Very tight sites if you have a big rig. It's do able but your neighbor will be right on top of you. Location of park to town is what sent us here. No issues with interior roads ....all gravel. Restrooms and showers were very clean and maintained as well as laundry room. We will try another park in the area next time just because of the fact that it was so tight for our big rig. Nice pool and hot tub area. Friendly staff..... We camped at Oakwood RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here several nights while visiting friends nearby, as an alternative to the campground located 5 miles east of town, we patronized a year earlier. This clean, mature park has 132 sites, a pool & spa, is located on the west end of Fredericksburg at the NE corner of Tivydale Road and Hwy 16. The park has tree-shaded sites, some back in, as well as open-area pull thrus. Check in is just as you drive into the park (you block the inbound lane while checking in, but traffic just slowly flows around your rig). Our 43' motorcoach has no difficulty negotiating the park roads. The RV park roads were gravel with gravel RV/trailer sites, sites included picnic tables and some sites included grass areas. The front of the park has ponds fountains and well-trimmed lawns and landscaping. Full hookups w/ cable TV. Cell coverage was good. We camped at Oakwood RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Fredericksburg Visitor Center is at 302 East Austin Street, one block off of Main Street. The Nimitz "Museum of the Pacific War" is minutes away and a must see, tickets are good for two days, the museum is huge. The "Pioneer Museum Complex" recommended for history buffs interested in the early German settlers of Fredericksburg, and the early history of the area.

Overall Rating:

We spent 9 days at this well maintained older RV park, the older back half of the park is well shaded, but spaces are very tight and and some are very hard to get into (I watched someone with a 5th wheel spend 20 minutes getting backed into a site, missing multiple trees by inches and even once in his entry door steps were over the neighbors sewer connection). Front part of park is closer to the highway and is a large gravel lot with few trees, spacing is relatively close here also. Most sites have an approximately 9x18 ft concrete patio and wooden picnic table, some also have fire pits. Power post seemed to be in fair condition, and has a small ground light next to it. Ours was at the back corner of the site, other sites had sewer connection at the front, or mid way along the side. There are a few long term residents here, though most are short term or seasonal. Shaded sites are best suited to smaller RV's without slides, even then some of the sites are very cramped with trees situated so that they may block slides or awnings from extending. Restrooms, showers and laundry room are clean, functional, though show some age and wear, staff does a good job maintain grounds, picking up trash (daily curbside pickup of drawstring trash bags if put out before noon), as well as mowing the little grass that is here. We camped at Oakwood RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Good for the proximity to Fredericksburg, LBJ Ranch, decent BBQ and TX Hill Country wildflowers- but very tight spacing and noisy from the almost constant drone of motorcycles just outside the park. Half the park is a gravel parking lot near the highway. We stayed in the half with decent shade and farthest away from the road noise. Staff was friendly and the park was clean with a tidy grassed dog park. Worth staying if being right in Fredericksburg is your thing, but not if you prefer a more quiet environment and a little space between you and your neighbor. We camped at Oakwood RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very friendly and helpful personnel. Only complaint is sites are too narrow. We couldn't let our awning out but for a few feet and even though we parked as far as possible from neighboring site our big slide encroached at least 1 ft. on pad next to us. Park is convenient to downtown Fredericksburg. We camped at Oakwood RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

They put us in a really difficult spot to back into, but the park itself was quite nice and reasonably close to town. My sewer hose (15') wasn't long enough to connect, which wasn't ideal, though we just used the dump station. The WiFi was good, though I was close to the antenna. Thankfully, one of the folks who worked there temporarily was a truck driver who helped me back into this very tough spot. I didn't enjoy the town very much (horrible food, no night life, subpar vineyards), but the park was otherwise pretty nice. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Clean, efficiently managed. Level gravel site (#96). All hook-ups good with convenient location. Pretty well had to take car off dolly to allow room for others (going to use it anyway). Park in front of MH. Good Wi-Fi. Somewhat tight for getting around in a 40', but doable. IMHO the rate is somewhat high, but that is the case across the board in F'burg whether it's RV parks, hotels, cafes, gas, etc... People keep on visiting. We camped at Oakwood RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Park was very clean. No rundown campers anywhere. Before a new camper came in, the concrete patio pad was washed down. The rally room was immaculate. Entry driveway is a little tight and if a camper is stopped to register you are pretty much stuck waiting. They need a better staging area for registration. This is an older park, but we found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The sites are gravel but level. We parked in a full hook-up site that included cable. The park also had wi-fi with a strong signal. The sites are a little close together, but there is nice space between the rows of sites. We appreciated the two fenced off-leash areas for dogs. The location is great for running around Fredericksburg. This our second time to stay here. We camped at Oakwood RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fredericksburg is known for the many wineries that surround the community. There is a wonderful German heritage here along with interesting shopping, the Nimitz history museum and nearby state parks. An HEB grocery store, Walgreens, hospital and gas station are nearby or within one-two miles of Oakwood RV Resort. We've been coming here for years and still haven't seen it all!

Parking is very tight and your rig is very close to the ones next to you. If you have a camper, then you'll be parking perpendicular to your rig which might keep the person in front or behind you from having enough swing room to pull out or in. Folks who work there are very friendly and helpful. Meeting room is adequate and clean. We'll probably try and stay somewhere else next time. Really like the municipal park, but there is no rally room. We camped at Oakwood RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We paid for a premium site with grass for our little dog to enjoy lounging on. Unfortunately the grass was very sparse and loaded with thistles. It was not what I expected at all. The site had no shade, the concrete table was at the end of the patio where we couldn't shade it with our awning, and it was immovable--so we never used it. The shaded sites were close together and very short, however, so that may have been a problem for us. I also chose this resort because it had a huge pool. We swam one day and had the pool all to ourselves. That's probably because the water was freezing! But we did enjoy the hot tub afterwards. I asked in the office about recycling and was met with a blank look and the comment that we could always take it home with us. Since we were at the start of a three week trip I really did not want to do that. I googled recycling myself and found the local, very convenient, drive-through recycling facility nearby. Site was level and clean. We camped at Oakwood RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

As many others have reported the sites here are way too close. We opted for a premium site, site "D" and even this site did not adequately fit our 40' motorhome. The depth was ok, but our drivers side slide was completely over the neighbors patio. On the passenger side slide we had to move the motorhome forward (sacrificing parking area) so that we could even open our outside TV compartment. By the time our passenger side slides were out and with our neighbors slide out we could not sit comfortably on the remaining patio. Even getting to the back of the coach was difficult because there was a shrub in the way. Whoever decided to use shrubs in lieu of trees has never really camped in an RV park. And speaking of trees, there were none, there are plenty in what I would assume the older part, but the section we stayed in had very few. At our neighbor's location, the sewer line was coming up in the middle of the slab.

Our traveling companions had one of the premium pull through sites and it was way worse than ours. The crew has to spend an inordinate amount of time helping folks park because a few inches to the right or the left makes a huge difference.

We will not be staying here again. We camped at Oakwood RV Resort in a Motorhome.

I made reservations on line. When we got there and went to our site, it was not good. We called the front office and ask them about the site in front of our site. They said they would have to charge us another five dollars for each night. I ask why and they said that site had a bench. Really? Nice pool, but the dog walk was too far. Would I stay there next time.? No. We camped at Oakwood RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
