Nice park about 30 min. from Galveston. Quieter out there and still just across the street from beach access. Clean, well kept park. Jamaica Beach just 13 min. drive has a few small convenient/grocery stores and restaurants. Spent most of our time at the beach or down by the bridge at the pass playing in the sand with our Jeep and watching the beautiful sunset. Didn't use much of the amenities but nice patio to sit on with a nice view. Pool and lazy river, pickle ball and some games at the clubhouse. Wi-fi not the best. Worked intermittently. Concrete site with a grill and picnic table. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out Galveston State Park if you like nature and some hiking. Drive down to San Luis Pass by the bridge to see the sunset (some areas need 4x4). Take a drive along the Termini-San-Luis Pass Rd and look at all the houses. They are still building them.

We came for the weekend. The roads are nice and wide. Our pull thru site felt very spacious. They have a nice lazy river. The office is in the back of the park, but a sign would have been nice to point us the way to the office. We will be back again. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Clean park, lazy river is a nice touch. Everything you need is on-site, no need to leave. Sites are close but spacious for the area and well kept. Expansion going on but didn’t interfere. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a clean, nice looking park. The office is in the back of the park up some stairs. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. They have frozen "adult" beverages for sale which they were excited to tell us about. All sites and interior roads are paved. Water does puddle, especially in the interior roads, and the road never dried while we there despite several days without rain. Sites are long and wide. We were able to park the car beside the motorhome. Our site was very level but we saw a couple where the wheels were barely touching. On the bright side, most appeared level. Sites are about 15 feet apart with a strip of grass and sometimes a small palm tree. There is no shade. We were on the second row near the front and had a slim view of the gulf between houses - if we looked out the right window :) It is pretty quiet at night but lots of traffic noise during the day. Beach access is just down the road, and the beach is not that busy. Directv worked fine, and they also have cable. Verizon was 4g 5 bars. The WII FI didn't work - we could connect but almost immediately got kicked off. We used the hot spots on our phones. There are beautiful Victorian houses on the Tree Sculpture tour which we didn't expect in Galveston. The Tree Sculpture tour is kind of interesting. There are lots of touristy things to do and touristy restaurants but also a lot of local restaurants. Note: The park is building new sites, and there is construction noise. More apparent in some of the back-in sites that are right by it. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We spent Nov, 2018-April 2019 here in a Motorhome. The staff in the office is great. The offer van service to the cruise ships for campers too! They are adding 35 new sites in the back and West side of the park. The pond has been expanded to lake size and just needs more water for great on site fishing. Walk to the beach across the street. Golf cart rental is available from the office. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice RV park. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pool was not heated ? and they do not have many planned activities. The weather was terrible with fog and clouds almost every day in February. I realize the park is not at fault for this but comment only to suggest a different area may be better for snowbirds. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Fairly new and thus clean and modern. Ample space, pool, hot tub, lazy river. A bit further out from Galveston but therefore not as crowded as the parks closer to the city. Ample access to beach across the street. Very quiet in the off season. Very friendly camp hosts. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

18 miles to Kroger and Walmart in Galveston, 30 miles to ALDI in Lake Jackson, TX. Katie's Seafood Market in Galveston has fresh (off their boats) fish every day.

Very clean facility close to the beach, which is a short walk across the road. Roads were nice and wide, easy to navigate. Hookups were well placed and worked great. No obstruction to satellite and cell set was strong. Site was level with a great view of the sunset. Expect sea fog and wind in the winter, limiting use of the pool or lazy river. Staff was helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The park is about 25 minutes from Galveston so keep that in mind. We didn’t mind the drive. Eat at Nate’s West End which isn’t far from the park. San Luis Pass is a bra spot a short drive away.

One month into our three month Snowbird stay. Fantastic park, great Folks. They really care about their park and guests. Roadways within the park are really wide making it easy to maneuver your RV. Sites are EXTRA wide also, all sites are wider than an extra wide site in other parks that you have to pay more for. Plan on coming back. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed there in our Travel Trailer through December and part of January. The park is a long way from town but is very quiet. If you are looking for activities in a park, look elsewhere because there are none. Some play dominoes in the club house a couple times a week. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax without activities, this park will work. Sites are cement and nice and level. Mosquitos abound in the area. WiFi iffy. Tips for other Campers:

Visitors center is a must. Bishops House and Bryant Museums are worth it. Strip downtown is beautiful but all shops are alike. For Mexican Food we liked Gustos and The Original. For Seafood we liked Saltwater on Post Office Street. For a new experience drive west from park and go to La Micheocana Mexican Grocery near Lake Jackson. All foods including bakery goods are outstanding.

We stayed from October 2018 through May 2019. Don't know the daily rate as we stayed for 7 months at 550.00/month We fulltime in a 44 ft 5th wheel. The park is clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The park is active but quiet and the pool area is great. Good fishing and Galveston is an interesting place to explore. Tips for other Campers:

Do the Historic Ghost Tour. Fishing is good but be careful of the currents. If you want to fish near the bridge on the west end watch the pot holes they are deep and full of water most of the time. Check out the Coastal Grill for seafood. Great place. Good library and the Opera House is a beautiful place to visit.

Nice paved RV park with friendly staff. We were there in off season so the park did not have many people, but I can imagine that this place gets a bit crazy in the summer time. This park is the furthers away (about 25 minutes) from the museums and restaurants in Galveston. Sites are level and the grounds are very clean. Note that the beach access to the beach is not directly across the street. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are not any grocery stores near by, so provisioning ahead of time is recommended. The Oil and Gas museum is worth seeing. Train museum was average. There is a great candy/ice cream store on strand street.

The park was mostly empty at the end of April when we arrived, so we had lots of choice of sites and lots of space. The washrooms were the cleanest and nicest we have ever come across. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were lots of amenities, including a large pool, ping pong table, etc. The nearby beaches were mostly empty. Galveston Island RV Resort is a great place to relax. It is 17 miles west of Galveston so there is little traffic or noise. There are nearby beach accesses, so morning coffee on the beach was a must. The island is quite narrow at this point and the pelicans go from the Gulf of Mexico to West Bay and back again. They can create some unique flying formations, fun to watch. The park has concrete interior roads and pads with grass in between, it is quite clean. There are few trees and it can be windy. The city of Galveston is a short drive and offers dining and shopping, and there is a nice local restaurant, Nate's West End, just up the road. The resort office is on the second level, as is just about everything on the island, and has a nice deck to view the surrounding area, with one of the margaritas they offer. The pull-through pads are raised in the middle, so a motorhome must be pretty much centered to avoid leveling issues. The WiFi had been upgraded and was good. This was my first visit to Galveston Island and it was a very pleasurable experience. I hope to return. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Nice and new RV park at the far west end of the island. The drive into the main area with the restaurants and other activities is 20-30 minutes. The park has nice flat sites that are concrete with a picnic table and BBQ. The park offers good and clean standard amenities with the bathrooms, showers and laundry. They have a nice pool and lazy river. The wifi worked decent most of the time. See the pictures and full reviews at our blog at thegilliamsisland.
