This park may have been nice once upon a time but it's not now. Grass needs to be cut and the grassy or dirt sites that are OK when it's dry are a mess with all the rain in central Texas. I put my tow vehicle in 4WD pulling our 5th wheel into position to avoid digging a muddy hole with one rear tire. Some of the long term residents have multiple vehicles around their RVs and I felt the need to be careful of overhanging branches while pulling thru the park. The good news is that it's very quiet at night. The store is mostly souvenirs from the cavern and has no refrigerated or frozen food or ice. They don't take reservations and we were told to park wherever we wanted and chose site 1. The park is a ways off the freeway and at $20-$25 a night would be worth the drive and mess, but not worth it for the $45 they charged us, especially if you have no interest in the cavern attraction. You prolly want to call before you make the trek to verify they have open sites during popular times of the year. We camped at Cascade Caverns in a Fifth Wheel.

LBK, owner at Cascade Caverns responded to this review

Grass is cut frequently but grows quickly due to frequent rainfall. Roads are mostly asphalt and sites are mostly gravel. Multiple vehicles not allowed at RV sites. Branches hanging over the roads are trimmed. Our rates are lower than the other RV Park in Boerne (we also have special discounts for Airstream and Sprinter RV owners). We have the best WiFi in town and two updated bath houses with showers. Dog Run is huge. Our composite Good Sam score is 8/10. We are just 2.5 miles off IH-10 at Exit 543. We are not a Walmart parking lot type RV Park. We like trees and shade.

We've stayed here 4 times and have always enjoyed. There is a smaller number of RV spaces and a big grassy open area for our 8 year old to play a bit and then of course the famous caverns that are right under ground where the RV spots are. There are not many people on site that work there, but has never been an issue. We will keep going back. We camped at Cascade Caverns in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Kind of just an average campground. Plenty of trees and shade, friendly staff, level, dirt and gravel sites, utilities worked well. Sites are small and most would not accommodate larger rigs.

Shower houses were recently renovated, and while clean, I think we were the only one using them and they were not cleaned the entire time we were there. The dirt that was there stayed there the entire time.

There were a lot of long term campers there, the board in the office showed us as the only transient campers in the campground. But everyone was friendly and mostly kept to themselves, it is a very quiet campground. We camped at Cascade Caverns in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The cave tour is well worth the time, very nice show cave and even got to see some bats up close. Boerne is the nearby town with a very nice downtown area with shopping and dining. It is also fairly convenient to San Antonio.

A little off the beaten path. The camp ground was full of trees, but nothing has been mowed in weeks! Be careful driving in or out of the place in early morning or at dusk when the deer are wandering on the access road. The main road into the park is paved, the internal roads are gravel and kind of rough. The sites are hard packed dirt and grass not evenly spaced nor leveled so take a good look before deciding. Very close to one another. Full hook up. Though it was fairly quiet, there seemed to be a few long term resident with some barking dogs that occupy many of the pull thru sites. Got quite a few channels on the antenna including the major channels. We decided to skip the tour and only stayed one night. We camped at Cascade Caverns in a 28' travel trailer and would not go back again. We camped at Cascade Caverns in a Travel Trailer.

Not the easiest for big rigs to get to. Trees kept hitting the antenna on the roof. Small winding road in. Several sites had trees in the middle so they were unusable for big rigs. But it was remote and quiet. Clean campground, friendly staff, and long pull thru sites. Full hookups. We camped at Cascade Caverns in a Motorhome.

This is a quiet park with great staff. Great place for a long-term or short-term stay. Easy to pull in during or after hours, deer graze in the park during morning and evening hours. Hiking trails and a cave to tour are a bonus. We camped at Cascade Caverns in a Travel Trailer.

We had a great weekend stay at Cascade Caverns & RV Park. If you're traveling by RV, it's a great stop a tad west of San Antonio, a few miles off I-10. It's fairly easy to get to, and very quiet - unlike other RV parks along highways. The park itself offered wide slots with 20/30/50 AMP service. They have a good wifi signal throughout the park, but as with most campground and hotel wireless, it's pretty slow at 2Mbps. (Verizon LTE was 4-8Mpbs). Bathrooms were clean, staff was great.

The cave a very nice - one of the few caves we've visited that was 'alive', with enough water to keep the formations growing. As with most caves, it's great for a hot summer day to step down into the cool depths. We camped at Cascade Caverns in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is off the main highways, but that's the beauty of this place as it's very quiet and well-treed, with mature live oak trees. Just be careful driving in or out of the place early morning or at dusk when the deer are wandering on the access road. The bathhouse and showers are clean, large and fully tiled. The laundry is big and bright with plenty of good machines. We picked our own site, so scout around the park a bit first as some sites are more level than others. Wonderful campground that's just a couple of miles from town & Walmart but in peace and quiet. The deer are amazing. We saw 10 just driving to our spot. The campground was a bit muddy, but this was during the big rains that closed many local campgrounds. Friendly staff. Clean restrooms with good showers. Wifi was good. Got quite a few channels on the antenna including the major channels. Nice hiking adventures possible on the large property. We camped at Cascade Caverns in a Motorhome.

Internal roads are gravel and kind of rough, watch for low hanging branches on the roads to the campground, sites don't look very level but are level and are spacious, facilities worked well, site was satellite friendly. Staff were friendly, park WiFi worked well,T-Mobile cell service was good. The park was quiet. Rate is Good Sam. The Cavern tour is really worth taking. We would stay here again. This campground was beautiful. The nature trails and surrounding wooded area where well-maintained and taking care of. The employees were well mannered, knowledgeable, and very welcoming. I love the old buildings in the gift shop was full of fun souvenirs. I was completely blown away by how clean the bathrooms were. It look like they were in the middle of making even more improvements to this campground during our stay. I would definitely recommend Cascade Caverns because they've got the cave, camping, and the nature trails. We camped at Cascade Caverns in a Motorhome.

Absolutely beautiful. The camp ground was full of trees and wildlife. We sat in our lawn chairs and watched several deer just out walking around; breathtaking. The restroom's/showers were clean and very modern. Staff was courteous and very helpful to recommending local restaurants and other local attractions. Also, make sure you take the tour of the cave right there onsite. It is amazingly beautiful down there. We will definitely return next time we're in Texas. Upon arriving at Cascade Caverns we were greeted with a smile. The very friendly staff was more than accommodating and helpful. After setting up camp, my wife and I decided to take the cave tour (an unexpected bonus). It only took about an hour and was an experience we will not soon forget. After the tour we enjoyed a nice, long hike on one of the many nature trails available. The bath houses were in fact clean, well stocked, and had plenty of hot water to enjoy a nice, long shower. All in all, this was a very pleasurable stay and we are looking forward to visiting next year. We camped at Cascade Caverns in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We did enjoy our stay for these reasons: staff very friendly, cavern tour was enjoyable, 3/4 mile hiking trail was fun but that is where the good stuff ends. There was a sewer leak at the head of the trail that no one had done anything to clean up. The restrooms/showers are not attended to regularly. They have a VERY expensive laundry facility, but no way for patrons to get quarters for them. The rec room should be called "wreck" room and that is being generous. It was FILTHY! Do not let your kids go in there. I'm pretty sure you could get sick from the germs in there. Besides the fact that the TV is ancient, and it only has a VHS player. There was spilled coke everywhere that no one has bothered to clean up, and the bathroom I'm sure carries disease. Lastly, the litter around the park has been there for awhile. I could tell by the age of the containers lying around. It's too bad that the maintenance stinks, because the park is overall pretty and could offer so much more! We camped at Cascade Caverns in a Travel Trailer.
