Small RV park on Highway 147 just outside Broaddus, TX. Family owned and maintained. Small, only 4 sites, but quiet, shady and great access to Nearby Rayburn lake. Great for hunters or fishermen. There are no Public restrooms, no showers, just RV sites. Will stay again, and plan on renting a site for Fulltiming. - ikeblows

Dec 2015 - $20.00
We were the only campers here for our stay of 5 nights, as this is their slow season. The site was overlooking the lake and was peaceful and serene. Can't beat the scenery! It is not a resort, but a well maintained campground. We loved it. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our dogs and us will be back next year! No sewer hook up, but they will pump your tank for $15.00, 24 hour notice needed. We didn't use shower/toilet facility. Great place to walk your dog and enjoy nature. Felt safe and secure. - VickiT
Aug 2014 - $30.00
The staff was very friendly and the grounds were neat. The sites are easy to access and pretty level. We view of the lake was very nice... Wish we had brought a boat. Bathrooms were easily accessible and clean. My only complaint was the ants. Everywhere. Don't avoid this park because it is a nice place to camp. But, bring your ant spray. - Dcleblanc
Jun 2012 - $30.00
We had one of the few pull through sites. It was real close to the site next to us. However, we were traveling with them. The bathrooms really need to be updated. If you want quiet and relaxing place to camp, this is the place. They could use a little more upkeep on cutting the grass. Their website is a little deceiving when it shows the beach area and they did not have the "Aqua Zone" installed for the kids yet. We would camp here again. - lazyh17

Jun 2017 - $9.00
Stayed here for a week in June. The weekdays were good. There is a lot of wildlife to photograph. There weekend was bad. We saw multiple incidents where people were attacking nesting birds. The showers have not been maintained and the fans do not work making it nearly impossible to use them. There was plenty of parking space at our site for our toad. - geode
Apr 2017 - $13.00
Nice park, would rate higher if sites had sewer connections. Dump station was conveniently located, but strangely configured to make it difficult to dump without "accidents". Asphalt pads on several sites were badly buckled and needed to be repaved. Nice boat ramp and good lake views. Bathrooms were clean and staff was friendly and helpful. It was mostly families when we were there, it wasn't a rowdy group as when some other reviewers were there. Would stay there again. - Deep South
Apr 2017 - $13.00
This COE park has spacious sites and several have good lake views. The sites on the southern loop cannot get to the water due to the extensive rip-rap on the shore line. Other sites, however, have access. Sites were not particularly level, and the asphalt was crumbling on the pad site and on the roads. There was a constant patrol by Park staff, and every evening of our weekend stay there were one or two city police cruisers at the campground until 3 a.m.. I don't think this speaks well to the base clientele - and there were a number of over-large groups that looked like they wanted to party hardy. Biggest issue we had was the dump station. It was poorly designed with a 2' x 2' concrete box with a lip that now sticks up above the surrounding gravel. Therefore, any "accidents" were all over the gravel and unable to be easily cleaned by flushing with the hose. This had happened, apparently with somebody ahead of us, and we had quite a mess to deal with (and wash off the bottom of our shoes). Also, the flush hose had a female end on it, not a male end, so it was unusable for my tank flush. - TIN Diesel

We stayed here for four nights on our way back to Illinois after spending the winter in the RGV. Liked this park very much and if ever in the area again will definitely stop here. All sites are full-hookup but we picked site 24 because it is out in the open and our satellite dish on the roof worked great here but there are many shaded sites as well. Wifi worked very well too. Streets and sites are paved so it was very clean. Garbage cans at almost every other site. - k m m
Mar 2012 - $11.00
Very nice and clean. Grass mowed. Level, concrete sites. Only downside was there was NO place to eat dinner for late arrivals who are too tired to cook. Town is pretty much closed down. We ate at Dairy Queen and both got sick during the night. Yikes. We would stay here again, but plan ahead for dinner. - ouachita princess

