Overall Rating:

Rate based on seasonal. Very pretty park, located near shopping and service needs. Washrooms and showers very well maintained, but showers and change areas very small. New well equipped fitness facility. Cons: Very poor activity organization and communications. Activities signed up for the day offered are over booked on arrival. Activities cancelled or moved with no notice or sign, and activities director seemed never to know anything. Concert seating not first come first serve, but based on number of previous years of stay. Newcomers get the back of the bus, even behind non-park residents. (Locals get to jump the queue.) Despite park rules with regard to traffic, many people raced around the park at speeds far above the 10 - 15 MPH limit, ignored stop signs, etc. The park made no effort to enforce basic traffic rules for safety. Internet speed was good when working, but frequently unavailable. (As confirmed by neighbors.) Much of the park has no grass, just weeds and sandy mud. These areas are over run by red ants, which invaded a neighbor's coach and infested it in the millions. No fault of the park, but weather was mostly overcast and cold, with occasional sunny windy days. There is little to do in the area beside South Padre Island (1.5 hour drive) or Nuevo Progresso Mexico (20 min drive). Would not stay here again, or recommend it to anyone. We camped at Victoria Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

South Padre Island turtle rescue and bird sanctuary worth a visit. Nuevo Progresso also an interesting visit, although stay on the main street, and safer during the day than the evening.

The BEST ENCORE Resort we have ever stayed in. We do have one issue with the laundry. The laundry card is based upon a magnetic stripe and cost $3.00. The laundry card I had to buy at ENCORE Southern Comfort is based upon a chip and cost $2.00. These are not interchangeable. I could not use up the last $1.00 remaining on the card at Victoria Palms because the machines do not permit the combination of a card and coins. Moreover, the machine that reloads the cards requires a minimum of $5.00. The minimum should be $1.00 and this I might end up with $0.25 cents left over on the card. Now I have to keep this card with me for a year until I return to VP next year....quite an investment! Park has excellent wi-fi! We camped at Victoria Palms RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

An OK deal at their promotional price but otherwise value not so great. It is more of a classy resort than an RV park. Did not enjoy diapered babies and kids in what is clearly marked as a resident seniors pool. Huge park ...big ballroom ....big restaurant. Good entertainment books up early so do not procrastinate. Lots of non residents come for this. Kind of neat to watch the parrots every night at 5:00. We camped at Victoria Palms RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

I agree with a previous reviewer about the park's WiFi and cable. Except for local channels cable is all standard definition. Internet, even with a park issued modem for a $100 deposit, is a maximum speed of 3 mbps except when it goes out which is often. A park this expensive should have better electronic amenities. Having noted that, as many other reviewers have noted, the park is very nice with lots of amenities and friendly staff and residents. This is our second winter here. It is located in an area with numerous restaurants, groceries, and other things to do. Love the location. If you are bored here it is your own fault. The Wi-Fi and the TV service provided by this park is very poor. This high end, high $ park claims to provide these services, but it is lacking by to days standards. Plan on using Direct-TV or similar other, and providing your own WI-FI when you are comparing costs. We camped at Victoria Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Lush oasis in the midst of all that the Rio Grand Valley has to offer. Everything about this place is above average. Most sites have large concrete pads that will accommodate your RV and tow vehicle and still have room for chairs etc. And your site will be surrounded by grass and lush palm trees and other beautiful plants in many areas. The location is central and makes visits to Mexico, State Parks (2), Costco, and shopping very convenient. The park recently upgraded all of the equipment in their gym. Beautiful pool with 2 hot tubs. Rate reflects approximate cost with Thousand Trails Zone pass+ Trails Collection. This is a 55+ park. No litter anywhere in the park, immaculate, beautifully maintained club house and common areas. We camped at Victoria Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Drive 12 miles to Progreso and park on the US side. Bring a passport and quarters...2 for the turnsytle going in and 1 for the turnstyle coming home. Walk 1 block from border entrance on Mexican side to Panchos bar (and cafe). There are 2 TX state parks in the area, one 28 m and one 12 m. Be careful walking or biking outside the park there are no sidewalks or bike paths. Also, outside the park, there can be wild or loose dogs. Stores are crowded, go grocery shopping before 9AM.

