We have a 35 ft. Motorhome and the first site we were assigned to was on the side of a hill and no way to get the front of the rig high enough to level. Second site was a bit better. Ant problem was horrible....you have to put down powdered Sevin all around any object that touches the ground...that leads to it being tracked into your RV. They charge a camping fee...and a daily fee per each person in your party. One night we had friends pick us up for dinner. The person at the gate didn't charge them to come in to pick us up...but returning from dinner...new crew at the gate and they wouldn't let them in to drop us off without paying a $7 entry fee. So stupid! We will never come back. Way too much $$$ for so little! We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

We were warned about the ant problem on our arrival so I put a natural insecticide down around d the jacks and tires. It must have worked for two days. But on the third day, after a full day at the Texas State Fair we came back to an inundated MH with crazy ants. I had to go to a 24 hour Walmart for Home Defense and send the grand kid home in the middle of the night so we could rid the MH of ants. I never seen them on the jacks, tires or lower compartments but they seemed to be everywhere in the living area. How they got in is a mystery. Home Defense and/or Devin dust is necessary! We have since been told this is a years old problem at Cedar Hill S.P., so it is off our list of places to return to. And that is a shame since it was beautiful outside and close to Dallas and the grandson. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

This park should be labeled a bio-hazard and closed down until the problem is solved. It is overrun with Argentine ants which are everywhere. They are on your picnic tables, benches, RV pads and everywhere else. Even though we sprinkled Sevin dust all around our trailer, we woke up with ants everywhere inside the trailer. In the beds, counters, walls, sinks, you name it. Argentine ants are an invasive species with no natural control. We hated to use insecticides in the trailer, but we used Sevin dust inside, Raid ant spray and diatomaceous earth. It was horrible. It was the first day of our trip and we thought it was over, but where to go? Certainly not home where we could transport this biological nightmare. The thought of our house being overrun with these creatures was too much. We got out of that park immediately and continued with our trip. I sincerely apologize for transporting an invasive species around the country. With continued the use of Raid and Sevin dust and we beat them back after a few days. Its been a week since we got home and have not seen them. We can pray that we got them all. It was a nightmarish start to our trip. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

My DH and I stayed in this park for a week. The site was very spacious with a very large back area. The site was asphalt and hard but not very level. The grass was not cut and in areas on our site the grass was knee high. The restroom/showers were buggy and there was a tarantula living in the ladies shower area. The water here smells like sulfur. Our site was very quiet and we were able to enjoy a fire in the fire pit. We ended up with an ant infestation so we probably will not stay here again. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

This state park is on Joe Pool Lake and is a good option close to Dallas. We were in a FHU site. The loop we were on had a lot of sites but a limited number for larger units. The sites are not very level and some of the asphalt needs repair. However the sites themselves are nice with covered picnic tables. Many sites have lots of trees. It is close to shopping and restaurants. Some of the park, including the trails, was closed due to flooding in February. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Anything over 25 feet has few spaces to stay in other than the spaces with sewer and they are $5.00 more per day. My 20 foot trailer barely fit in my site and the parking for the truck is side by side. The park is old and run down and not maintained very well. It does fill most weekends as the location is just minuets from Fort Worth, Dallas, Grand Prairie, Arlington and everything in the Metroplex. The location is the only reason I ever stay here! We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful park. We had a beautiful view of the lake from the north campground. During our stay, the park suffered a water main break, due to construction in the area. We ended up not having water for the majority of our stay, which was not their fault. The park staff, however, was not very knowledgeable with the situation, and we got different stories from different workers (how long they would be out of water, whether water needed to be boiled once it came on, whether they would call us when we could use water again, etc). The pads do need some updating, as the asphalt is beginning to crack. Most sites were not level without adjustment. Because of the water problem, we used the bathrooms in the south area. The bathrooms were old but clean, and the showers were nice and hot, with excellent water pressure. No problems with cell reception at the park. This park is just south of Dallas, but it felt like we were in the wilderness, which is what we love. An excellent price for being near a big city! We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

