us when we moved to site 68.) However, at some point during our stay something (probably a squirrel) chewed through the wires for our tow dolly lights.

The RV park is very well kept with a very friendly host who is always around if you need anything The day park & facilities, adjoined to the Camping section is another story. I heard a commotion coming from the women's bathroom during an evening walk & there was a whole faimily in there with suitcases and using the facilities. We camped at North Shore Park in a Travel Trailer.

Found this park to be very clean & well maintained.
The hosts keep the trash cans emptied. It would be nice if they would police each site as the campers leave to make sure the site is left clean. We camped at North Shore Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in this park for a week and loved it. The sites have a rearward slope, but not too bad. They have a nice fishing pier and boat ramp within walking distance. The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. The town of Bastrop is about 6 miles away and has a Walmart and lots of great places to eat. We found it to be a very quiet park on the week days and not too bad on the weekend. The only problem we had was being awakened in the morning by buzzards walking on the roof (LOL). When I opened the door they all flew away. Reserving on-line was quick and easy. They do have an extra fee per day, but give discounts for seniors and military. It's listed on the website. We can't wait to stay there again. We camped at North Shore Park in a Travel Trailer.

Another great LCRA campground. Although this park is smaller than the South Shore, we found it to suit us just fine. Be aware that all of the sites have a rearward slope to them, but not too bad. We stayed from Sun-Thurs and had the place pretty much to ourselves. This was the week before July 4th. We plan to use this park on a regular basis when we're not out of state. We camped at North Shore Park in a Travel Trailer.

I was looking for a closer, cheaper place for weekend getaways. I didn't really expect to find such a nice place to go. The Lower Colorado River Authority maintains many parks associated with their dams, lakes, and river control. It is currently under renovation so the showers/bathroom were not open, but that is not a problem for us. They also upgraded the electric and water so more sites have 50 amp service than show on the website. A limited number of sites have sewer hookup. The full hookup sites are wonderful. They are pull through with exceptionally long parking areas and well separated sites and nice tree cover. The rear view is a beautiful 1300 acre lake. The sites slope front to back (easily within the landing gear range) but are very level side to side. There were large open areas thick with clover. Boat launching area was double wide with dock and tie up areas. Fishing pier. Wide 5 mile long trail connects to the South Shore park. $20 full hookup fee and $4 per person per day for park access. We camped at North Shore Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our first time here. The park had been recommended by a friend that had camped here several times. This park is clean and the pine trees are beautiful. The only issue we had was with the park host. He was extremely rude with the group and made us feel like we were criminals. The park rangers were very nice and the other campers were very friendly. If we ever decide to return, I will make sure they have a different camp host. We camped at North Shore Park in a Fifth Wheel.

State park atmosphere. Sites are long and wide, shady, secluded and paved. Paved roads, good water pressure, close to lake and pier. Sites are not very level, no store on site, but close. Each site has graveled areas, fire rings, tables and trees. Good for kids. We camped at North Shore Park in a Travel Trailer.