Okay ... this is is seriously nice and well-managed resort (an overused and often ridiculous classification for a less-than-desirable spot). Stellar property, accommodating staff, super amenities. Maybe the best "park" I've ever stayed at. Try it! ... You'll like it! We camped at Victoria Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Booked here for a week and upon arrival we were offered to stay for a month for $249. Needless to say we bit on the offer. Friendly staff as well as permanent residents. Grounds are well kept with citrus and palm trees throughout. Lots of activities for those who want to participate. Mailroom service for monthly guests. Decent Internet via cable modem for $100 refundable deposit. Worthwhile as park wifi crawls at snails pace during peak hours. Only gripe is security detail can be heard driving around in motorized golf cart by our site every night with our trailer windows open. Definitely a lovely park nonetheless and worth returning. Overall Rating:

This is a seasonal park, so my comments don't really relate to those who want to stay for the winter but if you are staying for a short time then read on. Interior roads are quite narrow and the layout of the park is quite confusing. We were guided to our site which was a back in. Guide helped back in as well but the paved pad was quite wide. Wifi is not provided. Also there were no amenities at the site--just a place to park. Check in was not as easy either as everyone in the office seemed too busy trying to sell houses and lots that our short stay didn't garner attention. We would never stay here again. This is a very large 55+ park. We stayed here 2 months and the rate reflects the monthly rate. There are so many activities and amenities here. The sites are large, with concrete pads, FHU, cable TV, WIFI and hard wired internet. People were very friendly. It is a gated community, with security. There are orange and grapefruit trees on most sites. The grass between the sites was very sparse at our site. The only thing I would've liked to have was a picnic table. They have a sewing room, woodworking shop, stained glass room, card rooms, ballroom. Just a really nice park overall. We'll definitely be back. We stayed at Victoria Palms Resort for two nights in May. The park was easy to maneuver to our space and we were escorted to it by the staff and were offered assistance if needed. Concrete Pad

and patio. All the staff from the registration desk, to the guard at the gated entrance were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return here and recommend it. We camped at Victoria Palms RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

There is nothing to fault here, especially at the special price we found in the FQCC magazine ($200 for the month of March). There is a mix of homes and RV sites, but everything blends in together. Mostly seasonal residents. Our site was large and level, with lemon and grapefruit trees all around. Internet is available either wi-fi or cable. We used the cable with a modem and it was as good as what we have at home. Huge pool with bands playing every few afternoons, as well as every other type of activity your heart might desire. Roads are paved and lined with palm trees. There is a very nice restaurant on site. The park is close to shopping, golfing and dining, and a 30 minute drive from the Mexican border. WiFi & cable TV are included in the rate. Huge variety of activities offered, especially January - March. Dances, many weekly card games, terrific wood working shop, wood carving group, wonderful sewing room. (Bring own machine if doing projects, like making clothes or quilts.) An active group makes hats for cancer patients every Wednesday in the winter season. Stained glass classes are taught in season. Computer classes held in season. Entertainment brought in from Branson, MO., etc. ("Tribute" shows ex. Beatles.) Various types of dance lessons given, dances & special events in large ballroom, etc., etc. There are billards, darts, shuffle board & table tennis groups & tournaments. The pool is great & 2 different water aerobic classes are offered week days in season. During the winter season there were music & snacks poolside one day per week. Holidays are celebrated with special events. One can't be bored here!

Season is between November to the end of March basically for we Winter Texans, but some activities continue year around as there are some permanent residents here also.

Very friendly park with lots to offer. Birding is popular in this part of Texas. There's a National Park close by & various small historical museums in the cities. Good churches in the area. A large Quilt & Creative Arts Show is held in the ballroom every even numbered year. We camped at Victoria Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Victoria Palms is a part of Encore and therefore they had a monthly special in 2016 for first time visitors of $199/month. We took it and therefore the "value" was excellent. The normal monthly rate, at this time, was around $800/month and that is right on target for this property. Many of the sites have lemon/orange/grapefruit trees - which is really delightful.

We stayed for a month and enjoyed many of the amenities that they provide, enjoyed the service, security, beauty and really were impressed with the many activities this property provides. We are considering a return next year. If interested in social activities, not only does this park provide them but all of the parks welcome each other into many of the opportunities. It is just very extensive.

Sites are concrete pads with a patio and are sunny and open. We camped at Victoria Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Donna TX is a wonderful area with anything a person could possibly want in the way of services, entertainment, restaurants, sight seeing, malls, discount malls, and I can't think of a service not available. And, the community was very friendly to "winter Texans" too. That means a lot.

Staying at Victoria Palms provides just about any type of site for any class motor home and they also have park models to rent and for sale.