All things Dallas/Ft. Worth are nearby. We saw the Book Depository Museum, enjoyed the George W. Bush Presidential Library, toured Cowboy stadium, enjoyed the Ft. Worth Historic Stockyards, inspired our kids by looking around the University of Dallas, and visited Tom Landry, Mickey Mantle, and Mary Kay at Sparkman-Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Cedar Hill, Coyote Crossing, 5 nights, site was a clean asphalt chip back-in, the water spigot was literally at ground level, others were not. A metal fire ring/grate and covered picnic table on a pad was at the rear of the site. Few campers, restrooms were attended daily. Staff friendly. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

The park looks abandoned. The marina is closed and many sites are not in use. The bathrooms have spider webs and insects crawling around. Within 8 hrs of arrival, I had my motorhome invaded by ants which I understand are a problem in the park and I was never told when I checked in. I left early the next morning. This park should be shut down until its properly maintained and exterminated. Close to shopping area and retaurants and entrance and road to park was being worked on and the entrance appears quite nice ut once you are inside , the park needs alot of work. I will not return. Disappointing at best. Having lived in the area when park and lake opened originally, it has not aged well. Marina closed for good due to flood damage. Sites just adequate at best. People next to me had 4 vehicles plus camper at their site. One truck towing boat. No parking for more than one car so they parked on side of road, partially blocking it. Rangers or host never said or did anything. While they do have ant problem, never saw any at my site, 163. Maybe back out of necessity, but not out of desire. Love Texas state parks, just not this one. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed for a couple of days. The area was not bad, the park was clean, and the trails were taken care of. Really enjoyed the Penn Farm area, and did not do any fishing. Swimming was closed, and one of the larger camping grounds was closed. There is an Ant problem, and we actually went to Walmart (only 8 min away) to buy more ant stuff just to make sure we did not get infested. Will I be going back, probably not. Sites were OK, nothing to get excited about, they did have 50 amps and sewer. But, I was really disappointed watching very large campers trying to get into tiny spots because a pop up camper, or a tent took a large parking space. There were entire areas with 30 amps for pop ups and even tent camping. Bring Ant poison with you, I knew they had a problem but did not know how bad it was until we got there. We had to put it all the way around just to make sure they did not crawl into the trailer or truck. It wasn't fun. The picnicking areas are not always near the parking spots, at least ours was not and there was not enough room to have a table or sitting area for dinners out side. BTW 209 & 208 are perfect if you have two families who are camping together, our picnic tables were very close to the point we might as well have eaten together. Not what you are looking for when you want to get away. Also, you could hear more of the highway traffic when you sat outside than you did crickets. Just wasn't super impressed with the experience, the grounds, or the amenities. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sites 220, 221 and 223 were very shady, especially from the late afternoon sun. The people at the front gate were extremely friendly and helpful. And the restrooms near us were very clean. When we first arrived we noticed that the grass was very high; I don't know if it was overgrown, or they were letting it grow for the wildflowers. We had no problems with ants at our campsite. The campsites are a little close to the next campsite, but still OK. Most of the RV campsites along the lake were closed because of flooding several months back, and there was some construction at the entrance. We were disappointed that some of the hiking trails were closed. But all in all, it was very nice, and we will return someday. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed two nights at this park in January 2017 in a 40' fifth wheel. The lady at the gate gave us a pull thru site with a view of the lake. Site was not that level, but we managed. Very quiet park and appeared clean. Pretty good for a State Park. Was easy to navigate all the roads. All roads and our site was paved. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very pretty state park, and not a bad price for the area, except that they charge a day use fee on top of your campsite. I believe the total for the two of us and the site was $35.00. A lot of the sites are very short with hook ups in the rear, we were able to switch to a different site than assigned and got one with hook ups in the center. The bathrooms weren't bad but could use a bit more frequent cleaning as there were quite a few bugs inside. Spider webs in the sinks makes me think it was more than a day or two between cleanings.