What a great park. Oilfield workers are gone now. Plenty of sites available. Full hookups. Self-check in. Passport America rate is good for as long as your stay. Other discounts available too. Check with Park Host for Wi-Fi code, varies per site. Paved roads and sites. Picnic tables at sites. Two shelters available for use ($$). Be sure to visit the Museum and San Augustine. Plenty of history in this small town. - Iceman567

So we arrive at the campground and are greeted by the host. According to the host they work as volunteers over the winter so they can avoid moving and the Army Corps of Engineers makes a special exception for them and therefore they can accept no money, no cards, not even cash. You can only camp here if you have a reservation made in advance on the computer system or by telephone with the extra $10 reservation fee. You absolutely cannot pay by cash. We were advised by a frantic host to drive into the campground, pick two sites we liked, and then telephone the reservation system and hope one is available. It took over half an hour waiting on the telephone to get this taken care of and while waiting we were told over and over again in the recording that it was easier to do it on line. That's all well and good except we checked on line while we had internet and we saw nothing about how you must have advance reservations for this particular campsite because the campground hosts are all volunteer and without their volunteering and doing everything for free when union people would be paid so much mare....and so on and so on for as long as you care to listen to the host.... Anyway, after that very bad start, we did finally get into a space. The place is kind of run down with rusted metal bars marking the campsites and many of the sites are sloped and uneven and there are potholes everywhere. Plus many of the sites were really short. We did find a reasonably level one looking out onto the lake but the whole thing left a very bad taste in our mouths. This was doubly so because all our other Army Corps of Engineer stays have been so positive. - Judy Birchland
Oct 2017 - $11.00
Very pretty park, almost all sites on the lake. Great views. No gate attendant on duty here but there is a camp host in the camping loop. That host was great, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Sites are well spaced and allow for relaxing. Water pressure was good and electric was steady. Camping loop is kept very clean by the camp loop hosts. Our only complaint about the park was the gate attendants dogs (about 5 of them) are allowed to run free without leash or attending. We did not appreciate being accosted in our camp by this little "pack" and barked at until we chased them out. We were told by the hosts that this was pretty normal and they did try to apologize for it. We didn't appreciate either nearly being run down by the gate attendant's grandson in his corvette as he chased a "violator" on a 4 wheeler in the camping loop. He later apologized to us, but it left a sour note with us as usually ACE parks have great professionalism in their staff. We saw no ACE staff during the week we spent at this park, but as mentioned, the camp hosts keep it beautiful. We would probably stay here again if in the area. Bring your supplies, other than another campground store about 5 miles away, there is nothing out here. - Fixn2gocamp

One of our favorite parks. Beautiful views of the lake. Large sites along the lake shore. We stayed for 10 days on our most recent stay. Would give it a 10 but since it doesn't have sewer hook up I only gave it an 8. - Rick & Karen

This is an older COE park is in fair condition. Some of the facilities are somewhat antiquated. There are very few sites that I would consider real BIG RIG sites, thought there are many large 5th wheels here in our loop. Maybe a 5th wheel is easier than a motor home to level up . Site #12 was an easy back-in and long enough for our 45' motor home plus parking our Toad in front. #12 is an excellent site for a big rig however this site is tree covered and therefore no satellite reception. Verizon signal is moderate 2-3 bars. Our Mifi worked well. It appears that when the Corp of Engineer developed this park they made no effort to level the ground before laying the asphalt. Park roads are very narrow. - Vstarrider1946
Nov 2016 - $14.00
COE park in fair condition. Does not appear to have had any money spent on it in years. Most sites in our loop accommodate a 35' or shorter. We stayed on site 21 which accommodated our 40' motorhome. I believe this would be the only site in this loop we could have stayed on without serious leveling issues. - Bamagolfer
Dec 2015 - $9.00
We've stayed here before and really enjoy the seclusion and quiet. The cost for seniors is a real bargain at 1/2 price. The 50 amp electricity was good and the water pressure at our site was good too. Our site was a bit difficult to get in because of a low hanging branch, but with lots of maneuvering, we managed to fit in with our front windshield looking at the reservoir and the wildlife.
The signs getting there could be better, and a bit worrisome if you haven't been there before, you might think you are lost. - simonsrf

