Interior roads are narrow. We had a pull through but had to back out because of trees. The site was easy to level up in. The sites are close together. We were there mid week off season so it was not an issue. The park had no wifi service...they said that they are between providers. We have verizon cell and had no service at all. The park is less than 2 miles from Garner State Park which is why we chose it. We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Garner State Park is worth a visit. Lost Maples State Park is also close by. Leakey has fuel and groceries. A few restaurants most closed during the week in off season. The Frio River is right below the park. You can tube and fish. The nearest "big" city is Ulvade, about 40 miles away.

Overall Rating:

The park is directly across the river from Garner State Park. Park is clean and well managed. Was quiet at night as we were able to sleep with the windows on the camper open. Of course, the attraction is the Frio River which is pretty shallow (waist high deepest at our point) and clean and clear. Yesterday the river was full of kids. The park was probably 80 percent full when we pulled in Friday but this morning (Sunday) a lot of folks cleared out. There are picnic tables and pits at every camp site. There is cable TV (haven't tried it) and the wifi is really pretty good. We are located right by an antenna. The utilities are fine and water pressure good. Only a couple nits... the pads are gravel and ours is not level. Had to use one of those tire changing ramps to get us close to level. Many spots are more level but a lot don't have a clear view of the Southern Sky (a lot of shade trees) for a sat dish. Ours spot has clear view and that is why we chose this slot. One nit is that they could have put some benches along the river to just sit and take things in (not much of a nit). The bathhouse is super clean, modern and spacious and the park store is well stocked with groceries, rv stuff and river stuff. All in all a very nice park. We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

18 year old park right on the Frio River. The sites are crumbling asphalt and the grass in them is all weeds. Needs a fave lift in this area. Due to location only ATT is available for cell service BUT great free internet and cable/Satellite TV system installed by park. So you can't call but can do Skype, etc. Great people to work with with full service store on site. Sell propane as well. Great value just needs some TLC. We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Enjoy the Frio River however it is right across from Texas's Garner State Park so can be very busy. Great golf course close by @$45 or $23 twilight, after 1 pm. Some great motorcycle riding in this area, the Twisted sisters runs, 3 roads heading out of Leaky, Txx. Bent Rim Grill is the headquarters for these runs there.

It was 5 years ago we where in the park and it is still a pretty as we remembered. Rate is PPA however they told us they will no longer do that from 2020. We understand during peak/high season, but off-season would be great because it will attract people. During our stay there where only 10 sites occupied. AT&T works great, WiFi works great and the (free) cable is a little blurry. Very quiet during weekdays. We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The rate reflects a winter monthly rate of $380.00 plus power (this month is 10.8 cents a kwh). Very nice park with a lot of mature live oak trees. Satellite can be a bit of a problem for some but we have a dish on a tripod so can set it up for a clear view. Utillities are in the right spotbut our site wasn't overly level but the auto level on the trailer worked. Fires are allowed and wood is $12 a bag so we found a local guy that sold us a truck load way cheaper. Office staff are very nice and they have quite a bit of stock. Easy walk down to the river (ramp and stairs) for some trout fishing! Nearest Walmart is about 30 minutes away in Uvalde Tx and San Antonio is 1: 20 away. The roads could use upgrading as they are getting pretty rough with some potholes. We would stay here again as it's pretty hard to beat the price. We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The place was well-kept and pretty with easy access to the Frio River. What we did not like was the $4 per child or addditonal person beyond 2 people rate charged. There were no playgrounds or dog parks. And the "snowbirds" or winter Texans residing there fussed at young children for walking in an adjacent empty camp sites on several occasions. While access to Frio is nice, it's clearly intended for older campers. We were disappointed that fellow campers would be so rude to our children. We camped with two other families who felt the same way. It is quiet in the evenings and at night which is a huge plus. We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There was a paddle boat rental facility just across the river in Garner State Park. Easy access to the state park. Would recommend taking 1050 in lieu of 350. There website suggests two routes, but 350 is long and winding and routes you to drive your rv thru the Frio. 1050 is much quicker.