When we arrived at 5:00pm no one was around. The managers telephone message system did not work. We could not get the washroom codes. Laundry room codes or access the WIFI because we lacked a code. This really bothered us since we decided to pay extra in order to have a laundry and WIFI. The owner was present promptly at opening and he was most apologetic, explained how his telephone had been out of charge and he was indeed unavailable for two hours and it was not normal. He immediately made it right by going us a partial refund, and telling us we could stay as long past check out as we needed without extra charge. We were also offered free firewood so we could have a fire. This made us feel much better. The park itself is a higher end resort style KOA with lovely grounds and lots of grass and trees. We will be back ins site of the mix up on our arrival. - Judy Birchland
Jan 2017 - $38.00
Great park with everything but cable. They have a pond with fish, playground, trails lots of open area. Very friendly and they give you a stack of wood for firepit. And very Close to Lake Sam Rayburn. - SlicksMom
Sep 2016 - $36.00
We had a wonderful relaxing weekend at this park. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They just built a new pool and it is amazing. Our grandchildren loved it. It has a beach entry so the little ones could enjoy it too. There was a birthday party going one for the son of the park owner. They invited our family to join the fun! We had food, cake and our grandkids got to hit the piñata. Very family oriented place! We will be back soon! - Rvretiree22345

One of 3 campgrounds in the Angelina National Forest, the other 2 being Caney Creek and Sandy Creek. Water spigots available but no hook-ups. Generators are allowed -- quiet time is from 10PM-6AM. Small lake (~9 acres) with swimming area roped off. Small creeks from springs located throughout park. No playground. Some campsites with grill and/or fire ring, lantern hook, asphalt driveways. First come, first served. - happybooker1

The sites are actually pretty level, consisting of gravel with grass in between. All are pull-through. Unfortunately, the park is right next to State Hwy. 63. I mean literally right next to this major highway with trucks flying by at 70 mph. No sound barrier at all. No view, well, of course there is a view, just not a nice view. There are pvc picnic tables at some sites. Other sites have wooden conversion seat/picnic tables. They convert from a bench with a back, then flip the back over and it turns into 1/2 a picnic table. Put two together and makes a full picnic table. Kind of nice. We were wondering where we were going to go to take the dogs for exercise. A little walk around the 26 site park is fine for potty, but not enough to keep one 1 yr old Irish Setter satisfied. Even the little stream is almost stagnant. There was a 20 foot long piece of plastic sheeting hanging over a log and laying in the stream. Not a pretty sight. The one saving grace for this place is that behind this RV park is an equine camp. If you want to tent camp, then that may be a nice park. There are about 15 grassy/dried leaves sites with water & electric and each site has a little horse corral to keep your horse safe overnight. The trails in the woods behind the campground are actually quite nice. This park is fine for overnight and the manager is very nice, but for a vacation spot? No way. - Fur Mom

Another beautiful COE park. There was a bald eagle greeting us as we arrived. Roads are excellent. We had one of the few sites with a sewer. - geode
Apr 2017 - $14.00
We have stayed at this COE park many times in the past six years and it is one of our favorites. BUT this is the first time we have been very unhappy with the performance of the paid attendants. They are supposed to check on the park and they never do! This past week end we had several dogs running loose though the rules clearly state on a 6 foot leash and no longer! Also one of the camper must have thought that we wanted to hear their music so they had it up loud enough that we could hear it inside our rig, with our windows and door closed with the A/C running! Also the dog owners never picked up after their dogs nor removed their trash from their site, plus the paid park maintenance person hasn't cleaned up the sites. Everyone left on Sunday and this is Tuesday and nothing has been done! Not sure we will stay here again. - Rick & Karen
Nov 2010 - $12.00
Great campground. Basically grew up here. Camping is cheap and they let you have a ton of people on one site. Great fishing pier that is lighted at night and lake Sam Rayburn is one of the best fishing sites in the state of Texas. Restrooms aren't the best but they are better than the State park next door. - ProZachJ