This is an okay park for campers with kids that want river access. The roads were only fair and the sites were tight. Our problem was with the electrical system. Shortly after plugging in, we noticed some electrical issues with our coach. Fortunately, we had a Surge Guard and plugged it in. When we returned from dinner, we saw that there apparently had been a surge or other issue because the Surge Guard had tripped. The $350 Surge Guard was ruined, but prevented further damage to our coach. A park employee checked the pedestal and said nothing was wrong. We did not plug back in but used the generator for the time that we were there. The park is decent, but in my opinion, not the high ratings that others have given. We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first stay here in our travel trailer and our first experience in a private RV park. Prior to arriving, the staff was very helpful during phone conversations (my attempt to make an on-line reservation failed numerous times) and the check-in and store staff was very friendly and helpful. We certainly appreciated the quick response from the park owner and a maintenance worker who came to our site #24 quickly to help us troubleshoot when we experienced power problems. Very helpful and friendly and they checked back with us the following day. It turned out that it was not a park power issue. We enjoyed our river front site...we were just steps from the beautiful Frio River with a view of Garner State Park! Our site was very level and didn't require any extra leveling blocks. Water pressure was very good. The park was very quiet, about half of the sites occupied, on this mid-September weekend except for the screaming river users, which one night was until after 10pm. The sites have a wooden picnic table and fire ring. I did visit the restrooms (using the door code which keeps out river users) and found it very clean and nice and the showers appeared to be roomy and private (I didn't use the shower). Garbage dumpsters are located at the restrooms. The TV cable worked great with 24 channels to choose from - San Antonio network channels, ESPN, HGTV, TBS, Nat Geo, TNT, Weather, etc. There was free WIFI but only one device in your party can be logged in at a time, so we just used our cell phone service as we had AT&T 3 bars. Really our only dissatisfaction with our experience here was the location of the site utility pole as it was placed for motorhomes to pull into the site, whereas we backed in our travel trailer and the pole was nearly at our travel trailer door. We had to step over the water hose, cable and power cord each time we entered our travel trailer. We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rate was weekly rate with discount. Very nice park on bluff overlooking Rio Frio river. Park sites are gravel, fairly level. Power worked well, good water pressure, FHU sites. There are both back in and face in spots overlooking the river. Two accesses to river, both could be challenging to someone with limited mobility. Sites are a little close for our taste, but similar to what you'll find in most commercial parks with water access. State park is across the river so it's a little noisy on the weekends. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice store for supplies. Park wifi was very good, no Verizon cel or data signal. We would stay here again, but think we would avoid busy summer time and holidays. As a former owner/operator of an RV park, I can truly say this is one of the BEST RV parks in the US! We have travelled extensively since we sold our RV park and I pay attention to details! This immaculate RV park is so very inviting! The RV sites along the "bluff" upper bank of Frio River are amazing with huge Bald Cypress trees lining the river down below! We have a 45' Motorhome the park & sites are easily accessible. 50 & 30 amp full hook ups with picnic tables & fire rings! Lots of mature shade trees scattered throughout the park mostly Live Oak providing shade year round! Not an un inviting RV site to be found here, even if you don't get lucky enough to get a river front site. The river is crystal clear and you can see the bottom from the campsite situated above on the river front sites!! Across from Garner State Park which is so close to visit during the day as well. The staff here are very friendly & helpful! They gave us directions to Utopia, where we had breakfast. We made a loop that has amazing views along the top of the pass! This RV park has a well stocked general store, sells both firewood & ice. Propane also available as well as laundry & shower facilities, very clean but did not use because we brought our own. There is cable and WIFI also. The river is accessible for all guests to walk down to and enjoy! The scenery here in the surrounding hill country is picture perfect year round! This RV park is also pet friendly but we didn't bring a pet, so not sure about any specific rules regarding pets. This is not a "big party" park for young people but more of a place for the folks & families just wanting to RELAX, enjoy the RIVER and enjoy NATURE!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS RV PARK IF THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR!!! We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a destination rv park in the Frio Canyon of the Texas Hill Country with numerous sites beside the Frio River. It is well treed with much shade and the grounds are well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful and the convenience store is well stocked. Food, rv supplies, firewood and river recreation apparel and gear. BYOB. WIFI (slow but reliable) and Cable tv are included in the rates. AT&T cell signal averaged 3 bars and worked reliably. This is a family and pet friendly park. Although there is no playground or dog park, no one seemed to be bothered that kids ran around and rode their bikes through out the park and camp sites and animal owning humans take their animals to someone else's camp site to defecate and urinate when there is a wide open country road with plenty of country road-side grass and dirt right outside the park main entrance. At least the humans have the sense to pick up their animals mess and take it with them. Overall, this park is very quiet and peaceful in the winter and I would return (with a Galton whistle). We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Overall Rating:

This is a great RV Park right along the river. There are a number of sites with large trees to provide shade. There are a variety of sites from pull-thrus to back-ins.

We were here in October and the place was pretty empty. The staff were friendly and helpful. They gave us a map and marked more than a dozen empty spots and let us drive around and select the one we wanted.

We chose a large back-in space with a huge tree overhead that provided shade during some very hot days.

We felt very safe even though the campground is in a low population, low traffic area.

The internet was Tengonet (which requires you to setup a username/password). The park provides access for one device for each day that you are staying. If you want access for additional devices, you can purchase day (or week) passes at the office. A 24-hour internet pass cost $4. The internet was strong and worked great.

The cable TV did not work well. They staff told us that they wired the park for cable and what we found was that a number of sites were daisy-chained together which seemed to greatly diminish the signal. Because of the remoteness of the area, there are no channels available via antenna.

The restrooms are awesome! Each shower has it's own room (with a full door that closes). The facilities were clean and well maintained.

We really enjoyed this park and would return again if we were in the area. We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great staff that keeps park clean and even picks up your trash several times a day. Just set it out in front of your site. We have been coming here every July for the last 12 years and always enjoy.

The summer time you can enjoy the cools waters of the Frio River, but need to reserve well ahead of time. Many campers place deposit for the next year before they leave.

Very family oriented and safe. They have security 24-7, and visitors have to have pass to get into site.

Summer time rates are a bit high but it is all about location...location..location. The internet works well and cable is ok, but we have satellite. Restrooms are awesome!

We will be back next year and hope to make a winter trip as well. We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
